Hows battery life ? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I had a gnex a while ago before the summer and now im switching from my gs3 back to it. I get maybe a 4 hours or more at times with my gs3. Any extended batteries i should consider getting ? Thanks

I managed 1d4h on the stock battery. 3.5 hours screen on and I had about 30% remaining. That's with a majority of my web browsing on wifi. YMMV, obviously. Many would suggest the extended I believe. It's worth looking into, depending on how you use your phone.

I see you have verizon. At least for me, I can get a MAXIMUM of 1 hour of screen on time and about 5-6 hours of just sitting on the desk doing nothing...no syncing even.
So in short, for me at least, the battery sucks. The GS3 (my friend has that and i'm just going by what he said), it lasts about 3-4 hours screen on time and over a day on standby. Take your pick

dig through the accessories section, PLENTY of extended battery reviews by users there

I bought the Hyperion extended battery when I got this(this week) and love it so far. Last me all day no matter what I do on it.

Verizons sending me the samsung extended OEM one, hopefully that will be good. I usually use my phone for text, web pictures, music and gaming.

[Q] Is an extended battery / second battery a must?

So, my OG Droid was acting up and my upgrade wasn't due until late july so I decided to purchase a Droid X.
While, I don't have the phone yet, and it is used I was debating whether or not a second battery is necessary as I will have a car charger from my original droid. But, at the same time I have had a second battery with most of my phones for years. But, then again I will most likely be replacing this phone by Sept/Oct the absolute latest.
You might be able to get by on just one battery. It seems the DroidX has one of the best battery lives for Android phones. If you do buy another battery, I would suggest the extended battery. It adds only 1mm to the back of the phone and it gave me around 4-5 hours more battery life than the standard battery. Then you can always have the standard battery on backup if you need some extra juice at the end of the day.
thanks for the tip
On Rubix Focused I can get 24 hours of battery life with heavy use! I have been thinking of getting an extended battery though. It would just be convenient
I have an extended battery and carry the standard battery that came with the DX in my car just in case i ever need to swap..no biggie, convenient.
Hey, I used the BH6X from Motorola and gave me superb life. I got more that 20 hrs (using juice defender) from it. Im now reviewing the 3800mAh that I got off eBay on the X2 forums, you're welcomed to come by since this battery is for both x's. I didnt want to start a whole new thread here in the X forums.

it really depends how heavily your using your phone and what for
I have 2 Motorola BH5X Standard 1500mAh Batteries I keep on me for backup at all times, which, ever since my sister-in-laws wedding and a trip to disneyland has become the standard for me.
Turns out taking a butt load of pictures and helping my wife manage the people at a wedding required a total of 3 batteries for my phone
Meanwhile, taking a lots of pix at Disneyland with no readily available outlets for my external charger also made 3 batteries the perfect number, especially after recording those late night light shows.
On a regular day though I can stretch out a single battery if I have an outlet for charging nearby or 2 batteries without a charger.
and yeah, I don't restrict data either so that does a number on my charge.
I get around 30 hours on the standard battery but I work from home, doesn't get two hours of streaming use on the way to and from work anymore. When I was driving two hours I would charge it every afternoon on the way home depending on the previous nights use. I also picked up a xoom so I use the phone a lot less now.

I am LUCKY to get 7 hours... I had to get a 2nd battery!
I ended up buying a second battery from Amazon for like 5 dollars and a cheap charger for the battery. Anytime I know I'm going to be out for awhile I take the extra battery. It has saved me a bunch of times.
If you're playing games or streaming movies a lot then I would def get one. With moderate use, I get at least 12 hours on mine

I would advice to replace a factory battery with an extended battery.
This one for instance is 3600mAh Extended Battery by Mugen, at least twice the capacity compared to factory battery. Reliable brand as well.
http://www.mugen-power-batteries.co...y-for-motorola-droid-x-with-battery-door.html
I would recommend one if you use your x constantly more than 4 hours in a single use.

Funny Thing About the Extended Battery

My friend had gotten a Inc2 as a replacement for her BB and they sent her the extended for free as well as the regular. She didn't want it so I decided to try it out. I immediately noticed two things:
1) It adds negligible weight but a desired width to the phone, both are nice and work well with my large hands.
2) The backing for the extended battery actually makes clicking on the power button easier. Using the regular battery cover it was almost a chore to turn the screen on as the power button was almost flushed with the case.
So if you're thinking of shelling out moolah for it, it's a good bet you'll still love your phone afterwards.
But how's the battery life?
I have the extended battery also and love it! I just went to the lake for the 4th and didn't charge it from thursday morning until sunday around noon. Granted i didn't use the phone as heavily as usual i still spent around an hour a day on the internet, used gps, talked around 45 mins a day, and sent approx 50 texts a day. So i would say its pretty good!

Agreed..I get 20 hours with it and I'm heavy user, plus my cell signal is terrible...like 40% time without signal...I just wish I could get a white or red back to it

it's b.s. though that the original Incredible had a 3500 mah extended battery where this one for the inc 2 is 2150 mah.
i'm waiting until a more powerful extended is available for the inc 2.
on a side note though, i used to have the thunderbolt and got the extended battery for that. the extended battery only helped a little bit but took twice as long to charge.
The only thing about other batteries is they may not work in the phone. I'm not sure about this phone specifically but my fascinate wouldn't charge one of the extended batteries I bought for it because it wasn't OEM. I had to install a custom kernel in order to make it work. In all honesty though, when I'm not on vacation I use the crap out of my phone and I haven't gotten it below 30% in a days time. And I'm sure if I HAD TO, I could go 4-5 days on a charge if I were away from my house/truck
Has anyone tried these?

Sounds like a good alternative if they fit and improve battery life if even just a little.

that would be cool if you could swap batteries without the phone going off.

How did she get one for free? I am about through with my 14 day trial and considering a return because of battery life.
Thanks
I just got a Dinc 2 for a replacement also. I was working on replacing my eris for the 5th time and I was able to talk them into this instead (note this does not happen all of the time). I think they have an abundance of returns on this phone so they are turning them into warr replacements.
Some people are getting new devices out of this, not just refurbs. I think they are using this one because it's one of their cheaper current models.

HTC Extended battery good results.. very little bulk

I was on the edge for quite some time trying to figure out if I wanted to buy one or not.
Im glad I did. On an average WORK day Ill rape the battery and itll be lucky to last the duration without charge. Average of 60-90% OUT of signal during this time. (no wifi at work). Today Is my first day on a full charge with the extended battery and Im sitting at 78% left with the same day to use use and have just over an hour left. To be able to stay AWAY from the charger today has seriously been amazing. On my D1 with extended batt I was able to do the same thing, normal battery not hardly.
For regular battery off work days I can easily go 18hrs on a charge without fear. Im looking forward to my few days off and seeing what I can squeeze out of this extended battery.
For those thinking about going extended just do it, you definitely will not be sorry at all. The size added to the back is seriously so small and it even fits nicer in the hands. In my jeans pocket its not even noticeable either.
Agreed. Use CM7 and juicedefender and you'll get 40+ hours out of it.

Samsung OEM 2000mah extended battery

Hey y'all,
new here to the gnex forums from nexus s and I just wanted to share with y'all my experience with this battery.
Well, I'm on my third deep cycle to initially condition the battery and I gotta tell ya...
IT RULES.
I bought the battery after reading some reviews giving it decent feedback. It's on ebay from a company seller called "ShimShop".
It arrived in just about a week and I'm very satisfied.
The battery and extended door make the phone feel slightly heavier and more solid in your hand, It fits in both commuter and defender series otterboxs, but I suggest commuter.
I've been throuroghly impressed today as the battery has only drained 10% in 7 hours with 30 minutes of screen time. All my sync settings are enabed, running stock aosp 4.1.2 alongside franco's m6 kernel with his optimized settings.
I encourage EVERYONE to buy this battery. The stock gave me decent battery life, but this one seems much better thus far.

Thanks for letting us know!
Also, how much better is it compared to the stock 1750mAh Battery?

It'll buy you a few extra hours (unless your a big gamer, then you have to measure the gain in minutes). It's worth it to get through a workday with commuting included.

There's already a thread about it which is a couple of pages long.
It seems much stronger than the 1750mah, even though its only a difference of 250mah. It literally lasted me 48 hours with 4 hours of screen time, It's taking me forever to get through the initial deep drain cycles lol

Same here, I can get almost 4 hours on 2 days of battery. I do disable location tracking though and only turn it on when needed.
Keep in mind guys, that you're coming from a well used 1750 to a brand new 2000 so the difference will feel much greater.
Hey, I just bought one from the same seller. Won't be here for at least a week though. Thanks for the recommendation!

You don't need to do any conditioning of modern batteries, just use it. I've been using the extended battery in my new GNex and it's going on forever from my normal charging habits

Terrible battery life on stock. What to choose?

So, after having a half dozen different android phones (see sig) the Nexus 4 **** out on me so I had to sell it for $100 and get.... an iPhone... Because it was the cheapest smartphone I could find ($60 on craigslist)... Used it (painfully) for about 2 months before some guy on craigslist decided to trade me an S3 for it!!! I'M BACK TO ANDROID! AND NEVER FELT BETTER!
Only one thing I miss... I had 2-3 day battery life on the ****Phone, but my S3 is hardly giving me a whole day. I put my phone in my pocket at 80% at 7 AM this morning. Between 7 AM and noon, I used the phone for TWO messages on hangouts and to check the time about a dozen times. Down to 60% at noon. Then went for a long car drive and checked my phone and sent another 2-3 messages and was down to 50% battery life. Took about 20 pictures and 10 seconds of video and put it back in my pocket. Around 4PM, battery is at 15%.
So all in all, 2 hangout messages, 5 texts, 10 pictures, 10 seconds of video, and 8 hours of idling took around 70% of my battery.
I'm considering grabbing an Incipio Offgrid battery case (had one for my ****Phone that brought it up to a week of battery life) but still that will probably not be doubling my battery life.
Is there any specific ROM you can suggest that I should use to get very good battery life?
I've been using AOSP/Stock/CM ROM's on all my Android phones for about a year and it's getting old, for that sole fact I actually am liking TouchWiz better, but I'm open to options. I mostly use my phone to text and browse the internet/reddit, not a whole lot of gaming or video watching.
Individual mileage may vary. I would recommend trying out ROMs instead of asking, after all, could your battery get any worse?

True. I was looking at the battery, wondering if, since I got the phone used, the battery might be worn or getting old from use. Maybe not a bad idea to pick up a new Ankher battery or something (though I'm not wanting any of the extended ones with the bigger back.)
I'm trying to decide between an extended battery case like a Mohpie or Incipio Offgrid which obviously makes the phone a whole lot bigger, or a slimmer case, with a Wirless Qi charging pad...
