Where did my note 2 come from? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Last week I purchased an unlocked note 2. Clearly an import as it's not available in Canada yet. I'm just curious is there's any way to tell what country it was intended for sale in?
Thanks..

just ask him in S Voice =)

assuming it comes with a mains plug, you see what matches different places in the world. The UK has a 3 rectangular pins. European typically has 2 round pins. Sure you can find images online.

It came with a European plug, but the documentation was in English which is why I was a bit stumped.

If you don't recognize the language of the materials that came with the phone (such as the quick start guide, etc) you can try this:
Go to google translate (translate.google.com) on a web browser and set the "from" language to "detect" (or auto-detect.) Then start copying some of the text from the documentation (quick start guide or whatever else came with the phone) to that webpage. Not only will google figure out what the source language is (and reveal that) but it'll also translate it.
You can also find the CSC set on the phone and figure things out from there (google for "CSC table" to find a list of CSC's)

You can kind of gauge where it came from based on the firmware it has installed. Take this as a reference...
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/
Search for "N7100".

Thanks.. based on that it appears to come from one of several African/Middle Eastern countries.

Plug your phone to a pc, connect it to kies and you will see your csc therz after the firmware number (the csc is a 3letters code, for example XEF for france, DBT for germany ..)

Where is your T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II Made In?

So, where is your T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Made In? I read somewhere that Verizon's Note 2 is Made in Korea, Sprint's Note 2 is Made in China, AT&T's is Made in China, and T-Mobile's Note 2 is also Made in China. Is your T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Made in China? I believe the CDMA versions are made in Korea whereas the LTE-GSM handsets are Made in China as it is easier for Qualcomm to supply the necessary LTE radio chips to Samsung there.
How to Check:
Remove the battery, and behind the phone there is a white sticker with the IMEI # and FCC Information; below one of the barcodes you will find the country of manufacturing. The battery is usually Made In Korea and Finished In China, from what I've been observing, but that could vary depending on what batch you get. However, the phone has it own country of Manufacturing; this information is on the white sticker that is behind the phone beneath the battery (within the battery compartment). Let us know, thanks.
My sticker says it is made in North Korea.

Hey mine also!!
I found that out after I unrolled all the string from the tin cans.
Man they are clever.
^ Hey, you never know, The parts that make the Note 2 come from various sources and not only "South" Korea (Seoul).
So, where do you look to see where was made?

Mine is made in China.
Don't all of them use the same parts from Samsung?
And if so, does it matter where it's "made"?
All the parts are from Samsung; however, I've experienced quality differences from country-make
However, the US versions should have "virtually" no problems, as the import regulations are strict
In addition, I'm sure carriers don't want to sell defective phones as it will hurt them the most in the long run

Mine's made in china... unless my box is lying to me, too lazy to turn off phone and yank out battery.
In any case, doesn't really matter where it's made... as long as MY device is fine... I could care less about the track record as long as the one I have in my hand works.
Made in China.... disappointed
Tmobile Galaxy Note 2 JediX6 ROM
Don't be; I think the Chinese batch has far lesser issues than what the Verizon-variant has (according to some forum users at the Verizon Note 2 section; Made in Korea) and International Variant (Made in Korea and Vietnam).

[Q] SPH-L900 Russian firmware

Hello ppl,
I want to make my phone that I'll get in May as much Russian as possible. I want it not just to be all Google apps Russian, but all possible apps to be Russian, and so that whenever an update comes out, be it in Russian as well. I guess all I need for that to work is to download a Russian firmware. But is there one? I'm not sure, so I'm asking you. I've been in search for it for so long, I don't want to talk about it. All I want is to make my phone Russian in all ways possible. Thank you.

if you want that much russian, you'll want to look into the international based GN2. I don't know if there is a CDMA international model you'll be able to use on Sprint; I assume not.
If you want to stay with Sprint service, you could probably get most of the apps from someone which an international model. The apps that may be hardware dependent may not work. Some Sprint apps won't have a Russian equavelant such as Sprint TV. If you know how to some programming, you can probably edit the ROM/firmare and translate the rest of the test, such as those withing the phone's setting area.
Honestly, I think it would be easier to get the international model. You can probably find Roms/frimware in Russian. I assume the international is sold someone in the Russian region.
No, I don't know programming, and International version doesn't support CDMA, only GSM. Sucks if there is no any chance to make it Russian...
You might be able to change the language to Russian. There is an app for rooted Samsung phones that unlocks the hidden language files. I installed it once just messing around. I don't know if it has russian listed, or if that will help at all?

I'm afraid, it only enables hidden languages. It doesn't install any. Did you try it yourself? On Sprint's SGNII? Did it work? I don't think so, because I think that the people there at Sprint just wanted to make more free money, and so they just wanted to save some as well, and so asked Samsung to put only 3 default languages. As for me, it's a discrimination against Russians. What if I wanted to send it to Russia after 2 years?
Then you should buy one from that side of the world. Sprint is in the USA why should they worry about other languages besides the dominant ones?

Sometimes I'm just amazed of people that think they're the smartest people in the whole wide world. As far as we all know, there are only "3" versions of SGNII - 7100, 7105, and CDMA. CDMA version was originally made for USA: Verizon, Sprint and US Cellular. I don't think you'll be able to find any other "non-Verizon/Sprint/US Cellular" version of CDMA Note II in the world.
And btw, in the world's point of view, Russian is in fact dominant. Even though it takes only fifth place, it's still one of the most popular languages in the world. After all, Spanish language speak (googled it up) over 406 million people, Chinese - over a billion. Again, if you didn't read/understand it from the first time, it's only if we're talking about world (Quote: "Then you should buy one from that side of the world.")
Once again, a little note about language domination: Native English speakers are only 375 million people.
I mean, if all major nationalities were to make their language official in US, how many languages would there be?
There are no CDMA service providers in Russia, but former USSR - there are a lot of such. I saw one Sprint's phone working there; it was unlocked, and so CDMA phones can and will work there.
I heard something about Cyanogenmod. What can you tell me about that? Should I try that?
And please, don't whine that I'm p... you off, I'm not.
Russian mobile companies use two standards GSM 900/1800 (European standard) and CDMA (American standard). A single cell phone can’t be used in both standards. So, check your phone instruction to find out which standard it is operationg in.GSM is far more popular in Russia and all the leading national operators use it in their networks, CDMA is used only by several local providers (in Moscow, St.Petersburg, Irkutsk), so the biggest problem with CDMA is that you won't be able to use the same telephone in several cities. As most cellular networks in Russia operate in GSM 900/1800 standard, you can use the mobile telephones that support this type of network only.
Seems like to me it would just be easier to have a gsm phone if you wanted to take it to Russia and would be easier to get Russian firmware on it also. ..

LG G4 language change in latest firmware

I don't own a G4 but I'm thinking of buying one and it came to my attention that in the latest fota LG removed Hebrew from all versions except the H815L model which is sold exclusively by one retailer in Israel.
Is this kind of action legal? Is there something that can be done (i.e legally forcing them to revert this course of action such as involving Google in this matter).
If this isn't the right place for this question I apologize
Yes it change automatically but doesnt matter i change it back to english.. Whats the problem..

I don't understand your answer and how is it relevant to my question. What changes automatically? From what I read Hebrew is completely gone from the language selection
I can confirm it... My device was bought from Cellcom and after the OTA update my Hebrew is gone.
the official retailer (Ronlight), said that if your phone is international H815 variant you can bring it to them + including the Purchase Reception.
they would take it for several days and place their rom on your phone.
not sure if its worth it...

That's exactly what I'm asking, is it legal or not? If Google decided that android supports Hebrew, is it legal for LG to decide to remove Hebrew all together from their devices?
Also, what about people who speaks Hebrew and are not living in Israel? They have no way to purchase a phone that supports Hebrew apart from going to Israel?

I was asking a rhetorical question. Like saying why WOULD it be illegal to remove or not add languages? They're not under any obligation to add every language there is.

I understood your answer was rhetorical, I just find it weird that basing your phone on some other company's OS let you change whatever they wish without any questions asked. I'm pretty sure they are bound to Google by some sort of contract. I suppose I need to go to Google help forums and ask this question there since it's not a technical issue but more of a legal question.
The language was there and now it's gone. Someone intervened to make it available only through the carrier.
It might be considered a gray legal area because it's made to try and draw funds towards that carrier and could be considered unfair competition / monopoly.

Samsung pay for Note 10+ not working

Hi all, purchased a Note 10+ for my wife to replace her Note 8. In short, Samsung pay used to work but when setting up everything for the Note 10+, its the only app i cant get working for her.
Says the phone doesnt support it. We are Aust based and i purchased from a Au seller. The website indicates its a AU/NZ model (SM-N975F).
I can get Google pay to work but not sure why i cant get Samsung pay to work.
Ive read about it begin region locked etc but as mentioned, the seller website indicated its a AU model. Also read that factory resetting may work but it was a new phone that i only just setup/restored data etc so dont really want to do all that again if theres no guarantee thats even a plausible answer.
I also read that when setting up the new phone, the simcard needed to be inserted from the very beginning which i did not do. I restored data via samsung switch first before transferring the sim/sd cards.
When i attempted to install an older Samsung pay apk, it goes 1 step further with the intro screens but then says connection issue, try again later.
I did search XDA but could not find any other threads that could help.
Anyone else in the same position with a simple fix that worked, thanks.

I have a similar issue I have a N975W (Canadian) in the UK & can't seem to get SPay for my region, I'm stuck with the Canadian APK/firmware, with yous being a N975F seems it's region locked to Europe but with a Austrian CSC maybe?
In a nutshell until Samsung remove the region restriction for SPay (which they probably will never do) you're out of luck, sorry.

VNZ is New Zealand
It's a New Zealand model, specifically it appears to be a Voda NZ model.
Either way, this is possibly why you can't use Samsung Pay.
Unfortunately, I'm not aware of a way around it.
Perhaps you can get it refunded since it doesn't fully work here?

So I am going to try to flash stock firmware for XSA and see If I cannot get Samsung Pay to work. Not that I will need it really since I'm going to root anyway but its fun. If I get it working, I'll report back.
I flashed the AUS Firmware and Samsung pay seems to work BUT... Grrr. It asks me to sign into my Samsung account. Done. Then it asks how to verify authentication it has a grayed out button to use fingerprint and a button to use pin, and a little spinning blue circle in the center of the screen and that is where it stays. Like its loading something but never loads. The use fingerprint button never lights up, and the use pin button isn't clickable. So close... Any ideas?

Question Xiaomi not sending code to unlock bootloader ?

I have a Pad 5 256GB Global version and can not get verification code from Xiaomi. When using unlock tool it demands a recovery phone number. When I enter a number for a recovery phone it says sending verification code and that is it. It does not send the code. I've used three different phones from different carriers that all work and receive messages daily, it's not the phones causing issue. I then installed older version of unlock tool that would allow me to log in with email and not demand phone number. When using unlock tool and verifying email the damn thing doesn't send the email. I can log in with my email anywhere else on Xiaomi sites but not there. So, no matter how I try it I can not even log in to use unlock tool. I've been dealing with complete idiots in support that keep wanting me to do the exact same thing over and over again. I say idiots because you can't do the same thing the same way and expect different results, if you do then you ... well, you know rest of that. Has anyone else had issues unlocking this god forsaken thing, and if so, solution ? After a week of this crap I'm about tired of it.
Oh, and get this. If you buy a global version in the U.S. there is no support. If you contact U.S. support so you may be able to understand what they are saying. You can spend 5 1/2 hours in a chat trying to find a solution and then all of a sudden you get this:
"I am sorry Tony but Mi Pads are not yet officially released in US. Please be advised As you have reached Xiaomi US Customer support, we can only cater technical concerns and inquiries of the products posted on our web site www.mi.com/us."
They spent 5 1/2 hours coming up with this
if it's not released in your country then there is not much they can do.

I had this issue. It turned out...you choose the country code...and also add the country code too.
Example. Cyprus mobile.
Choose Cyprus.
Cyprus's dial code is 00357.
My mobile (example...) is 99123456.
So put 35799123456.
This took me a week to work out...but it works. Leave too leading 00...and put you country code and mobile number...leaving any leading zero.
Another example. UK mobile. 0044789123456.
Choose UK...and put 44789123456 as you number.
