Change default alarm in 4.2? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Maybe I am missing it, but has anyone figured out how to change the default alarm sound in the new clock? This seems to be the one change I can't find.

after you click on your alarm time and it pulls up the day list / repeat/vibrate options, to the left of VIBRATE...just click it

No I got that part, but how to set another tone as the default?

No, how to set a new tone as default for all new alarms.
I know how to change one on a case by case basis but to change it as the go to sound.

Actually, now that I play around with it, it seems whatever sound you set for one is used as default for all new alarms after it.

[Q] Alarm Clock

My alarm app does not have the stock alarm sounds! only cyanogenmod sounds... I want the buzzer sound so I can wake up in the morning... Thanks in advance for your help
The alarm sounds are in /media/audio/alarms/. Once you find the sounds you want, just copy them there and you'll be able to select them.
Get alarm clock plus it allows you to use all your sounds and its a lot better than stock.

Have you looked at the Good Morning App on the market? Sounds or music and it has some pretty neat settings.

Download a ROM such as Calkulin's 3.0 GB from the development section. Open or unzip it on your PC, and navigate to system/media/audio/alarms. Then copy that to the /media/audio/alarms folder on your phone.

Lock and Unlock Lightsaber sounds

These are the unlock and lock sounds made and can be used with any ROM. I thought i would share for anyone who wants to use them as well.
Just download and using rootexplorer or similar app just copy and paste in /system/media/audio/ui folder then fix permissions and reboot.

Never seen that before try and delete the stock sound file before pasting the new one and see if it still shows the same message.
I've tried uninstalling, rebooting, using different file explorers and changing permissions in super user...all I'm getting are failed attempts. Got this when trying to delete the sound first. I'll keep trying!

[Q] Volume Change Sound

Does anyone know how to disable the sound that plays when the volume is adjusted? There is not a file in system/media/ for the sound.
Your question is kinda vague and I'm not sure if I'm following. But you can go to your system/media/ringtones to view the ringers or drop one in. Or in settings/sound/phone ringtone, I'm pretty sure at the top there is a selection for silent.
Think he means the default beep when you max the volume, would like to know the answer myself.

Not every ROM will have that option. I'm curious as to find a workaround on the backside.

Wrong, the screen is off and the notification has almost no impact on battery life.
But it is very easy to use it and if you don't like it, just uninstall it.

I don't know, I don't use the light, but you can turn it on in the settings. Noled will not interfere with the light, they both can be used in the same time.

Not sure if you were aware already but just thought I'd throw this out there. Aosp roms in general basically eliminate the need for led light apps because they have the functionality built right in. You can set an led notification for whatever app you want under display in settings, and it also lets you select the type and speed of pulse along with the length, speed (or you can pick solid on with no blink or pulse), and you can pick any color of blink from the rainbow. As far as AOSP roms I'd personally recommend either Beanstalk (on att forums) or Liquid Smooth if you haven't tried one yet, but there's a ton of great ones out there. For me anyway as soon as I tried aosp, it immediately eliminated my need for led notification apps (I'm sure it's possible that there's something an led app can do that I'm missing though). Also if anyone else is like I was and is hesitating from leaving tw roms because of the SPen features they give you, there's an app called GMD SPen Control that literally gives you the best of both worlds. It lets you use aosp roms without losing the SPen features you get with tw roms (including the ability to change the attach and detach sounds, customize all the SPen gestures, and choose whatever app or activity you want to come up whenever you pull out the pen). I know everyone has their own opinions about which is better (and are definitely entitled to them) but once I tried aosp I never looked back!

Try a newer stock rom. Im currently using Note 2 and on the latest stock rom. The previous version did give me some talkback issues but not on the latest 4.1.2. You don't have to format or erase your programs either, just a clean upgrade.

A lot of whining and it seemed likely as it was an installable app on 4.3 with no porting required.
And it messes with the app drawer bringing it to 4 icons across instead of 5. Arggg. Back to apex

GEL is still exclusive to Nexus 5 and looks like crap on most other phones and tablets (4 icon rows). Everyone else they got a big Google Now update w/ an option to install an APK copied from another phone.
4 Icon rows looks ok on my N4 i think? Or do you mean in the app draw?
I had GEL accidentally running on 4.3. I flashed an AOSP KitKat ROM and that had it, then reverted to 4.3 and it stayed... Until I wiped cache
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
I guess, so far, I'm the only one here liking (or at least, not minding) the new 4 by 5 layout. It seems a little inconsistent at times because some app icons seem a little low-res, but I'm sure app devs will fix that sooner rather than later. Also, the one tiny annoyance I have with the new launcher, is the missing app drawer Play Store icon on the top right. I really got used to that. Oh well, something's gotta give.

Ok, found one glitch. I'm unable to activate Google Now from the lockscreen with a swipe up. Google Now does open in the background, but I have to manually unlock the phone for it to show.
I actually like the 4 columns of the app drawer vs 5 that was on the previous version much less cluttered

Here's a customizable Kitkat launcher based on Launcher3 AOSP (it doesn't include Google Now integration), it offers grid size change, wallpaper scrolling toggle, setting the default homescreen, unlimited items in folder. Only Search bar removal ain't free.

I think that's normal behavior - otherwise someone could open Google Now > Search Google > Open a result in Chrome > Use Chrome to browse to a malicious site, all without having to know your unlock pattern.
Unless you're on the normal unsecure swipe ring unlock in which case yeah I'd consider that a glitch :good:
---------- Post added at 10:47 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:27 AM ----------
Loving this launcher now! The only thing that bothered me about the old N5 ported version was the 5 column app drawer - looked so squashed and awkward, now it's perfect I only wish the scrolling were faster, I'm so used to Nova's "faster than light" setting, but I'll get used to it. And I think the fact that they've made the grid responsive to different screen sizes would imply that they will be bringing it to the play store eventually.

Does anyone know if the new Google search/Google now allows you to "send hangout" rather than just "send message". Since hangouts is now the default messenger in KitKat, it would only make sense... But I already have a feeling I know the answer before asking

I can't get "ok google" to initiate anything. Language is set to US English, voice search works fine if I click the microphone icon then speak, it just won't do anything if I say "ok google".
