Whenever i take a video or capture a picture, everything looks nice in fine, especially black colors in low light conditions. But when i head over to the gallery to view it, all the black colors become this pixely, gross combination of black and purple. Why is this? It seems to be capturing fine but the displaying of it is not.

Hey there,
some years after I sold my G1 I'm up with another Android phone, Desire HD.
Great phone, bad battery as usual...
But I really wonder why they put such yellowish LEDs to the phone. It's ok that the phone is equipped with LEDs but every picture I take with LEDs turned on looks yellowish. The pictures don't look like it would be "real" light, it looks worse than white light.
When you switch on the lights you can already see that it's yellowish.
Perhaps someone has an explanation...
Change the white balance settings, that sometimes helps.
Or you can correct it in an image editor like PicSay Pro (phone app) or Photoshop.
I also notice that (in the preview/viewfinder screen) it makes it look yellow.
But when taken the picture the preview on my stock-rom but updated phone is a normal color and not yellowish at all.
Check out hamdir's photography guide/tips. Scroll down to the flash section. A solution there works. Thread location:
Desire HD general-
Thank you! I set white balance to fluorescent (Neonlicht in German) and now the pictures made with LED flash look better.
Set wallpaper to black or go to a pure black screen with no icons on it. Bring up the "recent apps" and clear it out so that the overlay is blank. I notice heavy banding when the app is brought up over a pure black screen. Anyone else notice this?
it's hard to notice in a lighted room. go into a very dark room and you should see what I am talking about.
I've noticed this on transparencies. Could be a low quality image they used. Google has been known to limit the colors available to specific apps. Gallery and the Browser usually display crappy gradients. Perhaps this is another form of lowering the image quality so it loads faster.
As far as what your talking about, yes I can replicate it. Horizontal "sections" about equal distance apart. Hardly noticeable. I have to turn the lights off to really see it.
As long as the screen looks amazing when I'm using it and not in a dark room at weird brightnesses, I'm happy. This screen is super vibrant and bright. Who cares about a little banding on an almost black transparency that is requires a pitch black room to see.
1. So I wanted to report that I've encountered glitching YouTube videos, no matter the resolution. Unlike the "white flash" or "white screen" glitch, it appears it only happens during a scene transition. Most of the time, after a few seconds after starting the video, even audio glitches occur. But it's not like the audio gets distorted, it's more like it gets mixed up. So when YouTube Person says "A-B-C-D", the glitch makes it sound like "A-C-D-B". Of course in such a short time it's barely noticeable.
2. As seen in the attachement, on the live preview objects that come close to the edge of the viewfinder become washed out and blurry and sometimes even colours are distorted. It's doesn't look like a simple "out of focus" to me, but again, I'm not a professional, hence I'm asking you if this is how it's supposed to be.
3. Taken Images and the viewfinder appear to have a slightly shiftet aspect ratio. It's not a recurring "phenomenon" and I'm not even sure if it's just me. I notice this only when taking images on large sceneries with big depth.
EDIT; Ohh crap. Samsung and its stupid image rotating issue... Sorry guys, no matter how I rotate the image, it always ends up upside down.
EDIT: The YouTube issues are gone. Looks like it was a problem of the app itself. The latest update solved it.
On your attached picture, I see the little green box that indicates which part of the image will be in focus. Unfortunately, it seems you took a picture of a subject that is angled toward and away, so the portions on one edge of the screen will be further away than the portion corresponding to the focused green box, and the other edge of the screen will be closer.
So I'm unable to tell from your attached picture whether that's just being out of focus. Do you have another example picture showing the issue, but using a subject that is photographed evenly so that the edges are at the same distance as the center?
When I'm trying to record a concert, the faces on the artists are hard to see, I'm not sure if it's because of their skin color or what, but the problem arises when colored lights from the ceiling shine onto them. Otherwise, the video quality in areas where the light does not shine is fine, and the audio quality is fine.
Is there a way I can fix this, or maybe use a different camera app?
Over saturated*
My note 5, in ALL camera modes, does reddish photos. Only If i correct with PRO mode i can have decent photos. But isn't comfortable to change every time the settings for every light condition, or subject etcetera... this is an example of reddish photo.
Only with frontal camera. When I use flash, or I stay in a particular light condition, the reddish dissappear 90% or completely. Wtf? Help!!
Could be an effect that is active or HDR
Or maybe is yous screen colors
