[Q] faulty phone - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi guys, I have just received my brand new galaxy nexus this morning. Only one problem which is I cut my sim down to work with HTC one x which it worked fine however it won't work in my nexus no matter what way I put it in. Its unlocked and I've also put a regular o2 sim in and still comes up with no sim inserted? I think the phone itself if European as it had the euro plug when I opened it up. As the person I bought it off has included a UK one seperetly. Although being an unlocked device I should still be able to use it?
Any body know anything I can try?

Vodafone UK RUU - Not showing Phone Number/No Branding

Hi,
Just installed the latest Voadfone UK RUU on my phone as I'm having problems with the phone charging. I have an SLCD model purchased in August. When I originally received the phone it was branded, however, the phone now appears to have no branding (after flashing the latest RUU). I also cannot see the Phone Number (listed as Unknown) under Phone Identity in settings, whereas this used to work with the original OS.
Anyone know if Vodafone UK will accept my phone back for a warranty repair, am I screwed or do I need to do anything else?
Cheers,
Mike
I thought the latest version of the vodafone software removed (all?) branding and dodgy apps as people kicked up a right fuss last time they pushed down loads of vodafone360 junk? (was the RUU a vodafone branded RUU?)
Not sure though as I got my phone from Amazon and stuck in an o2 sim.
However, I did see somewhere about the 'unknown' phone number being an issue with the sim/carrier - old sim cards or such that didn't carry information about the phone number on - or numbers that have been transferred with PAC etc.
Mine also says Unknown - although it was a brand spanking new SIM and number around 2 years ago.
I think I read that you can contact Vodafone (in this case) and tell them about it and they'll do one of three things;
1) tell you to ignore it - it isn't important
2) push out an update to the SIM to update the information on it
3) send you a new SIM.
4) you can apparently put the sim into a blackberry or similar and there's an option on some handsets (i know there is on an old blackberry i have) to add the number on to the SIM itself that way... and it should then transfer the number to your Desire
hope that helps... I may of course be wrong with some of the above as I dont have a branded phone and i ignored the unknown number on my own phone
When i got my Desire with Vodafone branding last month I was surprised too. The only place where the "branding" is visible is under settings-personalize-scenes which has an added Vodafone scene (besides a different firmware version of course...).
It's also unable to detect the phone number from my simcard but i don't really mind.
Perfect, thanks guys. Just dropped it into Vodafone to get it repaired.
I'm tempted to move my SIM to the blackberry and set the number up on it and move it back just to test... in fact I may do that now...

Out of interest - why are you sending it back to vodafone? What else is broken?
The (almost) non-branding seems to be part of the update...

[Q] My ATT ONE X not reading any sim card

Hello, I've been reading about this problem I have for pretty much half a day now without finding any concrete solutions or explanation on why my One X is not reading any sim card I put it. I am from canada and bought this phone off ebay a few days ago. Phone is locked to ATT but unlocking it isnt that big of a deal since I've done it before with another One X. So when the phone arrived this morning I tried to put my microsim in and its not recognize that there's one in there at all. At first I thought it was probably just my sim but I also tried another one from Rogers and another from Telus. Both are known to be working on their own phones but not cannot be found on this One X. After searching and reading. Some people said it could be solftware or hardware. I would rather it be software since I don't think I can go through any kind of warranty through ATT or HTC since I am not the one that purchased the phone from them. The situation is very frustrating. If anyone had this problem before or any ideas on how I can go about fixing this would be greatly appreciated. Everything is stock on phone right now with ICS 4.0.4
You are in the wrong forum mate, this is for the HTC one X international quad-core phone, you have the at&t dual-core phone.

You said ebay, and i smell trouble!
1)Try a factory reset first, i doubt anything will change with this, but still... (Make a nandroid backup first!!)
- You can download Hasoon2000s' at&t HTC One X AIO toolkit for much needed - easy - help -
- http://d-h.st/users/hasoon2000/?fld_id=2808
2)Try "fixing permissions" and clear your cache. If this doesn't work clear "Dalvik cache" (Available in recovery)
2)If that doesnt work, you may have to reflash its firmware on the device! (ask for it in the at&t section)

[Q] New HTC m8 Question

Hey guys so I just got a new M8 through ATT. I was wondering since they shipped the phone to me can I just activate the new sim card and put it in the phone no problems? Or do I need to Activate the phone as well. I purchased and had it shipped from ATT. Just wondering since I never had to activate my nexus 4 and don't remember for my LG G2.
Thanks for the help!

As long as the sim you have is compatible with the carrier you ordered from, and your sim is currently working, you won't have any problem just putting it into a new phone.
That being said, it needs to be the right size simcard. The One M8 using a NanoSim. If your current sim is not a nanosim you'll need to go into the store and have them transfer your account information onto a new sim (this is usually done for free).

Depending on how your provider works, booting up the M8 with the new sim should deactivate your old sim if they're tied to the same number. If that's not the case, you'll likely have to transfer your account to the new sim over the phone or in store.

Using an unlocked HTC 10 on Verizon

So I bought an unlocked HTC 10 the other day. The unlocked version isn't natively compatible with Verizon's network, but by following this guide I was able to flash the Verizon radio. *hopefully* everything is working! The process went smoothly enough.
The problem now is I need to activate my new nano SIM card on this unlocked phone. I know next to nothing about SIM cards and how they work.... is Verizon going to give me a hard time about activating on this phone since it their system will tell them it's incompatible? I know if they activate the SIM the HTC should work fine thanks to the new radio, but I'm worried that they'll take one look at my IMEI number and tell me they can't do it. If I tell them I flashed the Verizon radio, will they unlock it? Am I better off cutting my old micro SIM to fit the HTC nano SIM card slot?
If nothing else, I could activate my SIM with a friends phone and IMEI. What are the disadvantages of that?
Edit: I just activated a nano SIM on my old phone with a nano->micro adapter, then put it in the HTC 10. Worked great!

Trying to use verizon tab s with att sim

So i had a att tabs and i broke the lcd on it and i couldnt see the screen to back it up so i bought another used one and opened them up and switched the board out and the new one worked fine. The other day it broke so i bought a verizon one. I popped my att sim in it and it doesnt work so i opened up and switched the board out and still doesnt work. I then switched the cables out also but still doesnt work. I hear it come on but nothing comes on the screen. I then put verizon board back in and it works fine. Does anyone know why i cant get it to work? There the same thing on the inside. Also is there a way to get the att sim card to work with the verizon one? Thanks
Just for a update, i was able to add att info into the verizon tablet and it now works. But still trying to figure out why if i switch motherboards out it doesnt work? The att tablet has screen burn in it and verizon doesn't plus i cant root the verizon one but the att one i can root. So if there is anyone that knows how to switch out just the lcd please let me know. Thanks
