How to do a hard-reset, JellyBean Galaxy Nexus - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

After my phone fell, I popped the battery back in and started it, it started fine, but then I turned on Bluetooth and it immediately restarted, after it restarted it was fine, but then it wanted to turn Bluetooth on again and then it restarted, and it did that again and again.
I also couldn't turn off Bluetooth because it is already turned off, but the phone wants to turn it back on and in that second (the Bluetooth logo shows in the notification bar for a second) it restarts once again.
So if there is anything I can do to disable Bluetooth, I would love it but I don't think there is.
So I want to do a hard-reset because I don't have time to do anything when the phone starts. So I pressed the two volume buttons and the power button, it shows a screen, I choose recovery mode using the volume buttons, and then after I press on the power button to choose it, it shows a dead Android with a red rectangle and an exclamation mark in it, after a while it reboots again, and nothing happens.
I'm running Jelly bean 4.1, non-rooted, on a GSM/Unlocked Galaxy Nexus.
I recently bought this phone and I feel miserable, please help me.

In stock recovery there is a key combination that needs to be pressed to get to get to the options (e.g. Factory Reset)

What is this key combination, I pressed all of the keys to go into the 'boot menu' and after chose recovery mode using the power button. Is there anything else I should do

Select recovery then after u see the droid screen.. Press and hold power then hit the vol up key and release

I honestly don't remember. Once in recovery you have to press a specific combination (maybe volume up + power OR volume down +power) to get to the options menu in stock recovery (dead Android with a red rectangle and an exclamation mark).
:Edit: what LiquidXed said :cyclops:

I managed to get there. do i select wipe data / factory reset

too late, I already did it

Really?

So your making fun of me (I guess), great profile picture by the way.
It worked i'm back inside my phone, but do I dare turn on Bluetooth !!!!

Test it. Then you'll know if the problem was hardware or software.

[Q] Boot loop with a difference...

Took my phone out of my jacket pocket earlier since I thought I could hear a weird buzzing noise every ~8seconds. Looked at my phone and can see it's stuck in a boot loop. I can't hold the power button to turn it off it gets as far as the HTC screen and then goes black. I've tried to get into recovery mode (just holding down the volume - button). It does work to get in there but I only have ~8 seconds before it goes black and reboots again, doesn't seem to be able to pic any of the different options in there though (with - or +)
This phone is stock O2 (EIRE) never been touched not even rooted. Anyone have seen these issues with HTC One X? :crying:
Is there any recommendations that I can do? (key combo) Hoping that when the battery dies it'll go away... doesn't feel to stable though!
I have an idea ...... turn it in for warranty right away
anything to try first?
Hi,
Try this:
Hold power button together with volume down simultaneously till the phone reboots. Still holding both buttons you should go to service menu. Then choose bootloader with using volume key down/up and when the bootloader is selected press once power button. You should go to bootloader menu, from which you select power off and press power menu.
Your phone should be power off.
Then try to press again power and volume down buttons till you gonna gain in service menu. From there you should find and select factory reset and press power button once.
Your phone should be resented and then just reboot.
If everything is correct your phone will be with everything reserved and also your data and settings will be gone, but at least will work. Then you should set again your settings and preferences.
Hope this could help to get your mobile working again.

Thanks dude, that almost worked... got a bit further after factory reset... went to the O2 splash logo and then back to beginning... actually tried it again before hitting reply, wanted to make sure that I actually had time to hit the factory reset before the phone rebooted (8seconds, less actually seems to be 2-3 seconds then a bit longer after...)
I've got a feeling the phone is/has overheated and resetting itself. I think it's rubbish you can't take the battery our of these!
Finally stopped rebooting, battery must be knackered. Will leave it for a while and then start a charge, think it's going into an O2 outlet Monday!
As soon as I started charging the phone booted up and back to loop...
Sorry mate ...like i said, warranty case

[Q] Cannot get past droid with red triangle

Hi
My Nexus 7 recently ran out of battery and as per usual, died.
When i plugged it into the charger, I thought it would charge and be ready to use again.
After several hours, nothing happened. No display saying it was charging, nada.
I then went to power it up into recovery mode, by holding down power button and volume down.
This then seemed to 'reboot' the system and I now see a droid with a red triangle and the words 'No command'
Having a look around online, people have suggested holding down power button and volume up.
Whenever I do this, the screen goes blank, the Google logo appears then the same droid with a red triangle appears.
I cannot seem to get past this step.
Has anyone come across this before and if so, how I do I get past this and actually use my Nexus?
Thanks

It's a little tricky actually. You shouldn't have to hold the power + vol up buttons for very long. The most important thing is that you have to make sure you push them at the EXACT same time. I kind of figured this one out on my own when I was having issues flashing a custom recovery.

When I press them at the same time, the only thing that happens is the screen goes slightly darker (i.e the icon becomes less visible)
I've pressed the buttons together so many times and nothing happens.
I tried to get back into recovery mode using a bootloader from androidrootz.com. I managed to get back to the step where i can select 'Start, Recovery Mode, Power Off' etc I ran 'Recovery Mode', which then rebooted and I go the same icon. I can't seem to run the program again though, so I'm still stuck with the lying down droid

Were you completely stock when this all happened? What bootloader from androidrootz.com? If you can flash a bootloader, why not flash the factory image?
Sorry, charesa39. Just as you'd posted (I'd posted same ). I'll just add it can be tricky. Maybe try power first then continue holding while hitting vol +. You do this when you're at the fallen Andy screen.

I also had some problems to access recovery. Finally it worked after many tries. So far i remember you have to press the buttons not too short and not too long ;D... perhaps 3-4 seconds. Then Release one of the buttons and the second one half a second later. I don't remember which button i released first, but there are only to possibilities. Hope this helps... in my case the recovery appeared.

Press vol up and power until the lg logo and the boot error message (that appears on top left corner) come up, release power button but keep holding vol up until cwm appears.

Note: My friends phone has a lot of files and he forgot the pin and its phone is crack and unresponsive screen.

I have E988, and usually what i do to be able to get into recovery would be pressing both power and volume up button at the same time till the first LG logo appears and disappears. Then I release the power button, after which I do combinations of <2 down button presses then press the power button>, up until after the second LG logo appears and disappears, then recovery finally shows up. However I'm not sure about stock recovery though as i have cwm

[Q] LG Optimus G Sprint is stuck on android recovery system, screen is cracked?

My LG Optimus G is stuck on the Android System Recovery screen. I can move up and down with the volume bar but I can select anything because you need to use the soft menu button and my screen is cracked there. Is there anyway to get around this? I've tried holding power and volume down to reset it but it just restarts and goes back to the recovery screen.

The power button should be the select. Press up or down on the volume to navigate and press power when you are where you want it to be.
Is the recovery stock or CWM? The power button should work either way for the select. Hope this helps.
also if you are just trying to restart, try holding down only power for about 20-30 seconds, it should do a hard shut down, then when you press power to turn on again it should go to the system.

I'm not sure if it's stock, it says Android Recovery System e3. It says to hit enter to choose an option but hitting the power button wouldn't select anything. I held down the power down and it shut off and isn't turning back on.
my lg optimus g turned off and now it wont come on or hold a charge
Well where do I start, I love this phone and I have not had a single issue with it until yesterday, took my phone off the charger in the am walked out the door , started my car went to make a phone call and my phone was off , tried to turn it on and to no avail, so i took the battery out of the phone (mind you this was quite an experience taking the back cover off) took care of that unhooked the battery let it sit for 5 minutes and it came back on like a charm , well as the day progressed my battery eventually died , so im thinking no biggie right? wrong tried to turn my phone on and nothing at all , just a solid red light which eventually cuts off but thats only when you put it on a charger and does nothing no blinking lights no power nothing. So ive been online following a bunch of different steps and the only thing i could do was put the phone into download mode when connected to a cpu but the cpu doesnt seem to see the device nor does it have power , im trying to fix this myself if possible, im really not trying to pay for a repalcement phone or wait 14 days to get another one so ill try as hard as i can here first and see if i can get some help.. PLEASE!!!! HELP!!!

Did the battery die? What happens when it is plugged in and you hold down the power? (to attempt to turn back on)

[Q] Sumsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 (SM-T805) screen went black

My tablet Galaxy Tab S 10.5 (SM-T805) screen went black. I can’t see the screen.
Touch also does not seem to work. However it’s on. it is receiving calls and other messages. It is connected to WiFi.
Power button, volume button are working but I can’t power off the device cause I can’t see the screen options.
When I plug in to the charging cable it vibrates but does not show anything on screen.
It didn’t drop and hit by anything…i have been using it for 3 months now. it just happened by itself or may be by some update that I don’t know.
Please help how to bring it back to life
Are you able to get into download or recovery? I've never heard of something like this before. Maybe go ahead and let it die and then plug it back in and see if you can get into download mode by holding home+power+volume down then re flash your stock firmware or whatever you were using. Or do home+power+volume up to get into recovery. If you still have stock recovery then you can just do a factory reset right from that but if your using something TWRP then your still going to need to flash something after wiping your data.
Not sure how else you can get it to shut off since you can't see it. Even knowing where the power menu is once you press the button it would still be tough to hit the right thing. I'd say let it die. Maybe someone else can come shed some light. Of course it could be a hardware problem as well. I'm leaning toward software still though.
If your still completely stock I'd say let it die and get into stock recovery. Home+power+volume up and then wipe data and do a factory reset. Now if the screen stays black after its off and you've plugged in the charging cable then I'd imagine there's a more a serious problem going on.
Yes I am waiting for battery to be completely drained out. I will try your method once the battery is completely dead.
thanks
Your welcome let me know how it goes. Will do my best to help.
I don't have my tab with me right now but can't you hold power button for 10 sec to force a reboot? All Android device I ever had could do that.

Doest work on t805 holding powerbutton, just hold the buttons for download mode and that will force it to reset and prompt you to press volume down to cancel volume up to continue...hold for 30 seconds, and if nothing appears let go and just press volume up once, still no joy then pop back cover off and unclip and reclip battery if your brave, thats what i did before i new about this quicker way.
How to run the battery completely down..? its still active and on... though not showing anything on screen.
Is there any quicker way... ?
To do a hard-reset on these Samsung devices, you need to hold Power + Home + Volume Down until it reboots. On every other device it's just Power. Some it's Power+Home. For some reason Samsung likes to be different.
Or if you have previously enabled USB Debugging, you can plug it in to your computer and do an ADB Reboot.
Power + volume down + volume up works for me as reset.
