[Q] part of the touch screen is not responding - LG Optimus G (International)

I'm not totally sure if that area is totally disabled or just simply rom's error.
The best to describe that part is when I use my phone horizontally (home button, port charger, etc... is on the right hand side), the backspace button ( "<---" when typing) is not responding, and I can't delete the texts. Turn the phone around and it works just fine. using other apps, horizontal and vertical also got slow responds around that area.
using LGOG Korea ver only for about a month.

Im typing a text in the right-handed landscape mod.
Works good for me so far, no problems. Backspace working good. But i use emm, actually i dont remember name of that keyboard. Something pro

[Q] Micro USB port causing navigation app, speaker on and screen on/off issue

I bought my Desire HD from Hong Kong last February, and just before Christmas, I found my phone is starting the navigation app(The one for car come with the phone) keeps getting triggered for some reason; a week later the speaker is automatically switched on when I am calling, I have to manually turn it off every time. Few days ago, I found the phone's screen gets turned on, just like when the screen is off, you press the power button to switch on the screen.
All these 3 problems disappears when I have the microUSB cable pluged, it does not necessary to plug the USB part to a charger or computer.
I tried to clean the microUSB port on the phone, and I make sure nothing inside, only some tiny dust. But the problems still remains.
Anyone?
Having the same problem will be waiting for help aswell as searching will post back if I find something!

Are you on a stock ROM or do you have a Dock option in settings if so go to Setting -> Dock -> uncheck Auto Launch and Auto Connect!
I have stock ROM 2.3.3 and the Setting -> Dock -> uncheck Auto Launch and Auto Connect is not checked.
I am 100% it is related to the microUSB now.

[Q] No LED Notification on Text Message

When I have an unread SMS message on my G3, the notification LED does not come on. I have to turn on the screen to see if there is an incoming SMS I need to read.
Can anyone tell me how do I set the LED to come on when I have a waiting SMS message?
Under Settings > Display, I have Notification LED turned on and the check box for Missed Calls and Messages is checked.
Thanks!
That what I have and it works

Go into it and uncheck it then recheck. When you do it should flash green like 3 times. If it does not then may I dare ask what xposed mods you running.

I unchecked it, then checked it. The LED flashed green twice. Tested it and the LED still does not come on when I have a text waiting. I am running no xposed mods.
What is interesting is that if a message is waiting and I turn off the screen, the LED flashes green twice before the screen goes black.

Well the led will only flash if screen is off and then I think it is very spread out when it does. Testing now

OK so with screen on no led. With it off green blink 2 times every 10 seconds
Sorry, let me explain - If an SMS needs to be read:
- With the screen on, no LED. with the screen off, no LED.
- If the screen is On and I press the power button briefly to turn the screen off, the LED will flash green twice, then both the screen and the LED go off.
If no SMS needs to be read, when I press the power button to turn the screen off, the LED stays off and does nothing.
from browsing around the web this seems to be a problem with some KitKat devices.
Correct. I would try to reflash and see if something got stuck
Nothing to reflash, my ROM is stock.

Thanks, but I'll save that as an absolute last resort, because from what I've read that doesn't always fix the problem in KitKat, especially if the message LED didn't even work out of the box.

ok no problem. i was just saying that before your 14 days are up and then if they does have issue you will get a refurbished one instead of a brand new one.
Well this is interesting... I noticed that the Android System had used 120MB of data during my last billing period. So using the app Android Firewall I blocked Task ID 1000 which includes Android System, font server, smart screen, home selector, LG System Server, QuickMemo+, and about a dozen other applications.
My G3 is noticeably faster, lag is reduced, and hey - the LED notification now works for SMS/MMS messages!

Smart Select Won't Stop Auto Extracting Text When Sharing Screen caps

I've notice this problem, it's not huge but it's annoying, and I don't think it's just my phone because CNet's reviewer mentioned this too. Basically, whenever I screengrab something via Smart Select (say, a tweet, or a Whatsapp message, or Facebook post) and share the picture, if the app to which i'm sharing has a text/caption box, the phone will auto text extract and paste the text in the photos into the box.
i've provided an example in the attachment. as you can see, i'm trying to send a screen capture of a chat to another friend and all the text inside the pic got extracted too. so i had to spend 5 seconds deleting all the text.
ALSO, while i'm at it... i also notice that even though i changed the notification sound to one specific sound in general settings, many apps still make its own sound when notifying me, and i have to go into that app's specific settings to change the sound. some apps, like youtube, just don't give that option, so i'm basically stuck with that one unwanted notification sound from youtube whenever i get a comment.
Did you ever find a solution to this problem?

Here is an easy fix. Hit smart select and crop the image you want to send. Next tap the draw button INSTEAD of the share button. After you click draw button hit the SEND button at the bottom.

Bottom edge of touch screen not responding

So, last week I bought the P2. So far I'm very pleased with the device. Next to the known audio sync issue I ran into one other thing that still bugs me after a week of use: the bottom edge of the touch screen doesn't seem to respond to touch. When I slowly slide my finger from above the screen over the edge of the screen, it immediately picks up my finger, even when only a small part (maybe a millimeter) touches the screen. When I do the same thing at the bottom of the screen, it will only start registering my touch when I'm about 6mm in.
6mm doesn't sound like a lot, but it's enough to make me miss-touch the space bar half of the time. I thought I'd get used to it, but it is still quite annoying... Is this the same for all P2's? I'd like to hear if anyone can confirm this.

Same problem here, it seems that when you hide the on-screen buttons that area is effectively useless. On 6.0.0 and 6.0.1. I have no idea how to fix, but you definitely aren't the only one
i too had experienced same problem, while playing Asphalt extreme, it doesnt let me press the NEXT button
Well, I'm glad that my phone isn't broken. Let's hope it's a firmware issue and not a hardware one!
Check your keyboard set up. I have hidden buttons and the whole Spacebar is active to touch. Right to the bottom of the visible Spacebar. There is a gap slightly narrower than the Spacebar beneath it at bottom of screen. This does not respond to touch. My advice would be to be a little more accurate with typing . As there is no way to fix this and keep hidden buttons. Gesture home button, hidden navigation buttons and big battery are best features of this phone!
I wouldn't even have noticed this issues if you hadn't pointed it out. It's present, but it doesn't really bother me too much. Especially since I switched from my G4 which had me miss the spacebar and hit the home button way too often lately for no particular reason. Not having those softkeys is still an upgrade for me ^^
i am sure its definitely a SOFTWARE problem, official lenovo forms also has a thread about this problem..
so lenovo would patch up in their next update
It is software, but it won't be patched. There needs to be a certain amount of space at edge of screen (dead zone) to allow swipe up of navigation buttons but also avoid unintentional swipe ups. They could tweak the size of the dead zone I guess, but I don't see it happening. Alternatively they give an option to totally deactivate on-screen navigation buttons and accept some apps may have issues.... I guess it is a trade off. As I say, I cannot see Lenovo changing it.

The last option would work for me I guess, although you do need the navigation buttons sometimes for older apps that still use the menu button.

Ah, found it. They say it's required for the "swipe up" gesture... Seems strange to me, but let's wait for another reponse from Lenovo...
I have the nav bar enabled all the time so I didn't noticed this issue.
But why there is no option to turn the swipe function off, because we can use the full functionallity with the home button?..

Have u checked through Lenovo app in the phone? Run diagnostic through the app, if any point in the screen doesn't register the touch, you should be able to claim warranty with Lenovo. I had the same problem, and Lenovo service centre gave me a new unit....

That is not the problem. And if you try the touch screen test in the Lenovo app you see the the bottom area of the screen is white and it cannot be tested. What he is talking about is not a hardware error, it's just a poor implementation in software.

Is there anyone in here that have root that have tried Immersive mode? There are apps in Play store that lets you activate this. Does this help the bottom of the screen to register touch?
Is any custom rom resolve this problem? Because I will unlock my bootloader and root my phone to increase the headset volume.

I understand that there's potential issue with the software as many has reported as well... However it's good to confirm that it is not a hardware issue... In marshmallow, you should be able to test it, it won't be whitish... I tested before when I'm claiming warranty for my previous unit... Same issue, space bar does not respond...

Google assistant routine

Hi all, just wondering if anyone is using Google assistant here and encountering any problem with it. My Google routine on the phone returns search results instead of activating the routine. For eg, when I say, ok Google turn on the fan, it shows me the search results for turning on the fan instead.
I have all other notes and all working fine. Been trying to resolve this for the past few days.

I just noticed mine does the same. I'm not using it for home automation, but it just opens search results and nothing in a window of its own.
Also when I say "OK Google" the window that opens only takes up half the screen

I just figured it out. Long press the home button to physically activate Google assistant. It will then take you through a real quick set up process and it should work normally
