[Q] Can Google Play be installed on rooted KF with ICS? - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there! So I have a Kindle Fire that I just rooted with the method shown here; http://rootkindlefire.com/kindle-fire-root/how-to-root-kindle-fire-6-3-1/
It worked like a champ. I then went ahead and made a backup of my stock rom. After that I installed the ICS ROM on the Kindle using the TWRP recovery and this zip; http://rootkindlefire.com/kindle-fi...an-rom-for-kindle-fire-best-romandroid-4-1-2/
Anyway, everything is rad with it, but I am now unable to install the Google Play Store onto my Kindle. I tried to boot into recovery then install the ZIP for the Play Store (called "market-framework.zip") but it just says "error flashing zip". Anyone know what I can do to make this work? Or do I need to go back to stock, install Play Store, THEN flash the ICS ROM? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Flash in recovery

Thanks for the reply. My device isn't on the list in that link and i don't think the ROM I installed is from Cyanogen, but maybe I'm wrong. Also all that says it's for the GB OS and I'm on ICS. So will it still work?

[Q] major problems

SO I thought my phone wasn't working so I went from my wonderful miui to stock gingerbread via one click odin and now I can't install ANY roms or installs from recovery. I have no freaking clue what to do because every time I click install from drive or whatever it says, it works for a second then show the droid icon with the ! I currently don't have service but I still want to be able to use my phone for music, pics, and games! *me sad *
Did you install CWM using the Auto Root package, Option C? Depending on which one-click ODIN, you may or may not be rooted, but will have stock recovery.
Stock recovey won't install custom ROMs.
ok so I appear to be rooted but it is stock recovery. So can you point me to what I need to install to get a gingerbread with cwm recovery whether an all in one or a kernel or what have you so I can then install MIUI??
I would suggest you unroot back to stock, then re-root,qbking has some really good videos with all the links under the videos.
ok, but where do I find those? I tried looking in general and didn't see anything..... I'm out of it today
I just looked at some of his videos today

Google Framework

Hey guys did you install the GoogleFramework.apk from a phone or a 7" tablet? Wondering because I was thinking of trying installing the apk of a 7" tablet on the gf's Fire.

It would help if you gave more details of your setup. It sounds like you have a stock Kindle Fire (not rooted and no custom rom).
I will tell you what I did because I know that it will work for sure, but I cannot say with certainty that it was necessary...
I matched GoogleFramework with my Android OS. When my Kindle Fire was still stock, I got GoogleFramework from an older GingerBread GApps .zip, because the stock ROM is based on GB. It worked fine. I simply unzipped the GB Gapps and grabbed GoogleFramework.
If you have a custom rom installed already, just flash the appropriate Gapps directly -- GoogleFramework will automatically be installed.
My apologies it's currently rooted and running a GB framework. I should've asked first if there's a difference if the framework apk came from a tablet or a phone. I wanted to install some tablet apps but it says that it's either incompatible or it doesn't run correctly on the Fire. So, I was wondering if installing a different framework would matter, or is it dependent on the ROM?

[Q] Installing jellybean, on already rooted kindle causing issues, HELP!!

Hey guys, I have recently rooted my kindle fire (running 6.3.1) and added, GO ex pro but later on I decided I want full android jellybean, so I downloaded all the necessary files for 4.2, got rid of GO ex pro, and everything went fine until idiotically I had only installed the the jellybean ROM and completely forgot to also add the Google play store, so before I had noticed Google play was nowhere to be found in TWRP I tried flashing jellybean but it wouldn't even open the screen that allows me to flash it, by then I had realized Google play was missing so I plugged it back into the computer to download it but now it is reading my kindle as a android ADB interface and wont let me copy the files to it, thus making it impossible to add Google play, I have done everything I could possibly think of, and had not found anyone with the same problem anywhere, so I am in dire need of help, Right now it flawlessly runs the kindle stock OS but that's it, I want it to run 4.2 instead, but if I cant put the Google play store on that's out of the question, PLEASE HELP! Thank you in advance.
So you're on rooted stock, right?

Do you still have access to TWRP?

Yes I have access to TWRP, and I am running stock kindle fire OS, no custom ROMS, just have the permanent root with super user.
And of course, TWRP.
In TWRP, mount your sdcard as a USB device and transfer GApps and whatever ROM you want, wipe system and factory reset, then flash your ROM and GApps.

[Q] Noob help with roms?

hi there
before you tell me its in the wrong section i can't post in the development section yet, i'm a new member.
so basically, heres how it is: i have an xperia play r800i(unlocked UK version) which in october i flashed free xperia kernel onto and cyanogenmod 9.1. i have now decided that i want xdark 4.0.3 on it because the wifi stopped working on cyanogenmod and it has no support for touchpads. however, i dont know if it is as simple as just going into CWM and flashing the .zip from there.
can i do that? or do i need to flash something like doomkernel? and can i flash that the same way i flashed FXP?
i am quite a noob when it comes to this, so any help is appreciated.
it is rooted and the bootloader was unlocked the official way.
thanks
Back up everything with Titanium or something similar. Then place the XDark zip file onto the root of the SD card.
Then, with Flashtool:
1) Flash R800i_4.0.2.A.0.62_phoenixvendor.ftf found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2184897
2) Flash LuPus ICS: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804003
Once that's done, boot the phone and enter recovery (pressing back when LuPuS flash screen appears and phone vibrates), clear the cache and dalvik cache partitions, then install the XDark ROM. When that's all done, reboot and all should be done.
XDark seems to be suspended for now though, might be better to go for something that's still currently being supported?
thank you for your swift response, i will be doing that later.
Do both a titanium back up and a nandroid just to be safe also do the normal whipes

sm-n9002

Hi, I rooted my SM-N9002 using the cfroot file in a recent post.
How do I go about adding Google Apps to my device? Realized after buying the phone that it didn't have any Google services. I booted into the stock recovery and tried to install the Google Apps zip file which I used for Cyanogenmod on my Note2 but that didn't work. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Same problem here, No market and no App store
Strange how samsung launch this model without it?
Has anyone been successful in flashing GApps on KitKat Note 3 Duos? Mine came with PS (probably the Russian SVA ROM), but I flashed the Chinese KitKat right away and can't get Play Store in any way now.
Get Open GApps Pico (no other will fit in size!) and flash it via recovery.
