I loved swiftp on my previous phone. Now I just got a N2 and noticed the app doesn't exist anymore.
Of course I can download the apk somewhere, but I wondered, are there any other easy FTP apps?
What I want from the app is really simple
-Option to enable/disable it
-Option to show broadcast ip, which I then enter in windows explorer as a network location
-Option to browse SD card of my phone, or whole device (with root)
Is there any app that does this, and NOTHING MORE? I just really want to keep it simple, because that is all I need.

I know, there are many ways to set up FTP. However I have not found 1 as simple as SWIFTP. As I said above, I want an app that does ONLY that. It must exist, right?

Bell Canada removed this app for some reason, and I *do* have a Samsung TV, so would find it very useful.
No one has this app?
it is in the samsung apps app, is it not in yours?
I've just downloaded it (because I can) although I have no idea where it keeps the install files?
FYI, it's called QWERTY remocon....
Also, would this thread help?

No, like I said, Bell Canada removed it for some strange reason. It does not show in our Samsung apps... actually I have nothing in there whatsoever, it is totally empty except two junk apps the phone comes with anyway.

It is not in that zip file.
If you installed it the APK should be in /system/app, which you can get to in Astro or My Files... it would be much appreciated if you could post it or PM it to me.
Today it also vanished in Europe from the samsung store.
Has anybody the apk?!
After reading this I went to my samsung app market to try to help. The app us also missing in mine too. It was there a few day before.

Thanks for looking.
It seem's we need somebody who has it already installed.
I installed it on my i9000, and I looked where you said it might be and it's not there, I just have the samsung apps.apk I did a search using Astro and nothing came up with the remocom.
Any other place I might look or it might be named?

I'd like to help you as I have the remocon app installed since the first day, however I don't see any /system/app location in Astro.
Is there someone who tried and succeeded with remocon on 2008/2009 TV model via router and ethernet?
I can see TV remote control on my Galaxy S (flashed to official JM1 with odin) French Orange carrier.
i flashed one other galaxy S (JM1 with odin) French SFR carrier and i don"t see the app...

I downloaded the apk file to my Motorola Milestone (Android 2.1), but it says "Download not successful. No application could be found for opening this file" (translated).
I downloaded it again, but still the same. Other downloaded apks work fine. Does somebody have a solution for that? Does it only work with Samsung phones?

I wish to install "Google Korean Keyboard IME" on the Samsung Galaxy Y.
But it is not showing in the MarketPlace. Searching on the PC Marketplace tells me that this app is not compatible. I see no reason why, unless this is due to screen resolution.
Can anyone check this out? Is the Marketplace in error saying that it is incompatible, in which case, can it be sideloaded? Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
I also have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus , and installed the Google Korean IME keyboard app with no problem for that device, as the app was happily listed in the marketplace.
But on the Samsung Galaxy Y, the Google Play (marketplace) does not list the Google Korean IME keyboard app, so I can't install it as I don't know any other method of installing an application other than the marketplace.
Get the apk from your Nexus, pass it to your SGY and install. If you don't know how to get apk's manually you can download the apkExtractor app in the market. Alternatively, you can just google for an apk, download and install.

Thanks, that was a great and very helpful explanation, which I was able to follow.
Using this method I successfully installed the keyboard on the Samsung Galaxy Y, but unfortunately it didn't allow me to use it, so I give up. The technique was very useful to know though.
You're welcome. There are a lot of apps in the market that say they are incompatible but some of them actually work pretty well with this phone, so you have to get them from other sources and try for yourself. XD

I cant.
There is no "my files" app on the galaxy nexus like there is on the galaxy s series.
I am having to use a third party app to be able to see my files on my sd card and when i long press the file to share it there is only an option to send via gmail.
Need a solution to this because its sending me crazy.

it works in root explorer too.
Maybe its just astro!
I just tried sending a file from my gnex to my buddies sgs2 over bluetooth using root explorer and astro. Both worked perfectly fine. In astro I can do it two ways... touch the file to open it and it displays the universal 'share' icon... touch that and bluetooth is a share option. The other way is just to long press any file and select 'send' from the menu... in which bluetooth is a send option. So yeah... it worked fine for me. My bluetooth was originally off and when I selected to send via bluetooth it just prompted me to turn it on first

its located once your using a file explorer i prefer root explorer but its under system/app and place it their and change permissions and yes i did that specifically
this is not galaxy s 3's svoice, it's galaxy note's new vlingo voice app! s3's svoice is very similar to siri were it opens weather and forecast in same app, this just makes a search for you.
Hi guys I opened this thread up to share some of my top favorite rooted applications. Many experienced users will know what most of these are but some may be new, and of course this is a great place to begin for inexperienced root users. I'm not going to go into crazy detail about all of them but I'm hoping that others will post, comment, and share their findings as well. Take a look.
Avast! - advanced mobile security that gives you virus scan, theft protection, firewall, text/call block, and more!
Adfree- self explanatory. One of the best ad blockers for your browser in the market.
Airdroid- this is my personal favorite. Simply run the app, follow the quick instructions and BOOM you are managing all your own files from your phone both internal and external on your regular desktop computers or laptops. Its super easy to use and a must have.
Cachemate- clears cache with a click of a button.
My backup (root edition) - serves just like titanium backup. Easily backup your apks and data or just apks alone. Also includes photos/videos/music. Reason why I prefer this is because I used to use titanium mainly for freezing and backing up but ics/jb both have the "disable" option now.
Quickboot- quickly boot into recovery/reboot/power off
Root browser- arguably the best file explorer/manager out there. Pretty fast r/w speeds.
Root call blocker- not only can you manually enter the numbers you want blocked but this is one of the first apps I found where your phone won't even ring whatsoever.
SD booster- boost SD card speed. Don't know too much about it but was told from a friend to set the speed to 2048kb for optimization.
Terminal emulator- the "command prompt" of android.
Undelete- ever accidently delete a file and get really mad? Simply run this app and snatch it back!
Voodoo ota- copies your superuser binaries and allows you to keep root after an ota update (going to come in handy once the official jb comes through )
Hope you guys enjoy these apps. Obviously not responsible for anything that these do to your device. Please comment and also share your findings ! Thank you

I am using Grrenify and Seeder. From "hacktools" Faceniff and wi-fi kill.
greenify is great.
my recommendations are Android Firewall, Root Explorer, and Titanium Backup.
Android Firewall is great in that it blocks internet (WiFi/mobile data/both) to apps that you specify. this is great for blocking ads for those that want to play games that do not require a data connection.
As this thread is about root apps I thought I'd ask here rather then start a new thread.... has anyone found a screen recorder that actually works on the M? I've tried SRC and screencast with no luck...even a method that requires me to connect it to the PC would be great....
