I woke up this morning with the phone plugged in, at 57% battery and not charging. I have tried the official usb cable and charger, various other cables, various laptops and desktops, none of which have worked. It does not indicate that it is charging when powered off. Is this a warranty situation?

Have you done anything to the phone like flashing ROM, kernel, root?

Oh sorry! Should have mentioned that. The phone is rooted, running CM10 (October's M build) with the koontz kernel.

Yesterday when I went to go charge my dinc it would not charge. So then I
powered it off before I went to sleep plugged it in and no charging light came on.
Then I woke up and it would not turn on, so I unplugged it and it worked when I
turned it on and was fully charged. What could be the problem? My phone now only
charges when powered off and when it is on it says charging cable is not
compatible and wont charge. Im using stock charger and iv tried different chargers
and wont work even on computer still says charger not compatible. ANY IDEAS?
Im thinking its the battery. Some people say it could be the charging port but it
charges when powered off. Also when I went
into bootloader it said low voltage on battery, please change battery.
What ROM are you running?

sense kingdom rom but that's not the issue because I flashed back to an earlier rom that was not giving me any issues and still was not charging when powered on only said power adapter not compatible. When I completely turn off the phone it will charge but there will be no led light on.
Has anyone had this problem before?
My phone says its charging but it discharges (sometimes stays at the same level and sometimes charges VERY slowly). I let it sit on the charger without playing with it and sometimes I have to let it charge while turned off. I have tried many different chargers/usb cables but cannot find a solution.
I have tried wiping the phone twice + I have used an ipad charging block some of the time (higher voltage and amperage I believe).
It works for a little while after a wipe but the problem always comes back. I am running the latest Task 650 rom with stock kernel...
Any suggestions? My last resort is to return it to stock and try getting a warranty exchange.
I have this problem charging in the car on a really long cheap USB cable. Are you using the stock battery and stock charger / cable?

Have you tried using BetterBatteryStats to see what's draining your battery so much? If nothing seems odd or over the top. It could be a hardware problem (battery, usb, etc).

Well my battery is draining at the normal rate but it is not charging at the normal rate (most of the time it doesn't charge at all)
I have tried the stock usb cable and charging block, I also utilize the stock battery.

Have you tried plugging it in other wall outlets?
Also, did you try charging it through your PC? (can't use Fast Charge without another kernel than Task's)

Yes I have tried different outlets and through the PC. I have had this problem using both 4.1.2 (12/2) and 4.2.2 (2/15)

Do you get this issue on stock or other ROMs?
Btw, there's 2/20 now.

I don't know, haven't reverted to stock yet. I was running 12/2 for about 2 months with no issues though..

Try updating, if it doesn't work, try stock. if it still doesn't work, send it for warranty.
Try another cable or reverting back to stock. I've got 4 different Galaxy S variant phones and some of the provided cords have just given up the ghost and wouldn't charge quickly anymore. Some will work with another another and some won't. Revert to out of the box stock and see if that helps.
Mine was doing similar deal. I did the *#*#4636#*#* went to battery and found out when I plugged in stock charger and cable it said usb charging instead of ac charging. When I plugged in htc charger went right to ac charging. So I tried using a different cable with stock charger and it went ac charger and seam to fix the problem. In fact if I plugged in just the stock cable not hooked to computer or charger it would switch to usb when there was no power going thru it. Hope this helps.

Hello everyone,
I am currently going through hell with my sph-l710. This all started a few days ago.
My phone refuses to charge sometimes, but the charging light comes on. I have never gotten the phone to charge above around 20%. I took it to sprint. First they said it was a software issue but they wouldn't look at it because i was on a custom rom (Liquidsmooth) and rooted. So I went home and did a reflash of md4 via odin.
This didn't fix the issue.
So I went back in. This time, they said it was the battery. So I bought a brand new battery.
That didn't help the issue.
So I went back in, and they said they had to keep in for an hour to see if I simply needed a new phone. When I came back, they said it worked fine on multiple chargers and they got it up to 56%. So I came back home thinking maybe they were just covering their asses for the previous times they couldn't figure it out.
That didn't help the issue.
It once again wouldn't charge and while I was bored I flashed cleanbean v4.0. Still not charging properly. I noticed that while it was plugged into my PC, it got up to like 30% so I got excited, but when I rebooted the phone after unplugging it, it went down to 17% immediately.
I'm literally pulling my hair out over this. I have used my mom's charger for her htc evo and that won't charge it either.
Can someone pelase tell me what in the world is wrong with my phone??
Cheers
The charger, do not use a charger for HTC, make sure you use the charger that came with the phone. USB charging from the computer is slow. But your wall charger should have it fully charged within an hour. If not then your charger is bad or the cable is bad.

Check the port on the phone for pocket fuzz, Try a different usb cable, try a different charger. It's likely one of these is the problem. If not, is your phone running hot? If so, maybe an app on the phone is drawing so much current that the charger can't keep up. What does the battery usage display in settings say? Does it show something eating up battery that shouldn't be?

I used to think the same thing, but when I use my Kindle's charger or my old Evo 4G's charger, my phone doesn't charge, it just maintains the same level. My Palm Pre's charger, though, works like a charge. The Funkiest Ed wasn't saying that only Samsung chargers would work, but that it's likely the charger doesn't work anymore.
My Gnex as soon as I plug the charging cable in it doesn't say it's plugged in. It behaves like it's not charging. The charge never goes down when it's plugged in. I have another battery, as soon as I plug it in the battery section of settings says 94% not charging. It's plugged in. why won't it charge?
I'm using the latest version of Paranoid Android
Any suggestions?

I had a similar issue where the battery showed charging, but the battery was not actually charging. I was able to determine that certain rom/kernal combos would not work properly together. Try a different Kernal and also fixing permissions under recovery would work as a temp fix for me. hope it helps.
I would also check the USB port on the phone, see if the part in the middle touches anything...
Not sure if was just a bug, but last night I put my phone on charge before bed and battery was at 25% I woke up in the morning to my suprise battery was only at 27%, I unplugged USB and re-plugged in again and it charged like normal.
Well, I had the same issue when I woke up this morning except in my case, the power brick has died completely and I am trying to determine if the battery has as well...
It does say it's charging on the lock screen when I connect it to a computer but in 10 minutes I haven't seen the percentage go up
FYI I have charged the device overnight only 9 times since I got it, GREAT JOB HTC !

Did you have ultra battery saving mode enabled to turn on automatically? Last time I had this enabled my phone wouldn't charge on a stock rom and stock charger. It only happened in 24 hour span, and there were times during that time when I plugged it in and wouldn't charge. I was on the latest update and after I disabled ultra battery saving mode I never had any charging problems
Nope all berry saving modes was off. It charged fine last night from 40%
I going to try run battery down today and see. Very strange

I can hear some noise coming from the charger while it's working louder than the M9's charger and a sound whenever I disconnect the charging cable from the port, like if something was a little loose. Are those normal things?
I recently had this issue too on a totally stock Verizon phone. Phone wouldn't charge until a reboot.

I assume you guys are all using stock charger and cable to charge? I think QC 3.0 can be picky about the cable used. Haven't had any issues with the 10, but previous phone was a lumia 950xl. It was only QC 2.0, I used a third party cable with it, had a lot of bother, then used stock cable and everything worked perfectly.
I had this happening once and the issue was for some reason the cable wasn't plugged to the wall adapter properly. I removed it and plugged it and it started working. I don't think it's something to get worried about.
Not sure about the noise though

That's normal. It's a switching-mode power supply (SMPS for short) and there's some coil whining in there. Quite literally business as usual.
Not sure if there has been any update on this, but I'm experiencing the same issue as well. I have a stock charger + stock cable as well as two Anker chargers (both QC3, one wall and one car charger) and I use iOrange-E cables (56k ohm) with the Ankers. I only have this problem with the stock cable and stock charger, the 3rd party chargers haven't had any issues yet. I will plug the phone in for the night and a majority of the time (it's happened 5 or so times in the past week) it will charge for about 10 minutes or less before it just stops charging. It acts like it's been unplugged entirely. I have to unplug and replug the charger to the wall a couple of times before it will start charging again. It will again only charge for a short period of time before it stops and repeats this. Since it's only happening with the one charger I'm left to believe that maybe the charger is just faulty. Anyone else still having this problem or has come to the same conclusion?
Yes!!! I've had this issue with the stock charger as well... very weird. Just doesn't charge and have to unplug it multiple times to get it to work
I also have an anker wall and car charger along with an anker cable... they work fine
Verizon stock phone... hasn't happened since ota

Started having the issue a few days ago. Phone will not charge until I plug it in and then reboot it. Doesn't matter what cable, charger, etc... I use, and yes I have tried them all. Stock, anker, qc 3 certified, non certified, doesn't matter. It behaves the same no matter what. Even went back to stock rom and same issue. Tried a couple of different kernels too.

This now the only way my phone will charge. I have probably ordered 3 sets of QC 3 certified chargers(car and wall), the stock one that came with the phone, probably 20 different cables, even some being micro USB with adapters, flashed all the way back to stock unrooted, wiped sd card, formatted data, tried several different kernals and roms. The only thing I have not done is go back S-On for completely out of the box stock, just dont feel it would make a difference at this point. Did yours simply just start working again dottat?
