I change the settings for the data to on, in roaming area, and the settings will not stay the way i changed it. I have frozen out the sprint device manager, and a few more management apps. why will not my changes stay? I even tried the Note 2 Toolbox to change the settings and that does not work either. I figure by now I really could use some help with this.

if you remove ConnectionManager.apk from the system apps. along with the CSC folder in the system folder. you should be able to see the menu normally and roam normally. gets rid of the annoying connection optimizer and roaming guard. backup before attemping just in case
but this is what works for me! no issues!
Gave this a try..
Thank You That seemed to work, But there were two files in the System and I took them both out.
If I made a mistake I did back-up and I did reboot and so far it has not come up . I wanted to say again Thank You
I also have a ABD Lock on from Boot, yet it is always on since I had to add a lock. Didn't seem to work, every time I
rebooted it would not keep certain settings. You have any ideas for fee ABD Locks that work better?
Did not work, rebooting to get in to TRW wipes the settings out, this is starting to really freaking me out! I have read and tried things and nothing is working.
Please someone has to have an answer why I can not make some changes and keep the ones I want. SOMEONE HELP!!!

Let's build a FAQ here to help everyone get the full benefits of this outstanding ROM! Let's not make this into a discussion thread so that it makes everyone's search alot easier to find what they need. I'm starting this since there is no FAQ or WIKI in the OP.
I'll start first...
MMS FIX: clear cache for your messaging app (whatever you are using) under Settings >>> Applications >>>Manage Applications>>All. Reboot into recovery, clear cache, Dalvik cache, and finally reboot.
I already posted this in the general forum but this seems more fitting. I installed CM7 on my Evo earlier today. Everything was amazing until I realized that the market app wouldn't work. Within a second of me tapping the icon I was back at my home screen. I wiped all my caches and wiped+ reinstalled CM7 but still no luck. I've reverted to a backup ROM for now until I can get this sorted out. Any help would be awesome!
Issue:
Bad Front Facing Camera Pics "Dark"
Bad Video on any setting other than "High"
Tried Different kernels:
SavageZen 0.0.3, 0.0.4, 0.0.5 no luck
Issue: Titanium Backup does not successfully install when I attempt to update from the market. Think it might have something to do with the GPS, but I don't know...
Attempting workarounds, anyone know if I can use Root Explorer to remove it and then re-download?
Hi Everyone
I would like to share what I have learned over the last week. First off. AWESOME ROM. Great job!!!
I discovered after many hours that a backup with Clockworkmod 3.0.0.5 does not restore on my HTC EVO no matter how I do the backup (i.e. manual or using Rom Manager). Good news is that if you revert back to 2.5.0.7 when you do the backup (either method), I have success on restore. I did the GPS fix by reverting back to a prior image and using the ##GPS….# method and then restored my CM7 and I am happy to report GPS is working.. I did flash Savaged-Zen-V0.0.5-CFS-HAVS-NoSBC-WiMAX-GB-Signed to see if that would improve things. I did them together so I can’t be totally positive which one fixed it. I believe the combination works though. 4G also works which is good news. I do not see signal strength or the icon in the notification but the Wi-Fi shows it is 4G connected (does not say sprint though). It also is consistent in range with what I had with the Sense ROM.
I also just confirmed that the Wi-fi hotspot also works on 3G (no 4G in my hood). I connected my laptop and ipad without problems and connected to the internet.
I tried everything flashing / restoring, etc to get Sprint Voicemail to work. I gave up and downloaded a program called YouMail. So far, I am happy with it (works very similar to the Sprint product and it is free).
Camera appears to also be working. I will do more tests.
I will keep you posted on the things I learn over the next few weeks. I hope some of you find it helpful.
I will answer questions if I can. Thanks for the great ROM. I look forward to updates.

Issue: No Disk Mode after flashing tast kernel.
Fix: Use savage kernel. Make sure its a Gb wimax kernel.
Issue: No WiFi tethering (bluetooth and wifi tethering both broken). I won't work in 3 or 4g.

Tried that. Didn't work. Used Root Explorer to search for all Titanium backup files. Erased. Checked in /system/app nothing there as well. Checked in Applications list to see if it was there, it was. Can't seem to erase it completely off. Tried to redownload and reinstall from market. No go.
hey guys, for the mms fix, i can't seem to get that to work. mainly because the clear cache buttons are greyed out for the original messaging app and chompsms

You need to flash the proper Gapps for CM7. Do a google search for 'Gapps-GB' and you should find the download for it. Save it to your Sd-card and flash it using recovery. Hope this helps.
I am not sure what the problem is. Are you using the built in wi-fi tethering. I read somethere what the tethering app does not work.. I have had no problems with the build in wi-fi tethering. I ran my phone yesterday with GPS and some calls, text msg, etc and left it on overnight to see how it would do. I woke up and still had 38% after over 20 hours since last charged.
I am currently expierencing terrible wifi reception on my evo, also the data seems to go in and out of connection sometimes
also my mms is not working properly and I cannot seem to fix it, I have ran fix permissions in ROM Manager, Clear cache in settings, and reseting app data in Titanium... I dont want to wipe my phone (too many settings to mess with to get it back to how I like it ) but I am willing to if thats how it will get fixed...
Currently 35% downloaded. Is there any way to cancel the install phase? I was not prompted and cannot stop the download. I hope others aren't next, I tried various tricks when I first rooted to break my communication with the OTA update but obviously that didn't work.

Probably too late now 20 minutes later, but you could always pull the battery. That will buy you a little time. Then you could fastboot boot the recovery from the dev forum, access your phone with adb, and delete the update application apks from the system.
Quick uodate, I was able to postpone the update with the remind me later option I was given. Luckily it asked me at some point but my issue is still there, how do I get rid of this uodate pest? Renamint the ota-certs.zip file isn't enough because I did that a while ago.
I will try that when I get home. Is this system updates apk something I can get to from root explorer? I would love to end while I'm still at work.
Thanks Mills! I used Titanium backup to back the system-update.apk to my SD and then removed it from internal. The option to update disappeared in Settings. I out it back just to make sure I fixed it, the update option reappeared so I removed it again and now it's over. Thanks so much for helping me in the clutch. Felt like my phone had a bomb strapped to it. Oh and in Titanium I deleted the app data just to be safe and remove that update. Hopefully this info gets around so no one else is surprised.

Looks like I was wrong, the phone updated while I was busy at work and is now not turning on. With my lady at home expecting anytime I was in a catch 22, do I turn the phone off and try and help it's safety or do I do what apears to have worked. Well I had faith in what I did and now have to revert back to a crapberry. I'm calling Verizon out on this one, there is no good excuse for me to HAVE to had updated and it shouldn't be a complex procedure to say no to any updates.
Mobile Care is the app to delete or freeze on a R800x to prevent ota updating.
Thanks a MILLION for that tip markcyst. I unbricked my phone so now I will be deleting "mobile care".

So i have read many post and i mean many and i am still working my brain on catching on to all these. If you all notice, there is a lot to rooting, what you can do, names to things, so so much my brain hurts lol.
But, finally after almost 2 years of being here, 3 phones i grabbed my cojones and rooted my SG2 while still stock. So here are some things. I was going nuts to get Nandroid backup, come to find out that is just a normal back up while in recovery mode.
Now i was trying to do some things with Titanium Backup but got a bit confused. I noticed that with the lite version, I can only uninstall apps not freeze. I want to clean my phone from all the clogs, especially when i notice my memory use shows most of the time 550m-769m, which i have to keep cleaning it. Hoping, removing some apps will help this. What is the difference between freezing and uninstalling. Also, i came across:
https://spreadsheets.google.com/spr...SENVeXlqUm5vV0E&single=true&gid=0&output=html
Which it suppose to tell me which i can which i cant. Does this still apply with ICS? And looking at the list, all greens are good, correct?
Also, using root explorer is kinda weird. I was trying to install S Voice which it seems to be a big pain. For one, i have the package in a folder. When searching for it with Root Explorer, and i find S Voice, try to change permission it wont let me. Telling me the following, "Permissions change was not successful. Please note that some file systems (e.g. SD card) do not allow permission changes."
Also, trying to copy something into my system/app wont let me either.
What am i doing wrong? or missing?
thanks in advance.

I know the difference from freezing and uninstalling is that freezing halts the app from running and removes it from your app list. If you are uninstalling something you think is bloat, back it up first, in case it screws things up you can restore it. Freeze is a good way to test whether or not you want to just simply uninstall it.
Titanium Backup Pro is totally worth the few bucks though if you can afford it.. a real good buy..
As far as the other stuff, I don't mess with system/app things so maybe someone else can help with that.
For the green-coloured apps, I would make sure I have an alternate app that can take care of that feature of the phone. For example you can remove the camera app, but without a replacement/alternate app your phone won't have a camera function.
TBP is the perfect app to test whether an app is good to remove. Just freeze it and see if your phone acts up. My understanding is that freezing=not letting an app run, uninstalling=getting rid of it.
In terms of not having the permission to copy files in the system directories, you may need to install a terminal emulator to change the permissions and do the copying manually.
Thank you guys and sorry for the very late reply. Using TBP i was able to FREEZE many apps, decided to go this route, i was and still am abit afraid of damaging something and not being able to go back and fix it.
However, i still have a few situations. Even freeze so many apps my battery still dies very fax with little use i give the phone. I also see the following apps under my memory usage and i do not know what they are and if they can be froze too to even get more memory back.
Enterprise VPN Service
IPService
SIM Toolkit
CSC
Bluetoothtest (i know that is the bluetooth but do not know if there is a way to freeze this program)
Google Services Framework
Package Access Helper
com.sec.android.providers.d
Download manager
Samsung Account
My Uploads

Badgeprovider
Device Management

Atmazzz i want to say thank you. Doing what you said helped my hang. I do not have that problem anymore. But i am wondering if fixing the permission could have be the cause i lost S Voice talkback feature. What i mean, is that after doing the wipe cache/dalvik and fixing permissiong, now my S Voice does not talk back to me. No matter how many time i restart the phone or whatever i do, it wont talk anymore.
On another note, thanks to you, i have come to understand more about all the rooting. All i have to do now is soon gets some strength and install a new rom than stock. But there are so many, i do not know which one to use. Especially with the official ICS i bet they are better now.
I just also hope that neither of the rom come with the bricking problem. As far as i read it only happens when using ICS kernel and my phone is 0X12 so i get worry.
Is there a way to remove Carrier IQ from the G3 yet? I've followed a couple ways to do it yet the detectors still show it as not only present but active. I've opted out of the diagnostic collection but also disabled the apks as well as this http://www.reddit.com/r/LGG3/comments/2bkl60/remove_carrier_iq_off_of_lg_g3_all_models/

I am rooted. I've frozen the 3 system management apps and denied them the permissions they need to be able to run but the detectors still say its active. Could the detectors be not working since the phone is so new? I've also frozen LTDDM.apk too .
The detectors probably just search to see if it exists in the phone. So they most likely cannot recognize if it is running or not.

I had Carrier IQ on a TMO Galaxy Light and in addition to freezing the apps with Titanium Backup there are three apk's in System>Priv-App that relate to Carrier IQ - they are:
IQ-tmobile-release-unsigned.signed_TMO.apk
IQToggle.signed_TMO.apk
IQ_OOB_TMO.apk
I renamed them with a .bak extension because I read somewhere that CIQ is still sending information to TMO whether it's frozen or not (and even though T-Mobile claims that they don't use it!
Seems to work because I cannot see them in running apps (using GSAM Pro)

You can opt out of it using the t-mobile app that comes on the phone. Go to the device health and opt to turn it off, then go to advanced tab and shut that off too.

Yes, you can do that, but I'm not sure if that just disables it from sending phone data or stops it from running as well in the background processes.
Some of the CIQ modules are used by TMo for their My Account and other apps on the phone as well, including the device diagnostics reminder, when you call up support, it sends your device info to them on call, etc, unless you uncheck all of those options, not just the CIQ disclaimer and diagnostics.
Those other options are in the TMo My Account app and then you need uncheck all the boxes in its settings for those abilities.
The removal of CIQ takes it away from the phone completely, thus removing the capability of your phone data (including SMS and calls) being sent and the battery and CPU tasking it used.
I actually just found the settings in the My TMobile app. It told me my device was healthy so I was turning off that thing and noticed the more hidden diagnostics option and the other settings.
Back in my OmniRom/Note 2 days, I used delete scripts/zips to automatically clean up after nightly flashes. I created a CIQ_Delete zip using the template from the following thread. Thanks to @RaphaDroid for the template and thanks to @vicvega for the guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2575966
This zip deletes the following:
"/system/app/LTDDM.apk",
"/system/priv-app/IQ-tmobile-release-unsigned.signed.apk",
"/system/priv-app/IQToggle_v1.1.3.signed.apk",
"/system/priv-app/IQ_OOB_v1.6_forLG.signed.apk",
"/system/lib/libiq_service_tmobile_2.2.so",
"/data/data/com.carrieriq.tmobile",
"/data/data/com.carrieriq.tmobile.IQOOB",
"/data/data/com.carrieriq.tmobile.IQToggle"
I ran Voodoo CIQ Detector before and after. After a flash in recovery, the detector comes up clean. Nothing detected or running. A perfect score.
Understand, this should only be used after the phone has been setup!! It's my understanding that if the apks are deleted before hand, the setup wizard gets messed up. Probably because of the diagnostic option during setup. Again, this zip should only be used after a dirty flash or after the initial setup on a fresh install. You may want to back up the apks before deleting just in case you want to do a factory reset instead of a clean flash. That way you can get through the initial setup of the phone.
I take no responsibility if you futz up your phone. I just wanted makes things a bit easier by automating the process. You can also follow vivega's guide (linked above) to manually rid yourselves of this nuisance.
Also note: I used the xposed toggle and one time viper4android zips from that same thread. They both work after dirty flashes. Another time saver.
You can honestly just delete the .apk.

During the initial setup, when you get to the wifi setup screen can you just skip over the wifi setup? Is it possible your wifi isn't working (mine isn't either) and as long as you keep attempting to connect you'll never get past that step in the initial setup process?

Where did you find the answer? Was it a positive answer? I did a similar thing. After root all was good. Foolishly I began using TiB to merge updates of sys apps into the system. I forgot to uncheck gooogle play services. This messed up gpservices and I factory reset. Thus of course left gpservices still messed up as I erased the system version of it along with the system image that I had on internal sd. A begginers mistake by a veteran. Foolish.
