Im standing in a delimma rught now. Im about to choose between galaxy nexus and iphone 4s.
I dont want to hear which phone is better i want to hear about the galaxy nexus, how it feels in your hand, smoothnes etc etc.

GSM? The phone feels great in the hand because it is light for how big it is. It is kind of slick and will take getting used to if you have never had a phone this big but it shouldn't be too much of a problem.. the screen is good for most people when above 20% brightness. Some people lag on the stock rom but most don't have any problems on custom roms or the latest stock rom. Also battery life for the most part is great.

Size wise I feel the Nexus is small, and no way too big at all. But I had the Epic 4G Touch with 4.5" screen, the Nexus feels smaller.
Build quality is very high, the metal band around it feels solid, and the dark gray color makes it look like a stealth fighter jet. Does not feel like cheap plastic on the Galaxy SII.
High Res screen is on par with "Retina" but with a million times better color.
ICS software is a huge leap forward for Android, makes it more mature and polished and better design over last year Androids.

I have been an iphone user for years and after spending some time using the Nexus I sold my iphone 4s to buy the Nexus. You will not be unhappy with either but the Nexus is hands down a more up to date and distinguished device for me.
Play with them both and see which appeals more to you. I was an iPhone user for 4 years until I got my Galaxy Nexus and I couldn't go back. That said, the 4S is still a very good phone and definitely has a place. It gets better battery life and has a nicer app selection, but the screen is small, you're much more limited in terms of modification/customization/app and service integration, and I feel like iOS is starting to show it's age.
I love the Nexus' huge screen, I think the design of the phone itself is nicer, and I like ICS way more than iOS.

Without a case, it's great in the hands. Even with a case it's fine depending on which one though.
But holding it raw is wonderful. The screen is absolutely amazing. Text is so crisp I almost sometimes prefer using it over my tablet! The keyboard is amazing in portrait, because of the size I can type REALLY fast and get almost no errors.
Everything is smooth too. My friend who has had an Evo 4g for a while was amazed at how smooth animations and everything else are compared to his phone.
I have unlimited 4g from Verizon and it is blazing too.

have used both. I keep changing my phones regularly. Generally every 3 months. I always have 2 phones regardless.
Now...
Sometimes as my Prof kept saying,
it all comes down to what you are used to the most.
If you are a busy man and just want to get things done and you are used to the iOS platform then go for the iPhone 4s, it really surprises me how consistent they have kept their platform from over 5 years.
But there is a price you pay. For ex when you compare the maps and email/Gmail apps; the iOS apps feel archaic.
Ics is a complete overhaul. There is a significant amount of learning curve. Not much if you are coming from iOS. But to be on the record, it is completely rewarding no matter what platform you come from (keep in mind it takes about a week)
One of the gripes that I have with iOS is that it is not Rewarding to the power user. The speed at which you do things the first time is pretty much as fast as yo can ever be.
Let me address a few issues with galaxy nexus
Size:
Mammoth like if you are coming from iOS
Little big if you are coming from the almost standard 4 inch androids.
But the feel in hand is really good. It is lighter than the iPhone 4s. After a week you wont notice the size but will really appreciate the 720p screen, the real estate that it gives you. I can't go back to the iPhone like screen size after using galaxy nexus, it is like what the first iPhone did to the typical smartphone users back then (who were mainly on windows mobile and palm/blackberry on their 2.4-2.8 inch devices)
Smoothness:
I'm on AOKP rom with Francisco Franco s Kernel and it is the smoothest Android experience.
IOS introduces a lot of delays to keep the os feeling smooth. Just try opening an app as soon as you hit the home button.
And it still lags everytime when you go to the spotlight search by swiping left on the homescreen.
Right now they have just 3 hardware platforms and then can test the heck out of it for delivering 60fps (also known as butter smooth performance) albeit making actual performance sacrifices (though I've heard from internal sources that it is becoming increasingly difficult to do so on 3gs)
The point I'm trying to make is that iOS has engineered smoothness at the cost of performance, you will have to decide for yourself if this is OK with you.
IOS vs ICS
I feel that ics and Android in general gives app developers a lot more freedom and versatility in app design (clearly demonstrated by the mlo app which is still in beta on Android but much better than the iOS app).
But app developers go by the penetration and clearly iOS has more than android (again demonstrated by the Mlo app which is still in beta on Android)
And as far as the stock apps are concerned there is no match for ics, just check the iPhone vs galaxy nexus sunspider and browesermark benchmarks on the browser which probably is the top most used app on the smartphone os (tip don't compare the iPad 2 with galaxy nexus as iPad 2 is clocked at 25% more than iPhone 4s, and there are quad core options available in android ics tablets (friend just got pics pushed to his transformer prime ))
And the Gmail app.(
ICS has a lot of potential If you are not porting over your apps from iOS , a lesson for you speed test.net)
Now to conclude I've not gone back to iPhone 4(couldn't stand iPhone 4s as it didn't have a jailbreak and hence my favourite jailbreak app swipenav which avoids the most inhumanly possible HCI design of tapping the left most corner to go back (which is probably the second most used function from going to home screen )

Im considering buying galaxy nexus due the screen, but i like the siri function in iphone and their smoothnes in the games due.
But overall the Gnex is above all much better then iphone.
But as i said erlier the gnex is much more expensive here in sweden :/

I'l give you an honest overview : the phone is SINCERELY NOT THERE to compete as a completely functional device to be honest.
And let me also tell you that I'm an Android fan boy, and I completely ABHOR apple and everything to do with them.
BUT YET. Samsung Galaxy Nexus is NOT EVEN a complete functional device yet, and paying 530 £ or so (in the UK) for such a phone - IS WASTE OF MONEY.
There are MANY glitches that makes the whole experience very unsavoury. To the point that it definitely DOES NOT LOOK LIKE A FINISHED phone to me at all.
All the gloss of ICS apart, I have seen stability issues with this phone that just totally kills every thing. And mind you this is only on 4.0.1 GSM version UK (I've others here who have the same issue)
I'm a pretty heavy user. I've had a HTC Desire and worked out the ins and outs of the system and that device was EXTREMELY usable over the years.
This phone has so many problems -
1. The LED light does not even support missed calls by default. If you had a missed call you would not know till you turn the screen on (It is a basic feature was available 2 years back on HTC desire) I dont want to install a complicated APP like Light Flow to do it. This is basic stuff that should come out of the box
2. The phone in landscape mode does not type properly, this is just hilarious. Shame on google. The typing works perfect when you keep your phone straight, but the same phone, same stuff if you type in landscape it is incredibly jittery, you dont see what you wrote for good couple of seconds! This is just SHODDY work. how can screen orientation screw up your typing so badly - i have no idea. Just shameful from google.
3. The SMS dont go many times, and I've seen many threads about the same. Apparently you can screw up the message center settings? I dont know how but I'vent done that still had SMS problems a few times. And I had to restart my phone or send multiple times to make it work.
4. The call quality is the WORST I have seen on ANY phone in my entire life. I've been using the phone in exactly the same locations as I was using my HTC desire, and the call drops so much more often that it is just unbelievable! and needless to say incredibly frustrating. If the call doesnt drop the sound, sometimes (& often), is really pathetic and many a times it is inaudible to either party on the call. Is this a phone?
5. The phone is crashing randomly, this happens every 2 days or so (lately every single day now) and I'm a pretty heavy user. People say it is because I'm still on 4.0.1 - well I dont buy that because if 4.0.3 (the latest version) was fixing so many stability issues, then there is NO reason for Google to delay the release of that version on here in the UK for such a long time. Then some people say it is because I've some app installed, well I uninstalled most of my apps - but this problem doesnt go. And the phone becoming unresponsive due to an APP sounds like a serious piece of cr*pware to me. My settings page becomes unresponsive!! How can that happen? It has NEVER happened on android 2.3.7 with my HTC desire. If an APP is buggy, your home and menu screen buttons work perfectly! your android system doesnt become unstable because a stupid APP is incompatible or buggy! but here the WHOLE PHONE BECOMES UNUSABLE!!
And there's more! The latest of the glitches, yesterday - after the usual while typing the phone crashed, and then on reboot - all widgets on my screen - were all scrambled. No widget was displaying any text but jumbled ASCII characters, when you move the widgets the text would show but not without. I rebooted and it has been okay since.
but how horrible is that to put in so much of your money to get a piece of sht phone that doesnt even work and does basic functions correctly?
6. The phone also starts lagging, and is jerky ... especially with live wallpaper. That was really frustrating to see if you bought the phone to be on the cutting edge of mobile technology!! Samsung galaxy s2 scores much higher even on CPU benchmark tests I downloaded. Galaxy nexus fails to score any more than 1700 on the tests while Galaxy S2 (almost the same hardware) notches up to 3200+ scores!!! and these are basic tests that check cpu performance and your animation rendering capabilities. You cant mess with that really.
Now this could really be because of the high resolution of the screen... which brings me to the only two GOOD points of this phone :
1. Really crisp resolution. It is really just a class apart from older generation phones. Your icons, text, everything looks extremely good!
2. ICS - as everyone already mentioned it is a huge step up in terms of usability, and looks great deal polished. The phone feels good to navigate through, and ICS brings in some other features that make it a good OS. Others can cover on that more.
But anyway, I find those two points as largely ineffective in my choice to buy a phone (but i have unfortunately bought it and got rid of my desire and have been regretting the decision......it has been about 21 days on the galaxy nexus now)
Honestly, STAY AWAY FROM GALAXY NEXUS. The device is not worth it, and ICS evolution (especially bug fixes) and the hardware upgrades later this year would make for a really good and a competitive phone that you can buy!

Why don't you sell it while it's still "fresh"..? You could easily get a desire for 200£, if not less actually!

No idea which galaxy nexus u are using man , but had mine for just about a month now running aokp with franco kernel , And no i didnt use the stock i rooted and slapped a rom on after 2 days if i wanted to use what they gave me i wouldnt buy a nexus device .
this phone is SMOOOTH i mean FLUIIID is keyword here.
ive had 1 crash on phone in a months time , 0 lag
Seriously wtf are u about when it comes to call quality this is one of the best devices ive used when it comes to call quality ive had many other 3 other droids before this .

2. then SETTINGS not responding!!! :: native "settings" not responding (I've never seen that on any android before)

your an idiot nexus is purely aimed to be a developer device.
and all the nexus devices run the latest OS which means some might have issues thats the whole reason they get updates quickly and 4.01 is suppose to be buggy thats why all the good roms are on 4.02 or 4.03 and like how 2.3.3 was the base for all gingerbread roms 4.03 will be the base for all the ICS phones.
People like u should just buy an iphone or a SG2 or some other phones which are tried and tested before they are launched not a nexus device.

I'm one of those that really needs the slider keyboard, so this is the phone I'm considering. I'm also on AT&T with grandfathered voice and data plans and don't want to mess things up getting a phone from them.
My current phone is an LG Expo. It's Windows Mobile 6.5, stock ROM and just some tweaks. I went with WinMo because of the seamless integration with my work contacts and calendar. Employer does not allow use of cloud to sync these. I understand there is the Kies app that allows you to directly sync these (though I also have seen that many have trouble with it). I really, really need pop-up reminders of my appointments.
I don't use my phone for games, I don't tweet or facebook, and I don't listen to music or watch videos on it
. I do text a lot, Google, Wikipedia, check sports scores, occasionally use the camera or video, and , of course, make calls. I do occasionally need to sneak in some tethering via WiFi (for which I plan t use PDANet/FoxFi). So, I'm not very demanding. If my eXpo would do better on web sites, I'd probably just stick with it. But even the "mobile" sites have so many graphics these days that they often won't load completely on my phone.
After Microsoft left us WinMo 6.5 users high and dry, taking down the apps store well before it's time, I swore I's never get another Windows phone. No removable battery kills the iPhone. So, Android it is.
With new phones going for around $160 on eBay and the ICS upgrade available (stock AT&T or a few here), this seems the right phone to move to Android. I'm not sure I'm going to like a phone that's an inch longer and half an inch wider, but that seems to be the only real choice these days.
I know a lot of folks here are into getting the most from their phones with the hottest new ROM, but I think there might also be some less experimental that can help me determine if I'm making a good choice.
Well, its been out for quite a while now. Not that its outdated, it is still fast and usable. But the ROMS for it are quite limited, i suggest you stay with stock ICS if you dont want any trouble, but you will lack some features.
Other that that, i still have that phone, using it everyday, still working good, the battery died so i bought a new one (extended). The keyboard and mechanism is still working fine with no sign of it breaking soon.
The tegra 2 chipset is fast enough for any apps to run at a decent speed on it.
The only thing i hate about that phone is the wake-up bug, in a hurry, it can be frustrating that the phone doesnt turn on at the exact moment that i press the button (it normally takes 1-2, even 3 seconds to turn on the screen).
I would recommend it since its gone quite cheap and its been reliable for me.
I bought mine new very recently (2 months) from a seller on amazon, and I haven't been disappointed.
I also love slider qwerty, so the combination of specs and price sealed the deal. Unlike Gab1288 I can't say I recommend the stock ICS rom, it was unstable for me -- I had multiple freezes per day in the 3 days I used it right after I bought the phone.
I've been using spyke555's CM10.1.0 RC2 rom and never been happier with an Android rom. I can't get gps to work right with Sygic maps, which is a bummer, but apart from that, I highly recommend this phone and this rom.
Since I've gotten it, and learning how much I paid for it, I've had two people ask me to buy them one when I visit the US again.
This is my 3rd Captivate Glide in the row. The first had a damaged physical keyboard - the "s" key was very so hard to press that it caused me a pain. The second one had a damaged microphone - sometimes people could barely hear me. After being hit, it worked for a moment. The third phone finally works. So I'm not happy with I927 in terms of the overall quality. But I enjoy the working phone, 512MB RAM in my previous phone (HTC Desire Z / Vision) was not enough. Thus it was extremely slow and unresponsive. 1 GB RAM is not that much but unfortunately there is no 2 GB phone with a physical keyboard on the market. There's also Motorola Photon Q which I would probably prefer better, but I couldn't find a way to get it imported to my country.
EDIT: The third does not work either. After some time IMEI disappears as if there was no /efs. To get it back I need to reconnect the battery...
Hi. Im in the Army and found out Im going to Afghanistan soon. I am looking for an android tablet/hybrid (not looking for a Surface) to hold me over until I we get things set up and I can have my wife ship my gaming laptop over (which is why i dont want a Surface, as I already have a windows device). what I need it to do: read comics, read ebooks, watch videos (by that I mean mostly 1080p 10bit x265 HEVC videos), play games, and skype. ok, the comics, ebooks, and skype dont need much hardware for that, but the videos and games need a good processor. So far I've read the wifi sucks...and other say that the wifi doesnt suck, that it has issues playing games and others say there isnt an issue playing games, etc. Can someone give me their opinion on if this would meet all my needs. Thanks for your help.
howdy, this would meet all your needs, wifi only has issues if you are at a distance from access point and seems to only affect in higher bandwidth internet connections. (hasnt had any effect on mine but im less then 30 meters from AP with adsl connection).
the screen ratio is really good for reading comic etc, wide screen movies have bars but most tablets do this, these days
performance wise this is still the strongest android tablet on the market, will run everything no problem
battery life is pretty good on this tablet too easy get 11 hours screen time over a 3-5 day period on a single charge.
ive said this before but i have owned every major android tablet release from nexus 7 onward and normally get disappointed and sell after a few months but the pixel c really has given me no regrets and would highly recommend it
Thanks for your response. I do like 4:3 ratio-type tablets better than wide-screen for books and comics. I doubt where I'm going there'll be high bandwidth Internet anyway. Lol
Ive had zero issues with mone from the beginning so i dont really know how much i can add. The screen is great and battery life is superb. Its done everything ive wanted.
I bought one and it's to be delivered tomorrow. I'm coming from a Nexus 9, which I really like, but wanted a change. If for some reason the Pixel C is not what you were looking for, the Nexus 9 is a really good device that will easily do what you seem to want to do with a tablet, plus they've really come down in price lately.

I actually was looking at the Nexus 9 with its keyboard as a 2nd option. saw them for decent prices on Amazon. but, im pretty sure im gonna get the Pixel now since it is new and hoping that Google keeps improving it with updates.
It's a great device, get it.
In my opinion, it's a device that's not ready for prime time. There are issues or have been issues with almost every facet of this tablet from build quality to touchscreen issues to display quality to keyboard support and still currently major wifi issues. One of the reasons I cannot recommend the device. For now, the best android tablet is the tab s2 9.7 inch, you get the 4:3 display, a super amoled screen which makes reading easier. A stable device with fast wifi speeds and one of the lightest tablets out there. For extended all day battery life, keep the display brightness on 40 to 50% and all battery life concerns are solved. You will get all day battery life with this setting. There is also microsd card support if you want added memory.

I think the no BS answer is that you are rolling the dice. If it works for you, it's an excellent device, although the keyboard is (still) a little glitchy. If it doesn't, you'll be in Afghanistan coping with a device giving you stupid problems. Have a good backup system.
Since I just applied another software update a few minutes ago (March 1 security patch), I will add that the reason I rolled the dice on the Pixel C was exactly that -- the promise of future software updates and the hope that the initial glitches that have been plaguing some people would eventually be fixed. I just read an Anandtech article saying that the Feb update fixed many of the touchscreen issues they were having, which is good news.
on 5Ghz wifi, and no problems. Wifi range is predominately determined by the Wifi router, not the Wifi device...
I really like the Pixel C. However it's the wrong size/format for single handed traditional tablet use. But it sounds like you have already decided to get it with the keyboard, so thats not an issue.
The hardware build quality is amazing, I think you will be pleased with it. make sure to get the latest OTAs it makes a huge difference to the device.
Bought in Dec with the keyboard or whenever it came out and ended up sending it back. It didn't seem ready for prime time. Laggy and stuttery screen pick up.

Just purchased with the discount and updated to the latest 6.01 and its great. Very responsive so far, with none of the initial issues. Never had wifi issues but am not far from the router, so likely why.
Didn't get the keyboard this time as overall the two together it was quite heavy, it had no backlit keys and disconnecting from the tab always made me feel like I was going to scratch the screen. Likely wouldn't of happened but didn't feel right. As well as I didn't think it was worth the £120.
@jeebugorn - Not sure if you ever got it, but perhaps also consider Remix OS running on your Pixel C.

I really, really like the Pixel C. I like it so much that I hope my 4th one works. The first one died after one day. The second one died after several months. The third one died after one hour.
I've been debating whether I should actually keep the next replacement when it arrives or sell it while it's still sealed in the box and get something else.
I don't mean to hate on the product or on Google. There must be a large majority of people who just get them and use them without any big issues.
If it doesn't die it's a terrific device. Despite my exasperating experience I'm still going to give it one more go because I don't know of a better tablet I'd get instead.
Mine works fine, but I mostly use it to read comics, so my main concern was the screen - and for an LCD it is amazing. I'd love to upgrade to a tablet with AMOLED display in the future. One thing I have noticed though is that it is strangely sluggish - my Note 4 (having almost the same resolution and older SoC) seems much, much faster. I don't know, maybe WiFi is the reason? But it seems to be doing OK.
The keyboard is quite bad though, I end up using a Logitech bluetooth keyboard instead most of the times.
Watched multiple videos comparing the snapdragon vs exynos version and the snapdragon version lags like crazy. The iPhone 7 also totally destroys it at opening apps speed. I've always had Android phones but I'm feeling very hesitant to cancel my order. I have an s6 right now and I hate it. Horrible battery, wobbly home button, and it lags etc. I'm not sure I trust Samsung anymore. Seems the note 7 has the same horrible ram management issues. I called Verizon and spent $200ish to upgrade to the note 7 and they want me to send in my s6. What a mess. I already ordered a case and screen protector. I'm just not sure what to do now.
My (snapdragon) replacement is working great and I am not worried if iphone opens an app a millisecond before my note 7. I haven always had android and always will.
I just purchase what fits my needs regardless of brand or OS. In general I dislike Apple at present as the screen tech is lagging so far behind not to mention its even 200€ MORE than the Note 7. I use the S-pen so the Note is for me on this occasion.

Here's something odd. I got one of the first of AT&T's first batch on August 14th. I exchanged it today for a green battery replacement. Configured the exact same way the new one is noticeably smoother and snappier. The previous phone would get jaggy when scrolling and transitioning every once in a while but not regularly. It had the latest update AT&T pushed out after launch (itself an iteration ahead of T-Mobile) which is the same firmware that came pre-installed on the new one. The only difference was the 132ishMB update that made the battery green which I installed right after getting the new phone. So either: A) something I did configuring my old phone slowed it down, B) there's a h/w or s/w difference between the two, or C) there's more to the 132ishMB update than turning the battery green. Regardless I'm even happier than I was with the original death defying phone.

Ill go over my device history quickly.
I started with pdas in 2003 and then windows mobile. I was using an HTC Kaiser when the first Iphone came out.
I switched to Android with the HTC Desire in early 2010. I have mainly been an HTC guy since then with the Desire HD, One V, S, X, One M7, M8 then M9. I have had other devices as back up phones.
My son had a Nexus 4, HTC M8, and now a Nexus 6p
My Wife had an Iphone4 and Ipad 2 then discovered Android with the S3. She upgraded to the Note 4 when it came out. I bought my Mother in Law the Note 5.
My first Tablet was the original Samsung 10.1 then the Nexus 7 and now Nexus 9. I use an Ipad at work as an "EFB" (electronic flight bag). That is what we use for all manuals and plates. I fly the Airbus for Air Canada.
So yeah, I'm a big techie an a "fan of technology". I have mainly been an HTC fan but have experience with numerous other brands including Nexus handsets and Tablets. I feel I am qualified to give an opinion as I am fairly unbiased. Okay, that's not quite true. I am a huge HTC fanboy (who is currently using a Note 7).
So, why did I switch? I'll tell you.
1. Screen size.
Yup, biggest point.
2. Screen quality
Nothing beats Samsung here. I prefer my M7 screen to my M8 or M9 truthfully (colour accuracy) but the Note series (or Samsung in general) beats the Nexus 6p.
3. S pen
My Wife doesn't use hers. I have missed mine since retiring my last stylus phone the HTC Touch (Vogue). Loving it again.
4. Camera
Not the best, but the most consistent. Anand Tech's latest review said the M10 beats the S7 and Note 7 but hey, not by enough of a margin for me.
So, why didn't I wait for the Pixel phone? Quite frankly 5.7 inches of full on screen (no software buttons) makes a huge difference over 5.5. Also, I am willing to bet screen quality is better. Did I mention the S pen?
What do I miss? Well HTC has nailed touch response. The M7 was good, the M9 was the best. The Note 7? Meh. Not bad at all but HTC has it beat. And....Sense. Touchwiz has grown up, but sometimes the changes feel like change for the sake of change. No thought behind why. Sense just makes sense.
But, I love the Note 7. Hands down the best smartphone I have ever had. I am thoroughly enjoying it and I am sure you will to.

I'm loving it.. Seriously... I'm already getting more than 6 hours SOT first charge.... Amazing huh? No lag whatsoever and hadn't got got at all... Even while charging and being on Skype video for an hour. I haven't even disabled any bloatedware yet. There is an update ready though. I hope that doesn't mess anything up.

Or D) the old and new phones are the same (apart from the battery), and a small number of both batches have lag problems for yet-unidentified reasons. You could have gotten one of the bad ones first time, but the second one was good (as the odds favored it to be).
I had a serious UI-lag problem with my first phone too, but not with the replacement so far. It did take a few days for the problem to show up on the first one, so I'm not ready to celebrate quite yet.

Numerous people have said this.
I still have both and decided to rapidly open and close apps using multitasking, copy and paste etc. I have done this same "test" many times comparing HTC models to one another.
I can subjectively (because jamming with ones fingers is far from scientific) say touch response is the same. Apps seem to open the same but general UI speed seem more "fluid" with snappier animations. Also, I have yet to suffer keyboard lag in the second. The first would manifest itself if say Showbox was downloading videos while responding to a text etc. None here.
Some tips beyond the regular developer options and changing animations to 0.5. Use package disabler pro and disable that cheesy cheetah mobile interface (device maintenance). You will have stock battery and storage options, and the entire UI speeds up.
And before anyone asks, device maintenance was enabled on both and developer options stock settings for my "test".
Edit: received my new phone on the 15th so more than enough time for "lag" to kick in.

Massive, gorgeous display. Faster than my nemesis' I7. Still need tweaks for battery life, but the trade off in performance and consumer joy is worth it.
The S8+ is the best phone I ever had so far, and the battery life is excellent.
I only have two minor issues with my S8+.
1) The speaker is too easy to mistakenly cover while gaming or watch video.
2) Sometimes on the Camera, there is a slight delay between the time you press the record button and when it starts recording, ONLY when you have it set to 4K UHD recording.
Other than that, everything else is flawless for me.
I had the Verizon Galaxy S8 from the day it was released. I really like that phone. I just purchased a refurbished Unlocked S8+ from Bestbuy for $500 because I wanted to see the difference in size and battery life. I'm so happy I took a shot on the bigger brother of the galaxies.
Battery life is better than expected and the overall size is not that different to hold. However when looking at the screen real estate the S8+ is huge and that's what I love about it. With this version I know the drawback may be reasonably timed updates, but if I decide to leave Verizon with all the T-Mobile changes, I can do it an not have to invest in a phone.

One Of the best mobile ever
I wanna to buy this mobile, Am so interested in this mobile to buy.
Gotta say, coming from mostly Note devices, this has to be the best phone I've ever used and owned. It's only been a couple of weeks but it's already left a big impression on me. Not only that, this is the fist phone that I've used in its stock state. No root (of course our SD doesn't have it yet, anyway) but I'm not really missing it or my S-Pen. Most of the functions my S-Pen were able to perform I can do on this phone which was a pleasant surprise. I still miss interacting with the display with the pen, though. I may move onto the Note 8 at the end of the year but right now I'm very happy with this S8 Plus.
So a quick info on my background. I have owned many Smartphones in the last 5 years, form pretty much all major brands(Samsung, Apple, Sony, Motorola). I also consider myself a Poweruser.
So this is my third Galaxy device and the first I was very happy with the S8+ for the first few weeks but I stumbled upping more and more negatives about the phone.
1. After a few hours of uptime it will start to stutter when typing fast or switching between apps.
2. The over the top animations get annoying, but if you turn them off it feels weed and even slower.
3. Battery life seems good when watching videos that are supported by the hardware decoder but most hdr stuff is not no I could not even watch The Revenant on one charge and during that the device got very warm and I encountered a few dropped frames.
4. Idle battery life is very bad (loosing 30% during the night about 7-8h) but this applies pretty much to all Android phone.
Overall it's still an amazing phone but as everything it has its downsides.

One last quick update.
Been reading through all the posts and replies on the latest root updates for the Snapdragon variants and after about a month now on this completely stock S8+ I can't see any practical reasons to go through the grind that is today's root method. It certainly isn't like it used to be as a long-time Samsung rooting fiend and now it just seems far more trouble than it's worth. This out of the box state is simply outstanding. Obviously, your experiences may vary but based on my user habits, and I run the hell outta my daily driver, it's been performing brilliantly with no issues. BixBye let's me remap that idiotic button without root so I'm good on that end which was the only real reason I was even contemplated rooting when it became available for this version.
I truly believe at this stage in Android and Samsung's combined software and hardware development on the S8+ things have finally matured enough where I'm not feeling that burning desire to root. Sure, there's a couple of apps here and there that I will miss having but I still have that Exynos Note 5 to kick around.
Fantastic phone. I will be considering getting the Note 8 but only because of that S-Pen. This S8+ is an amazing daily driver if and when I do make the switch.
The best phone on the market to date! Not only does the phone have excellent performance, but it's just a beautifully crafted device. I'd say the phone itself is..... art.

i'm on the note 4 just and was wondering about screen width,do you lose much on the s8+ compared to note 4?
There are a lot of "best phone I've ever owned" on here. I hate to be that girl, but... I agree. I love the features at the software level such as being able to make all apps full screen. I also love the phone in general from a design perspective. The display and battery are both amazing.

It's an awful phone. Unfortunately. The four things that save the situation are the following.
1. The screen is simply beautiful.
2. The camera is wonderful
3. I didn't pay it
4. The Google pixel 2 XL will be ridiculously expensive here in Greece.
The bad things are:
1. Huge battery drain. I had the last Nexus that was awful and I found it's brother. Some times I have to charge it twice a day. I use Android since 2010 and I don't make experiments. I use the same applications for years so I have a very solid knowledge of what to expect.
2. Lag. I don't know why but I have. I use the unbranded Greek version. I always install the new versions with Odin. With full format. I do the same with the Nexus and and my iPhone. In the latter two everything works so smoothly and I usually don't make the upgrades in time since I am bored for the setup. But now no no no. I have done 3 formats. One the day I bought it to unbrand it, the second in August when the latest version appeard and another one last Monday. The same. Unacceptable lag. Not that it's like a 3 year phone but it shouldn't happen.
Definetly one of the best devices Samsung had made. A true upgrade in all areas from the S7. Improvements in efficiency as well as the addition of Bixby and "infinity" put the S8+ it a clear cut above the V20, G6, and Moto G5.
