Restoring Nandroids - HTC One X

Stupid question I know but I've not found the answer.... I'm playing with JB roms on my HOX. If I have backups of various roms (nandroid backup) do I need to re-flash the boot.img for that particular nandroid or does it work from the full backup I made?

[Q] Back Up Options

Hey guys, i have a Rooted Evo4G and am in the process of switching ROMs to find the best one. Now i know to use nandroid before every flash, and to use Titanium Backup to backup/restore data once the device is flashed. My MAIN question is what is the difference between nandroid backup and the rom backup option in Rom Manager?
To be honest, nandroid backup never does the job right - so is the rom backup better/as good as nandroid?
Thanks in advance.

Nandroid backup and backup option in rom manager is the same thing. Both of them take a snapshot of your phone's state at the time you do it. Can you elaborate on how your nandroids don't get it right?
Fwiw, I highly recommend using Amon_Ra to nandroid than clockwork, personal preference though. Good luck
Like agentphantom asked, what exactly is happening that makes you think something is wrong?

[Q] Bit of a noob question regarding backups and switching ROMs

I just want to confirm this and it might be a foolish question... But if I'm using AOKP and I have a CM10.1 backup, can I do a restore to that backup and it will restore to that ROM as well? Or do I need to re-flash CM10.1 before restoring the backup?
Thanks, still figuring all this out!
The backup contains everything of the rom. Apps/contacts...you name it. Make sure when you are coming from another rom back to the backup to flash the boot.img from the backup !

Thanks for the quick answer! It actually looks like CWM automatically does the boot.img as well! At least for AOKP back to CM10.1...
Thanks again!
A nandroid backup contains all ! ,the recovery at the time of backing up. Even the boot.img. restoring a nandroid backup wont restore the boot img. It needs to be flashed manually

[Q] CWM Backup - Fully working?

Seeing as everyone ignores my question in threads such as cm10 and rooting, I thought I'd make a seperate thread.
So my question is if it is proven that a CWM backup and restore works fully without any problems. If I create a backup now, flash a custom rom, then go back to CWM and choose restore, will it restore my backup without any problems and error messages that can lead to a bricked phone?
No one's replied probably because no one (who frequents these forums) have tried it yet!
I just tried it with success.
I did a CWM backup installed stock FW, installed CM10.1 again and did a restore.
everything is back as before.

[Q] About EFS Backup

Hi Friends,
i have a noob question about the EFS backup. So far i understand is the backup on 4.1.2 not compatible with 4.3 (new bootloader) b'coz it has a different folder path. What me makes scare is, i've read some posts from some users that they have no imei after official uptade with odin.
Why do i ask? I want to backup efs and flash the pre-rooted 4.3 rom without new bootloader b'coz i feel safer and the efs backup will work. But in my mind is to test the new 4.3 with new bootloader and knox (i know its not easy to get 4.1.2 back)
Is it really risky o are there some newbies wich makes mistakes? Can i paste the old backuped EFS folder in to the new path for correct imei?
I really searched on the forum also except XDA, but there are similar questions with different answers.
Thanks to all
I think that if you are worried about restoring, you should do a full nandroid backup to SD card from recovery. That way you don't need separate EFS backup as it is included in nandroid backup, so you can restore whole phone exactly as it was before.

1. Is EFS backup really included in CWMR or Philz Recovery?
2. Can i get back to 4.1.2 from 4.3 (new bootloader) only with an older NAND backup?

1. I don't think so. In Philz, efs backup option can be found in Custom Backup menu
Check this thread out for backing up EFS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2389426
2. I did restore my 4.1.2 nandroid backup after flashed DN3 rom. It worked. But do efs backup for just in case.

TWRP noob question?

If I TWRP nandroid backup my current rom? then flash a new rom? Is it safe to restore the nandroid backup to the newly flashed rom? I mean it's only the data that I will restore. Thanks!
If the two ROMs share the same base, it's safe.
Just to clarify since you designated "noob" if the roms you are changing between are the stock roms you will be fine if not system and app data may not match up depending on the rom
