Could someone help me with a charging problem with an ATT S3? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

havent dropped it or had any problems with it charging. it says its charging but its not charging. i recently updated to the latest paranoid rom and even charged it up after doing so and just now have a problem with it. I wiped cache, dalvik and fixed permissions and its not charging even though it says it is. i work at a cellphone repair store and have done all i can do to try and figure it out but unfortunately im not able to pinpoint the problem. ive also cleared battery stats with no luck. if anyone can help me then ill appreciate it very much.

[HELP] Evo only charges when off

i'm running a Gingerbread build based off of the latest nightly with stock kernel.
i've formatted my device with the formatall.zip and reloaded the ROM. i've even gone back to a stock ROM and still got the same issue. after doing this, if i plug my device up, it charges just fine while on. if i unplug the device later and plug it back up, the charging light will come on, then quickly go off and the device won't charge.
the only way i've been able to get around this is to turn it off, in which case it then charges. i get these same results whether i'm plugged into the wall or to PC.
if it were a hardware issue, wouldn't that mean it wouldn't charge at all, whether on or off?
anyone have any ideas or experience with this issue?
Same Here...
Anyone found solution yet?
My only guess would be a kernel issue or a hardware problem. Wipe your dalvik and cache and reflash your kernel. If that doesn't fix it, I do know some evo's micro usb ports go bad. I don't know if this is a symptom of that but it may be.
Thanks alot **TheSilverStig **
It was the kernel.
My phone is charging now...
Will test for a couple days and will let you know again..
For some reason www dot qap dotla/~netarchy/ is not working (Error 404)
Try http home(dot)comcast(dot)net/~evoreviews/downloads(dot)html
For now...
For me
netarchy-toastmod-4.3.1-cfs-havs-nosbc worked...
Hope that helps for you too...
Good Luck
*Happy Rooting*

Question about Quadrasense Themes and Battery Issue

I just dled and installed the Quadrasense rom last night and I absolutely love it. One thing tho.. i was trying to get to the diff themes and saw a post saying they took it out to make it more slim. Is there anywhere i can dl that file seperately? I really like having that option when using sense. And also, i know this was very stupid of me but i tried to use the die hard batt calibrator and didnt read the whole info section and did it when it wasnt charged all the way. Now no matter how much i charge my phone it will not charge all the way to a 100%. Ive had it charging since last night off and i barely turned it on right now to check messages n stuff and its barely at 55%. I have tried everything to try and fix it and nothing seems to be working. I got so frustrated i even threw the phone. Haha did i totally mess it up or is there some kind of fix for this?? I tried deleting the batt statt in the system file folder, i tried the other method where i guess u can calibrate it while using it. I tried dling other apps from the store, youtubed it, anything and everything u can imagine i probably tried. Its such a pain not being able to use it without the charger plugged into it. I factory reseted, wiped everything, reformatted my sd card (cuz it got damaged anyway from doing something) and installed a new rom also. Still NOTHING. PLEASE HELP!! Thanks in advance

[Q] [q] galaxy nexus most annoying problem

Alright guys, basically whats happening to my phone is that I would just have my phone randomly surfing the web or checking Facebook then out of nowhere it just randomly reboots. Most of the time it ges stuck on the Google screen and I had to do a battery pull and retry and after a while of repeating that it finally would load properly. .Also my phone would say that its charging even when the charger isn't even in and even it reboots sometimes it shows the charging screen when i haven't even plugged the charger in
If you guys can solve this wouthout favtory reseting that would be great !
DETAILS
-Not rooted in anyway
- Android 4.2.1
- Got it about 7 or 8 months ago
- this happened before but it would just reboot it wouldnt do anything else, I reseted it and it went away but now its back and its worse.
Any answer would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks
Sorry to say but when your phone is to the point where it has issues that seem to be system deep, the only thing you can do that is almost guaranteed to fix it is flash the factory image to your device. This is different that doing a factory reset which doesnt really do a full system wipe and reload as far as I know. Instructions can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895
Note that you will need to backup everything off your storage (files/pictures/music/etc.). This will wipe your device clean.
Lastly, if your device thinks it is charging when its not, you could have a bad port. Hopefully its just the system though which can be fixed with the above suggestions. If not, you might need to have it fixed if possible. But it sounds like a system issue.

[Q] Randomly Rebooting One X

Hi been using viper x for a couple of years on both of our phones - love it, awesome rom, never had a single issue. However my wife's phone has now developed a strange problem, initially it stopped charging and started randomly rebooting. I've had the USB port fixed last week and it's charging fine now, but still rebooting. The techy guy who fixed the USB says there's no sign of anything been wrong internally (could argue he's bound to say that)
I've tried factory reset, full wipe and reflash, running in safe mode and removing all user apps, including xposed framework. It doesn't seem as bad, but it is still rebooting and I'm out of ideas. The phone is running stock kernel.
Can anyone lend a hand and come up with what could be wrong?

This could indicate a hardware problem (faulty battery perhaps).
To eliminate that, have you tried a different kernel or a whole different ROM entirely just for testing purposes?
Or maybe a different cable or charger?

[SOLVED][Q] CQATest application appears with emergency led flash light

Hi,
I'm wondering if there's anyone else who is facing this problem or I'm just unlucky.
On last Sunday, when I was listening to YouTube Music at a low battery (around 15%), after a while the phone shut itself off. I guess it was just the phone ran out of battery so I tried to charge it. But the moment I plugged in the charger, the hidden emergency flash light in the front turned on (the one on top right). When the phone successfully booted up, an application called CQATest appeared with a notification. The phone won't charge and take SIM card anymore since then.
I've done some research and tried many methods to fix it, including reboot in the recovery, factory reset, using adb to change boot mode, reflash the rom, disabling the CQATest app. None of them could solve my problem. Disabling the CQATest app does let me to have signal again, but I still cannot get the phone charge. It shows Turbo Power connected, but not charging.
Is there anybody facing the same issue, or even better, have a solution?
Thank you.
Update: I found a solution for this. I put my phone to fastboot mode and charge it from there, overnight. Next morning, it's working normal again.
You can always try a custom ROM. And make sure to format every partition in TWRP before - format, not just wipe.
If that works you can try other stuff. If not you have a hardware issue is guess and only a phone repair could fix that.
PS: try a different charger. If it's only not charging it might be an issue there. And have you tried to charge it while the device is shut down?

Thank you for your reply. Yes I did try another charger. However I'm using a Qualcomm qualified charger so I don't think that's an issue. I brought it to UbreakIfix and they told me it's a motherboard problem so the only way to fix it is to change the motherboard. It'll cost a phone to do that. I'm just wandering if there's any body else who is having the same issue. Because my problem appeared out of no where.
That's normal. Hardware problems often appear out of nowhere all the sudden. And it's always hard the really on them down to a source.
And yes, repairs for not typical phones are always expensive. On my first Z Play the screen cracked. Seeing the price of a repair and realising I could get an unused Z2 Play for the same money you can guess what I did. Can't say I regret it too much.
