[Q] Sprint SGS3, CM10, & MHL Adapter - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I've got a very odd problem and need some help with it. I've got a Sprint Samsung GSIII running the latest nightly of CM10 and am trying to use an MHL adapter with it. I've got the official samsung branded, 11-pin, MHL adapter specific to the gsIII. The odd thing about it, is that it only works sometimes... If I plug it in, the phone recognizes the adapter(led light comes on and it goes to landscape mode automatically)but nothing shows up on the tv. If I reboot the phone and plug it in, the television shows static and if I touch the screen it works fine. I can use the mhl normally with no problem, but if I disconnect and re-connect, nothing again. I've tested the phone on a TW rom and it works fine the whole time. Anybody have any ideas on what is going on or how to fix it? I'd appreciate any help you guys could give.

No ideas at all? How a place to find someone with an idea? Anybody

Reboot your phone so that it works, and after you get your TV connected, open Terminal Emulator, and type:
Code:
su
logcat -d > /storage/sdcard0/nameoffile.txt
logcat -c
This will dump a logcat to a text file on your internal storage (the last command just clears the log so the next part will be more effective). Name it something recognizable.
Then, disconnect and reconnect the adapter to replicate the problem. Then, reenter the above commands (the first two, anyway; the last isn't necessary here) to create a second log file, also clearly labelled.
Now, just go to the CM github and file a bug report. You may have to make an account or something. Just be sure to explain every detail of the problem clearly and include the logs.
Since I haven't seen much MHL talk in the CM10 thread, I'm assuming it's not widely used and that the CM devs haven't used the feature enough to sufficiently test it, and they will require user testing like this to fix the problem.

Not the solution I wanted, but I guess it's the only one available. Thanks.

As of right now CM10/10.1 does not support MHL. I am trying to figure out the best way to request that feature from the CM team, or from a local Sprint Dev.

Galaxy Nexus USB Not Working

Hi! I tried connecting my phone to my pc today and it wouldn't connect (and I don't see the notification on the phone). I tried with another other pc and different USB cables with no luck. Is there any solution to this ?
Thanks

Try ever so carefully bending the usb port up towards the screen. Maybe with a tooth pich so you do not scratch anything. My SGS2 did this and after tweaking I had ZERO issues.
I just tried that it sometimes works now (rarely though ). I also noticed that the phone charges its just the MTP that isnt working
Same issue...
Went to root my Gsm gnex... Couldn't connect to the pc...
And now whenever I go into gallery it force closes... Could it be an issue with the internal storage?

Not sure I've had my phone rooted since the start of this year...I also reflashed a different ROM (full data wipe) so I don't think it's software related

Is there any chance that you've got fast-charge enabled (say if you're running a kernel that allows it and some script starts it upon boot?)? If so, then USB Storage or MTP isn't going to work and isn't supposed to until you do this:
1) take it out of fast-charge mode (like with .. trickster mod or an "#echo 0 > /sys/.. {wherever it goes, have to google it},
2) unplug USB
3) plug it back in
4) hopefully it'll work if that was the problem.
Just a thought and it's happened to me. I use a script I wrote on boot to enable fast USB charge and another from userspace to disable fast charge so I can see the drive.
Good luck.

I use Trinity Kernel and I made sure fast charge is disabled. I even flashed from Rasbean to CM10 to make sure it isnt related to the Rom or kernel. I'm guessing it might have something to do with the usb port in the phone as sometimes it connects but disconnects after a while
Thanks anyways

Ah well, too bad. I guess if you need to get to your PC and don't mind reduced speeds, you could always use a cifs (common internet file system) aware kernel, (faux or air I think, maybe more), then use cifsmanager to mount whatever PC share you like and transfer over the air for now.

Or use ADBWiFi
Connect with:
Code:
adb connect ip:port
(Given via the App)
Also...post three of my guide ↓Has a return to stock and locked guide if you need to get a warranty exchange.
I have this issue with one of the many cables from replacements that i got. Its weird because like you said it charges but it doesn't connect. And I've noticed that if I use that cable to charge my phone it takes for ever to charge. But if I use one of the others it charges like a lightning striking the ground
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
just not your case but if you have a pattern lock might not recognize your phone. Try setting the pattern of sliding
checked driver installation on both PC's ????
hardware issue?
I did some research and came to conclusion that it is most likely a hardware issue. I had tried bending the pin inside the USB port but that didn't do the trick for me and seems to be a rather unreliable solution. I found a guide to replace the port yourself on ifixit. Since I don't own the tools and am not very good in repairing those things myself I had mobiletechvideos do it for me (i'm not allowed to post a link but you'll find it by googling for it).
It's a fair price for not having to do it myself and risking serious damage to the device. I got my phone back after 9 days and since then it has been working like a charm.
Anyway, it sucks that the micro usb port is that fragile and got damaged so easily in the first place.
I had connect problem and everyone kept saying i needed to install drivers and sending me to toolkits. I KNEW drivers installed. Turned out to be the usb inf file in sdk only had nexus one, ns4g, and the 7 wrote in. I copied the gnex info to the file and rebooted computer. Worked perfectly. Didn't even get the new hardware popup.
*Shaolin Shadowboxing*
I've been using trinity and noticed that sometimes it doesn't recognize the USB when plunged in after it's been up for awhile... Something happens when it's been on for awhile I don't know if it is fast charge related or not..
My solution... reboot the phone with the USB plugged in.. works EVERYTIME...

Ouya Not Booting Properly

SO I have attempted to contact Ouya over the past few months with ZERO response. I'm hoping someone here can help.
So first up. I have no Internet where my Ouya is located. It had internet when I first got it and worked fine without it.
I have an Ouya and it worked flawlessly up until it would no longer get to the main splash screen. It kept asking for a wifi connection that HAD to have internet. Never did that before.
Then a few days later it would no longer boot properly. It now just sits at the little Ouya circle forever. We attempted to wait 3 days before giving up and shut it off. When I plug in a USB keyboard and attempt a ALT + PNT SCN + i the ouya just freezes.
Anyone able to help me out?
EDIT: I want to point out that I can connect the Ouya to my Windows 8 system and see all the files on the console.

If you havent installed adb yet => do it. After this you can use adb to start applications on your box. For beeing able to start an app it seems like you need to unzip the apk and look into the apps xml file to figure out the name of the method for starting it. (I really dont get it why there is no standard entry point for android apps?!) You can start system setup, an alternative launcher (Nova launcher works pretty) good and go into system settings for changing you wireless setup. Best is probably you hook youre box up somewhere with an 10Base-T Cable and configure the ethernet on the box.
Its said on the Ouya HP that this bug might result from a wrong clock setting. So you might want to check this before you do anything else. I had the same problem and did go away after hooking up my box via ethernet and reboot it a couple of times.
(I am pretty new to adb/ouya n stuff so there might be better solutions)

Solved: Joying - Mirrorlink Stopped Working After Flash

Hey guys, I have searched high and low for a solution to this problem but have come up empty so far. I just got a joying head unit and everything, including the easy connected app, seemed to work without issue. I decided well since I had the headunit running next to my pc that I would flash Malaysk's custom rom before installing it. After that, I reinstalled the app from various sources including the oem app but none of them seem to allow me to connect my same exact devices anymore.
Why is this important for me? I had planned on controlling a tablet in the back seat for my son who is still to young to put on show without trouble. Essentially, this would allow me to never have to reach back there to help him out.
I have read, from joying, that it would no longer work after flashing new firmware but that seemed to not be the case from some things I had read here (please correct me if I am wrong on that). Tried different cables and ports but no luck. I did read that a license might need to be carried over but not sure what that entails as I can find ZERO info on this easy connected app/problem. I hope that this is a very simple fix and that I did not jump the gun again for the chance to flash a new device (its addicting and I blame XDA for my problems...).
I did try and find some other apps that might allow me to do the same thing. RemoDroid seemed promising but didn't function. Most other ones are meant for controlling from a pc or browser and just weren't useful for the task at hand. I am open to solid suggestions. I use all Android devices and avoid the Apple juice. Any insight you guys can offer will help a tired Dad out. Thanks!
Edit: Solved-ish
The easy connect app seems to function now intermittently. Not sure there was a specific thing that I did to fix it. Seems to work when I launch easy connect app right after booting up and nothing else. Messing with other apps seems to cause a problem for my devices. Also, switching between my devices(phone and tablet) may also have been causing a problem, not sure yet. I suppose I'll just keep trying to make it work reliably until I break it again.
On the previous version of the easy connect app, you were able to disable Drive Mode from launching. Not so on the newer version with Android WiFi. If anyone has a solution to that I would appreciate it as the Drive Mode app is useless for my needs.
Note 4 - USB - works great. I have yet to try over wifi
Note 10.1 N8013(lollipop rom) - USB/Wifi - works great (disable smooth mode, remote device screen cannot be turned on with easy connect "Home" button)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...1024x600-rk3188-joying-try-uploading-t3262030
I tried several different apk's but they all have similar results and end with a connection failure.
I haven't yet tried going back to stock firmware so that might be worth trying. I installed the headunit in my car so I'm not as willing to keep flashin it as I have to park down the street from my house.
So not sure what magic I used but I was able to get it working for a moment and then it stopped again. USB and Wifi android mirroring were working so I know my current firmware/setup is functional!! Once I got it working I started configuring some other apps and when I went to run it again it wasn't connecting. I guess I'll just keep messing with it until I can figure out what got it working again.
With the newer version of the easy connected app, I can no longer disable launching of drive mode on connect. Is there a way to disable that option with the 1.4 version?
Hi.
Is it possible mirror in wifi with android?
Can you explain the way?

Brookstone mp300a projector

Hello all! I would like to ask you guys for some help. I just bought mentioned projector (see subject), and it seems its running some android tv system. I would like to get the latest system possible but i fail to get anything...it seems that projector is no longer supported and i cant find anything literally in the internet. I even wrote to brookstone company but they are not knowing anything either...
Things i was able to find is that current compilation number/build is:
KOT49H.20170626_163421_V1.1.3
I tried to tap multiple times multiple options in the projector to get into developper mode - no effect. Update through system fails as it cant connect to the server (i guess its off due to no further support).
The only thing i managed to find is that its the same projector as ioChow i04 and similar to miroir m220. Unfortunately for these two i also fail to get any info...
Is there anyway to "read" projectors spec through any app, or programme from PC perspective?
I also can disassemble the whole projector to check chip or whatever is on motherboard if this would help anyhow.
In general it works greats connecting with HDMi but i also would like to try make it work as standalone (if possible).
Any suggestions or help you can offer - i would appreciate!! . Thank you!
Hey! I just dug up my projector and decided to do some research on it and found your thread through google.
Unfortunately, I do not think you can do anything further than what is on the projector itself. The build of android used is naturally stripped down, and I don't think its possible to "push it" past it's limits (at least on the software side of things ). But who knows? Maybe someday we'll see someone smarter than me exploit some vulnerability, for now I can only hope.
Sorry that this reply wasn't very helpful. I just mainly wanted to let you know that you aren't the only one wanting to get the most out of this thing

Question Getting Android to Use Linux-USB Ethernet/RNDIS Gadget

Hello All,
I'm new to this forum, so I'm not really sure if this should be general, dev, or just a technical question. Also I'm a software dev, but am not too familiar with android other than lightly using Android Studio for app dev.
Basically my problem comes down to this. I use a custom OpenWrt device as an ethernet dongle for my laptops by loading the g_ether driver. I would like to do this for an android phone as well. Right now I'm trying the s20 and s22 (pretty sure whatever solution I come to will work for both); however, when I plug my dongle in, the phone will see the dongle with all the correct device descriptors and all that, but will not connect and attempt to get an IP.
My current guess is that the phone just doesn't have the right drivers on there (cdc_ether or cdc_subset), or that it is not loading them.
Thus far I've tried poking around with termux, but have not gotten too far. I was hoping this community may be able to help me figure out how to get the phone to use the dongle.
Lastly, would really rather not root the phone unless completely necessary.
Thank you all for any advice!
