My SGS3 earpiece stopped working while on SlimBean 2.9. Speaker and headphones worked. I flashed back to stock LG1 ( to bring the phone for warranty repair) but it kept saying about OTA update. So I flashed to LI5 stock. Magically, earpiece started working. Hmm. Weird... Staying on LI5 until JB comes out I guess. LI5 is decent.

Hi,
My defy developed cracky sound while on the calls. I have read about it online. I have to give to Motorola but the problem is I'm on CM7 RC1. I have flashed full sbf. I want to go back to official froyo for India. Is it possible to flash official Froyo 2.2 sbf or will I brick my phone. Please help.
P.S I have flashed full sbf not the nandroid back up!
Ear piece
it will work after 2 hrs if u had immersed it in water and as for full sbf i think u cannot downgrade ..i'm looking for similar ans
all d bst
If you have only flashed a Froyo SBF, going back to stock shouldn't be a problem.
Back up all necessary bits from your CM install.
Reboot into stock recovery (hold volume down on boot) and wipe data and cache.
Reboot into bootloader (hold volume up on boot).
Flash stock SBF (most available here).
yup..just flash the indian sbf using RSDlite and give to moto service center..
Just to make sure.. this is what i have done.. i have flashed froyo 2.2 nordic and the added cynogenmod RC1.. Now do you guys think that i can flash back to official froyo and one last bit.. is it worth to get defy repaired so shall i sell it off.. I don't want to get the ear piece issue again!
PLS HELP GUYS.. THANKS FOR ALL THOSE WHO REPLY.. RESPECT!!

Yeah, as far as I know, if you are on one Froyo base ROM, you should be able to flash between other Froyo ROMs without issue. I've only had experience of going between Nordic and UK but I don't remember seeing downgrade issues on any of the other Froyos.
With regards to what to do with the phone - it's up to you. If you like it, keep it (assuming the repair cost isn't silly) I would like to think that the newer units don't suffer the earpiece issue, so once repaired it should be fine. Having said that, I've not encountered the issue on my phone... yet.
Ok. I seem to have this problem as well. Started a couple of days back when i was using CM7. Installed MIUI and also tried in 2.2 nordic, same problem. Crackling voices, cant understand what the other guy is saying. Good voice quality through earphones and loudspeaker. Is this an earpiece problem?
@OP, did you send it back to Motorola? Am in Bangalore, dont kow where to find a Motorola dealer
Thanks guys.. I have flashed the official froyo using MSU. Now will take it to Moto.. But the official froyo is absolutely rubbish.. Freezes and very annoying! Wish switch back to CM7.. It was running awesome until the ear piece issue..
How come this earpiece issue crops up after a few days? I have had my phone for almost a month and things are going good so far.

So my phones been rooted on Aokp for about a month now and its been working fine. However today I discovered that when making calls I cannot hear the other person unless I have headphones or speaker is on? I've already tried rebooting and odin to stock but its still not working? Any ideas or fix
Sounds like the hardware went.

It's the hardware. Unroot the phone if needed and take it to Sprint. They will "look" at it and order a new one if you have insurance. I'm currently waiting for my new one cause of the same issue plus half a dozen more. Tired of being the Tool on the bluetooth just to use my phone normally. I know it has nothing to do with the software because the repair tech tried to 'Odin' it and reinstall everything OTW. This seems to be a common accurance when rooting. I can't be sure in my case cause my phone fell out of my pocket bounced off the concrete and into a pool. I noticed all the problems after that happened. Good luck
I flashed the newest AT&T modem and no luck.
Tried several ROMs snd no luck.
Bad hardware?
Phone is barely a month old..
It was working great and suddenly quit.
I have dropped it once but it's been in a case since purchased.
Mehh..
Same thing happened to me and another guy. I'll be updating my progress.

I actually just unrooted it, returned back to stock and exchanged it.
Pretty sure it was a hardware problem..
Those secret codes are sweet..
My bluetooth reception in both of my cars are good, but I used the Plantronics Voyager, and Jawbone Era 3.0 and I get static when I'm a few feet away and so on. The Plantronics was great on my S2. When I got my S3 I put the Official CM10 rom on it right away and never used the bluetooth with the stock rom.
So my question is could my issue be the rom itself maybe it has a different bluetooth radio then stock, or is this a weak bluetooth chip. I read other ppl had issues with weak bluetooth on this phone as well, I had the phone for 3 months and I do have a Best Buy 2 years replacement warranty, so I'm not worried about replacing the phone, but I don't want the same problem is it's the rom, or radio. Any advice?

Well, lets start off by the easy. Make a back up of your current setup, flash in the stock ROM, and see if that has the same issue, if it doesn't then warranty it out, if it doesn't then It would leave to reason that t is an issue with the ROM your running.

I was thinking the same thing I just needed someone with more experience and knowledge to confirm it. Thanks.
Ever since I flashed the 4.2.2 radio for my VZW Galaxy Nexus I have been having signal drops. I thought flashing the old radios back would work but it didnt. I tried 4.0.4 and 4.1.1.
My cell reception and 3g or 4g data will shut off intermittently throughout the day. It lasts for about a minute and then I'm back to normal. I can't send text during this period but I have still never had a call dropped.
Does anyone know what the problem could be? I have tried a variety of ROM/radio/kernel combinations and nothing helps. Like I said, it began when I flashed the 4.2.2 radios and the problem persists through other radios. I never had a reception problem where I live before I flashed the JB radios.

I'm wondering if I flashed the radios wrong. Like I said I've tried the exact same radios that I was on before and I'm still getting frequent signal drops
Have you tried restoring one of your back ups that not 4.2?

I've been having this exact same thing. I even went to the stock rooted VZW 4.2.2 Rom and tried to reflash the new radios with no luck. I am going to try and see if I have an old update that is prior to the 4.2.2 radio update but I usually clear out old backups to save memory. I'll let you know if it works when I get home. I am at the point of unrooting the phone and going to a straight vzw 4.2.2 stock to see if that will fix my issue. I loose calls all the time and can berely get texts out in places I know I used to have great service. I'll keep you posted. I did find a good post with all the radios but I am confused on finding the correct MD5Sum even after using root explorer and having it calculate it for me. The MD5Sum that comes up doesn't match any of the ones he was giving for the update versions.

maybe that will help you?
Update:
I Went back to the last backup i had in early February. I'm pretty sure it was before I installed the new radios. That didn't help. I went back to stock 4.1.1 (JRO03O) and installed the VZW 4.2.2 update unrooted to see if I could just get back to having my signal good and then reroot. My signal is still dropping out and pretty low in areas I used to have great signal. I don't know, maybe I messed up the harware when I installed the radios but even being stock unrooted with the VZW software has not helped me. Not sure what to do from here. Let me know if you figure something out.
I'm having this same issue. Flashed the 4.2.2 from Google the other day. I'm rooted and have the tethering mod and a battery meter mod.
I was thinking about flashing an older radio and see how that is.
Otherwise this new build is awesome, I'm glad I decided to try stock again.

Did you ever get the issue resolved with the radios? My signal is still horrible after installing the VZW 4.2 update unrooted.
