What Happened to Running Apps? - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

Hey!
Today I tried to install some running apps and I noticed that not a single one is compatible with Gio and a few months ago I had MapMyRun installed without any problem...Now I can't install them from any place. I tried directly from the Apk file and it says application not installed. Already tried Endomondo, Run Keeper, Nike Running, Map My Run...The only one I managed to install was Zombies, Run!
What happened?

did you installed another rom?

Yeah, I have MIUI Gingerbread Final. But with CM7 worked fine..

can you use a file browser and go to /system/framework
check if
android.google.maps.framework.jar
or something similar is inside.

I feel really stupid about creating new topics and immediatly find the solution...If you guys want you can close it or then leave it open in order that other people can find out the solution too. I followed this topic: http://www.callum-macdonald.com/2011/02/06/missing-com-google-android-maps/
and right away I managed to install Endomondo apk using ES File Explorer. voetbalremco thanks anyway because your question lead me to the search so I guess it posting this here was useful ahah. Now wish me luck, I'm going to run!

Roms & APKS

Not sure if this info has been posted anywhere. So, I would like to know if there is any way to install APKs from a different rom onto current rom. I am currently running IncRom 1.2, but I have never been a fan of Sense dialers. I would like to install either MIUI dialer or any 2.3 based dialer. Is it possible, and if so, how would I go about doing that? Any info. would be greatly appreciated.
Just download whatever rom you want the apk from and put it onto your new rom? I hope that makes sense as I can't think of a better way to explain ...

I get what you're saying and I've tried that before, but then I always get force closes on phone app. What I've done before is grab apk from 2nd rom, place it in place of apk in current rom. I've tried zipping after that, and not zipping the file. After trying both ways, I reinstall rom, then run into the force close issue. Do I need to reinstall Rom after that? Or am I not even doing this the right way?
You need to fix the permission after you put it into your rom. I use root explorer and its two boxes for the first row then one for the other two.

Sounds good. Will try fixing permissions. Will report back on results. BTW, thanks for the help so far.
I don't think it is possible because the phone apk is tied into the framework. Please correct me if I'm wrong

I fixed permissions, removed current phone.apk and replaced it with the fixed phone.apk. I rezipped rom and reinstalled. Once it was up and running I was right back where I started with the original phone.apk, minus the fc's.

I know this works with the music.apk as I've done it in the past just replacing the stock app with the gingerbread music app and it worked just fine after setting permissions. But now that I think about it more I think I also had to install it just like a regualr app to get all the files in place then set permissions not just replace the file in the system/app folder.
The phone apk ties into other programs. It is not a stand alone flash. There would need to be some code changes to make it work.
Seems like too much work for me. Appreciate the ideas & help you guys offered.

Check out incredibly re-engineered...
Aosp dialer will probably not work on a Sense based roms as Sense is a UI overlayed and pretty deeply integrated into the Android os. You may want to consider one of the dialer options from market...Dialer one is popular. Or you may just want to consider moving to an aosp rom.

I have been trying to install reengineered but ever since I updated clockworkmod I can't. That's besides the point. I have used a few aosp roms but miss out on Sense. Guess I have my cake, but can't eat it. Oh well.

Downgrade clockwork or reflash via recovery. You wont be dissapointed.

I keep getting errors when trying to downgrade cw. I give up on 1 thing just to end dealing with something else.

Who are you asking? I never uninstalled stock messaging so I'm not sure who you are directing that towards. This was my first attempt at trying to move apks around so I don't have enough info.

[Q] Market missing!?

Hey everyone,
When i turned my phone on today, i noticed that the Android Market is completely removed from my phone!
I have tried installing it again using a .apk and also tried installing it using a .zip and flashing it via recovery, but they both have not worked...
any idea on how i could get this back?
Rather than use an apk you've put on your SD card card yourself, use a file explorer to go to system\app and run vending.apk from there.
This worked for me when the market was missing after flashing a new rom recently.
I did get a couple of download errors when I first used the market, but after a couple of rebooted it was fine.

Maybe it can be pushed or pulled or something through adb, but I don't know how to use this.
Keep asking though, someone will be able to help....

Hey guys that's the wrong ROM gripper. I already have that one. By the way I just renamed the extension to apk and it showed me the file but its not the correct ROM gripper.
I need ROM gripper ++ because I can get N64 Roms. The regular ROM gripper doesn't have the N64 option.

Bump
Did you ever find this? Not showing up in the market using CM7 RC3 and I don't have a backup either
I'm also looking for this for the same reason

Where did you get 64 emulator can't find it
Here, just adb pulled and renamed these from my phone. Since they (were) free apps, I don't see a problem with posting them.

It got yanked from the Market due to performance complaints. The dev said he's going to have it back up in a month.
Thanks!
I purchased N64oid so I restored from Titanium.

New Market STILL not able to install on CM 7.1

I've downloaded it numerous times, renamed it, tried on CM7 nightlies and I'm still unable to install it. I've tried Astro, file.manager, and es file explorer. It looks like its installing but then it says "application not installed". I've searched for an answer in these forums but no answer found. Anyone have a work around or fix that I am completely missing? Thanks.

Works for me. You might have to wait for update

try uninstalling original market first, that might work.

[Q] Help with skin installing problem

Hey guys,
I come to this site quite a bit but only just made an account to ask this question. I have the Desire HD with android 2.3.3 and sense 2.1. Now I've been trying to install some skins onto my phone, but it doesn't seem to be working. I've done it before a while ago and it worked fine, I have no idea what the problem is now.
So I move the .apk onto my SD card into a folder called "skins", and using Astro, I select install. It seems to install it fine, but the skins just never show up in the skin picker. I've tried deleting the data for skin picker and rebooting and re downloading and moving the files but nothing seems to work :/ any ideas?
Thanks in advance guys, keep up the good work
Are the skins for sense 2.1? There's a few skins here you can try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048894
yeah they are, that's actually the thread I got the skins from, and also the skins I successfully installed a while ago

Unfortunately there isn't much that can be done from your side if it is not rooted and stock.
Last thing though, are you using the stock package installer? or Astro installer?
If you are using astro installer try using the stock installer instead.
Last resort is to factory reset and try again.
Thanks for the help, its just that I've installed skins this way before? I'm not entirely sure whether that was before or after the 2.3 update though.... Also, how do I use the stock installer to install the file that's on my SD card? I'm currently using Astro because its how I view the files on the card.

Does it give you an option to chose which installer when you open the apk? if not, then it is running the stock package installer. And at that point you have 2 choices.
1. Re-download another 2.1 skin and try installing and if fails... quit
2. Factory reset and see if that sorts out the problem.
