Hey guys how much space would a typical cwm backup take? I hav sround 2.5 gig free on my external sd card.. is that sufficient?
Also, will it erase the int device memory (16gb) when I do a wipe or only the root folder?

It will take around ±3 gigs
No it will not wrase internal device memory
Mine are averaging 3.8gb in size and I don't have that many apps installed compared to a lot of people.
I would say you need at least 3.5 gb free, maybe as much as 6gb if you have a lot of apps and/or large games.
Ya.. I have lots of large games... Im gonna need ti empty my card before backup..
And ur sure abt the internal memoey erase? Cant afford to loose it.!

I got a 16GB class, 10 memory card. I made a partition if 1gb and 0mb swap. Is that correct? What does the swap really help with?
I tried Google but couldn't really understand it properly. Someone can explain it to me in layman's terms? ^_^

That's a good size. Now install data2sd by jikanturu and you have more internal memory.
good enough?

Can you provide the link to Data2SD? All the ones I found were deleted off of mediafire D:
Search Data2SDInstallerNXE2.zip and you'd get your desired thing on androidforums.com
Else pm me your email and I'd send you the zips....

Swap is fake ram. With class 10 SD card you had to use at least 128mb-256mb because wfs have only 512mb ram
Don't bother with swap, you don't need it. Swap is just using disk space as RAM. But since the SD card is significantly slower than RAM (even if it is a class 10), you won't be having a good time. I've got like 120 apps installed on my phone and I still have 100+MB of RAM available. You don't need swap. As for sd-ext, don't bother with all the many different scripts, the easiest way is just to download S2E from the Play Store, it does it all for you
do we need swap? http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Swap_and_Compcache
It's up to your choice.
my sdcard has 128mb swap.

Hi, I have a 4GB (Class 10) memory card. (872 MB -Ext4 Partition, 700 MB -Linux Swap and 2300 MB on Standard Partition) and using Link2SD. I have installed 30 apps and got only 45MB internal memory left.
But I see you got more internal memory.
1. How is this possible?
2. Can I now move on to S2E? If yes then how?
Thanks.

The best way to do it would be to backup all your apps and data with titanium backup, then reinstall your rom from scratch. Make your sd-ext partition bigger if you wish, then install S2E, let it mount your sd-ext and then restore everything with titanium backup.

well if you r having any doubts you can back up ur SD card's contents & Format it .....
If you're like me and you always make backups in cwm when flashing new roms etc, then check the the backups folder under clockworkmod on your sd card. Those backup imgs are huge and can add up. I freed up a few gig by deleting the ones I didn't need.

I did every thing except this one.. didnt cross it to my mind.. ill givve thanks if it helps.
I have been researching ways to save space on the internal sd card. Feel free to add a few.
Move Google music cache to ext sd. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYFw9bEAzM8
i couldnt watch the whole video haha... something about the dude annoyed the hell out of me.
as far as saving a little space though you can also delete any system audio files such as the alarms and ringtones youll never use anyways. I also used titanium backup to delete all system apps and bloatware I dont use.
quick question. How much storage do you guys usually had left after full wipe and flashed new rom? Mine only has about 3gb left is that normal?

I have nearly 7gb... Make sure any backups are on the external SD card as well... These backups take a lot of space and by default are stored internally.. At least with TWRP they are.

A lot of camera apps including the stock app store images on the internal phone storage. I usually set the the storage to external sd in the settings (if available). If the options not available, a smali edit can be made (if im not mistaken) or, transfer the images to sd when they build up

How do you access the ext from twrp? I was trying to figure that out.

Twrp > Backup > Storage: ... (its a button under the "set backup name" and "refresh sizes" button). Click that and change it to micro sd card.
So last night I rooted my Note 2 (t889), installed titanium pro (froze bloatware), installed rom manager and set CPU. All of a sudden my phone is telling me i have no storage space avaliable. It is saying all my internal storage is used up and even tho it says i have 10+gb available on my 32gb sd card, its also stating that the SD card is full as well.
Can someone provide some insight. I dont understand. The phone was rooted and bloatware frozen how can all my storage all of a sudden be eaten up.
Thanks,
Bump please help this is irratating. I cant do many things with 0 memory
Chances are you froze something you shouldnt have. Defrost them all and start over 1 at a time

Use some kind file manager and check where space is used on internal storage and internal sd card. I think by default titanium backup saves copy of backup to internal sd card not your external 32 gig sd card.

Defrost all the apps you you froze then reboot. And check again

Guys any tutorial or trick to make SD card the internal sd storage ?
I cannot manage all the games and apps in only 4 GB internal sd space given .
Moreover There are some problem in having internal sd (4 GB) . Like all the app backsup in that 4 GB space only which is not possible . Like whatsapp and moreover cwm also makes backup in that 4 gb space n which is not good in case someday I brick my phone etc etc.
So I want to swap between internal sd and external sd card . If anyone knows how to do it then please comment.

Alright bro...first..
Cwm makes folder in extSD card/clockworkmod/backup/*here*..
Second...as I see...ur main problem might be HD and big games with data..(If that is the scene, ) try gl2sd app..that will move ur game data to sdcard..and mount it whenever u want to play game..(simple as hell )..
NOTE: you have to keep a data first in phone memory, then it will move to SD card!(don't pit in sdcard directly)..
Hope I helped

the old method is change the mount point in /etc/vold.fstab but it doesn't work with this Emulated storage feature

u can use link2sd for link all ur apps to 2nd partition in external card ..and u can use folder mount app for mount media ,data folder like
whats app and others apps to ur external card ..these two app can save much wanted space in our grand ..and yes gl2sd for games data
also a useful app..
:good:
