Tried to root my GS3 tonight uding Odin 3.07 and the root66.stock_Telus_I747MVLALH1.tar but its just not happening. on two different computers (win7) I can plug it in, Odin sees it, starts the flash process, starts writing, gets to the system.img.ext4 part and then randomly fails. Sometimes the bar gets a few pixels in, sometimes it gets almost half way and it goes FAIL and Complete(Write) Operation Failed. Seems to be totally random when in the process it does it.. I've tried different USB ports and I'm using the factory USB cable.
The phone won't boot normally anymore. Depending on how I power it up it either says the Firmware is corrupt and Kies has to restore it or I get the GS3 splash screen that never goes away. Kies never connects to it so I can't flatten it that way either.
At this point I just want a phone back. I don't care if its stock or rooted.
Any ideas?
Managed to get it to take on about the 30th try but endless acore crashes. I think I've got the LE8 on when I should have the LH1. Would that make a difference?

Did you flash LE8 or LH1? LH1 is the latest for Canadian carriers I believe. Did you get an OTA notification?

Been trying all weekend to help my brother-in-law get a working phone again after a failed stock OTA update to 4.3.
Sprint told him it couldn't be fixed, so I wanted to give this a try before shelling out money. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2369125&highlight=odin+mode+only
It took a while but I got Odin to install the stock 4.3 update. It ran fine and Odin said passed. I'm not sure what happened, but it never did boot up on the reboot. Now I'm stuck with no recovery or bootmode (both give vibration like the phone is starting, but just black screen forever.) I can get to download mode on the phone, without the memory card work around. But Odin (doesn't seem to matter what version, or USB ports/cords) gets stuck at either Setting up Connection or Initialization.
I've tried updating the PIT file, recovery (stock or CWM/TWRP), and both the 4.3 & 4.1.2 stock firmware updates and none of them have worked. I also tried a stock 4.1.2 one-click with data wiping, which failed at "Get PIT for Mapping".
I'm completely baffled and would appreciate any suggestions!

Seems like I tried that one, but I tried so many things, that I'll make sure I try it today. Thanks!

That got stuck at initialization too. Thanks for the suggestion. He's just going to replace it.
Hi a few days ago my phone was restarted and it got stuck on the samsung galaxy s3 screen. It is a t-mobile sgh-t999 model. It will boot into download mode but not recovery. After trying Kies to no result. I have deleted it from my pc and attempted to recover by flashing the stock rom using odin. I've tried that many times and always fails as well.
I have reinstalled s3 drivers. Made sure Kies is completely gone. I have downloaded the stock rom and three versions of Odin 3.04 3.07 and 3.09 and I get the same results. A write failure. Does anyone have any ideas how to proceed?
One observation I've noticed is that the bar underneath the Android in Download mode never appears. Which leads me to think that it never starts the process of taking the firmware.
Any ideas what to do next?
What is the error message?
Having same trouble

Hi Serio22
NAND Write Start!!
FAIL!
Complete(write) operation failed.
Same exact issue on my sgh-t999
This morning it restarted itself (plugged into charger all night) and stuck at Samsung Galaxy SIII on screen. Recovery doesn't work and it will go into download mode. I am downloading the stock firmware from (sammobile firmwares SGH-T999) and will try installing with Odin tomorrow.
I will likely fail like you guys. I have taken such good care of the phone, never drop it, not a scratch on the screen...and this randomly happens in the middle of the night.
Please update!
Same exact issue on my SGH-T999 which makes me wonder that this is some software update issue that has possibly impacted many phones at this time.
In my case, it also restarted by itself this morning and got stuck at Samsung Galaxy SIII on screen. I started from figuring out if it was a hardware issue but the phone seems OK physically (i.e. the power button is not stuck, etc.). Recovery doesn't work and it will go into download mode like indicated by others above. I tried downloading the stock firmware SGH-T999 from Sammobile (actually a couple of different versions and tried installing via Odin 3.-07 many times but always failed with the error message above or
<ID:0/008> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/008> Complete(Write) operation failed.
I also tried installing non-stock recovery files (TWRP, trying CWM at the moment) and that worked but without success in changing anything in the initial issue.
Sounds like they are sending bad firmware bricking our phones over night. Sorry I've found no solution yet.

Just an observation. I too was only getting the
"Complete (Write) operation failed." message at first.
After trying to flash the stock rom via Odin multiple times, I now get
"NAND Write Start!!"
"FAIL!"
Hope I didn't make it worse.

SGH -t999 Pit File
Does anyone have any idea if flashing the stock rom with the T999 pit file in Odin possibly fix this problem? I've been reading about it, but can't really determine if this is the next step to troubleshoot this problem.
Write start and immediate fail in my case as well.
Keep looking into this and updating thread. I already ordered a new phone because of this but will want to fix this phone to sell it if not just sell the new one and stick with this longer...
I tried updating to the newest version of ROM using Kies but that did not work, either. Sometimes the phone cannot be recognized by Windows and sometimes Kies says it is "connecting" with the phone. When I tried updating, Kies did not see the phone, so maybe it had a negative impact on the download. I am going to uninstall the drivers and install them again just before connecting the phone to Kies and try updating again. This stuff is really time consuming.
I could not find a good CWM recovery file to flash via Odin so I did not try that. The interesting thing is that successfully flashing TWRP recovery file did not do anything - I still cannot get into recovery mode. Then I tried flashing stock recovery file again - and got the FAIL! message from Odin.
I've seen other threads talking about this issue, but don't remember if it was ever fixed. Have you guys tried different cables or computers?
I've tried a different cable (non-stock) but that did not help at all. I can try a different computer and will report here.
No update on fixing the phone...I tried everything I could on my end really. I think I will have to look at sending it in to Samsung?
I bought a used S5 on ebay. Much faster and nicer...liking it quite a bit. Samsungs update to break my phone and buy a newer Samsung worked I guess.
Daughter's SIII crashed also, her phone was bootlooping. Since her volume button doesn't work, I used a jig to put into D/L mode. Flashed T999LUVUBOH1_T999LTMBBOH1_T999LUVUBOH1_HOME.tar.md5 from Sammobile and ODIN said it passed. The phone will not go passed the "T-Mobile 4G LTE" screen. I've tried several times, always passes, always gets stuck.
Daughter doesn't mind, she's been using the Note II that I didn't want to part with after getting myself the Note 5
When flashing the stock rom with Odin, do not check anything except f.reset time. After flashing, and seeing the word reset in the status window, remove USB cable, remove battery, replace battery, boot into recovery, assuming the volume up me home button work, no perform a factory wipe.
The volume up and down button don't work?
My phone was working fine today until I took it out of my pocket and it was stuck at the Tmobile Note 2 screen. I tried multiple times to restart it and no go. Tried to go into my TWRP recovery and it appears there is no recovery.
I tried Odin tonight with the rooted stock file on here and keep getting no pit mapping. I tried with a pit file I found and it just gets stuck. From what I'm reading through google, it appears to maybe be a hardware problem. Does anyone have anything I can try? Phone was running Octos Rom with no problem for months.

See if you can Odin just a recovery image and then try to boot to recovery. I think I have a few different recovery .tar files for T889 if you can't find online. You may also want to try a different cable if you continue to get errors connecting.

I actually did try that, tried stock recovery and TWRP, both say no pit for mapping. using the tar from sammobile I did get it to start downloading one time, it went for like 45 minutes and then finally said failed at probably 3/4 along based on the bar graph that was showing on the phone. That worked after I switched USB ports on the computer although I think that was just a fluke as I tried again after it failed and kept getting the same message of no pit for mapping.

How old is your battery? This may sound crazy, but I thought my phone was toast several months ago but when I changed to a backup battery that I had all was fine. Also, try restarting your computer after you change USB ports. It may help to get Odin working properly. I have a copy of a CWM recovery that's worked for me to get me out of some similar issues. You can download it from my Dropbox here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/qx45bapmroh8k0b/Note2-CWM-6.0.4.3-SGH-T889.tar?dl=0
Hope that works. Good luck!
So I am pretty sure I messed up bad. Like really bad. So I tried rooting my sprint GS6 with the files meant for the t-mobile GS6. Now I am exhausted trying to figure out how to reverse this mess. The screen on my phone now is unresponsive. I tried factory resetting it and the screen still wont react to any of my touches. I tried to flash it with the firmware but every time I try to load the GS6's firmware in to odin3 it crashes. If you can give any help or suggestions I will be extremely grateful. Thank you.
Maybe this can help:
I still use Odin 3.10.6 - http://www.samsungodindownload.com/download/odin-download.zip
And the latest firmware build: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24459283995306913
Odin can be finicky, you might need to try different cables and USB ports until you find a combo that works. Once your phone is detected in Download mode, that TAR file should get you back up and running.

Odin crashes or the phone crashes? What version of Odin are you using? Have you verified you have a valid download via md5 hash?

Odin3 crashes, but I have found that if I leave it alone for 5 minutes Odin3 doesnt respond but eventually comes back with the .tar file loaded. I am using 10.7 version of Odin3. I tried to flash my GS6 with the stock firmware for lollipop and now it just loads to the sprint screen when turning on and it stays there or it loads to the first screen that says Samsung Galaxy s6 and stays there until I force turn it off. Thank you for responding.
Hi,
I recently got a SM-T210 from a friend to repair. The description given was that their kids factory reset the unit and won't boot anymore. First the tablet had the death sleep issue which is a easy fix. But after that the tablet simply continues to show the "Samsung GALAXY TAB3" boot screen and never finishes booting.
As I'm known with Odin I simply downloaded the original firmware from sammobile for this tablet and took the firmware version for the Netherlands as that's where I live. There are 2 4.4.2 versions available and downloaded them both. When using Odin 3.09 and higher I simply cannot install the firmware, but on Odin 3.07 it can. Although it installs the tablet still fails to boot properly and hangs at the tab logo as described earlier.
With Odin 3.09 or higher I'm not even able to install the firmware as it says that there is no PIT file and NAND flash write fails. I've found 2 PIT files for this tablet on the forums and even with the use of these PIT files it still errors with the same issue and installation seems impossible with these versions of Odin.
I've also tried installing TWRP recovery but that won't boot either. When booting the tablet with volume key up it shows the Andriod icon with the spinnng "intestines" and alot of red error messages show not able to find /system and /data. My guess is that this is pretty bad, but that is what I want to fix with the stock firmwares and/or the PIT files (LT02.pit and T210(R).pit).
I'm currently out of ideas to revive this tablet and almost start thinking that it's completely dead, but before throwing it in the garbage bin I'm wondering if anybody here is able to help me further with this issue.
If you think you miss critical information, let me know so I can supply it!
Any help is greatly appreciated and thanked for!

Nothing to loose so i should give it one more try with Kies. I remember that years ago i had a problem with a samsung phone and even Odin wasn't helping me. I did it with Kies then which fixed it. No garantuees though.

Thanks, I've tried it with Kies but it won't even recognize the tablet. When I put it in Download mode and connect it to my computer the Kies welcome screen keeps switching every 2 seconds to the connecting screen, back to the welcome screen and keeps on going like that.
Any ideas left?

Except for correct drivers etc etc not really, no.
I am facing same problem.
My Tab 3 (Sm-T210) has gone too.
Now I can't restore it.
I have downloaded Stock ROM from sammobile.org,
but I can't extract this properly.
It always says that "files are corrupted".
I am also going to be hopeless as like as you.
