1) Wrong section.
2) No need for 2 topics.
3) It is not important.
4) No, no one can make it.
5) No, only ICS and newer have the support for it.
6) Why would someone need on-screen and hardware buttons both?
I just fear if my hard key got break. Thats why i need soft key.
Ok thanks for your answer.
Give me your thanks if I helped you

I have been trying to do this as well. I have tried to follow several guides but it always errors when trying to recompile framework-res.apk
this is one of the guides I have tried
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1364757
the phone I am trying to use has a broken connection inside for the capacitive buttons and its not yet available to replace, so ics soft keys are my only hope
Ah man that sucks sir. Yeah the compiling part is what is stopping me. Its not as easy as it sounds.

Why would you want the on screen soft buttons that just takes screen space

Yes, that is exactly why. I just don't understand where it's going wrong...all the guides make it look so easy. Even when I make no changes, I cant decompile and recompile without errors. Not sure want the problem is since this is really the first time I have tried such a thing.

U could try the softkey app from the play store. It would take less space. It works on rooted devices only. I've tried it GB and it works fine. Don't know about ics but it's worth a shot.

i'll donate a fistful of dollars for just a simple hack or app to activate the Volume rocker as camera capture on sprint GS3 710. i'm new to rooting, installed CM10 ( i don;t have a need to root except to get jellybean, or the volume rocker to activate image capture), but the camera on the most recent nightly CM10 build doesnt have settings at all
i'm using CWM loaded via odin, if that helps.
if something already exists out there that is NOT HX camera mod 1.45, point me to it PLEASE no offense to HX, it just won;t install via CWM and i'm not crafty enough to learn a new root method tonight.
thanks ya'll

Did you know that you can switch off(put it to sleep) your phone by swiping from the menu key to the back key?And then you can switch it back on by doing the exact opposite...by swiping from the back button to the menu button. You dont even need root for this!! Works for every ROM

What in the hell is wrong with you? Just in the past 20 minutes I've come across 3 vile posts from you. Does putting people down online make you feel better about yourself? Grow up.
So my power button is broken and i'm on the official T-Mobile Jellybean release. I was wondering if there was some code I could put in build.prop that could enable the volume rocker wake until I send it into Samsung for repair. I exhausted every resource and read many forums but I couldn't find anything. If anyone could help me or even point me in the right direction it'll be really appreciated!
Thanks a lot!

what u need is button remapping.
depending on model of your phone, u can find out hard button mapping, then using adb u can assign the change.
i know it's possible, i did it on a old captivate once. Will go thru my notes.....
hit thanks now or late
Hmm sounds hard but i'll try googling it. Thanks!

I had the power button issue too. I sent it to a third party place to get the button replaced. My phone is working like a charm now.
It seems the gs2's had this issue on a few of them. The button seems to get stuck and the phone keeps on rebooting.
Cost me 40 bucks to get it fixed. Well, plus shipping.
Here is the link to the place I used.

Hope this helps
Tried remapping the buttons...failed miserably. Thanks for the help guys!

Try fixing it yourself
there are excellent step by step videos on youtube
teaches you exactly how to replace all parts
I have seen the videos seems simple
just order the button assembly online
save yourself some big buks
you can probably fix it faster yourself this way too...
