[Q] Wildfire s is Softbricked someone PLEASE PLEASE HELP - HTC Wildfire S

Hey guys , I bought my wildfire s a few months ago and recently decided to change the android version . I found a optional "Rom" or how they call it ... I had a few progams rrunning at that time and something went wrong so my phone went off and on the pc it said " please connect your phone to the computer , check USB cable and so on.. ". Problem now is my phone doensn't turn on, it cant go into hardreset and the pc recognizes that a device is connected to it but it doesnt open it and there is no such thing as "removable disk f/g/whatever", there is no way to access the phones storage . I'm really tired of trying to fix it myself , Please someone help!! I would greatly appreciate it .

I have few questions:
- Is your phone unlocked?
- Did you install a custom recovery?
- Can you boot into bootloader? (Volume - + power)
---------- Post added at 03:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:07 PM ----------
Also Pleas post in the right section ffs. Read my signature " new here" one.

Is your device rooted ? Do you have the proper drivers installed ? Can you access recovery ? What rom ? Do you have custom recovery ? More information about what you have done will help.

I tried already so many times... took out battery and tried to trun it on , but nothing happened. I did that with the volume DOWN key and the power button but it didn't work either. If I press the volume UP button and the power button at the same time sometimes i get i think 5-6 vibrations and the LED turns on. I hope this helps

Hi I did brick my marvel too a couple of months ago which was s-off, rooted, with custom recovery & rom.
However since i couldn't access hboot or anyhing else I sent it to htc service and after two weeks i got it back fixed for free! The receipt caid they changed the logical chip, whatever that is, and it was covered by it's original guarantee.
So my suggestion is that if your phone won't open up at all, take it to service and tell them that you got an OTA update and that happened...you migth get lucky too!!!

Thanks for the advice , but I live in Kosovo ( southern balkan, europe) and in my country HTC doesnt officially have any store or service. Its products are imported and sold by small businesses. I don't warranty for my phone . And those guys who offer services for repairing cellphones are not trained or something , they are not professionls...so I better try fixing it myself then leave it to someone who makes stupid experiments with it and breaks it totally ...

I live in Greece and there is no official HTC shop too, I took it to Germanos (I think you have that shop there too). It's where I bought it from and they sent it to service.

[Q] A few questions related to Hard Brick and QHSUSB_DLOAD

I am now owner of what may very well be a Hard Bricked Samsung Galaxy S3 with the inability to reach Download Mode and computer not recognizing my handheld. It ll happen't as I unlocked my bootloader to go in fastboot mode, it was then, all over. But of course as desperate as it may look like I've done some researches on Google and some people with different models managed to have some magic done in a situation like mine, but since I didn't own the same device the solutions were of no avail for me. So my question is, is there any sort of trickery to help me come out of this misery? Such as force installing new QHSUSB_DLOAD specifically for a Samsung Galaxy S3 or some battery related magic that could help me reach Download Mode where I could flash a stock rom back in and get back to normal? Any help would be much appreciated.
this just happened to me as well today, not to happy, my heart sank in, did u find any solutions as far as fixing this qhusb thing?
AFAIK there is no fix, same deal on all phones with the same SoC, like the one x. I could be way wrong though and I hope I am. Hope you guys get up and running soon.

Most likely they will say that you voided your warranty so you may have to take it in to a JTAG service.

Any update on this? My phone did this to me last night when updating CWM. I'm about to go to Radio Shack to buy some resisters to see if I can force download mode, like on Captivates.
EDIT: Even though this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrZUrE5Nqj0) shows that the Jig works with the GS3, I was not successful in putting it into download mode. I was able to with my captivate, just to make sure I was on the correct pins.
Hopefully the AT&T store will just swap it out and leave it at that, since I pay for insurance...I don't want to have to send it away to mobiletechvideos.com for JTAG repair, but will if necessary.

Regardless of where the phone came from the end result is still the same... you guys are hard bricked. The only available solutions to you atm (and trust me on this I hard bricked mine aswell) is
A - Send your phone in for warrenty/insurance, dont worry about everyone saying you cant because of voided warrenty... your bootloader is screwed and they wouldnt be able to tell anything about rooting/cwm etc.
B - if warrenty/insurance is unavailable to you then your only other options are to send it to samsung to get it repaired on your own dime. Or save yourself a bit of money and send it for jtag repair which is what I did. If you live in the states the guy can have your phone back in your hands usually within 4-5 business days.
hi there
i have an SDcard of 4GB i tried on 4 S3 i747M hard bricked phones its worked ....this card let them alive to download mode by pressing volume down key +home key + power. i want to share this image but when ever i connect this card to my PC (windows) its shows (need to format your card)
is there any software so i can make image and share...to help those who hard-bricked their phones.

I reject your reality, and substitute my own! Ah, anyway.. any updates on this? Its been a year or so.. I have the sprint s3, but i believe it had an insecure boot image flashed to it. The emmc boot method has failed me thus far. Not sure if it's because mine is a 32gb and the debrick files for for 16gb '(which shouldn't matter), if the board for my 32gb is affected by a brick bug, or what.. The qpst tool just seems like it's the perfect tool to fix a bad bootloader on any qualcomm phone, but all the guides I've found are for other phones still. I accidentally dd'd an image of my EFS partition to the sbl2 partition. I looked up the international s3 table by mistake

Yes. Download a live linux distro, like knopix or such. Any linux distribution will work, really. Then in a terminal you would do something like
Code:
sudo dd if=/dev/sdX of=debrick-image.img
Where the "X" in "sdX" corresponds to the sdcard you want to copy. After you insert the card, in a terminal do:
Code:
dmesg | tail
and you should be able to see that it is sdb, sdc, sdd, etc. Google the usage of "dd" if you need more info.
Thanks for info i'll try this today

[Q] I've some questions before Rooting my first Android phone

Hi all, ..
I've decided to root my One X but before that I want to know some things and ask some questions:-
1- What are all the side effects for unlocking the bootloader & rooting the device ??
2- After we root the device could we return the phone as it came exactly from the factroy ?? means locked again .. no root .. all side effects will disappear ??
3- What are the difference between Hboot & Bootloader ??
4- Are Kernal & Boot Image are exactly the same ??
5- What is Fastboot exactly ??
Sorry for my questions but it the first time I'll root my phone so I want to take care
And thanks in advance
Please .. Any help !!

1 - There are no side effects that come from rooting the phone, the side effects can arise when you flash a dirty rom, but thats the joys of rooting I guess. Trying different roms/kernels until you find the combination you love.
2- After rooting, you cannot go completely back. Instead of your bootloader saying Locked, it will say RE-Locked, so they will know something is up. But apparantly if the issue is hardware caused, such as the WiFi issue, then I think they still repair under warranty.
3 - To be honest I can't answer that one, im sorry !
4 - No they are not the same, a Kernel is what communicates with the hardware, and passes that information back to the software and vice versa. Without the kernel, the hardware/software would have no way of communicating.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=ROM-VS-Kernel
5 - Fastboot is how you modify your bootloader, which is how you flash the boot.img in order to not make the phone bootloop when installing a custom rom.
Hope thats helpful !
Hi the only bad side effects are if you do something wrong
You can return back to stock usein ruu's but not back to locked
Ye a boot.IMG is a kernel and I no of some noob friendly tools to help you unlock and fastboot kernels without having to do it manual wich helps
If you won't help through all the steps I'm welcome to help

So, actually, the boot.img is a binary file, that contains the kernel and the ramdisk.
mmmmmmm I'm now confused !!
According to:-
1- I know the rooting will make the warranty gone and also I won't be able to update OTA !! so how to avoid these problems
2- There are difference between Locked & Relocked ?? And if I relocked my phone the warranty will come back & I'll be able to update OTA ??
3- No one had answered me !!
4- I have three different answeres !!
5- I still don't know the meaning of Fastboot
And thanks to every one who had answered .. +1 thanks to every one
And I hope thant you answer me ...

1/2) You can unlock to install OTA. Even if you lose warranty, you are usually protected by consumer law in your country.
3) Spelling
4) I'm right, if you keep asking, you'll have 4 answers
5) Fastboot is a setting that allows you to more quickly boot your phone. It also breaks some apps.
5) Fastboot is a tool for flashing bootloader and recovery on your phone, as well as other diagnostic tasks.

3- Okay
4- hahahaha .. Okay

+1 for your help
there is no difference between locked and relocked. Relocked means you had unlocked the bootloader and Now htc knows about it.
You can not flash custom roms from stock recovery, Since there is no option to flash the zip files. For that you need to install CWM

Yes there is a problem.. by unlocking the bootloader you may void your warranty. By this means Htc have the authority to reject your warranty claims. But at some places they accept the relocked bootloader under the warranty. It all depends on place, service center.. and the answer of your 2nd ques would be yes.. you could do it as many times you want. And you could also get the official OTA updates. So decision is yours.. check your phone for any defect. Then think about unlocking the bootloader.

I have a small question .. how could I know that my phone comes with warranty ?? as I bought the phone from eBay without warranty but in the box there is a Warranty Statement !!
warranty statement does not matter.. If you have the bill you may contact HTC if your phone comes under warranty or not?
but since you bought it without warranty.. So I doubt there would be any chance that it may come under any sort of warranty.

Okay Okay >> THANKS
Hboot is your bootloader. Like you get different types of bios menu for different pcs
Hboot is your bootloader not anything else. there are different hboots out there but they are all bootloaders (you could call it bios).
This means they tell your phone what to do when you press the power on button when it's off or you hold the volume down key and power on

The phone was released end of march or april I believe. In that case you have warranty till March april 2014 by default as all phones come with 2 year warranty and your phone cannot possible be older than march as it was not available before then. So every single one x without a receipt had warranty till 2 years from release date
Even HTC know that so don't worry.

I don't believe that to be true, for the first two years of a phone released, you can do without the bill receipt. If you were say to buy a HTC Desire HD a year ago brand new, as its 3 years old the build now; the receipt would be needed to prove you bought it within the last 2 years and not on release. But for a phone that has just been released you do not need to prove this, even HTC know you couldnt have had it more than 6 months
Are there any disadvantages of unlocking the bootloader to root?
As custom ROMs/bootloaders will not be able to receive OTA updates from HTC, is there anything that an update from HTC can do which custom ROMs cannot. (e.g. low level power management and performance enhancement stuff)?

OMG!!!!
HBoot = the partition table on your phone. It's essentialy the way that the internal space is partitioned.
If you have let's say 5Gb of internal memory then yoy can partition it let's say like this:
1. System - 1Gb - where your ROM is installed
2. Cache - 2Gb - the cache for the sys apps and apps installed on internal
3. Data - The rest - where the apps are installed.
But to be perfectly honnest I really don't know why there would be any talk about HBoot as long we don't even have S-Off even, whem that is manditory.
As for the bootloader... That is the procces of booting the operating system in android, or any other OS. This tells the phone what to boot and what to start and in what order....
Hope it helps some of you.
Talking about HBoot I really don't think we'll be needing a different one any time soon as the sys partition is more then enought for the existing ROMs out there... for now at least. This was used mostly when you would've had a internal memory like 512 Mb and you'd use a sd-card's EXT2/EXT3 partition as internal memory for cache or data...
Hope it's more helpfull than confussing.
Rgds.

There are 3 options, but aren't they for other Optimus versions than E975? Which do you prefer?
The thing is i can't go download mode cause i already have unlocked bootloader and it gets me to fastboot mode. I unlocked it with Freegee but the backup is gone. Is there any possibility to lock bootloader? The phone is fully working, only thing is yellow tints on screen and i wanted to get it back on warranty.

It can be true. I bought it used in my country from some shop. I think they have replaced the screen with new one. I talked with the shop owner and he told me that he checked the screen before sending me and it was ok, but if i want i can send them phone back so they will replace it with new one(but he didn't tell me that it was replaced already at all). But now i'm in trouble and i don't know if i can lock bootloader without EFS Backup :/ If u have any ideas, tell me please.

Maybe, but he wrote on his warantee card that changing firmware void the warantee. So if i send him the phone back, i don't think he will want to replace screen with new one(which is quite expenisve) when he will see europe open firmware(i had brand before) with bootloader unlocked... i will just lost money sending him phone.
About yellow tints, i heard that iphones had similar problem, it was caused by glue between screen and digitizer or somewhere else, and tints disappeared after few days of using, but i can't tell if my LG will be the same.
use kdz updater and that's it. flash the original firmware the phone came with.it takes 5 minutes.

Is there any possibility to lock bootloader? The phone is fully working, only thing is yellow tints on screen and i wanted to get it back on warranty.

Very strange! After using freege for unlocking bootloader and flashing CWM Recovery, I got a Kernel error. I tried to flash KDZ in download mode, but after start flashing process my phone reboot in fastboot. Are you in the same situation?
If u can get into recovery mode, you can flash any working ROM and then try the old version of freegee to avoid kernel errors. The update version from playstore gives this kernel error, since it flashes the bootloader of nexus4. But I think, the playstore version should be fixed by now... better to check it... search for the old version of freegee posted by davevinci...
Lol guys i'm very stupid... you can go into download mode by holding volume + and - and starting the phone. Then you can reflash it with stock firmware in LG Support Tool under emergency options or something like that(i'm not using english version so i don't know how it sounds in english) or with KDZ Updater. Ofc my phone is fully working, all i want is to get back to stock settings.
You already had the answer...use the damn kdz updater to flash stock firmware, then perform a hard reset. end of story. why the drama??why do you guys don't read the whole story?why don't you learn how to revert the changes you make BEFORE starting doing them?

[Q] Stuck in fastboot mode!

hi guys, i got a new HTC ONE M8 from China Mobile 3 days ago, when i got home i realized that it works with Sina Weibo instead of asking me for my google acount like all the previous Android phones i had before, i went to the store asked for a refund.. not happening. I paid 800 bucks for a phone i cant use.. so i went ahead and tried to solve the issue and root it, i followed a threat here every instruction but i messed up somehow and at the end i wasnt able to enter the recovery mode, so i couldnt install the rom i downloaded (this is the guide i followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2705292 ) so being unable to do anything i went to a tech today, he charged me 100 bucks to "solve the problem" and he was able to S-OFF the phone and i was finally able to get into recovery mode with TWRP but he said he didnt have any rom cause the phone was too new.. so i came back home where i had the ones i downloaded from the link i posted above... followed the insutrctions and installed the rom, everything seemed to be fine but then when it rebooted, nothing happens, the phone is stuck on fastboot mode and wont load into the operating system, i have tried to reboot a million times, updated the kernel , updated the twrp... still nothing. i am in china and have been trying to find another tech.. no luck at all. can someone help me or give me ideas on what to do? i would really appreciate the help!

You should be able to just flash any GSM ROM unless the Chinese model is a different variant. You could have bricked it, never a good idea to flash incorrect ROM for a device.
May I ask what ROM did you flash and for what device?

What does "totally dead" mean? Any charge LED? Any response when connected to a computer.
Also, not a good idea to dig up a thread from 5 months ago, with limited relevance. The top post did different steps, and was stuck in fastboot, which doesn't sound the same as your situation.

HTC E9+ stuck in bootloop screen, then restarts by itself

Hello, I need help with my HTC E9+. I am encountering issues wherein the phone is stuck in the htc boot loop. Then it restarts by itself. I already tried wiping cache and factory reset, but it still wont work. This happened when my phone became lowbatt, and then I charged it, pressed the volume down and power button. After several tries, it worked. But then last night, due to wifi error, i restarted my phone, hoping it will fix the wifi error issue. But now it wont get past the boot screen.
**My phone is not rooted.
This is the screen display I get..

Pls help me. Thanks!!
DId you find a solution to this problem of yours because I am facing the same issue ,if yes then please guide me as well .
I brought it to HTC service center in Hong Kong. But the tech said the mother board is faulty. And they don't have spare parts for E9. So I just bought a new phone.

Hello, can you please share the solution? Thanks!!
Ofcourse , there are two things that you are going to need to resolve this issue.
1. xtc2clip
2. Pay some money online to get your S-off.
It was done by a local shopkeeper in Lucknow, India. His name is Nitin. Nitin told me that he first used xtc2clip to flash my mobile but it didn't worked, so then he paid some money online to get S-off and then he installed Stock Rom from xtc2clip website and that's how I got my mobile recovered.

Download TWRP Recovery:
dl.twrp.me/a55ml_dtul/twrp-3.2.1-0-a55ml_dtul.img.html
Download latest HTC drivers..You can google it...
Download ADB drivers via this guide :
droidvendor.com/how-to-install-adb-and-fastboot-drivers-on-windows-pc
Make sure your bootloader is unlocked:
htcdev.com/bootloader
Then flash TWRP Recovery img to phone via fastboot...Google it how to flash any img or rom to phone...
Then Backup your boot via TWRP Recovery...Then download this androidfilehost.com/?fid=24352994023705043 , unzip and replace files in zip with files in phone_storage/TWRP/Backups/...../..../ folder..
Then Click Restore in TWRP ...And select System,Boot and Restore...Phone must work..
Alternativly You can flash system.img to phone without TWRP if you find system.img for your htc....Make sure version is not for china
Hi, is that the complete steps? Sorry this is my first time to do those steps for my phone. Thanks
