I have been using Westone 4 with my Galaxy Note. I only listen to sound tracks encoded in Apple Lossless format. Great sounding in-ear monitors. Neutral sound with a lot of details. I wish it had wider soundstage though.

I listen with:
Denon d5000
Akg 702
Beyerdynamic dt880 (new version)
Sennheiser hd700
But they need more power so then i use sometimes a portable amp,
For in ear i have v moda but never listen with them haha
I only use wav or flac music files

Even though i have an i9300 (same dac as note 2) i use the vmoda m100's which honestly best out headphones in the $500 range while costing $300. I have siyah kernel so i use the audio tweaks and it is the best mix of bass, mids, and highs you can get from a portable source w/out an amp.
I'm using beats by dre studio

Sennheiser CX-400-II here. Never tried anything else then Sennheiser but they're awesome.
Using one of several closed cans I have with my Note 2, awaiting a new USB DAC.amp that will work with the Note 2 though - will be getting a Leckterton UHA-6S.MKII and new model Ray Samuels Audio "The Intruder" too (my HeadAmp Pico was working with my US S3, but doesn't with the Note 2 or International S3).
Headphones are usually one of:
Beyerdynamic T5p
Audio Technica W3000ANV
Ultrasone Edition 8
Sometimes use one of my other open-backed headphones when at home with the S3 since these really require amping:
Grado GS1000i
Grado RS1
Audeze LCD-2
(hopefully that is hardcore enough for the OP)
Sennheisser HD25 - robust!!

Anyone tried Klipsch Image S4i, Bose - MIE2 mobile headset, or Beats By Dr. Dre - Monster Solo High-Definition Over-the-Ear Headphones with ControlTalk? (I got the titles off Best Buy). I hear a lot of the more expensive headsets have trouble with phones that are not apple brand. Anyone own any of these and use it with the vibrant? I am running latest axura rom with voodoo enabled, if that matters.
Can anyone skim through the best buy online store and tell me what are the some of the best headphones they carry (preferably with mic but without mic is fine too)? thanks
Best earbuds imo:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001NABXXE/ref=twister_dp_update?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They are on a severe discount now too. As for where it's coming from, I'm an audiophile and did my research on ear canals when I was looking for a pair for my Vibrant. The microphone also works perfect with the phone and can control music players just fine.
This set is a tad bass-heavy, just warning ya. It can handle ANY volume you throw at it too.

I own the Beats by Dre Solo HDs and use them with my Vibrant. The audio is perfect, but I haven't been able to get the Control Talk to work (although I haven't tested them yet with Nero). I definitely recommend them!

If you think the beat by dre are perfect you have alot to learn about audio all they are are heavy bass and crappy mids and highs, people only buy bose and dre **** just because media tells them too when theya re really some of the ****tiest things you can get
and vmoda is tits.
Klipsch s4i is the best out of all in the OP. Etymotic, shure, and ultimate ears also make good headsets in the same price range, not sure if BB carries any of them though. Beats and bose are all marketing, you'll find little in the way of actual sound quality.
Personally I am using ultimate ears triple fi 10s with my vibrant to listen to music, and they are very revealing-the vibrant is not a very good source in this regard. I highly prefer a dedicated DAP with a decent internal amp for optimum sound quality. These are probably out of your price range, though.

If you haven't heard the new MIE2 you shouldn't make a generalization about it. I hope those S4i's last longer than they have for others.
Some Bose are good but all of them way too overpriced for the quality.
Dr. Dre is marketing mostly though, don't get that if you're looking for actual sound quality. If you're looking for bling that looks nice in your ears, get them.
heygrl does the mie2's mic work with vibrant? anyone know if the s4i's mic works with vibrant?

I read some of the reviews and quite a few say they have poor build quality, is this true? one of the reviews said that the manufacturer wouldn't honor the warranty because it was purchased from an Amazon reseller.
anyone with the beats by dre, either solo or tours...do they come with a regular cord and then the one with the control talk? im thinking i can use my sony mw600 bluetooth with the beats without the control talk cord.
thanks.
The earphones that come with the vibrant aren't bad at all for freebies. I'd rather listen to these than the beats or the bose headphones. That said, I don't typically use my vibrant to listen to music with headphones, if listen with headphones i have a dac hooked upto my pc that goes to a hornet headphone amp and a pair of hd650 sen's.
Since I drive to work and don't take public transportation, I find that I rarely am in a position to consume media from my phone in that manner.
I do like the shure se series, you should look into them and see if they're right for you.
I have a pair of klipsch (forgot the model), the sound quality is great. Highs and lows are very clear.

hi. I have a question about galaxy note's sound on a headset. I have right now an AKG noise cancelling headset which sounds very well on my cheap sony walkman. But when used on my galaxy note, i have used Equalizers, to DSP stuff, but i must say, bass don't sound good, it is never as good as my walkman. I tried those beats plug in via CWM but still the sound sucks. I currently use powerplayer app but sounds like ****.
any tips?
You can use power amp, which is a highly regarded music player due to dsp changers, equalizers etc. You have to pay for it though and it won't be as good as say a galaxy s(2) because note uses Yamaha instead of wolfson sound chips

I don't know what everyone's experience is like, but my headphones tend to wear out just past the jack (even the Klipsch s4i). I picked up a cheap pair of Panasonic buds that have a 90-degree jack, and have been vastly more reliable so far. Definitely a criteria I would suggest.

Guys, I will be having a Verizon xperia Play in a few days. I wanted to ask what is your view on sound quality and bass as compared to phones like nexus S?
Well for me sound quality isn't equivalent to the amount of bass. My suggestion is to simply upgrade the headphone for that or buy a phone with hip branding such as DrDre phones.
I care more about clarity and I must say the Play have excellent sound quality, to my ears comparable to the Galaxy S though with smoother signature. I have to say Galaxy S with Voodoo kernel have the edge especially the RMAA test show the S with more accurate responses, but I prefer the way the Play is tuned for the ears. Also the stereo speakers are better.
I am actually not fond of supporting Sony, but if their other phones sound this good with similar smooth sound I might have to consider them for the future because good sounding Android phones are not abundant, especially coming from the Galaxy S.

Thanks buddy for your view on this.
I have a pair of AKG 518 and a Sennheiser HD202 and i gotta say that the best sound quality i've listen is from the iPhone/iPod.
I've never tested the Nexus S, but others phones like Nexus (I don't know how different from Nexus S is), Galaxy SII, Galaxy Ace, and for me, as lekhwani said, the Galaxy is probably a better option with the voodoo kernel (and even wihtout it). The Xperia Play doesn´t have a bad sound quality, but does not satisfied a person who is looking for the best sound quality in music.
If you care more about the music than the games and you don´t have enough money, you should probably go for an iPhone 3G.
Talking about headphones, if you really like a heavy bass, the Dr. Dre Beats Audio headphones are good, but if you really want to listen to a better and clear audio you should try something from AKG, Sennheiser or AIAIAI (go to a BestBuy and try yourself).
In my personal opinion Xperia Play sound quality is not good enough, not even with apps like poweramp or walkman player. The only really good thing in the XPlay is the stereo speaker.
Why are you exactly getting an Xperia Play?

Of course Xperia Play has the loudest sound in smartphones world because it has 2 speakers
But when talking about the purity, I think there are phones have a purer sound
i've actually tested the xperia play vs my brothers galaxy nexus and the play actually had better mids and highs with better overall sound.
i'm in music production and used both hd-650's and yamaha hs-50's.

Guys, I received mine about a few hours back. I am very much impressed with the build quality.
But seems I have some problem. Mine did not come with earphones. I have tried several others earphones and headphones. The sound seems muffled and abnormal and bass is completely missing and lyrics are very low. .
I researched a bit and found that my phone might have one of these issues.
1.Faulty Device, or
2.Proprietary Xperia Play Earphones needed.
I used extreme bass on Power AMP but saw no bass. Also used equalizer app to no avail.
I tried brainwavz, skull candy, creative, philips, lg, Sony Ericsson Xperia pro mk16i earphones. But the sound was not much different in any of these.
Kindly suggest me what do?
You need to get some xperia play earphones or an adapter
It should be fine with regular stereo headphones, but for headset it must be Sony.

I tried Xperia pro earphones also. No difference.
Can a adapter or original Xperia play earphones make any difference?
Or, do I have a faulty device?

Music Player with headphones
Music player with Portable DAC
Music Player with DSEE HX turned on
USB audio Player Pro with DAC
