[Q] wifi frozen on AOKP 4.1.2 - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i am facing an issue with wifi on my htc desire with AOKP based JB ROM (sites.google.com/site/androidromporting/changelogs).
It is basically frozen, when i go to wifi in settings, at times the screen stays blank and never loads. at times it gets stuck at "turining wifi on..." othertines it shows the wireless network and similar does not react when i choose to connect. stays inert.
i suspect that a voip calling service that i was using caused this issue when it froze during use. I subsequently froze that app using titanium and even uninstalled it altogether a little later.
i am not really finding any solutions on the net. some have suggested a factory reset which i am vary of doing as i am currently travelling..
i really am missing the use of wifi in my hotel room for using things like viber for calling back home.
any suggestions (short of factory reset) will be welcome.

try using swift wifi widget to connect to a network:

[Q] WiFi and Bluetooth issue

My friend owns a vzn galaxy nexus and used to be on CM9 nightlies. We would usually be on the same build but he had an extremely poor range with connecting to WiFi and Bluetooth. The best suggestion was to do a data wipe and put on a new rom. Jellybean has been put on and the pro lem still remains for him. My phone is on jellybean as well but does not have this issue..suggestions?

Wi-fi
I installed JB today and like many people found that wi-fi seemed weak on signal. Please check this link. I applied this and my wi-fi was back to its previous state if not better.

P.S. I'm the friend w/ the messed up WiFi and Bluetooth. My phone was turned off, charging before..

[Q] WiFi stops working after a few minutes

Don't know if it has been covered already, but a quick search didn't turn up anything.
I am on 4.04 stock and the problem is, i can connect to the wireless network just fine, and everything works for some time.
Quite soon, no webpages open anymore and everything just gets timed out. The connection, however, is there and signal is perfect.
I slide wifi off, then on, it reconnects and everything works again for a short period. Any idea what could be causing this and what a workaround could be?
Have you tried resetting your wireless router and modem? Sometimes that happens to me, no matter what device or rom I'm using. Shows it perfectly connected but nothing opens. I make a habit to reset my modem and router weekly now to avoid it.

I'll try it right away. My laptop however stays nicely connected and has zero wifi issues, but i'll give it a go and report back.
No help unfortunately. Wifi stays connected, however there is no internet connection after 5-10 minutes.
Is your battery level low, some battery saving feature is active ? Just guessing ?!

Try reinserting your sim card, helped me a couple of times
Well, that's the thing. No mods, no nothing extra running, battery full or almost empty makes no difference. Sometimes the connection dies in one minute, the phone's personal best is like 10 minutes probably
I will try and remove the simcard, however i am unsure how this could affect anything. I am willing to try anything at this point, this is realy frustrating.
I have the exact same problem. Currently I'm running Android Revolution 15.0, but it did the same with Renovate rom. I have hboot 1.31 atm.

I also have the 1.31 Hboot, wonder if that could be part of the problem...otherwise everything is stock.
I'l check out the topic, thank you!
Had this issue too. I switched to only use G band on my wifi box. N band was always making my hox s wifi "freeze"

count me in, ARHD hboot 1.31
problem showed up after rooting and flashing JB roms, anyway the problem existed on hboot 1.28

[Q] [Rom] 04-04-2013 [JDQ39][Unofficial] Cyanogenmod 10.1 WiFi problem

Hello good people of XDA. I am currently using the above rom by PipelinerArd.
The latest build (04-04-2013) is almost flawless. Everything is working great except for the Wifi.
While the device is connecting to the router, and while I'm standing less than a meter from it, it shows only one or two bars (in the Wifi meter).
Surrounding my house I have about 6-7 other wifi broadcasting network which normally the phone would "see" (e.g. with the Android Revolution HD ROM) with this rom it sees only my Wifi.
If I exit the room and move approx. 6-7 meters away from the router, with only one wall interfering, the phone disconnects from the router.
Anybody else has the same problem? Any suggestions?
wifi doesn't work at all here , same rom , i am unable to turn it off after i turned it on for the first time , even after rebooting !

Wifi Calling - Callers can't hear me

Looking for some help, with WiFi Calling.
Tried three different locations
-Home Uverse - 18 Mbps
-Friends House - 24Mbps
-Work - Verizon 6Mbps
The call connects perfectly, and I can hear the caller but the caller can't hear me.
Any ideas?

Looks like T-Mobile is having issues with their WiFi Calling servers yet again. I had this same problem for months on the Note 3 until I complained and they opened a master trouble ticket and fixed it on their end.
I guess their servers are glitching up again.

Just made a few calls on WiFi calling and it all works. Sorry bro best I can do is say uninstall xposed and reboot and check.
AWESOME G3
Wifi range sucks on this phone probably phone thinks u far away and looses signal even though it shows strong bet if u close to router it will work but if u walk away it will lose signal and show connected.I dont know if a new modem or build will fix this.
Mine works fine
Not sure what the issue was, but ended up reverting back to stock.
I then re-rooted, and tested Wi-Fi Calling prior to, and after all major changes. End result....phone that is setup exactly the same, with the same apps etc...and Wifi Calling is still working.
They had a new update today thats supposed to fix some bugs with wifi calling
I've had the same issue. Most calls go through fine but probably 10% connect and there is no audio. I have to turn off WiFi and or reboot the phone to make calls correctly.

Had that happening on my Note 3. Reported it on their forums and they opened a master trouble ticket, had someone contact me to take down my info (router make, model, firmware version, phone firmware version, settings, etc.), and two days later it started working properly - apparently it was an issue on their end.
I suggest you post on their support forum with a detailed description of your problem and the steps you tried to remedy it so far.
Mine has this issue about 30% of the time. ..no rhyme or reason Must just be another "you get what you pay for" related issue. I'm actually going back to Verizon on the M8 sometime tomorrow

I've had Verizon for about 10 years up until about a week ago. It's been way too frustrating since switching. Sure, I'll save about $30/month with T-Mobile, but I'll have to put that $30 towards Ativan and Clonadine prescriptions if I stick with them.
My experience with T-mobile's unpredictable service quality has been a nightmare. Can't do it anymore.

Plus the M8 looks BAD ASS!!!

Wifi connection keeps dropping in Chrome - ERROR -->dns_probe_finished_no_internet

Hopefully someone here can advise me on this issue I have been getting with my Nexus 5x and using chrome but issue also happens in youtube. Note I have not setup my phone with a SIM yet, just been testing out the phone features and Android 6.0
When connected to my home networtk chrome and youtube work fine but every now and then the web page loading seems to stall in chrome, and then i watch the wifi signal disconnect and then reconnect and then the web page will load, but before it does i get the error message
dns_probe_finished_no_internet and sometimes its ERR name not resolved or ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED or similar inside chrome.
it seems to recover after about 30secs and then i have full wifi again. it just keeps happening This seems to be random at the moment but is consistent. My home network is pretty solid and all my other devices work fine and do not exhibit this issue, my wifi is solid.
I have done all the usual forget network, wipe system cache and static IP etc. nothing makes a difference. can anyone shed some light what might be causing this?
thanks
Did you manage to solve the problem? I got my phone last week and I am having the exact same problem.
I should mention that I am on stock unrooted and using At&t network. I checked the wifi connection from my older phone lg optimus g and it seems to be fine. It keeps on disconnecting and reconnecting on my 5x though and I think that is draining the battery faster than anything else. My top two battery uses are android system and android os rather than sceeen.
Do you think it is a hardware problem?

Have the same problem with mine after one week's use. Was fine until this morning.
On hold with warranty service now and will be getting a replacement.
Don't wait, use the warranty.

My problem was more global than just while using Chrome. Don't know if that matters....

Any luck getting rid of the problem? I even factory reset my phone but the problem is still there. My problem is also global, not just in chrome. I think that there is a problem with the wifi of the phone. I do not want to root and install a new kernel as of yet. Just want to stay on the stock rom.
What did the warranty service say? Is this a common problem with the 5x? I would rather not RMA if the problem can be solved by some other means. I put on the screen protector so well. Don't want to do it all over again lol.
Also, is Android OS on the top of the list in battery drain? It is for me and I think the wifi connecting and disconnecting prevents the phone from sleeping.

Tried everything, reset network connections and then tried a complete reset and attempted new setup but the wifi was too flaky to complete the setup. Since the problem happened while I was using the phone I was not able to observe the effect on battery life. I would imagine it would take a big hit trying to connect and failing continuously.
Did this before calling Google so I wouldn't have to do this while on the phone. Warranty Service did not mention any ongoing problem with the wifi.
Am setting up the replacement currently. I'll save rooting, etc. until I've used the phone for a good while.
Bite the bullet and send it back. It's not going to heal itself.

Hi guys,
Just updated to 6.0.1 OTA and yes the problem remains and seems even worse now. Can I ask how you go about the warranty? Is there a number to call google directly?

oops sorry I should have said im in the UK, dont worry il find it. Can I ask is your replacement phone working correctly now, no wifi drop outs as before? if so what version of marshmallow are you on?
I've only been using it about 8 hours but no problems so far. The phone updated to 6.0.1 during the initial setup.
You can find the phone # for the UK by using a 'Contact Us' link in the Devices Store on Google Play.
ok so I seem to have fixed this issue been having and it turns out the phone itself is fine. The issue was with 2.4Ghz wifi networks. There are quite a few in my local area and there is probably a lot of cross talk on channels. So i setup a 5GHz network and my n5x seems rock solid since ive connected to that. no one single drop out all day! speeds are also much faster im getting 150MB download speed on wifi lol...
i changed nothing else on my phone just for the record. hope this maybe also helps someone else

I think I have an issue with the college wifi as well. I asked my friends who are using the same wifi network and their phones also do not seem to remain connected. I thought that it was an issue with my phone but I guess it is not.
To test that, I connected my phone to my college wifi all night and when I woke up in the morning, more than 20% battery had been used probably because of disconnecting and reconnecting continuously. The next night, I connected to some other wifi and there was less than 3 or 4% drop in battery overnight.
I hope they upgrade the college wifi as the battery drain is very annoying.
