[Q] Why is GALAXY W considered a Low Activity Device ?!?!?!? - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

Was wondering why is the GALAXY W is considered a LOW ACTIVITY PHONE
We have here MUIU,CM9,CM10, Even CM7 was made

I think its because it doesn't get as much dev support as the more popular phones like the S3.

Is is worth

Hi there - it might be a bit of stupid question but I need to ask.
So here is my dilemma - I've been using HTC since ever - I mean for the last like 10 years and I`m really used to customizing it and stuff.
Now I like HTC because I can develop for them hack them play with bootloaders etc. I dont want a smart phone because of the phone I want it because I can develop for it.
Now I`m planning to get this new samsung phone because it is the most powerful one that I`ve found - I wanted EVO 3d but this one seems better. So my question is - is there as much development and stuff for samsung android phones as there is for HTC ?
Cheers
Considering it is a Nexus, yes. Check the Nexus S and Nexus One threads, and you'll see lots of developing and lots of breakthroughs.
the answer is simple
if you already have a better device like SGS2 or HTC Amaze don't bother
if you have a lower hardware, then it's a fine sidegrade to the GN (galaxy nexus)
Agreed if you already have a pretty good Ex Evo 3D, Galaxy S II Line I would see no update but if you are on a phone "that no longer supports newer version sof things" like HTC says about most of their pre sense 3.0 devices (-_-)
I see no reason NOT to upgrade to the Nexus Pri- Galaxy Nexus, you are guarantied updates as they come out and since it is a developer phone it will have a lot of support
I don't know if it is worth
Maybe look at Samsung forums here to see develops
Then you know, if it is worth..?
Thanks a lot - yeah i have wildfire and it doesn't support anything
so I guess I`ll be getting this one when it comes out - btw is SGS 2 better - I think this one is the best for processing power for now (i mean the Galaxy nexus)
if you like HTC, consider looking at the new HTC Rezound coming out in November as well.
when it comes to developing nothing easier than a Nexus device.
i mean fastboot oem unlock

1 - Thanks for killing "out of Topic" thread on the GSII forum :/.
2 - I find the screen on the new Galaxy Nexus to be the major selling point for me. The WVGA resolution blows on the GSII, although Super Amoled Plus is absolutely beautiful.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus GSM or Samsung Galaxy II?

I'm thinking of getting a Samsung Nexus GSM, but i'm wondering if the Samsung GS2 is better.
This is what I learn so far.
Samsung Galaxy S II
pro's
-Perfect size for me!
-great battery life
-micro SD slot
-8mp camera
con's
-screen not as good as Samsung galaxy nexus
-no ice scream sandwich
Samsung Nexus
Pro's
-720p screen
-FCC chip
-ice scream sandwich
cons(there's alot of them)
-a bit big
-poor battery life (well i'll using HSPA only, no 4G LTE, could it be as good as the s2?
-bad camera
its so tough for me to pick a phone. I like the galaxy s2, but i feel like its outdated, but at the same time the nexus has a bad battery and 5mp camera.
its so hard to pick.... can someone try and help me?
The battery life will be nearly the same. The screen on the GNex probably drains a bit more battery than the S2, but not dramatically more. Comparing GSM to GSM they're very similar. You'll be hard pressed to find a GSM user complaining about battery life. Most (all?) battery complaints are coming from LTE users.
This thread, fortunately, has been made dozens of times already. What it really comes down to is your preference for having a Nexus, and your ability to spend the extra money on the device. Don't let someone on a forum make your choice for you. Not to mention that asking the Galaxy Nexus forums will get you an undoubtedly biased answer towards getting the GNex...
I would go with the Nexus! Android to the purest!! 0 crapware. Ics

It's roughly the same size as GS2 also. So don't let that sway your decision.
Both phones are awesome I don't think you can go wrong with either. I personally love my gnex and glad I gave up my t989 even though specs aren't as good. I care more about having ics and a great dev community. So it just comes down to what do you care about and want more?

when we got our phones i chose nexus and my gf s2. both have the same size, nexus may me a millimeter bigger bit its nothing. my subjective opinion is:
- nexus is made for a human hand, s2 is a slippery fish, it doesn't rest, does not provide a point of ballance
- resolution makes such a drastic difference. my gf runs ICS on her s2, it looks crappy still. she's changing the dpi then, makes many apps unstable or even unusable because touch-buttons get too small and text is unreadable
- im already on the latest AOSP compiled AOKP rom, she's still sitting on her hacked leak waiting for samsung to release the drivers
- hardware buttons suck
- s2 ain't faster, battery drain is the same
s2 has a slot for micro-sd, which is great. we bought 32GB for almost nothing, she's got her entire music collection on it. i can maybe have a handful of albums and thats that. apps, data and nandroid backups fill my internal sd pretty quickly.
If I could do it again, I'd go for the S2. Considering it will get ICS this month, the extra hardware benefits it offers is something the GN will never have... Like the incredible camera and noise-cancellation.
The screen is an overrated feature, in my opinion. The S2 screen looks great.
I would never go back to a phone with low resolution after using Sensation and now GNex. Go for the Nexus or wait for SGS3.

Galaxy Nexus or Galaxy S 3 ?

Hello everybody !
I'm so tired of my I9003 that i've decided to change it for a way better smartphone, but the choice is not very simple...
The Galaxy Nexus has a long term support from Google, but on the other hand the S3 has a quad-core processor, but i'm not sure that it's really useful with the apps currently available, so my question is : which one is the best for someone who plays games on his phone and sometimes watches movies ?
The S3 is really expensive and the Galaxy Nexus can be found at 300€ so as long as I'm not rich... I'd prefer to go for the Nexus.
Please help me make this choice, you know these devices better than I do.
Thank you
It depends.
If you and to live on the bleeding edge, and many updates, then go for the Gnex
If you need more power, but don't want fast updates, then go for the SGSIII
But its kinda dumb to create a "wich phone should I buy" thread in here, because most of the people here are biased towards the galaxy nexus. (Same with the SGSIII section)
Dude....... Google is your friend. There are a dozen threads exactly like this. I'd say go for the nexus, as will most everyone here as it is the NEXUS forum. Go ask the same question on the gs3 forum and they will tell you to go with that...... SMH

Nexus.
You get long-term support for all of your ROM/hacking/techie fun. It's still an unbelievable phone. And it's not as expensive.
if you care about specs, then go for galaxy s3 or htc one x ( both have some pros and cons)
if you just need a phone to customize and have fun with roms etc then go for galaxy nexus.
simple,
now hit the thanks button.
As we have seen there's no new Nexus device, only a new Nexus 7 tablet what means that the Galaxy nexus still is android's top device.
But when you go for specs, you should choose the s3.
As i can say, i am currently running Android 4.1 on my Galaxy nexus and it's awesomly smooth. Beautiful transitions and animations on a beautiful screen. I love my Galaxy Nexus.
Id go for a galaxy nexus if you are planning to keep your phone for a long time
I had a s1 and a s2 when the s2 came out most of the best developers switched from the s1 to the s2 and now the same is happening to the sgs2 i have the both the galaxy nexus and the s2 and the only thing keeping me from selling my s2 is because of the fm radio that the galaxy nexus dont have
If you are poor like me go for a galaxy nexus

3 days ago, the Galaxy Nexus was the first and the only device to receive the latest version of android : Jelly Bean.
This version adds so much smoothness and improvements to ICS that some people are giving up on buying the S3 coming from the Nexus.
Assuming S2<S3, you just got a logical explaination to as why you should get the Galaxy Nexus ( GSM if you can ).
Not an other on, gotta get a post in before the mods come

Here are the strengths of both phones over each other,
S2 over nexus
- Better camera
- Better GPU performance which doesnt mean much in day to day usage but for sure matters in 3D gaming as you get higher FPS
- More compact
- SD card slot
- Better speaker
- Better accessory market
Nexus over S2
- Bigger and better screen
- Much better future software support
- Looks way better in my opinion
- LED notification
- Better audio quality from headphones
The fact that the nexus S is getting jelly bean is huge, just goes to show how freaking long the galaxy nexus is going to be supported. That alone to me is far bigger advantage than all the other advantages the S2 has.
I'll say the biggest con of the galaxy nexus is the really weak speaker and only 16GB memory for the GSM version.
The biggest con of S2 is the low resolution screen and poor future software support.
If you have to think about it just get the S2. To even second guess the nexus is an insult to us. Its an amazing phone.

I picked the Nexus over the S3 and One X, so I would definitely pick it over the S2.
After using stock android, Jelly Bean in particular, everything else is really awful to me. Touch wiz is so bad. The Touchwiz apps are not very nice looking compared to stock ics/JB. I would get the Nexus for sure. I even highly value camera Quality and I decided that having better software is more important than camera.
Today I bought galaxy nexus and sold my Galaxy S II... I love Galaxy nexus bcoz of wide screen, better UI and direct support from Google beating apple.. hehehe I love you nexus ... I lost interest in SII bcoz SII Sucks with no more support from jelly bean very soon... even updating 4.0.4 version might get long month.

Project butter in jelly bean got me so excited that I've decided to try to sell my 4s and get a gnexus Used to be on android but left cus of how smooth ios seemed to me. Hope I get a trade soon
i have used the s2 and in all honesty the nexus beats it hands down.. right now i am considering getting either a nexus or a s3...and the odds are in the favor of nexus lol

+1. Had an s2 for a few months. Sold it to buy a gnex. Don't regret it in the least.
There's no need to think such thing, SGS2 is not even close to GN. The screen resolution itself is hideous.

Galaxy Nexus or S2

So? The resolution of Gnexus (1280x720) is "adapted" to Android?
Also, the XDA community of Gnexus is low? And, the performance in general, or with big game like Asphalt 7, NOVA 3, Mass Effect, is good and fluid?
Gnex ftw. And the butter and jelly.
butter and jelly please...
Nexus imho. I have a few friends with the S2 in various models... they all comment on how slick the nexus is.
If you're into rooting and installing custom ROMs = any of the two, altough I prefer the Nexus.
If not rooting and installing custom ROMs = the Nexus.
Why? You don't have to deal with (quite frankly) the ugliest damn UI in the android world (with Motoblur and MIUI sharing the second place). Nexus devices are pure Google (altough most Galaxy Nexuses are plagued with Samsung specific firmware version) (yakjuxw, yakjukr, yakjuux, so on so forth)
Plus the Galaxy Nexus has a larger and more beautiful screen, bigger resolution, looks better, software touch buttons (the navbar). So what if the Samsung S2 has a better GPU? I bet it wouldn't perform all too well either with 720p resolution..
Now that we have jb there's no reason to buy the gs2 anymore...especially the T-Mobile one. Dev support is almost at 0.
Didn't I just close this same thread in Galaxy S II?
