Has anyone else had problems with the voicemail notification/icon not showing when you have a voicemail?
I'm on Task's ROM, but I don't think it is ROM related because I have tried other ROMs and I didn't get notifications either.
I read in another post that it was carrier related so I phoned Bell and they said it wasn't anything on their end. I asked them to reset my voicemail, but that didn't work either.
Would love to get this fixed, and would appreciate any help.
Cheers

I've used various ROM's and have never had a problem with voicemail notifications. Have you setup your voicemail? You stated they've reset the voicemail, in most cases you will need to reset the account up.

I too have the same issue. Ever since moving from an ICS rom I have never received the VM notification.
This appears only to be an issue with Bell. I have heard of a few people say it works with bell but that's not the case.
If I revert to a touchwiZ ROM then I get notifications.
I have been using YouMail which is free for the basic service.
Maybe well get luck with the first 4.2 build. Fingers crossed. I hate touchwiz and aosp or aokp are the only way to go.

From my experience, no AOSP-based Jelly Bean ROM displays voicemail notifications for Bell. As a Bell user, I only receive voicemail notifications (and the accompanying text message) on TouchWiz ROMs and CM9. It's a shame because I'd love to use CM10.
Running task aokp on Rogers and have the same issue

Not sure if there is already a post for this however as Sunday just past I not been able to receive a SMS or MMS on my Evo4g. At first I thought it was cause I had updated to the latest Decks Rom however I have also tried sense Roms and still nothing.
If this is in the wrong place, forgive me and place post where it belongs thanks

But yes, my mother is experiencing the same issue but i am not. Ive read a few posts that it has been mostly in the South East region. Try to flash a stock sense, update profile and PRL, if nothing after that. Call sprint and see what they can do for you. Make sure your on a 1.0 sense rom when if and when you call.

Google voice might have something to do with it if it is installed. If not i would wait a while because sprint is updating all their towers so it might be a tower issue and blow over soon. But in the meentime i would download the google voice app and pair ur sprint number to it so you can text if u need to. But u need internet on to use it just so u know.
Edit: I'm having no issues here near Chicago

I have CM7 nightly #155 (AOSP 2.3.5) and have no issues with MMS, receiving and sending perfect. I'm in Miami.
I switched back to a sense rom. Got a backlog of text messages. Then updated profile wiped everything twice then back to asop. Text and mms is now working.

I just switched over from Evo LTE to GS3 today.
Is there really no visual voicemail for this phone, or even a voicemail notification alert?? I have to dial my phone number to see if I have any voicemails.
What kinda whack sh*t is this?
Or... is it just my phone is a POS?

I have VVM..you may be alone in this one. Any Sprint stock ROM has VVM and pretty much most of the TouchWiz based roms also have it. AOSP and AOKP roms don't include it tho..

my s3 has the native sprint vvm app. it's like $2 more a month.. totally not worth it considering half the text it displays is wrong.. has anyone managed to unlock the app? that annoying "free" trial is a bit annoying each time the app is opened.

I can appreciate you trying to be a smart alec but it wasn't there either.
But no worries, I already went ahead and rooted my phone and flashed a Stock rooted rom on.
Thanks for trying anyway.
I have an S3 that's flashed to MetroPCS.
Will flashing custom roms remove my carrier settings?
I'm just curious how "am I safe" related to your question haha. But flashing a custom rom made for sprint phones and service is very risky and not a good idea.

In short, stay away if you want to stay alive

neither of the above users are correct.
It doesn't matter what carrier it is made for, you can use it with MetroPCS. you might want to remove the Sprint specific apks from /system/app, but other than that, it will continue to work with MetroPCS.
I am running Jelly Bomb 7.0 and my wife is running Freeza's LJ7 leak. we both have 3g speeds, internet, mms in/out, voicemail notifications, etc.
If you are missing any of the above, check out my guide on how to get it done on the S3.

Thanks for the informative reply. What about the Sprint JellyBean update?
Sent from my SprintroPCS Samsung GS3.
You said custom roms. If you get the Sprint OTA you will lose root.
Understand that the settings that make your phone connect to MetroPCS,
Send and receive text messages and get 3g access can not be affected or overwritten by flashing any kind of rom or by receiving an ota.
However, mms requires modification to the APN, which requires root access.

BUUUUT I can root Jellybean once I get it.
The reason I asked is because I had an Evo 3D before this, and for some reason, when I would flash an AOSP ROM, my phone would lose its carrier settings and go back to Sprint. I think the phone had a modified or repaired ESN.
I can not believe how mean you guys are. Would you feel good if your Cat got killed just because of a careless ROM flash?

well, I guess I spoke too quickly. I have only ever used phones with clean ESN. I don't know how "repaired" or "modified" ESNs work.

I really am lost here.
Nevermind I took a shot at it and I am happily on CM10 right now. Also, I did the update through ODIN and that worked.
Also on a side note to the rest of you, Don't give me smart ass replies to a simple question. I don't need that. Thanks.
Have any VM US users installed the official update from Kies for their "Samsung Galaxy II" (Epic 4G Touch) yet? Have you had any problems? Has anything improved? The two problems that I read about so far are:
- Google Now closing quickly. Seems there is a fix by clearing cache or reset.
- BT not stable for some audio devices.
How is your battery life, has it improved, I read one report on the Sprint device that it did.
Please let me know of your experience with the official VM Jelly Bean, id GB28 US update from Kies, good or bad, thanks.

Similarly, i only meant to say that even if you are dissatisfied with the update, there are easy methods readily available to go back to the ROM you are on now.
You asking if anyone else has tried the ROM is fine. The other user complaining that it's too difficult flies in the face of everything that xda is about.

Also does anyone know if Virgin Mobile has Visual voice mail build in, or are they still on the dial in / old indicator style of voice mail.
Thanks.:fingers-crossed:

Hi wizard, this thread is about the official Samsung update via Kies. I am not sure about VM-specific ROMs as I am not rooted.
Currently on stock ICS, Virgin has visual voice mail but it only seems to work sometimes for me. I am not sure how it will work on JB or if it will even exist on the official JB. I am pretty sure some vendor-specific features like Sprint ID and Virgin Mobile ID are lost in the official JB release.

I guess I miss understood the thread. The title implied there was a E4gT with a Virgin Mobile GB28 based rom in existence.
I am looking for a phone.apk, that used the non-visual voice mail system, which is comparable with the E4GT. I was hopping I might be able to get it from this rom.

If it takes you more than 5 minutes to read how to click a button once, you may want to stay on the stock rom.

Im thinking of installing a different rom that may work, suggestions?
I don't like to suggest roms.... I say try them all. Lol Everyone has different needs and tastes.... So it's pointless to give my opinion.
But yes... Flashing a new rom should fix it. Just make sure to read the opening post for instructions.... Carefully. Reading through the last however many pages of the thread is always a smart idea also. You'll find out about bugs and stuff, and see what folks at saying about it.
