Hey guys,
I'm on the latest AOKP, 11/18, and was wondering how I can access the MusicFX options?
When I install Equalizer from the Store, the option will appear there under sounds, giving me the option to select between the two.
I guess I was wondering if CM/AOKP ROMs had a built on equalizer, or a way for us to mess with the sound?
Thanks!

Download DSP manager, comes with cm10 I believe. You should be able to tweak your sound. I personally use team acids sound mods, you can find it in att apps and themes

Hey! Thanks for the reply! This is what you're using:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1883317
For some reason the posted download link doesn't work and I'm having a hard time finding the install file as well as instructions. Can you point me in the right direction by chance?
Thanks!
Newest acid mod is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34359822
But really read op in entirety until you understand how and what to install.
You want the aroma download, and beats audio when it asks you in the installer.
Good luck!

Thanks for the advice dude!! What would you recommend doing with V2 that I currently have installed? Would you clean wipe first? I don't see how I can uninstall it. I disabled everything and then cleared all data. Then into recovery, wiped cache and dalvik, then I flashed V5. Seems to be working okay.. but I haven't had a chance to play with it just yet. What are your steps when you update?

I clean wiped, installed ROM,reboot, install gapps(I always use justunbean apps),reboot. Check that everything is OK, install kernel(if needed), last install acid mod following on screen direction. You can download the addons at the link I provided but you lose beats audio(DSP).
Should be good after that. Just wipe dalvik and cache after each install.(fix permissions too if kernel)

Hey man! Thanks again for the reply!
So, on the train ride back home, I tried playing with DSPManager, and no matter what setting I change, I don't hear any different in the quality of music. Using my own music app, or the Walkman that comes with it. Did you experience anything like this before? Do I need to reboot the app every time I make a change, or can I hear the changes while my music is playing?
Do u have music fx or any other eq install led? Look In manage apps that's probably causing problems
Quick test go into walkman hit menu and clearaudio+ you should hear a significant audio quality boost. Also in the Dolby app mark if you are using speaker or headphones

I have MusicFX, that I believe came with AOKP. Is there a way I can remove that? Or do I just disable it?
Under the SOUND settings, I did change it from MusicFX to DSPManager. Did I need to do more than that?

Cool mang! I'll try that out! I think a fresh/clean install might be in order.
I have a feeling I'm going to go through all the time and effort getting all set up again, just to have 4.2 released moments later. Always seems to be my luck.

Hey man. So I Titanium removed MusicFX.apk, and now the option under Settings>Sound doesn't has been removed. I'm assuming that if there is only one sound effect thing, it'll detect it as default and simply not display the option since there is just the one. Does that make sense? In either case, I removed it, reboot the phone and I'm still not noticing the equalizer making any difference. I think I might have to wait for a clean wipe.
I did, however, just notice that a Dolby Digital sound thing has also been installed onto my device. Did I select that by accident? Could that be causing issues here? Maybe I'll try removing it?
Thanks!

Yes there is now no tab under sound because there is only one option to display.
You should be fine now of you removed music fx and all other EQs BEFORE you flashed acid. If not you should probably do so. If you hit clear audio plus from walkman you should see a big difference in quality. Awesome beats should also notice that on the eq you get varied sounds when switching the presets.

Hey dude! So, this weekend, I didn't have much to do and decided to do a full wipe of my device and install AC!D as per your instructions and everything processed without any issues. That said, when I'm listening to music using Walkman, when I try to access AwesomeBeats to adjust the EQ for headphones, as soon as I enable EQ, the volume will drop considerably and then the music will skip (like CD Walkmans did back in the end on a bumpy road) and I can't seem to fix it. I even tried removing AOKP's MusicFX.
I was experiencing the same issue last time, without the wipe. Did you have this issue at any point?
Thanks!

Hey man! I just had a few questions about the steps. I followed the instructions, but I'm still getting the popping sounds.
1. When I start, what settings should I be on? Should I make the popping sounds happen before I start the steps? You say to play a song, but should I play it normally, or with the popping sound? If normally, should I be on AwesomeBeats, or should I be on MusicFX?
2. Should clear audio be checked in the end, or not?
Thanks for the clarification man!
Only use if low audio or popping.
Play a song with walkman
Go into phone setting
Hit sound
The select sound enhancements
Back to walkman(song still playing with pop)
Hit music effects
Select sound enhanements
Should be drastically improved audio
Then hit clear audio plus
After that you can just go change eq back in phone settings to beats or w/e. Leave clear Audio on.

Ok so I gave tried faux kernel, ktoons and lean kernel. All have either resulted in boot loops, not booting or breaking Bluetooth. I have searched and searched. I have tried all the gimmicks and still nothing. I have tried different rom's as well afoul the same. All of them break Bluetooth. I'm using the att version of the GS3. My last thoughts are possibly flashing back to stock then re-rooting my phone. Would this help? Any suggestions would be more than welcome. I'm not a noob when it comes to android. I was a dev for the droid x so please don't hesitate to give me everything you got. thanks in advance for your help and hopefully I can run a kernel soon without issues.

AOSP or TW? What ROMs? KT747 doesn't seem to break mine (AOKP, Liquid and Slim). MOTD just didn't cooperate with me, so I dunno about non-stock TW ROMs.

I try so hard to like tw but I just can't stay away from aosp. So only aosp. Faux's kernel works best for me but breaks Bluetooth, ktoons does random reboots no matter what I try and it breaks Bluetooth, and lean kernel doesn't even boot up. I have tried all 3 on aokp, paranoid android, collective, paranoid kang droid, code fire, code name, and cm10. All do the same thing.
By the way when I say it breaks Bluetooth I mean it makes a horrible crackling noise through my car speakers and reboots when I get a phone call. It still connects with ease.

As stated by ktoonsez before. There are known cases where his kernel will not work with peoples phones, some people have even warrantied there phone because of this problem. I am sure this goes without saying for the other kernels as well. You may just have an unlucky numbered phone that can't handle custom kernels and you might be stuck with stock. I figure that even if Bluetooth isn't working the pros for a kernel must outweigh the cons for me to even consider flashing it. And as you can see below, for me, it works.

I definitely have considered my phone being one of the faulty ones. Seems weird that some phones don't work with kernels? It almost seems like their is a fix that needs to be found. That's why I was curious if flashing back to stock and then re-rooting might fix the issue. I figured I would create this thread to see if some one found a way to use them.

mine is working without any issues... ive tried kt and lean(still on lean) and havent had any issues... btw a bit off topic how the hell do you still have an IMEI with all that flashing? lol im scared ****less of loosing it whenever i flash anything...
anyways... maybe try going back to bare stock, try if it works then... if it does then, root and load a custom kernel on the stock rom... if then it doesnt work then we know its your device that doesnt like custom kernels...

So have I tried several different 4.2 roms and DSP, awesome beat, acid audio, all with the same results. When I initially install google play music the sound is great, as soon as I advance the track or power cycle the rom, the same eq settings are giving me an over driven result. Lowering the volume doesn't have any effect and only a near flat eq will kill the over driven sound.
I have seen people slammed for for running to much bass boost and this is definitely not the cause in my case. With some roms I can wipe the app data and force closing google music will fix it for one song. Is this a known issue?

Well when I was running Aosp I was using the 4/5 rootbox nightly with KT kernel and kingbeatz. You can find king beats by googling kingbeatz s3. Remember to fully wipe and stuff so there no problems. Have great sound. Also use faux audio control
That worked worked perfectly. Thanks
There is something i really dont understand about the touchwiz roms compared to the jelly bean 4.2.2 roms in original development.. i listen to alot of music and i also play a few games here and there i have a deactivated device... but i love the overclocking and undervolting features from every rom that i can flash agat's recovery and kernel or blu kuban's kernel also (usually have it clocked to 50mhz-up to 1600mhz at the tops side because it runs like a dream) heres the problem yes i love having that feature but what kills it for me is i usually uninstall as much as i can from what i dont need in it because i am also on the uscc version of the e4gt (im on the SCH-R760) and then i proceed to install vepier4android also (link is down below for whoever needs to know what it is) i run both versions of it as well (fx and xhifi) along side the full version of poweramp off the market with dvc enabled and music fx checked in poweramp everything else off besides the limiter.. i cant get over the fact of how much better it sounds with every single 4.2.2 aosp/aokp/jelly bean rom out there in original development... but in android development touchwiz roms do not like this combination at all in any way.. i cant understand what it is.. the audio cuts out sometimes, treble and vocies cut down alot when bass hits (doesnt happen in 4.2.2 at all), just doesnt sit very well together.. also to add i unistall every other eq that i see with titanium backup and push both viper apps to system apps and still the same issue.. ive tried everything under the sun but cant come to a conclusion.. its killing me not having the extra cpu headroom from agat's and would seriously love some insight/explanation or possibly some ideas on how this could be fixed i will try anything to get this to go well together in touchwiz.. i can decompile and rezip roms and mess with settings before flash i can just about do anything just need to know what is wrong or what is conflicting with them or something... please anybody that has an idea let me know i would greatly appreciate it.. thanks in advance

Samsung adds in their own audio mods in TouchWiz, it really is just testing what works with what and finding what sounds best on YOUR device. All devices are different, that's why most include an app to tweak the sound. I love the Samsung Optimized AC!D Audio on my phone, it doesn't play well with my wife's E4GT, she uses Viper on TouchWiz. I haven't tried playing with AOSP Sound in awhile but if you try any of my ROMs they all have my combo audio mod on them. I've got a lot to say on this subject but I'll let you respond to see exactly where you are going with this.

that gives me alot more insight to the problem actually thank you lots bilg. but as to where im going with this mostly is i would love it so much to have touchwiz with alot of it taken out and zero audio mods so that the viper4android can be installed to where there is no issues like what i was receiving with me trying it or if there is a way to remove the tweaks from build.prop or elsewhere im sure i can do it myself i just dont know where everything that deals with audio mods (etc. acid audio) is located. and of course one of the overclocking kernels that reach 1600mhz or close (etc, agats and blu kuban kernel)

One concern: during the initial boot, I waited about 5 minutes until I decided I'd reflash it. But, I didn't reflash it, because the moment I hit the power button, the home screen showed up.
Pertinently, I flashed Liberty 1.22 with the ROM.

You're dandy welcome.
Also of extremely minor concern: I think it flashed with both the LG Alarm/Clock and the AOSP style Clock. Woo.
EDIT: Speaking of which, if I try to edit either of the two alarms that are set as default in Clock, it crashes.
I am able to create new alarms though. ... Hope they work...
EDIT: That problem magically disappeared. Maybe I'll come back with some useful observations soon. Thanks.

One concern: during the initial boot, I waited about 5 minutes until I decided I'd reflash it. But, I didn't reflash it, because the moment I hit the power button, the home screen showed up.
Pertinently, I flashed Liberty 1.22 with the ROM.

I tried building this with Evolutionmods latest kernel, but ran into the extremely slow bootup so I went back to the stock kernel. I PMed him for help. With the stock kernel I timed the initial boot at about 2 min 10 sec.

Thanks.

I had old apps show up if I didn't wipe system before flashing.
I spent the last month tinkering with this to get it where it is at, I didn't want to post something terrible my first time out. Glad to see you guys trying and enjoying it.
Has anyone tried the viper4android effects? I thought I had it working the other night, but now I can't tell the difference with it on or off. I have been playing around with all the sound mods I can find and can't seem to get one with a noticeable difference. Either my LGOG came with great stock sound or I am doing something wrong. Any ideas?

Any of those kernels past 1.22 boots slow for me. 1.23 is where they get OC'd.
And insofar as the system app showing up when I didn't wipe system, that makes sense.

ihitcows - Let me know if you test out the sound mod. Also, are you experiencing any call problems? It might be because I use Google Voice, but my wife will call me and her phone will ring for 30 seconds and go to my GV VM and it won't even ring on my phone.

Sound mod confirmed working on speaker, headset and Bluetooth.
Though the effects are, generally, so slight on the speaker it's difficult to tell. But it does work.

Thanks, but is this sound mod better than AC!D or Beats? Like I said, I haven't noticed that much of a difference with any of them. I am still trying a couple of others, but I don't want to get rid of it if everyone likes it.

All righty. Since I was prompted to update the drivers for VIPER, and did, the headset hasn't worked. Haven't tried speaker and BT.
So, I'm gonna ditch it. But hey, it's sound. Hard to be more subjective than that!
All of the adjustments, for me, on both Beats and AC!D work, with one exception: the EQ on AC!D's Noozxoide. But I really dig its room-size adjustment.
And, dev, I appreciate the dark-themed Play Music, but I cant get it to show any content. Tried clearing data and rebooting and resyncing.

1. I think I messed up something with v4a and believe I can fix it. Fixed or new sound mod will be in the next update.
2. My player loads everything from my internal storage. It is not the same as Google play music, it is just a plain old school android music player with an updated theme. If you use Google play music you will need to download it.
I will be working on this more tomorrow and will hopefully have 1.1 tomorrow night maybe.

I'll give it a shot on the next build. Or whatever's out by the weekend. I got a stable setup I revert too but like trying new things....just need a driver for them business days.

Darndest thing just happened:
Seeing as how I still had the Alarm/Clock, etc., and notification bar and menu I had from LifeLess, I decided to reflash this ROM after wiping system. So,
I wipe data, dalvik/cache, and system, and boot into a several-minute long LG logo.
Better yet, my backup of this ROM nor of LifeLess would boot. Same thing.
... This may very well having to do with something outside the ROM that I've done. Just thought I'd mention.
EDIT: Formatted data, we're good.
Flashed it without Liberty kernel; initial boot was normal this time.
if you use evos kernel you can use faux sound to adjust sound settings and it works really well

I just recently installed the zip for Noozxoide, and it has made my sound incredibly loud, is there anyway I can adjust these settings? Thanks
Hi, I wanted to know if anyone knows why?
When I use the Noozxoide with any other Rom other than the JellyBomb rom, it absolutely does nothing to increase my sound, but when I used it with in the JellyBomb rom, holy batman did it boost my built-in speaker sound by like 200% easily. It was super loud, louder than any phone I've ever had!
Unfortunately, I am not a big of the Jellybomb rom and prefer Lab Rats, so if someone who knows what JellyBomb rom has in it that makes the Noozxoide work while all others don't, it'll be highly appreciated!
Thank you!

P.S. To the guy that started the post. When you open up the app, and say you want to increase your Built-in Audio, you click on it and it'll open settings for it. There are different settings that allow you to set it up as low, moderate, strong, very.strong, etc... plus also the equalizer settings. Just play around with it and you can adjust it so it's not on full blast like I want mine to be!

Maybe a different kernel? I know when I use labrats I use saber kernel and I get the boost.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium
Yep tried the Saber v25 kernel yesterday, as well as the Persus v36.3 which the same one that the JellyBomb rom uses, but still absolutely no sound boost, as a matter of fact the sound is ridiculously low, and the only way I get a bit of boost is with the Speaker Booster app from the market. I thought maybe I blew out my speakers or something, but then I reflashed the new version of JellyBomb and I still got that awesome sound boost from the Noozxoide app! I think that maybe the JellyBomb rom has some other kind of system app or some kind of script or mod that's giving it that boost! So I will compare all the files in both rom's zip and see if I find something JellyBomb has that the Lab Rats doesn't and then add to the Lab Rats to see if I can emulate that boost. Or maybe I'll first ask the jellyBomb's dev about it.
