Battery? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im running jelly time r24 and I used the battery calibrator app from play. Its supposed to delete your battery stats. And now my battery is dying quick as hell. Should I go thru a few charging cycles or did I mess it up already?:banghead:

Just make a (few?) manual cycle charge. Charge it full, delete battery stat, drain out your battery till 0% and charge it till 0mAh or while off overnight,

Cool ill give it a try. Thanks.

Also after to do the cycle you may want to run a batter monitor. I am using GSam Battery Monitor, others in the dev thread recommend BetterBatteryStats. You may have an app that is draining your battery and these will help pinpoint it. I had terrible battery drain recently on several of the JT releases, turns out it was BeWeather (which I have since uninstalled) holding wakelock. Since I have removed it battery is running very good.

Battery problem

I'hv flashed cm7 last week. The problem is that my defy battery drains too fast as compared to stock Froyo. I have calibrated its battery correctly. Also phone always remains hot. I am looking for solution but didn't get proper solution. Plz help..
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
I've noticed the same, since flashing CM 7.1 my battery will barely last the day, I don't think it's going into deep sleep.
I'm having the same problem
When I flashed CM7 the second time recalibrated and deleted battery stat battery life improved...now i get about 35-40 hrs on one charge.
But of course there are many factors that contribute to battery life and our devices won't be the same.
Not proper solution yet..

I had problems too but after the Calibration the battery works just fine.. try Calibration again
Thanks to all..will post after getting my problem solved.trying cm7 stable..

I tried cm7 stable..here battery is draining more quickly..is there any ROM for better battery performance..?

can you give us some numbers and specifics about your usage ? its not possible to give any view point or explanation till we know whether you are running on 2g or 3g wifi on/off etc etc .
that your phone remains hot can be caused by two things (in my experience): your cpu is always on 100%, or your gps is on. First of all, try wiping battery stats from recovery when fully charged, than let it discharge. secondly, try using setvsel to control the frequencies. if your battery still drains fast, check whether its water damage indicator is red (the - originally - white sticker near the battery pins), cuz mine is red, which means it was contacted by water, which couldve caused a short, and till then my battery drains much faster.
You can use cpu spy from market to see what is your cpu doing and the times for each state. Check if it's going to deep sleep.
I always keep my GPS, wifi off.
CPU is undervolted at minimum values as 300-16,600-26,1000-46.
I've already calibrated battery.
My battery statistics are: (approx.)
Display- 40%
Android system- 10%
Phone idle -15%
Cell standby- 10%
Android OS -5%
Remaining- other apps
Display is taking 40% while I always keep it at minimum brightness.

I finally got solution.. My defy's battery performance improved a lot. I have installed wakjiui ROM and calibrated the battery and it was unbelievable. Using it since last week. Almost doubled battery performance. At night it drains by only 2%. And one more thing about wakj ROM is it is perfect combination of miui and some apps from cm7. .

i got 48 hours.. sometimes more using MIUI .. highly recommend you to use it!
It is based on miui.

[Q] Terrible battery life on Zedomax.v3

Just updated to the Zedomax v3 kernel and its been great but last night i unplugged my phone at 99% and 5-6 hours later it was at 49% and I also was using power saver under clocked at 800mhz the whole night.
Why is battery life so bad? should i find a new kernel or delete power saver and cpu master?
Also my battery usage says "Android system" is using 35% and display 22%
Usually is higher than everything...?
Epic 4g touch/sprint
I just flashed Lostkernel over Zedo's. Believe me, its better!

It takes far more than a couple hours for a device to settle into a new kernel.

You need to recalibrate your battery after installing a new ROM. There are apps on the market for this.

If you want to find out what is causing your issue.. download CPU spy and watch dog. Run them on s full battery cycle and check.
CPU spy tells you if your processor is staying in sleep mode and wd tells you what apps/processes are polling CPU for usage

I agree Zedo's V3 is outdated and there's better / more current kernels available.
Got boost?

Suggestions on a better / more current kernal?
Have almost the same scenario as OP... was at around 75% at bedtime (with Juice Defender running, and phone in Airplane mode). I usually lose maybe a few points of battery life, but I went from ~75% to 18%. Ouch. Can't go more than 1/2 a day without having to recharge. Ouch. P
lus, phone won't stay shut down. If I power off/shut down, it reboots itself and comes back on after a few minutes. Ouch.
Thanks in advance.

battery life question

I am using one of those ANKER 1700 MAH batteries.. I am also running LINOFISH 1.6 sotkc voltage and MIKG ROM 3.11. I just switched to INTELLIDEMAND GOVERNOR. I am wondering if anyone uses that and if being at 78% battery after 8 hours is good?? not too much use of the phone...
Is there a better governor to use to get better battery life but no lag? intellidemand seems to have a small lag opening apps..
Thanks..
I'd use underworld with SBC. It will help u get the most out of an extended battery. Been thinkin about getting one these myself.
Those batteries r great. I'm using one as well. Id recommend smartass gov and the underworld SBC kernel

I'm using a 2000mah batter picked up on Amazon. Pretty good and it lasts about 4 hours on constant use, including putting my phone to sleeping and waking it up a lot.
Any suggestions on which governor to use? Using Tiamat 4.1 SBC (not even sure if a new one is out). Running cm7.2 also.

4 hours???? not a good battery... I have a couple of 2000MAH batteries and they stink.. the ANKER 1700MAH with LIONFISH KERNEL and INTERACTIVE X last me close to 20 hours and I still have more then 20% battery left...
I havent run mikg in a while...but I am currently on Jamieg71 KWIQ rom with mason G .15 sbc kernel running stock frequencies wheatley governor and my battery lasts at least 16 hrs (with about 30-40% remaining) phone is very responsive too. my normal usage is GPS+track my run (30 minutes most days), pocket casts driving to work, few games of DRISK, many texts, emails and calls.
Edit:..stock battery

[Q] [CM7] How can I figure out why my battery is draining?

I got pretty crap battery life yesterday (see attachments). I plugged in my phone in the afternoon so it was fully charged when I left work in the evening, and then I only used the phone a little bit before I went to bed.
From 6 pm to 11 pm (when I went to bed) it drained from 100% to about 55%. Didn't plug it in overnight. When I got up this morning, it was at 17%. Wifi was on, airplane mode was not on, but I didn't use the phone at all and it probably should have just gone to sleep, right?
Anyway, this was only my second day of using CM7 instead of CM9. I had been on CM9 for a week or so before I decided to go back to CM7 for the battery life. It's weird, I've searched for and read several of the battery life posts here in the Q&A section and everyone seems to recommend CM7 for battery life, but in my case it didn't work out so well. There must be something going on - how can I figure this out?
I'm getting great life from cm7! You may want to wipe all caches, and battery stats, and reflash the Rom on top. Then apply v6 supercharger, kak tweaks..
Further more download better battery stats, Google search it, and see what apps have high partial wake times

v6 supercharger, tweaks, etc... isnt required at all.
He needs to show us all his battery stats from Better Battery Stats, and his CPU freq Table from Voltage Control and the I/0 Scheduler and Cpu Governor and What kernel is he using
My kernel is listed as 2.6.35.7 which I believe is an AOSP kernel
I don't own Better Battery Stats
Just installed Voltage Control... Min 100 MHz, max 1000 MHz, I/O scheduler is sio, CPU governor is ondemand, and this is after running the V6 and KAK scripts. I'm going to see how my battery holds up today.
Try with better battery stats app

you can also use cpu spy to find out if your phone is actually going into deep sleep or if it's running @ something higher.

BBS is free and is on XDA, Try conservative for your CPU governor that'll help and if you use CPU Spy as mention below me that'll show the amount of time each freq. is on
Ah, thanks for pointing that out!
I'm going to take some time to figure out how to interpret all this. CPU Spy seems pretty straightforward though. It is reporting that the CPU has gone into deep sleep most of the time it's been unplugged, so that can't be the problem. I did go into Voltage Control and change the CPU governor from ondemand to conservative; hopefully that helps.
For Better Battery Stats I'm going through the official thread and just trying to compare my results against what people are saying there. So far the biggest potential culprit is GTALK_ASYNC_CONN, which has the largest duration of partial wakelocks at 2m22s. Behind that is Wimax (obviously having that on is gonna drain my battery; I don't normally use it but today I have been) and then *network-location* with 1m14s. I'm not sure I really need to post a full dump although if anyone really wants to look it over I could.
Anyway thanks for all the help guys.

In BBB look at since unplugged and kernel wakelocks do you have a "mmc_delayed_work" mine is high that affects battery life too
Slightly different situation now. A couple days ago I switched to an ICS rom, this time AOKP. Things seemed to be fine but this afternoon my battery absolutely tanked while I wasn't using the phone - the standard battery interface showed that the phone did not sleep during that time even though it was in my pocket, and Better Battery Stats showed a huge amount (over 3 hours) of kernel wakelocks from "sec_jack." Know what could be causing that?
EDIT: I should add, using the standard battery screen, it has simply lumped in whatever is now draining my battery into "Android System." It showed a keep-awake time of around 20 minutes when the total time unplugged was 25 minutes. I tweaked a few things, turned off AOKP's weather service and made sure Facebook wasn't pulling background data, and restarted my phone. I'll have to see how it goes.
Solved! I turned off the weather service built into AOKP last night. This morning, the sec_jack wakelocks were gone and my battery had only gone down by a couple % overnight.
