WM6 Internet Sharing Port Forwarding

hello everybody,
i´ve checked the wikis and searched through the whole forum but did not find anything related to that. my question is:
my notebook is connected via the internet connection sharing - everything is working fine - but i can´t use some services because i need to forward the ident port (113) among a few others for that.
so, any idea how i can do that? (if possible at all).
any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think port forwarding might be a bit hard.
First thing you need to check is what IP your Tytn gets from your ISP. If its in the private IP range
10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255
then its not going to happen. Your ISP(ie your telco) is NATing you further up the chain and they are the ones who needs to forward the ports for you.

It doesn't really matter what IP he gets from his ISP - the phone is already NAT'ing the connection. Unfortunately I don't think it's possible to forward ports with the phone.

Ofcourse it does. If his phone is getting a public ip there im sure there is a way to forward the ports.
But if his ISP is doing the NATing then there is no way.

I need port forwarding for utorrent client...
When it was WM5, there was a Modem program, so we can easy create and ue dial-up connection on PC! and PC gets real IP from cellular provider...But now WM6 works as Router and PC gets fake IP from mobile device(mobile gets real ip from cell provider)
And we can't do anything

Dmitry: Just because I'm curious: what network you are using and what is the ip subnet you are provided by the operator? So never seen in even one operator, that would provide me with external IP.

Server Running over Cellular on Rhodium?

Hello everyone,
I am looking into the idea of being able to run an SSH or VNC server on the Windows Mobile, specifically our Rhodium, platform over cellular (3G). I know for a fact Tmobile can assign a 'route-able' IP address to a phone here in the USA (this has been tested). I can ping this IP address from any computer on the internet (albeit with some substantial latency). Perhaps there is a way to use the Tmobile allowed "pinging your device" to tunnel SSH or VNC traffic.
I would like to figure out a way to reach an SSH or VNC server on my phone using this method. We would need to somehow "open" an inbound port to the phone (this would function like basic port forwarding).
All of this works perfectly over WiFi, of course, but the goal is to get this working over cellular 3G (in particular, Tmobile). I see this as a technical challenge we can overcome as a group.
Does anyone have any ideas on this?

it isnt possible they close all ports except if you use port 80 on your phone for the server then you can run vnc server mobile

So you're saying I can run a vnc server on port 80 on Tmobile? I have tried to run a web server on port 80 with no success.
Which mobile VNC server allows you to set the listening port?

its a program that is in alpha mode.
you can get your ip adress from your mobile phone trough php it is sending the real ip and not the fake.
But you must be aware that ip changes every time you get tro a difrent tower (gsm tower).
create a php page on a webserver with this code

Thanks for your reply, but I have additional questions.
I am able to get my real IP address from the phone by using VxUtil. This application tells me my IP address. Remember, I am able to have Tmobile assign me a 'route-able' IP address.
What is this program you speak of, which is in "alpha mode"?
The PHP code you provided, as I understand it, will simply give me my IP address, which VxUtil is able to do.
Were you able to somehow successfully access your device using the cellular connection? Which VNC software did you use, or did you use a different protocol?
It's interesting to note that when I check connectivity to my phone by doing "telnet IP_ADDRESS_HERE 80" I do not get a failure, the screen does hang as expected (Telnet can be used to see if ports are open without having a Telnet service running on my phone).
Can anyone please provide input?

I really need this.. and have no idea what to do. unfortunately, i can't forward a port for a broadcast address in my LinkSys WRT160N.

Try to setup your router without the broadcast, sometimes it works... For example, if your PC's IP is 192.168.0.10 and your extern LinkSys's IP is 80.32.3.4, try to set up your router like this :
UDP forwarding:
in port: 12345 for example (you can use any number below 65535)
out IP: 192.168.0.10
out port: 9 (or 7 depands of your hardware)
Then in my app, the host IP will be 80.32.3.4 and the port 12345...
I hope it will be OK...

which app works best?? because there is 2 of these circling around these forums.. and i'm going to use the best one... which is more user friendly? and has the least amount of router input work?? either that... or will the op be so kind and kinda hold my hand and walk me through it via PM?? i will gladly sport your appication

The other application can save the configuration of multiple computers while mine only records one...
Also, mine is not based on dotNET so is slightly faster...

You could also try to use a smaller subnet/range. My router won't allow to forward a port to 192.168.0.255, but I changed the subnet mask to 255.255.255.224 and so the range is from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.30 with 192.168.0.31 being the broadcast address for that range and which I can forward the needed port to.
You can use a subnet calculator if you need more or different IP addresses (do a search for subnet masks on google)

Least router input work ?? You have to setup your router/computer the same, the program just takes the public IP address, MAC address and port and sends a packet which is the same for both.
I would say WOL everywhere is more complete but this app here is more straightforward if you need it for only one computer...

I cant get it to work over GPRS/3G, only on Wifi!
Is that how it should work or do i have wrong settings somewhere, cant find any settings!

It should work with 3G... It's probably a router problem !
When using 3g, the IP you set in my app must be a public IP (not 192.168.X.X) and if you have a router, you should tell him to route the packet to your local IP...
If you don't understand (English is not my native language), tell me more about your problem.

It is not a router problem, my HD2 cannot even connect to internet in the program, and by an app in android it works perfectly so it is not in my router or computer... Can it by some issue with my rom?

I have a friend which have an HD2, I will try with his device and post here tomorow... Maybe another application prevents the connection...

I've tested my app on the HD2, and no problems...
My app should show your IP when connection is found. Try to:
-unconnect from 3G and launch wakeonwan. My app will normally trying to connect using 3G. Is this step OK?

No, neither works! It only say "Cant connect to internet"! It´s only on Wifi it connects... :-S

An other question: is the app searching for a connection or the message is directly printed?

[Q] Splashtop Remote...need help with Port forwarding for App to work

Ok, so I downloaded Splashtop Remote from the market. Got it on sale for $0.99. Its an awesome app that lets you remote access your computer from your phone like phonemypc, logmein, and others. With splashtop, however, videos played from your computer stream to your phone smoothly and the audio is routed to the phone as well.
Installed it on phone and computer and it works great...when I'm connected via wifi with my phone to my computers local network. As long as they are both connected to the wifi router it works, otherwise its a no go. I've done research and found that I have to use port forwarding to route the incoming traffic using the port for the Splashtop remote from the router's ip to the computers ip (or maybe vice versa). There are plenty of tutorials on how to do this for this app with a Linksys router, however unfortunately I have a Windstream internet router (the modem and router are both in the same unit). So I found a walkthrough HERE using the third post, and I found out how to do a port forward for my router (2 Wire) HERE, but it still will not connect on the app.
The big difference I found between setting up port forwarding with my router is I don't manually enter any IP addresses, I assume that is because it already knows which ones to use, but I'm not sure. Anyone able to help me with this? I would greatly appreciate it. Below are some screens of the settings I used for my router for the forwarding.
Btw, my IP is 192.168.254.109, and my router IP is 192.168.254.254.

Ha! Ok, I figured it out. When I set up the port forwarding, it assigned my computer a public IP address (the IP provided [192.168.254.109] was the private IP), which is shown in the second screenshot of my first post. That public IP is what I had to use as the IP when configuring my PC on the app on my phone. Mods, please close this thread.

I have the same issue. I used the port checker tool and it said I was good I'm still unable to connect. I'll have to try your fix when I get home.

[Q] 3G/4G + Wifi At The Same Time

I know how to do this in Windows and Linux, but not really sure how to go about it on Android...4.0.4 to be exact.
What I'm trying to accomplish is to have both active, with the 3G/4G handling internet-based activities and the Wifi handling local network access.
Why? Basically my home internet is horrible however I have some services/shares on my LAN that I want to access on my phone. And I can't switch between them, not an option. Because many times I'm wanting to take a picture from my file server (Accessed over Wifi) and then upload it to Flickr (Accessed over 3G/4G).
In Windows it's setting the gateway metric, and I would set the connection with the internet with the lower metric while the LAN-only connection gets a higher one.

I'm not aware of any way to do this on any Android - I would imagine it requires a heavily modded ROM.
You could of course tether a Windows or Linux computer on your network to the Android and implement gateway metrics from that end, in order to copy photos from the LAN server to the Internet via cellular.

Ask Cyanogen, if he could do such a thing, afterall, he has been hacking/modding Android since it's inital release. If anyone can help you, it's him... Sorry dude.

While I've never tried it, you might want to try setting up a DHCP reservation on your LAN that DOES NOT provide a gateway. This should allow Internet access using your egress connection while still allowing local LAN access-at least this is how it works for most computers that are multihomed.
