Hi guys,
i'm looking for a solution/mod to get my new note 2 into a "non increasing ringtone" mode.
but i don't want to flash a customrom (not now). is it possible to get an update.zip, which i can flash via recovery?!
i want immediately have 100% ringtone volume with my note 2!
can anybody of the cookers help me please?
best regards
martin
Does the device physically limit the volume and then increase the volume as it ringd? Or is it just your particular ring tone that starts out low and increases in volume? Did you try downloading, or installing another ring tone and test the volume on it?

If its like the s3 the phone makes it ring that way. I too do not like that and I was hoping someone would know how to change it.
I believe you need to be rooted. I noticed a thread on fixing this in the development section.

Stupid question...
Is there any way to increase the base volume level on the Incredible? Listening to podcasts via the speaker phone is sometimes challenging in certain environments. I would like to be able to increase the levels if possible.
Anyone know if this is possible?
I also would like to increase the volume on this , Bluetooth and inbound calls.

Same, but for all audio out.
There was an app called LVH (Louder Volume Hack) in the market that I purchased when I had my Eris that worked PERFECTLY for this on CM5/CM6/Stock Sense. But the app doesn't appear to work on my Incredible. Which sucks Because I LOVED being able to crank the headset/bluetooth volume.. I would love to see something like this working on the inc..
!EDIT! Apparently I just didn't try enough times because I got the app working on the official OTA 2.2! The app appears to work but I do not think the volume is actualy being increased.. gonna try the 4.0 Beta.
Devs Page: http://androidaudiohacks.com/home/
LVH Apparently Doesn't work for DINC!
Hi Guys,
Purchased the LVH from Meltus, thinking that with root, I'd have no problem using it, but while it did run, and say it had successfully pushed the proper values, it didn't seem to increase the volume. I wrote the dev, & he told me it doesn't work with the Droid Incredible :-(
His site: http://androidaudiohacks.com, does have disclaimers and info indicating the app is for earlier phones like the G1, and Saphire, and doesn't work on Droid, or branded android phones, but not clear enough for idiots like me! He also said in his reply that Google had locked access to the volume files on later phones, and so increasing the volume requires modifying the kernel.
Incredibles are known for blowing out their own speakers. I recommend avoiding this.my speaker is a little blown just with normal use. I now play audio 2 clicks from max volume.

I've been looking for the same thing. Took a trip a week ago and could not hear a movie with my earphones on the plane ride. I just found a new post last night in the "themes and apps" sub forum titled Audio/Equalizer. It has a this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=783737 to a DSP equalizer you can install. You must be rooted. Works well for me with a modest gain in volume and improved sound quality. You can simply put the zip in the root directory of your sd card and use clockwork mod to install the zip. (you may have to toggle signature verification off first). Just make sure to do a Nandroid backup first in case you encounter a problem.
Thanks guys! You both ROCK!

I didn't know about the speaker issue. My interest has been more focused on use with headphones, and in-call, which is a different speaker than the one I believe you are referring to.
I noticed the sound from the Incredible rear speaker was quite a bit higher fidelity than on other HTC phones I've owned, which may account for its being a bit more fragile, but that's just speculation. I'll be a lot more careful with it.

That sounds like it might just do it. Thanks for the links, and instructions, too. I'll definitely give it a try, and reply back to this thread with my experience.
My best to both of you. This is just another example of why xda developer's forums totally ROCK!
Hello Guys,
Can you guys please go to the following link and star that problem, to see if Google can do something about correcting this issue.
this low volume is the biggest complaint about staying stock.
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=35084
Why not just use Franco kernel and use volume boost... I just hate filing complaints.
-tapped from my paradigm Franco kernel Galaxy nexus
I have the same problem with a nexus galaxy with jellybean 4.1.1
I found a soluction in web that talk of change a string in system\build.prop
"ro.config.vc_call_vol_steps=" and change its value to 10.
But my problem is that in my build.prop the string there isn't.
How i can solve the low volume on my nexus?
Volume+ (volume boost) don't work, it crash at start
Bump!
If any of you guys have time, please Star that topic.
I know it can easily be fixed via rooting the device or what not.
But i'm kind of over the whole rooting scene in a way and just want to stay stock.
but it bugs me that if my nexus is in my pocket or if im not in a quiet room i can barely hear anything.
i also emailed the google play support team, hopefully they will reply.
i've owned way too many google devices for them to just ignore us like that.
best believe if this issue is not resolved via software update, sad to say but i will be switching over to ios.
reply back from Google Play.
I guess they cant do anything about it.. This sucks.
Hi JC,
Thanks for your response back. I can understand how annoying it can be to
experience low volume on your phone device and having to wait for the
development team to come out with an OTA to fix the issue. Unfortunately,
this information isn't available to us since it's being handled by the
Android development team. I recommend you report the issue directly to the
development team. Here's how you can report platform bugs:
http://developer.android.com/support.html
There is also a chance that the issue might be something Samsung might be
able to either repair or perform a replacement for; depending on how long
you've had your device. If you'd like, you're welcome to give us a call
and we can see if this will help. I'm providing a link to our click to
call below:

If you have any other questions or concerns, please reply back to this
email and I'll be happy to help further.

If you are just referring to Music / Video audio volume you might want to check out this app.. I haven't tried it.. I'm running CM10 which sounds great...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.omegacentauri.SpeakerBoost&hl=en
I can understand the stock mentality but with a couple adjustments you will get a better than stock - stock experience...
Personally If I wanted to stock-ish, I would flash the stock rom, root, install trinitystable35 kernel, install trickster mod, adjust headphone volume only and then set superuser to deny any root attempt by default without a prompt...

If you wanted to add that to your build.prop, you could download Build Prop Editor from the Playstore, create a key named ro.config.vc_call_vol_steps, and give it the value 10. At your own risk, of course.
Do they even test this stuff? It's beyond unacceptable to have a speaker this inaudible. Makes me want to throw my phone every time I try to watch a video.
I added my two cents to the link.

Download to computer. Extract with 7zip. Move entire media folder to sd and replace/merge current media folder. Might get warning staying device cannot play some files. Ignore. They work.

Cyanogenmod is the Way...
I also has got version 4.2.1 and I stock ROM is just fine for me, I never liked CM, but I have got root. A have got problem with volume too, do not hear SMS in my pocket at all.
I did not find the solution, Volume+ boost app still do not work with JB (hopefully will work soon) and Speaker Boost still "stop working", even the old versions.
So, do you know any other solution?
JB 4.1.1 Low volume issue resolved - at lease for me
i had the same issue when i upgraded my stock S3 to 4.1 -- the speaker volume was very low in Nav and music players.
Increasing the "Media" volume fixed it for me.
click on the volume button (up or down) and then click on the settings icon at the end of the slider. Now slide the "Media" volume to the highest.
Everything is back to normal -- in nav audio and speaker phone etc.
If you have not already tried this, you can give it a try ... it might fix it!

I had got problems with ringing and notifications, so this is not solution for me, BUT found another one, Ringtone Maker.
I have upgraded to cm10.1 with jb 4.1.2.....I did the nightly builds for 01-02-2013...
the volume is horrendous.... even worse than stock. I don'tknow what else to try. hopefully it will be fixed in the next night builds......full speakerphone volume soundslikeit's coming from the headsetat full volume.... and the headset volume at full is barely audible even in s quiet room. I turned on the boost in strings but it did nothing. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

also....just curious.... is it normal fir cm10 to take up about 6gb of internal memory? I tried clearing everything out buteven after a clean install that is what it takes up.

Hello guys,
I have bought my galaxy nexus yesterday and it is working really great. But to my dismay,it has almost non-existant speaker volume.I don't know about my incoming messages and I miss all my calls because I cannot hear the phone ringing. This phone is running stock jelly bean 4.1.2
Now my question is probably already answered in this forum, but I get confused with so many solutions.I am willing to root, unlock and what not if someone can give me the correct instructions.I just want my phone to have audible speaker volume for sms, calls, movies and songs.
I would prefer that my phone remains as stock as possible so I can recieve the OTA updates too,so please avoid telling me solutions that involve custom roms.If custom rom is the only solution tell me how to have ota updates too.
Thanks in advance
without knowing how loud it is, it is possible there is something wrong with the speaker. you should verify that it is functioning properly before rooting it and playing with custom roms. Mine is currently stock and volume is great imo

Well I can't think of a way to accurately describe how loud it is,lets say I have the loudest ringtone that I play both on my neo v and nexus. It makes me jump when it rings on neo v.But on nexus its like a whisper,
About playing with custom roms,I specifically said in my original post, that I don't actually want custom rom solution.I wanna stay stock for ota updates

What volume fix? Can u link me to it?
I am running the jedi 6x rom and my audio quality is terrible. When I'm on the phone it almost sounds like the speaker is blown, even when I just play music it sounds terrible. Is there something I can do to fix it?

Have you tried a clean re-install to make sure in some a software issue.
If it's you hardware see if you can get it replaced or repaired under warranty. You'll need to go back to stock though.
I am also using the same rom and I too have the same problem. Earpiece and speaker are crackling when there is an "S" sound. I dropped my phone in water a minth ago so I assumed I damaged the speakers but reading people having same problem changed my mind.
I think it's because the volume of the rom is high? I dont know. I hope its a software issue not hardware.....

Ya. I tried a stock rom and it had the same issue. I have tried different roms and kernels and I am still having this issue. I thought at first that it was not that bad, but it is becoming incredibly annoying. Would flashing that ac!d mod thing change anything?

I have the same issue... on some songs it even does it while its quiet. The sound is there if the volume is over 80%, and it does it through the built in speaker and external.

It could be that somehow you''ve had an extreme sound mod applied without realizing it. This is the thread that shows how to edit the default_gain.conf file yourself and you can check your own file against EdgaBimbam's Ultra, Mid, Normal, and Stock Templates. It's pretty easy to do. Open the files up in a program like Notepad+ and compare them. As each device is a bit different, the settings that make my phone sound good may make yours distort.
The other thing that springs to mind is to see if you are using a kernel (such as Perseus) that has a (different) sound mod embedded in it - referred to as Voodoo Sound. Perseus comes with an utility called STweaks and it has an audio page that has a bunch of settings on it including an equalizer. I think it is all enabled by default. There are several of the settings that can cause distortion or help to remove it if I understand it correctly.

This may be the case. Although it did it while stock, the volume has always been extremely loud, even in comparison to my other phones with multiple sound mods. Ill give it a shot and see what happens.

Hi everyone,
I am looking for a mod to lower notifications, as I find them to be very loud and I fear I'm going to get a heart attack one day just because my phone will remind me of an appointment or will let me know I've got a new text.
I know there is a volume step mod, I've tried it and it appears it has no effect between the silent and first volume step compared to stock.
I know I could also edit the sounds in GWave (or any other software) But I'm already tired doing this!
So I was wondering if such a mod already exists, and if someone could give me a link I haven't found yet... Otherwise I'll try to edit the notif. sounds myself (decrease the volume, let's say to 25% - that seems pretty high enough to me!) and post a zip here if anyone shows interest for it...

I'd be interested if you could do this and combine it with the volume steps mod to go from really quiet to full loudness over 20/30 steps.
Sent using xda app on ViperOne.
I'm guessing you're probably going to have to edit them yourself. I see you mentioned a program called GWave. Another good one I use (I'm a DJ and record continuous mixes & burn them to CD's) is called Audacity.
Volume Butler seems to working ok
