Got my sgs3 Sunday and when I got home turned on WiFi and started playing with it I notice that I lose network for a second after about 15 mins and my WiFi icon on the status bar disappear but network comes back on .. but in settings it is greyed out and I can't turn it off then back on till I reboot 0_o...thought maybe after I rooted and flash AOKP it would be fixed but no! I'm on T-Mobile and AOKP..so is it a bad WiFi driver or...? Any ideas?
#*0011# press the menu key. Select wifi. uncheck wifi power saver mode. Its should be green when on black off. Make sure its not on and done go back to home screen. Your phone should reboot the wifi driver and your done.
This method works for 4.0.4 any of the roms. Cm10 doesn't work. Cm9 haven't tried but I'm sure it'll work for u.
Hit the thanks if I've helped!

JB has these wifi issues I was expiriencing the same problems on cm10 as well. (I know not the same but both are jb) I decided to downgrade to the intrigue rom r3. It has smooth transitions. Real buttery and it let me access the wifi power saver mode by down ng the method above. I'll look into aokp and see if I can find a fix for u.

For anyone who has already turned off WiFi PSM, is anyone experiencing this setting turning itself back on? I have turned it off twice today and every so often it turns back on which ends up turning my WiFi back off...

Question: are you rebooting your phone when this happens?
Cuz if you are that's normal on every reboot you have to go back and turn it off again.

I was not rebooting the phone. I am currently trying a different rom to see if that solves anything.
Weird

Well it still keeps happening. I switched from intrigue rom to freegs3. I'm currently using the phone at work and it happened right before my eyes while using Tapatalk... I had to turn off power saver mode yet again

would the method above work for me? since yesterday, my wifi kept turning on by itself. After I turned the wifi off for like a couple minutes then it'll turn on automatically again. I have the Keep Wifi on during sleep set as "only when plugged in" and it never happen to be before until yesterday. My power saving in the setting menu has always been off too. Please help! :crying::crying:
Install the app called "Wifi Fixer" app to the solve the issue.
Whatever Google did to cause a variety of wakelock problems, having a strong wifi signal seems to solve them. Apparently, wakelocks occur when there are unreliable connections to Google's servers.

Have a weird bug that comes and goes and can't figure out why or how to fix it. Long pressing home should bring up all open apps and let you get to task manager. Most the times it works, but every once in awhile it will completely stop working. A reset fixes it or if i just wait awhile it will come back.
Anyone else get this or know of a fix? Home button still works, just not the long press

Always works for me, too. Was just using it last night before bedtime.
In my 2 weeks of my note2 this just happened to me last night. I have no idea why and it scared the hell out of me. I just rebooted and it hasn't reappeared. Don't really know what to tell ya =(
Im running jedi 3.1 rom w perseus kernel

Have you done a restart? If that doesn't fix it so a factory reset.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
Restarting my phone fixes it, but its just annoying to do it to fix it. It shouldn't do it in the first place. Also it will come back and start working on its own too. Most of 90% of the time it works though

*bump* its been awhile, curious if anyone else has been getting this or has a fix other than restarting. I have to restart my phone every other day because sometimes apps like xda won't open and I can't close them in the background.

Okay guys, I've tried everything I can think of, but I just can't seem to get this phone stable. Running several different ROMs (Dandroid, Carbon, Liquidsmooth, Cyanogen, AOKP) this phone frequently will not wake up out of a sleep state and requires I hold power for 10 seconds to hard power off or pull the battery and reboot. It happens with stock clocks/governors/schedules and it happens with custom setups/OC's. I've tried bumping my min mhz up to 500mhz, which seems to work a little better, but at least once a day I have to reboot this phone due to it not coming out of a sleep. It's driving me crazy! I use my phone as my alarm clock, and at least twice a week my alarm doesn't sound off because the phone locks up in a sleep state in the middle of the night. My notification LED still works, so it's doing something, I just can't wake it up. Anybody have any other suggestions?

What's the last AOKP version you tested?
Also, seems like your phone isn't handling the 3.4 kernel very well. I'd suggest going back to a 3.0 ROM/kernel.

agreed. a 3.0 rom/kernel and a full wipe (including system).
I'm currently on a 3.0 kernel and it just locked up in a sleep state 5 minutes ago. I'm currently running Carbon 1.6.1 with the KT 3.0 kernel. The 3.4 kernel was completely unstable above and beyond just sleep state lockups, so I went back to running a 3.0-based ROM.

Not sure, it was only stock for about 10 minutes because the stock ROM was terrible.

haha. thats about as long as mine was on stock. so you've done a complete wipe (data, cache, dalvik, system) before these flashes? have you tried to odin back to stock, wiping and proceeding with flashing a ROM?
maybe odin back to stock (then wipe data and cache) and see how the phone treats you for 24 hours. if it locks/crashes again, you've got bad hardware, buddy. at that point, i would set it up for an exchange. otherwise, if it's stable, proceed with more testing. it could be a specific app thats causeing this. if you odin back, just install the most basic apps you need. maybe install the rest one at a time throughout the day until the error presents itself, if thats really what it is.
I always wipe system, data, dalvik, and cache when romming. I recently odin'd it and it was fine for a while, but now it's back to locking up again. I might just hook it up to my laptop tonight before bed, fire up ddms, and hope it locks up so I can see why.

Agree. If you flash back to bone stock and don't even root it and it still locks up, it's good for RMA.

Do as suggested flash stock ROM and see how the phone likes it. You need to see if the issue is hardware or software. Only way to do that is to have it on stock for longer than 10 minutes and see if it locks up

So I think I figured it out. It was the lock screen itself! I was using a PIN unlock earlier. I switched to a pattern lock and it hasn't died during a sleep in 2 days now. Maybe there's a problem with Android 4.2 and the PIN screen?

This is the only thread I could find with this problem. At least once a day I can't get the screen to turn on but the notification light is working. I have to hold the power button or pull the battery.
I'm on Liquidsmooth 2.1 official and before I had rooted this phone, this problem did not occur.
I was using the normal slide lockscreen but I'll try a pattern lock like you did to see if it's fixed.

What kernel version is that ROM running? If it's 3.4 it'll likely be unstable.

It's the 3.4 kernel but everything else seems to be running smoothly.
So far no problem with the pattern lock but it has only been 1 day.

The point stands, it's a problem with 3.4 kernel. Some devices simply don't like it atm.
You can try changing your minimum frequency as well as your scheduler/governor but chances are that you'll need to revert back to a 3.0 ROM/kernel until there are more updates on the ROM you're using.
You should try AOcP ROM
Its on 3.4 kernel and not one single reboot or sleep death reported on the thread.
There is also a 3.0 version that runs amazing as well

Are you on stock ? If so then just do as stated above. If you are rooted, we might need more info.
I installed several roms full wipe and still same thing some roms worst then others but over all same thing
Tried using different scheduler/governor?
Also, are you doing anything specific when it locks up? Any app being used?

And I have another problem with my nexus .
It's slow, doesnt always react to input, etc etc.
I already am on stock and it seems that I just have to live with these problems.
But the newest thing is that doesnt go to sleep. When I press the power button the device turns off for 2-20 seconds and turns then back on again. I already did a factory reset and as i mentioned above I am on Stock Firmwar/Rom (4.3).
Any ideas?
