how do i just keep ktweaker's voltage and settings and not allow rom control to interfere? I notice my CPU range usually go back to default on a phone reset because of ROM control...they don't stay in the range where they are suppose to
Also how to save settings on a rom/kernel flash so I don't have to reinput everything?

In ktweaker there is an option to save settings. There is also an option to set on boot with or without a time delay. Utilize those and you should be good there. I don't think ROM control is the issue as long as your not in there messing with things, just don't use performance in ROM control, do everything in ktweaker app that's included with the kernel.
How about backing up settings... the thing is i want to disable rom control but keep my boot delay so that on boot all my services can start up at full clock speed since i underclock
Also my dialpad only comes up with 123 not the fulk dialpadd....what setting to revert it back to normal?
Thanks for the help bud

I finally got srf 1.2 to work really good. I have a few questions about voltage control.
1. Is it safe to overclock and undervolt?
2. What advantages will I see from undervolting, longer battery life?
3. Does overclocking really make that much difference, and is it safe?
4. Is there a how to, or a guide that can show me how to do it?
Thanks
Yes its safe just don't use the set on boot feature. As for battery improvement some people notice a difference and others don't I personally do undervolt. As for the guide just mess around with it for a while everyone Has different Preferences so results will always be different. I don't undervolt below 75 cause when I do I get lock ups. If you lock up just pull the battery and you'll be fine. I also recommend to use journaling ON cause if you lock up and pull the battery with journaling off you might get data corruption.
Hope this helps.

Yeah that helped but I really just don't know how to use it.

What kernel are you on?
I'm on Twilight and can overclock to 1.3ghz with full stability. I don't undervolt. Combination of my phone doesn't like it and I'm not looking to save that little battery to get wakelocks (phone doesn't come out of sleep mode because the processor speed is too slow or doesn't have enough juice to make that push.)
If you're using a kernel that can go to 1.4 or 1.5 test it for a while before you save your settings. Also consider buying the paid version. It allows over volting which may allow you to supply enough power if 1.4 or 1.5 causes freezes.
The app is pretty basic. The top bar on the first screen is how low you allow the processor to go in speed. The bottom is how fast. Lower than 100 mhz causes wakelock for me. Or used to. Haven't tried since. My settings are 200-1300 mhz. Second page is voltages. They start at default. If you have extreme, moving them to the right will overvolt and give those speeds extra power. Moving the slider to the left undervolts. Some people can only undervolt at the lowest speeds of say 100-400 mhz. It's a lot of trial and error. Have fun though!
So on the main page my settings are 200-1300, then I press apply settings. How can I tell If it is working, it does not seem that much faster? Do I have to set this every time I turn my phone on? Do I want to save thos for boot up?

When you turn your phone off then on, does it show those same settings? The speed boost will be slight. It's not like we're resurrecting Jesus here.
I froze all of the DRM services as shown in the picture below, yet it is still hogging battery resources as shown below.
Does anyone know how this is possible and how to fix this?
I'm using SleeperRom 1.0.11 and Shadow Kernel 1.03+.
Thanks.
That doesn't help. Percentages don't mean anything. ALL your applications have to run through android system. Take off android from your phone and you can't run anything. To see what is using your battery check Betterbatterystats. What files have the most time on them? Check processes and partial wakes if your battery drains while your phone is in standby. Also get CPUSpy and make sure your phone goes into deep sleep when in standby and not on charge.
Just because it lists DRM in the android system does not mean it is using more than a second or two of quick checking services. This is why some apps screw up if it is removed instead of just frozen. It has to check if the files are still on your phone.
Thanks, i'll try that app. I assumed that since it was at the top, it was using the most. Since updating to SleeperRom 1.0.11 and Shadow Kernel 1.03+, my battery does not seem to be as good even though I have not changed the way I use my phone. This is why I was investigating.
after checking betterbatterystats, I don't even see the DRM service anywhere within the app, so I guess that is good.
I guess my phone just doesn't agree with the update to sleeper 1.0.11 and shadow 1.03+

I have not tried that combo but is there a default overclocking setting? I tried SleeperROM before and it defaulted to 1100 Mhz overclock. If you came from a ROM with no OC set then that would explain it.

I usually don't touch the overclock settings and I always to do clean wipe when installing my roms, so whatever is default should stay.
voltage control is set to conservative, min 100, max 1000 Mhz.

If you set that as apply on boot after the wipes if you mean data wipe, and install then it should be 1000 max. Easiest way is just check CPUspy. Have you changed brightness on your display? Did the ROM add any apps like Gtalk with video that you didn't have before that may need to be frozen? Definitely get Betterbatterystats and check what's running.

I think the major difference is the shadow kernel and the use of voodoo color. I was previously on samurai 2.0.6 or 2.0.8 i think.
I have always had auto brightness on. Betterbatterystats did not reveal anything out of the ordinary.
I guess i'll just try a new rom/kernel combo and see if I can get better results. Thanks for your help Kenny. Betterbatterystats is a nice tool i had not known about.
No problem. I did find that voodoo color and the voodoo control app use a little extra battery plus having to increase brightness a little with voodoo color used up a little more battery.

Trying to gather up some info on why I would be experiencing random reboots on the official FF18 ICS update? Running stock ROM and stock recovery rooted. Also having poor battery life with Android OS as the culprit, not the screen brightness. I don't have it overclocked but do use setCPU with governor at on demand. Also use system tuner pro and had system control setting optimized by the application as well as auto kill setting set to aggressive. Gonna try to change auto kill to medium and revert back to stock system control settings to see if that could work. Any help, especially on the random reboots would be greatly appreciated as always. Thanks everyone.
yes same problem here, battery issue is def. a problem to I know by default I have alot of apps that sync, them being voxer, gmail, websnap for example, but these were the same exact apps I had on gb and no issue,I can just sit and watch my battery icon drop tremendously, literally 2 points every 3 minutes, the only was I can stop it is by using juice defender,I wish there was a better method
One way to get better battery life is flash agats kernel. Set the scheduler and governor to: SIO and SmartassV2. It puts your phone in a deep sleep sooner when the screen is off. Also along with the obvious of turning off sync and manually syncing. Or if you want the stock look but with tweaks try out the calk and venum tweaked ROM.

hi
Ok, so it looks like none of the overclocking apps I used works 100% on stock ROM
have to say that never had any issues with custom ROMs on my previous tablet (xoom) but on this SM-T310 Stock, just can't get it right.
Apps I used :
- SetCpu - totally not-compatible
- ROM toolbox - letting me sleep more, when used Profiles set to low CPU freq+powersave scheduler never turns on / with on-demand scheduler the CPU speed most of the time clocks 500 which eats a lot of battery and again Tab turned off in the morning
strange thing with ROM toolbox is that with or without profiles on, no matter how low the min slider freq is system always sets ( after a while ) min slider to 500 which again eats battery a lot
So I tried some other apps (no-frills / AnTuTu ) but can't tell how good they are with profiles available and because not all apps are free, maybe you can advise which one you use to overclock stock ROM ???
thanks
NONE of these tools are going to work in a 100% stock ROM because the kernel does not allow the user to mess with it's frequencies. There may be some that trick the device to do some really weird stuff but these methods are super buggy and they tend to work for a limited time until the governor/scheduler zaps what they try to do. Your only route is to flash a custom kernel the least.

hey, yeah samsung doesn't like when users adjust devices, but they did good job with multi-windows and this is the only think still keeping me with stock kernel.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2511683
I touched some no frills cpu control settings and now my benchmark results are about 19000-22000 and it used to be like 24000 i tried changing the rom and all that stuff if someone can give me the stock governator and all frequencys and that stuff it would be helpful.. Thanks i need help i dont know what to do
Now i cant do any better than 23000

Firstly, I assume by the size score that you are using Antutututu. If so then you always get variance in the scores, and yes it can be 4k difference.
Next, I'm gonna bet that you are seeing thermal throttling, where the device is turning off 2 of the cores due to heat.
I've only noticed this behaviour recently myself. It's a real pain in the arse. I've downloaded trinity kernel app to get around the problem. In his app you can turn off thermal throttling and force the two other Cores to stay on.
This isn't a permanent fix though as the settings don't want to stick for some reason that is beyond me.
Next, is there no reset to default in no frills cpu app ?
Or you can uninstall no frills and make sure you delete any folders off your sd card, then either reflash your rom or you could even flash AICP kernel.
This should get you back to default.
Finally if you still think it's your settings, you could tell us all the settings you have changed and between the guys on the forum we could tell you what to change back to.
All the best rich
**just had a quick look at no frills on play Store. Looks like there's not loads to alter.
I like interactive governer and row scheduler (as we can't get row I use deadline.)
Min frequency wants to be at 384 and max at 1728.
That's the basics.
