So since everyone in the gnex forum ignored my question, does anyone know if the Gnex running 4.1.1 can use a local calendar file?
Trying to help my sister out remotely with hers, all of her events for the past year have disappeared. New events she has created are syncing with her gmail account. She only has one account and nothing is online from before. I can't figure out where the hell she created them when she got the phone. And she doesn't have an Exchange account either.

The only way she would've created it locally is if she didn't have an account I think..

Right, I did a search and although loads of people don't seem to like the Gmail app very much I couldn't find the same issue. On the whole the Gmail app is fine for me, but I've just noticed a problem.
I have two Gmail accounts set up. I was checking in one of them for an email I got last week as it had details of a meeting for tomorrow. So I was looking through and couldn't find it. I thought I might have deleted it by mistake, but I logged on to my emails on my computer and found it was there with all the others. There were a couple of emails on the 4th and 5th that never arrived on my phone.
I tried refreshing the inbox on my phone and no good. I thought maybe the phone was playing up those days but I checked my other Gmail account and I had emails on those days synced and good to go. I'm stumped.
Any ideas why this happened? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.
I'm syncing all my contacts from my Exchange account, and have birthdays as part of the contact info for some contacts. Now I found that on my Desire Z (unbranded, never rooted, original ROM), all the birthdays appear the day after the actual birthday of said person. Not cool to miss a friend's birthday by one day
I made sure that time zone settings, date format, etc. are the exact same on the phone and the server, but that didn't help. I completely removed the exchange account after messing with the settings, to make sure to give it a chance to update correctly. No luck.
This was not a problem on my HTC Legend which was syncing with the same Exchange account.
Of course I tried searching the forum, but didn't find any issues similar to this. I'm sorry if I just missed it.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Any ideas as to how to resolve it?
Just to note you are not alone.
But in my case the birthday is one day to early and has a time added (22:00:00.000Z).
Also didn't find a solution so far. Didn't have this problem with original HTC ROM. So you should also mention which ROM you are running. Have this problem with CM 7.0.3 and also observed it in Enhanced Email which are both based on original source.
HTC may have fixed this already.
Same problem
I have the same problem on my Sony Ericsson Experia Pro. Birthdays are one day earlier than on Exchange Server. Did someone find the solution?
Which TimeZone are you in?
Cause I know if you use NZST (GMT +12) it has that same error.
I have contacted HTC about this bug previously, and they reckon they are working on it.
their recommended fix was using another GMT+12 timezone.

I had this same problem. My solution was to use Google Calendar and to use Google's Calendar Sync to sync to my Outlook, rather than my phone syncing directly to the PC.

Hi,
I just picked up this phone & am trying to get exchange working. It works fine on my OG Evo (and the 3d which I just returned) but not this phone.
Any ideas? I know I can probably use touchdown but I would prefer the native app for contacts, calendar.
Thanks,
Rich
MS Exchange
My wife got the E4GT on release date and had a problem with Exchange, also. She and the guy at Sprint tried for about 15 minutes to no avail. Finally, last night she started button-smashing and got it to work. Last night when she set up her Exchange account (school e-mail that uses Outlook Web Access) on her phone, she had to choose "Manual" then chose "Exchange", and it worked perfectly. She did have a problem with contacts from Outlook being listed several times and had to go through a whole 'nother ordeal to get them to merge with her Google contacts.
Hope this helps you!
Im all set too. My issue was my exchange server supports up to 10 mobile devices & I guess each time I setup a new rom, the server thought it was a new device. Anyway, I deleted some old devices & I am back in business.
Is there an app or a way to sync calendars between two phones? Me and my GF would like to sync appointments between both phones automatically instead of having to text each other then add the appointment. It would be very convenient to have something like that.
My wife just has my google account on her phone. We share apps I buy and calendar entries are synced between the two. She just has it set to not sync my email.

I didn't know you could do that, but I don't want her having access to my accounts like that.
So then make a new Google account that you only use between you and her and have it only sync the calendar. That's the beauty of being able to have multiple Google accounts on the same device. Just make sure if you ever wipe/restore, that you don't enter that account back in first or else it becomes your primary account on the phone and makes it impossible (AFAIK) to remove the account from the phone without restoring again.

I can see your issue. Being married we simply don't have anything to keep away from each other. However if I were just dating I wouldn't do it.

Hi,
I have been searching around and can't find the answer I'm looking for.
Can someone advise if they have managed to sync their hotmail.co.uk to their HOX (or any other Android device) specifically using the MS Hotmail mail option (which defaults to server m.hotmail.com) or via the exchange option??
Hotmail.com addresses sync ok, just can't get my UK address to work. Just to add the hotmail.co.uk mail account is succesfully added however no mails are synced. Looking at the account under sync options the sync icon is red and at the bottom there is an error which highlights something like 'experiencing difficulties at this time - please try again later'. This error appears to be constant.
I know syncing hotmail.co.uk addresses is possible via the 'other' mail account option (which defaults to POP3 settings) and also alternatively by using the MS Hotmail app but would prefer the above - just would like to know if it's possible or not.
Thanks in advance,
GW
It just start happening yesterday so its not anything to worry about yet, I have the same problem.

UPDATE - I've just stumbled across something on Microsoft Answers where one user suggests to configure the account manuallly which you can only do through the exchange option (when you select the MS Hotmail option, various fields including the server name are greyed out).
Advises to use prefixes snt-m, dub-m, bay-m or debug-m in front of .hotmail.com in the server however unfortunately none of these work for me.

Not the case for me, I've been trying to do this for over a week now.
Did this use to work then but now it doesn't?

There are on-going problems it seems, mine periodically stopped sycning several weeks ago, would be okay for a bit, then eventually never sync'd at all. Microsoft don't seem to be bothered helping people fix this.
I then started using debug-m.hotmail.com and that got it working, then seeing the same advice others have mentioned I used the letter prefix I see when I log into Hotmail on a PC browser, and it has been working since.
There also seems to be another issue related to individual accounts that can only be fixed by Microsoft, so I'm thinking there are two issues.
Try logging into Hotmail on a PC and going into your calendar, a few weeks ago I was offered to upgrade to a new calendar, I think this has the effect of moving your account to a new server, which might help kick start everything again.
All in all though it is a mess from Microsoft.

Phil

Hi Phil,
Thanks for the reply.
Can you just confirm that you actually got it working (previously) with a hotmail UK address with debug-m.hotmail.com as the server? If so I assume you setup a manual MS exchange account under the mail account options to do this?
Just loaded up MSN calendar on desktop but there was no option to upgrade or anything :-s.
I've raised a question on MS answers site, hoping someone from MS will look at it and check out my account to see if they can do anything. Other than that I guess it's just a waiting game or switch to POP3!

Anyone experiencing issues with hotmail UK email addresses?
Hotmail.co.uk addresses still not working with the m.hotmail.com server - anybody got this working or has an alternative solution, except using POP3 or forwarding?
