Help about root - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I tried rooting my note 2 twice, didn't work out. Every thing is ok but the device still show the stock recovery instead Os cwm.
Any ideas?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2

depends on how you tried to root. If you used cf auto root from chainfire then it does not come with the cwm recovery. If you use chenglu's method then it will come with cwm recovery. check to see if you have the superSU app. If you do then you may already be rooted, then it's just a matter of installing the cwm recovery separately.
This info is available on the note 2 original Android development forum
good luck

I didn't find the supersu app, I tried twice with totally different methods, using mac os which went smoothly with no errors, uploaded recovery.img.
The 2nd time i tried with odin on a windows pc, the phone connected, file uploaded correctly but yet not rooted.

Root is not CWM,plz read dr ketan thtead carefully, if u want root + CWM plz go with method 2 chenglu CWM

Odin fail with stock rom!

This picture shows my problem. i want to fully unroot OR just get rid of this custom rom and get back to my original stock firmware (ics 4.0.4)
WHAT DO I DO?? it keeps failing when i flash
I don't see your phone recognized in the id:com field.
help to un-root GS3 & get stock rom back
I recently had a problem with Autostarts app causing crashes on my Samsung Galaxy S3 & had to unroot & do a master reset.
I use the YouTube video from qbking77 to do the un-root & it worked fine. I used Odin v7 to do the un-root but had to use Odin v4 to re-root my phone after master reset.
Hope it helps.
I can't post links yet but if you go to YouTube & find user qbking77, he has a step by step video on how to unroot your Samsung GS3.
The video was Published on Jun 29, 2012 & is titled "How to Unroot / Unbrick the Samsung Galaxy S III - Latest"
Seems like you are not connecter to pc... Are you running Kies? If you are close it.

Try a different usb port and make sure you are using the cable that came with the phone

Odin fails stock rom error binary
So I been at this for weeks. I have a note 4. The phone has been rooted before. Then i flashed it back to stock.. It was all fine.. Then started to act up and freeze or not reset. So what I've tried now.. I've tried a stock rom via odin. Fails saying binary. I've tried kies. Kies says doesn't support connected device. I am not using the original cable it came with. I'm using a s7 edge cable. I don't see why that should matter. I finally managed to get by some magical 100x attempt got twrp recovery to flash via odin. So after that I decided to install roms via sd in twrp. All the roms I've tried have the same outcome. They install perfectly.. Twrp says successful. I hit reboot system. Phone goes off.. Doesn't come back on. .. I need some help plz. Nothing is working.

On top of that. After any kinda attempt I make. (since they all don't work, resulting in removing the battery) I will try.. Entering download mode.. Recovery mode.. Doesn't really matter what.. The phone won't respond to the command.. I generally will have to wait longer than 30secs.. Sometimes even 10mins to get the phone to start reading those commands again.
Which version of Odin are you using? Are you using stock ROMs from sammobile.com? Are you using a USB 2 port? Try using an original Samsung USB 2.0 cable with Odin.

Newest version of odin which Is 3.11 I believe... I'm using a 2.0usb. Which is what the note 4 is as well. The note 3 was the bigger one.. Not the note 4. I got the stock roms from sammobile and the custom roms from off xda. And I'm using my s7 edge cable which is the Samsung manufacturers Original brand.. 2.0 usb.

Flashing stock rom 4.4.4 kitkat.. Because I was told I'd have a better chance.. However I am on Odin 3.11 .. Twrp is 2.8.1.1.. I did that because when I had this phone rooted before.. That's what version I was using.. But when I flash the stock rom via odin.. I get binary fails showing on the phone.

My most favorite thing that happens.. That I can't explain reason of why. Is after I try to flash a rom..whether it be through odin or twrp. Odin fails.. Twrp just doesn't reboot after a successful flash... I have to take out the battery and retry.. I cannot get an instant boot.. I've waited.. 30secs.. Few mins.. Sometimes even 30mins and it won't come back on... Now I can't explain why it does that... Because if I give it x amount of time to rest with battery out.. It will work again.. Sometimes I can even do it right after a failed flash. I honestly don't know why or could tell you any more than because of this wait times in between.. I am limited to as many attempts as I'd like to do. Or sometimes I forgot what order or new attempt I wanna try.

Phone not booting after Odin Flash. Help?

So heres the back story:
The phone had CWM Recovery and had CM 10.1 nightly but I was unhappy with it.
I tried to flash from odin using the root66 pre rooted UVDJA rom
Didn't boot. It got to the Samsung bootanimation and just keeps glowing.
Tried root66 UVALJ4 same thing no dice
What can I do?
I assume I'm missing something and I still have Odin so I know I'm pretty sure I'm not totally boned.
In Odin I am clicking PDA and loading the .tar.md5 from the root66 .7z and clicking start.
Thanks
Fun story. I went into recovery and wiped and it works... Meh.
Thanks guys
BEST BET YOUTUBE OR GOOGLE QBKING77 ROOT S3 HE HAS EVERY CORRECT METHOD
I posted a response how to fix this
In another thread
Just download the stock jellybean tar file for t999 S3 QBKING77 VID SHOULD LEAD U TO FILES U NEED
Make sure to Uncheck all 3 boxes In Odin and rename the file delete the. Md5 it should be just
. Tar
Once odin says pass pull battery and reboot
Don't mess with flashing a custom odin rom just find a stock 4.1.1 with or without root
The best root method is using root from recovery zip when rooting I don't use the tool kit crap.
And ditch cwm that why it's jacked
Use twrp recovery download goo manager from market
Initially u have to flash cwm to root after u flash cwm. tar Then you download Goo manager and hit menu and install open recovery script then u have twrp recovery
Start fresh is your best bet

Your first mistake was not making a nandroid backup and u should have flashed a zip rom if u wanna play with roms not odin. Odin is Mainly good to revert to stock, ROOT or fix a bricked phone
always flash roms with just zips

Or try to download a rom zip on pc
Transfer it via usb to the s3 internal memory
First reboot Into cwm mount usb and transfer the rom of choice u download on the pc
If u have cwm still u may be good just be sure to wipe data, dalvic and cache first.
Choose install

[Q] Flash Stock Rom

Ok so here is my problem. I rooted my Galaxy S3 a year ago, everything worked fine. I disabled some system apps because I had no use for them, not deleted just disabled, using NoBloat. Well I upgraded to the S4 active and am selling my S3. I figured Id do a factory reset and completely forgot abot the disabled apps, one of which was the home screen. I can access the settings and notification bar, I can boot into recovery and download mode. I do not have a keyboard tho. I have tried to reflash the stock firmware which i downloaded from sammobile and Have used both odin and the recovery mode manual upgrade, both fail. Any help or direction would be excellent.

Ok I think I got it. as I was replying to you I remembered I have a bluetooth keyboard. Luckily I was able to pair it and I was then able to email myself a launcher which then showed me all my apps and now i reinstall nobloat and I can enable all the disabled apps. Thank you.
Just a suggestion but if it works donate and give the donate key to the person that buys your phone

[Q] Need Help In Restoring to Stock Rom

Hey guys, I've been using the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 since half a year or so. A few months back i rooted my phone using Odin3-v1 and installed CWM via Rom manager. I then installed Cyanogenmod 10.1 and Everything seemed to go according to plan. My phone worked great.
But recently Cyanogenmod released the Unofficial 10.2 nightly which was based on 4.3 and unknowingly i downloaded the update and i have 4.3 running on my note 2 now.
At first i thought it was pretty decent but then i found out that i had lost my root option. whenever i tried to open the super su app it said ' There is no binary installed for 4.3, I should re-root my device manually'.
So i figured i might just have to root my phone again.
I went and rooted my phone via Odin3-v1( the same software i used initially to root my phone) but that just made things worse.
I had not failed to get my root access again but now i don't have CWM installed on my phone.
I tried installing it again via rom manager but that didn't work..
So now.. i'm stuck with this. I don't have root options and i don't know how to manually re root. I have no idea how to get CWM back.
I just want to get out of this mess and get back to stock rom.
I'm running cm10.2(running 4.3).
Please help me!
Thank you.:good:
Try installing a prerooted rom. I like miui but the official version is based on 4.1.1.
Or dr ketan's prerooted 4.3 leak rom

Bricked Note 2 - help needed

Hello
Got a Note 2 (N7100), boots up to the Samsung Logo and stays like that, basically that's called a soft-brick?
I'm familiar to Odin flashing, custom recovery flashing and so on - what are the steps to be done here?
Is there anything like a stock recovery ROM you can point me at, that i can flash using ODIN & the steps to follow?
Thanks very much, really appreciated

Download mode > flash philz v5.00.5 through odin > download custom rom > go to recovery > flash the custom ROM > when everything works you can choose to keep using the rom or to get a stock one from Sammobile.

Shouldn't I install a stock rom first (using PIT file + repartition, if it doesn't boot up without repartition ticked - for example) ?
Thanks a lot for your help

The method I put is the extra safe method so u won't be bothered with hard stuff, do it and it should work, or at least just get out of the bootloop u r into.

Many thanks, just worried because i got the phone in this condition for a very affordable price and wanted to fix it someone after reading here on the forum that it's really hard to permanently damage a Note 2 phone, especially when the Samsung Logo boots up.
Hopefully it will work properly after i try the offered method

Also please remember that you need philz 5.00.5 not the latest one, the latest one won't boot (not for me) and philz 5.00.5 is a very successful version of philz.
