Smirkit is a great flashable zip created by XDA member Smirkis that you simply just flash in recovery, then install terminal to change your recovery or your bootloader read his op for full instructions they're fairly straight forward I believe. As far a TWRP flashable zip simply place the zip on your sdcard and flash it from recovery then select reboot no wipes needed very easy.

Please help
Wipe factory/data reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, wipe system, flash rom zip, flash gapps zip, reboot then system if prompted. Initial boot of any new ROM takes a bit but should never exceed 10 mins and I'm rating that on the extreme high end it should be more like 3 or 4 mins. If you continue to have problems make sure you are doing md5 checks on your files and consider restoring your backup and return to twrp 2.2.2.1 .

The same issue? Really?
The issue in the OP was that he had CWM installed instead of TWRP. Clearly, your issue is completely different.

I've tried with multiple recoveries same issue with all of them, and yeah it's been way past 10 minutes now, about 2 hours, and I always wipe everything including dalvik/battery stats etc everytime before flashing a new rom
Install TWRP 2.2.x
Wipe system and factory reset
Install your ROM or even a different ROM
Do this, and I'm positive you will have success, UNLESS...there are error messages in TWRP that you have failed to mention.

Actually I tell the whole story now. When I was making backup of my stock ROM the sd card showed low on space. So I removed that SD card and inserted the one which came with the Phone. On that I installed all the required zip files. Then I made backup of the stock ROM and the data. After that I followed these steps mentioned here -:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1863260
According to the steps I did not did wipe davik cache etc. after instaling the ROM I did wipe factory and data reset and wipe cache partition. After following all the steps mentioned I rebooted my phone as mentioned. But after rebooting the phone is stuck on android logo. I then again went into recovery and tried to wipe dalvik cache the confirmation page that appears before wiping anything is not coming. Also when I tried to restore my phone to the stock ROM an error message is coming. So I am not able to restore to the stock ROM. This is the whole thing. So guys please help. I hope I have not bricked my phone. Any solutions?
Thanks

If you are install custom rom from stock rom,its better to use px-cwmV2..
If test it,and it minimize the risk of stuck on android logo..

If you use that version, use the version that can support rfs+ext4 file system..
Stock rom use rfs file system and custom rom usually use ext4 file system,so therefore you have to use recovery that support both..

If you have working recovery it's no use to flash stock ROM, just flash px-cwmV2 http://www.mediafire.com/file/y1xy6g2y5tpp1fg/px-cwm-v2.zip.
Then wipe all, including dalvik, flash desired ROM, wipe all again (including dalvik), and you should be good to go.

I have. As i said, you could just try CWM v2.
BUT to be absolutely safe flash a stock ROM using Odin, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20397915&postcount=3.
After u flash the stock ROM, go to default recovery, factory reset, boot the rom, shutdown.
Flash the desired version of CWM using Odin or trough recovery, and then flash the custom ROM u want.
For me CWM 5.0.2.7 ext4+ RFS couldn't wipe dalvik, nor could it mount /system. So I used cwmV2.
Good luck!

just enter recovery like normally, and flash cwm-v2.zip
after its done you pull the battery out, and boot into recovery again.

Okay which twrp and follow my instructions at the bottom of my post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1923010 for flashing a ROM if your using twrp 2.3.1.1 you need to be using 2.2.2.1 initial boot always takes time if you continue to have trouble in twrp select mount make sure there aren't checks in the boxes of system and data if so uncheck them and try reboot then system.

There's a flashable zip here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592681&page=21 in post 208 flash in recovery then select reboot recovery remember to thank the member for providing it. You could also restore your backup then use kfu to revert.
Hi all, I was on AKOP's milestone ROM before trying to flash their newest one. I did not do anything to the kernel or anything by the way.
I'm using ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.2.7 and I rebooted into recovery and flashed super dark side wipe and then JB-MR1 and then gapps.
I went through the entire start up process with inputting your information and then finally I got into the actual home screen. I clicked around to see how the UI looked and then decided to reboot through the menu.
It was in the rebooting animation icon for at least 30 min before I decided to pull the battery. I want to wipe and start again but my cwm recovery isn't installing anything.
EDIT: The phone still works as I can boot into the phone and use it. I'm trying to reboot now: power button hold>reboot, but its taking ages still...need help on this reboot thanks
Any help here?
EDIT 2: Pretty much phone is "functional" but any method of trying to reboot or reboot into recovery fails
Thanks all!
Check the Md5 hash to make sure it is a good download.
Otherwise it sounds like it is CWM that can be causing issues.
Which version of gapps are you flashing?

Checked the Md5 with an app and it matches up perfectly with akop's main website.
I'm running 6.0.2.8 cwm. Is it even possible that its cwm? I used the same version to flash AKOPs new ROM.
and im flashing gapps-jb-20121212-signed.zip
Does it have anything to do with my kernel?
You aren't supposed to use super wipe with cwm 6. That is probably your problem.

Thanks so much for pinpointing the problem! Is there a fix to this?
And is this the recommended method of flashing? (Taken from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1926754):
1. Wipe factory data/reset
2. Wipe cache
3. Go into mounts and storage
4. Format /system
5. Format /data
6. Format /cache
7. Enter advanced
8. Wipe dalvik
9. Flash ROM then gapps
10. Reboot and let the ROM settle for 5-10 minutes if flashing TW ROMs, this step is unnecessary for AOSP based ROMs.
11. (Optional) if flashing a new radio flash AFTER the ROM has been initially booted for the first time. No wipes are necessary when flashing a new radio but it HAS to be flashed after the ROM is loaded and settled in. Flashing a radio first and then a ROM has caused issues like the phone not even recognizing there is a network for it. ( phone remains in emergency mode )
Edit:
Pretty sure my phone is bricked now... in a continuous boot up loop... BUT i can still access recovery

2. If i cant boot into my phone to get to my SD card, how do i download and put files onto my phone?

Stock kernel is just fine.
Odin will flash the stock OS to your phone from the computer. Make sure to read the Odin directions a few times before trying it because it could hard brick if something goes wrong.

I'm trying to read through the thread you gave me but its kinda cluttered and its hard finding exactly where to start...pointers?
From the first post of that thread you will need
1. The prerequisites
-Odin
-Drivers
-Kies(dunno if this is mandatory but I guess it couldn't hurt.)
2. T-Mobile t989 uvlhi stock ROM(Odin)
You will need some type of zip software to extract the files from this.
3. Follow the steps under Installation - Odin installation(skip step 1)
After you get the stock ROM running you can install custom recovery and then flash your custom ROMs.

make sure your phone is not connected to usb
you must hold down volume up at down and power until you feel a vibration
when you feel a vibration let go of the power button only
this will get you to recovery... then follow my steps
and let us know how it went... good luck m8

Oh one more thing...
you might want to try to redownload the rom
just in case its fragmented somehow
if you get into recovery you can copy over the rom again while in recovery
make sure you are usb unplugged
boot recovery
plug usb into computer
go to mount
only cache, internal sdcard and micro sdcard are selected on mine
then click on mount usb storage
copy over fresh copy of rom
then follow my flash instructions

To the OP, I'm glad you got it working. JMT JB3 is great. I'm on it too. I love it.
Just a side note on these scripts. Darkside does not work with anything based off of the official 4.1.2 release because of the Preload that is included. You need to use the new modified ones from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2235141

I am trying to install this rom: Jedi Mind Trick JB3 !-- http://d-h.st/xPj
These are the steps I did:
1. Downloaded ROM and used USB Storage to transfer to phone
2. Made a backup using rom toolbox app
3. Wiped data (factory data reset) using TWRP
4. Clicked Install in TWRP and selected ROM. When I tried installing I got the error below:

The procedure for a rom installation is usually listed on its OP<-Opening Page
One more thing... you asked me in a text message about root...
TWRP 2.5.0.0 has the ability to root a device...
here is... IMO the easiest procedure to install stock 4.1.2, recovery and root
flash stock rom with odin (I rebooted to system looked at the sock rom quick and went back to odin(should still work without restart toggle on))
flash TWRP 2.5.0.0 (with reboot toggle on)
open TWRP go to reboot and reboot system (it will prompt you to install root)
when phone boots open SU update done!

Redownload the ROM. Also turn off sig verification in twrp.
Flashing a ROM isn't as hard as some people make it. All these crazy steps.. And waiting and blah blah.. Useless.

There is no ROM on your device. That's why it gets stuck on the splash screen... No OS to boot into.

Hey I've been a long time lurker just haven't posted in forums because I haven't made enough posts Lol.
Well my question is in regards to paranoid android 4.3/3.94.
I've seen lots of people with same issue I havent figured out a fix.
Every 4.3 ROM I flash works fine, until reboot then I get stuck at Google screen. Can't backup or restore. Can't even reflash a 4.2.2. I HAVE to do a full wipe SD card and all, then use adB to sideload a rom.. I've flashed the newest primeD04 boot loader or whatever it is. Still the exact same issue.
I have twrp 4.2.2 I believe , maybe 4.2.0. If that helps..
Please help me I need to be on 4.3 .. And have had to do a full wipe more than 5 times Lol...

I'm on toro. Verizon galaxy nexus.
Well to flash a 4.3 ROM.. I went into TWRP.. team in recovery program. Click factory reset, wipe system, cache and davlik.
Then flash 4.3 ROM, gapps and reboot.
After everything loads I try to reboot and I get stuck at Google screen... I have yet to wipe EVERYTHING because I just figured out how to use adb to side load zips.
Gonna try FULL WIPE SD card and everything then flash 4.3 using adb.
I'm on newest boot loader with fk01 and fk02 radios... Are those newest radios ?

Ok, i want some info cuz i am allso confused).
1. what rom do you flash with adb sideload PA 3.94?
2. you said you cant flash 4.2.2 anymore?
3. if you use adb sideload you have the android sdk installed
4. if second and third point are true then use adb to wipe everything from the phone and download stock 4.2.2 img and flash from windows adb command prompt.

I tried flashing paranoid android 3.94 which is android 4.3 with adb. Hoping it would work different . Nope same result.
I am able to get back on 4.2.2 using adb. I'm on 4.2.2 typing this message . I just need to find out why I can't get on 4.3 with getting stuck at boot screen

I believe my boot loader is unlocked. When. I reboot I see he unlocked lock. But I did flash the new boot loader so maybe I would have to re unlock it? I will try the ROM you posted
Seems like a lot of the time people who are having this stuck at Google screen issue have flashed the new boot loader. Or am I just imagining things?

I had the issue when I tried to go directly from 4.2.2 to a 4.3 custom. The only thing that cleared it up was flashing stock 4.3 from google. After that, no more problems.
Hmm wonder what could be causing it. I did have this issue going from 4.2.2 to 4.3. Every 4.3 ROM I have flashed has booted.
toro, toro!
I solved my problem after reflashing the new boot loader and a new ROM reboot. Then power off. Battery pull then I wiped cache. I'm not sure exactly what the issue was but now I can load up any 4.3 ROM without a problem )

Oh no... I installed PA 3.94 yesterday and everything seemed great. I didn't have any issues booting the first time (although it took a while), but now I'm afraid to reboot my phone in case it gets stuck at the boot screen like you guys are describing.
EDIT: I did a reboot when I got home and it booted up fine, although I felt like it took longer than on previous versions.

Gotta be able to reboot your phone brother lol. Give it a shot. If it locks up there is always a way to fix the issue... Good luck. Best wishes
FIX for issue getting stuck on google screen after 4.3 reboot
I don't know if anyone has posted this elsewhere. I had the same problem yesterday - after a lot of playing around this is how I fixed it:
***Note1: you need adb and fastboot.
***Note2: make external backup of things (i.e. photos) you want to keep using adb.
Procedure:
1. Download 4.2.2 image from google (can't post link because of spam prevention rules - you can search for "google developers nexus images")
2. extract files to location of choice
3. Download latest custom recovery image of your choice. I prefer TWRP (latest 2.6)
3. reboot to recovery, do a full factory reset (wipe everything, you will lose all your storage).
4. Reboot to bootloader (from phone off, power plus volume rocker).
5. flash stock image via fastboot (change names and paths acordingly):
Code:
fastboot devices (make sure fastboot can see your device)
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-toro-<current_ver>.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash radio /path/to/radio-toro-<current_ver>.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash radio-cdma /path/to/radio-cdma-toro-<current_ver>.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot -w update /path/to/image-mysid-<version>.zip
5. After this last step, the phone should reboot.
6. Go through the phone setup process.
7. power off, and boot to bootloader
8. flash custom recovery:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery /path/to/custom-recovery.img
9 reboot to recovery. TWRP will ask you if you want to root when you reboot to system.
10. Phone rooted and like new!
I think that is all - you can flash your ROM of choice after this!
