Saw an iphone commercial and usually I just laugh at their silliness in thinking they are so great but this one caught by eye and was wondering if our phone can do this. . They had a big Line of people which of course wouldn't fit in a picture so they like either took a bunch of pictures or videod the group and then made 1 big long picture. . I was impressed. .

I think your reffering to panoramic...and yes the phone has it. If not...could you try locating the commercial on YouTube for us all to see? Keep in mind also, 4.2 features the photo sphere option.
*edit*
I just looked on YouTube and the only thing I could think of is the commercial with all the children in costumes, and that is a panoramic.
To activate it tap settings in the camera app, then press on "Shooting mode" and select panorama. Hope this helps you.

That commercial is stupid and yes we can do that via panorama mode.
Never doubt android again!
The Note 2 can do that. I've only tried it once so far and it did an ok job... I'll have to try again in a less mathematical place... I think it got a little overwhelmed by the ceiling in our Moon Garden at work...
android had been able to do it for quite a while... if anything the new nexus should come with 360 panorama (I'm not kidding look it up) which means you can take a perfectly spherical photo
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
my buddy jumped in front of the camera not sure why it cut off his hand. It still worked out.
The feature works great if you don't have movement between frames, here is one I took at the Alamo this weekend, you'll see the static objects are quite nice, it even stitched the stone ground together well, however some of the moving people look like ghosts.
I thought the photo sphere on the new 4.2 camera works extremely well.

I thanked you because your scolding of him made me laugh real Fking hard... Thanks. Funny he didn't just type panorama in the market or even check the settings in his phone. That just shows the power of apple how they make people think they invented things that have existed for centuries. I remember people acting all shocked when I offered them touch screen alternative devices at T-mobile when the iphone first came out; They were all like "there are other touch screen phones?"... Fking CRAZY!
He.. is a she.. she did not know it was called panorama or she would have looked it up herself. I do appreciate the info and your right. .shame on me for doubting Android

cool forum... love my droid Galaxy S3 and my Galaxy tablet.
I was googling this photo attachment product i saw on gizmag.com called Mobi-Lens and i found a couple of posts on this site about it so i thought id share it.
Us Android users dont get much gadgets/photo-accessories... this seems legit, even if you own an different manufacturer then Samsung, im sure it will work.
I got a red combo $60, beats my friends $80 olliclip for his iPhone... PLUS he has to remove his case every time AND only use the back side camera... SUCKER haha.
Now i dont have to lug around my DSLR when i go hiking or biking for some nice scenic photos.
just search mobi-lens on kickstarter.com or google it.
Welcome! Ya this is one of the best if not the best forum for all things mobile specially Androids!
I checked the item you speak off before and its cool however ill wait till it goes onto production as it is still under kickstarter phase.
Nevertheless our S3s have some amazing camera options, just wish it had SlowMotion video i myself had a One S after my S2 before I had my S3 and that was the only reason I miss the one s lol

I been searching for.some time now for any educational apps for my 18 months son with little luck.
Most apps are geared towards older children, not to mention not too many have child lock on them to prevent children from hitting capacitive buttons.Seem like all good children's apps or on ipad/iPhone and I won't to avoid this option if I can help it.
Anyone know of any good apps?
Here are few apps that I have so far that are usefull and not too complicated for children that are 1-3 years old.
1 Toddle Animal Numbers (Probably the best one,its educational and its free)
2 Undersea Adventure for Toddler (Not really educational but a fun and simple game, and its free)
3 Kids Doodle Paint (Best thing about this is that it has child's lock built in,so you can go to sleep while they draw and not have to worry about them turning it off, this one is free too)
And that's about it,yeah I know that's a damn shame.Rest that I tried is to complex.
The sprout app is a good app i use

Apps by intellijoy.
Also, there are lots of interactive books by people like "Oceanhouse media" (the book reads and the child interacts with the page.)
This is a good thread, I have an app called "kid mode" that has a lot of stuff in it, my 18 mo old daughter likes it.

They are toddlers...
They can take your iPad, S3 or whatever you have before you blink. So its better find them with the phone in theirs hands than see your gadgets on the toilet or trash can because they got bored.
Thats why also I have a Otter Defender.

If I had kids I would. Getting them a grasp of new things at an early age is important and most useful for the future. Smartphones are only materialistic items so I wouldn't care really unless they're looking at things they aren't supposed too.

Monkey Preschool Lunchbox (His absolute FAVORITE!)
Color & Draw for kids phone ed
Kids Connect the Dots Lite
Thomas Game Pack
Kids Piano Lite
Zebra Paint

And here is the toddler lock I used to use before he really knew how to handle a phone.
Toddler Lock
When my daughter was 18 months old she liked learning animal sounds, She particularly liked the cat on this one Toddler Animal Sounds by Bluphant Games, They also do a paid for version which has a child lock built in it.
Now she's 3 however it's Peppa Pig all the way!

nice, but I felt a little underwhelmed. I agree there is power in the phone to be PC replacement. I didn't watch the whole vdieo, so I don't know if he discussed the short comings of what can and can't be done compared to the PC. It's not the fault of the phone, but more Android and the way apps are designed.
With that said, we may see these things replace the cheap PC in the future. Bablysteps....babysteps

I got the Note 2 for use with note taking so I use mine every day.
Other than that, I take it out to mess around with and tag pictures. I also do a lot of support for Android devices so the screenshot feature + tagging with the S-Pen makes my life so much easier.
There aren't enough worthwhile apps to really take full use of the S-Pen that don't have to do with notes or drawing.
There are some "games" that support stylus use. Maybe you can use that.
Either way, you still have a great device. Biggest screen and faster processor than most phones out there.
Yea def I love this bad boy ive done a lil doodling on my gf face myself lol i love the crop feature as well and nores for school or work how well is it vs using a larger tablet?

I do network diagrams as part of my job, and it comes in handy when I have to draw something out for the techs and don't have the actual diagrams available. Need a Visio editor for Android, though, that would be real nice. I have also found it useful to take a screenshot of a map and annotate positions of equipment, satellite aiming, and other things during site surveys.
Couple times a day, I mainly use it as a mouse for web browsing and remote desktop.

I make my shopping lists with SNote and use the pen to scratch off items as I put them in the cart. I also use the Square card reader to accept charge cards, and the pen works better than a finger for signing.

I mostly only use it when I'm texting. The S pen with a "gesture" keyboard like swype is way faster than typing any other way once you get good at it.
I use as a mouse when Web surfing.. Especially those drop down for a drop down menu
Jotting down little notes when out and about (the biggest use I get out of it) it's been many of times I needed to write down something and didn't have a pen, paper, nothing in sight
-TeaM VeNuM Like A Boss
-Galaxy Note II Edition
Fairly often. I like that I can sign PDFs using the S Pen.
I used to use it much more than I do now that we have a Samsung Keyboard Autocorrect hack that works in S-Notes. I can honestly thumb-type faster than I can hand-write and all the text is searchable. It is good for scrawling down the occasional phone number on the fly but the autocorrect is amazingly accurate. However if I were a student or in a meeting I would hand-write much more so as not to annoy everyone around me with frantic typing.
You can get the autocorrect baked in with a rom like Whompasaurus Rom V2.7 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2039564).
I do use the pen quite often as a pointer though. Nice for clicking tiny links or web surfing without smudging the screen.
I am looking forward to the Note 8.0. It should be just the right size for hand-writing and thumb-typing.
** Even though I no longer use it much, I like that fact that it is THERE if I need it. It's like having a car that can go zero to 60 in 4 seconds. 99% of the time you don't need the power but when you didn't see that semi in your blindspot and you need to get out of the way you are glad it's there.

I guess the key thing about the pen is it just adds and extra layer of functionality to your smart phone. It makes your smart phone smarter.

Have you ever tried it long enough to become familiar with it? I'm definitely not asking you that to attack you over your opinion or anything (because you're definitely entitled to your own opinion), I was just wondering because I effin love Next Launcher. I don't just like it because it looks really cool though (it's just an awesome bonus lol) because I could care less about showing off my phone, I actually like it because of all the added functionality it provides on top of giving you the ability to fine tune everything the way you like, and call me crazy but I honestly think it's even worth it for the original price.
