Hi guys, I recently rooted my Samsung Galaxy S3 and have tried to backup using clockwork recovery mod. Whenever I go to Backup and restore>backup then I get an error saying "can't mount to path". Also, when I plug my device into the computer windows starts to download the drivers then says it cannot find it then fails. How can I fix these errors and is there another way I could backup my firmware and apps?

Sounds like some type of corruption has occurred. What version of CWM are you using? Some have reported SD Card corruption using older versions of CWM and although I've never had a problem switched to TWRP and have never encountered any problems; you may want to give it a try... Can be easily flashed via Goomanager.
On a side-note, you may need to reflash your ROM if you've encountered corruption, best bet is to try and do another backup after you install TWRP.

That's an older version, so I'm suspecting you've encountered some type of corruption. I believe you'll need to use ver. 6.0.x.x to get full compatibility, or as I previously mentioned, install TWRP.

I use 6.0.3.1 "touch" cwm also, never had an issue. Maybe reflash recovery from ROM manager?

Rom Manager doesn't seem to know that I've got CWM installed. When I rooted and installed CWM I didn't do it through Rom Manager originally. Now CWM won't let me use it to manage my backups and keeps asking me if I want to install CWM? I've got Google Wallet installed so I'm a little nervous flashing things needlessly.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
edit: CWM v5.5.0.4
do you try "wipe cache" and "advanced->wipe dalvik cache?"
Thanks, I just tried, it took quite a while to clear the cache. When I booted up it went through a whole Optimizing Apps process, I'm not sure if that was due to wiping the dalvik cache? But it still didn't fix the Rom Manager issue.
Its probably not yet compatible if you have the touch version of cwm installed, so it wants to flash the standard one. Or you could always just let rom manager just reflash cwm overtop and then you may be good to go.

Maybe it can't detect it? I know we had to set which CWM version we had installed on the SGS.
Maybe try to run the install?

I don't have the touch version installed (doesn't seem to be the touch version anyway). I should have said this in the first post but it CWM v5.5.0.4.

Flashing CWM over CWM shouldn't wipe my phone right? It's only the stock bootloader that requires a full wipe?
I installed ROM manager and then CWM via ROM manager last night and its CWM v5.5.0.2 which ROM manager thinks is the latest: perhaps it can't deal with 5.5.0.4 yet...

ah, that would probably do it...guess i'll just wait it out a little longer, thanks
I have the exact same issue as this Rom Manager refuses to see I have CWM installed so just keeps telling me I need to install it it also can't download and flash its own version and just freezes after download
So any updates on this or more users experiencing it ?
I think I've found the solution. In ROM Manager tap the menu button at the top and then tap Manual Flash Override. Next it'll ask you if you've flashed CWM manually so tap OK because that's what we've done. Next pick which GN you have and then choose CWM 3.x+. There you have it, it should work now.
Don't use ROM Manager - problem solved!!
Seriously, though, it's a TERRIBLE piece of software
I'm fairly new to using it but it seems decent, why is it so terrible? I had an eris before this and did everything manually through recovery, this seems like it's a lot better than that.
It's just more trouble than it's worth. Why not just manually flash CWM using fastboot and get your head around that as opposed to an app which can - frankly - break things?
Flashing it via fastboot is what causes the above issue. Since you flash it manually rom manager can't see it, that's why I posted the above steps to kind of "force" rom manager to see the manually installed version.
But if you're not using ROM Manager then what's the issue? Copy ROM to SD card, reboot to recovery, flash ROM...where is ROM Manager needed in that equation?
If you're not using it then there is no issue, but this thread isn't about using it or not, it's about getting it to work with the galaxy nexus when you manually flash CWM.
I like it for the backup and restore feature and being able to change the names used to backup
Hi guys. I have a huge problem. Few minutes ago I tried to install CyanogenMod 7.2-GIO-KANG by use CWM v5.0.2.7. Everything appeared to be ok, but when phone reboot I just can see white word ANDROID on a black background and nothing more. Phone just stop on this screen. Is there any resolution for my problem? I modded lot of phones, this is my first crash. Thx for every advice. Bye
Same issue. Is there a way to restore to stock firmware without odin? Such as from the recovery console?
If before you had an official rom, you must use the ext4 formatter. I think you'll find it in the thread! Hope to be useful

Have you downloaded gio_v1.0.ops?
That may cause the "an unnamed file was not found" problem
all you need to do is "wipe data/factory reset" ... i didn't use any ext4-formatter and it works well..

I have this issue too.
Im new to android but I followed the thread, I:
Root
install CWM, then nandroid backup
flash CM7 in CWM
I downloaded the CM7 KANG file and tried several times, thinking file might be corrupt. Same problem.
Unfortunately my backup didn't work, so I'm ordering a Jig to fix my phone.
But I'd like to know what went wrong.
I didnt reformat my SD card with 4ext though, should I have?
Thanks

Hey guys,
So im having trouble flashing cm 10.1 or any other rom on my samsung galaxy s3 i747m (rogers)
i have read all the other forums but still cant figure out my problem. i rooted my phone a few days ago and everything worked perfectly, i started out with cwm recovery and i kept getting error 7... when trying to flash cm 10.1 nightly.
i thought at first maybe i have the wrong file but im pretty sure its not the case.
i then updated Supersu, that didnt solve my problem either.
then i deleter cwm recovery and installed twrp with goo manager (latest version)
and now i get failiure to install....
im sure i am going through the right process as i have watched many videos and read the forums
ex: backup/ wipe cache/ wipe dalvik cache/ factory reset/ then install rom / and gapps
gapps works but i am never able to install the cyanogenmod nightly always says failiure to install..
Please help!
This is a bootloader issue. Please check out and carefully look over the information provided at the top of post #2 of the link in my signature.
thanks
Thanks a lot, i got the bootloader file. however when i use ondin, should i load it with PDA or Bootloader?

then i get the option to delete cache and dalvik cache which i had already dont prior to install.

You don't have to delete data I always do to get rid of clutter
It won't wipe your sd card (that option is in advanced wipe). You should always move your backups and important stuff to your sd.

I am trying to get this ROM installed on my Sprint S3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2148306. My phone is rooted and I have TWRP 2.5.0.0 installed. When I download the file on my pc and transfer it to my phone, I boot into recovery, wipe the data as recommended (already did a backup), and when I try to install, it says "Failed". I can get some other ROMS to work (Goodness, etc.) but this one I can't. The file name is Liquid-JB-v2.5-OFFICIAL-d2spr.zip. Any ideas as to where to start? I can't post in that ROM thread because I don't have more than 10 posts.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

It's either a bad download like evoer said, but more likely it's the firmware you're on. Starting with v2.5, you need to be on MD4 before you can flash the Rom. It'll fail otherwise.
The best way to get on MD4 is to go over the Freeza's Stock Rooted Rom thread and grab the MD4 Firmware update zip:
MD4 Firmware:
MD4 Firmware/modem/baseband update
MD5: EEEAFDBE59CF9C5B492B1A591EC92D02
Click to collapse
The filename should be: Galaxy-S-fre3-MD4FirmwareModemAIO.zip
Just boot into recovery and flash this zip. Restart your phone and verify in Settings - about phone that the baseband ends with "MD4." Then reboot into recovery and flash LiquidSmooth like normal.
Let me know if you have any more problems.

topherk and evoer, thanks a BUNCH for helping me with this. That was the problem. As soon as I did a restore, flashed the new MD4, verified it, then flashed liquid, it worked like a charm!

Okay, I'm new to Android and I heard this is the go-to spot for help. Anyway, this is what happened to my Wind SGH-T999V. Mind you i'm VERY new to this rooting thing
I rooted my S3 by using TWRP 2.6.3.0 and i used odin3 v1.85 and it worked. I downloaded a root checker and it said i'm rooted. Then i put CM 10.1.2 on my sd card and wanted to install it via TWRP recovery but it gave me an error that said "No MD5 filed found" or something along those line.
I then tried to use different versions of twrp ( twrp 2.6.1.0) and a different CM (10.1.1) but i still got the same "no Md5 found" error. So, a friend then told me to ditch twrp all-together and download CWM instead. So, I download recovery clockwork touch 6.0.3.7 and put it on my phone.
THEN, i tried to go back to the recovery boot place, but after that small blue font saying "recovery boot", my phone goes black. I dont see the old twrp recovery or the clockwork one.
I just really want to have Cyanogenmod on my phone, i've been having a hard time. Help please?
Just disable the md5 check, most or the ROM files are not going to include a hash file, but will flash fine. TWRP or CWM will error out if the flash fails.
Also, it sounds like your recovery install failed, just reinstall using ODIN and a file from @DocHoliday77 (I recommend TWRP over CWM, but it is just preference)
It's already unchecked.
Install TWRP and try again, should work without issue. Also, redownload the ROM file, preferably the latest version, 10.1.3RC2 (I think)

Don't use RC2. If you want stable, use 10.1.2. get.cm, filter it for your device. I think Doc also has them in his signature.

"Stable" is relative, the RCs are just as good.

You need to edit the install script because your device isn't supported. Or you can download Doc's version.
Actually I'm pretty sure cm includes the T999V, but I'm betting the firmware needs to be updated.
Look in Aerowinders Sig for the links to the firmware. In that OP you should find a link to the thread with the T999V firmware.
Or, you can go to my T999L thread and get the Rom there. But w/o updated firmware it may be buggy.
