I've bought an MHL adaptor from Amazon and was just wondering if it will charge from the HDMI source when it's connected or if it will be entirely reliant on battery? I heard that the new 11 pin standard supports charging but want to check that this is the case from someone who has one.
Also, I bought one marketed as for the S3 - am I right in assuming that the Note II will carry the same MHL standard?
Thanks guys
Note 1 and note 2 use the same MHL adapter, and it doesnot support charging over MHL,it needs the normal usb charger to Be connected while usage.

Last time I checked the Note 2 uses the Galaxy S3 MHL adapter (see atleast 10 vids on youtube and check other threads here)?
As you can hear in the video "The Note 1 MHL adapter wont work on the Note 2"
So I figure/guess that it also charges since the S3 also does that.
Oh my god, it seems that u r right man ,even though they look the same but there will be an available solution for that soon,i hope so..

The MHL adapter for the Note 2 is the same as the one for the S3, it requires a charging input is plugged into the adapter, and will charge the Note 2 when connected. Depending on what you are doing however the charge will either trickle charge the Note 2, maintain steady state, or cause slow drain of the device (for example playing N64oid/FPse/high bitrate 1080p video will cause slow drainage of the battery despite the charging input).
But why the hell many sellers state that s2 and note mhl is same as s3 and note 2 mhl ?

I think in most cases it will be because they assumed they would work with the S3/Note 2 since MHL is meant to be a connection standard, some sellers aren't aware of the change in pin configuration in the MHL connections for Samsung's flagships this year.
Some might just be dishonest...

Correct. NFC is pretty much the only beneficial feature of the crippled derpbeast known as the SGH-I717 (AT&T Note).
I hope my next gnote, the gnote 2, will have the NFC chip.
From what I understand its possible to implement in a battery or sim card. That way you can retrofit it to older devices.

Sorry don’t confuse NFC Reader/Writer and tag, it’s hardware problem if your device doesn’t have the chipset inside , you can’t read or write NFC, but in opposite you can add a NFC tag on every mobile you want , but the tag must be already write but will not interact with your mobile exemple: you get a NFC tag with you contact information, every mobile or device NFC enabled will be able to receive your contact information but this not coming from your mobile is coming from the tags you get …
I hope i be clear
PS: we work in RFID (let say ancestor of NFC) for more than 5 years

nice! if it only had hdmi out too. But I dont think the micro usb slot can handle otg and mhl simultaneously.
This in conjunction with the WiFi Display Hub will be fantastic.

OTG has been around for a while now....
Here's me rocking it on my S2.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCrecOR34Fs&feature=g-upl
I know Samsung made the 11 pin micro USB to use MHL and OTG accessories the same time because it was impossible before, and everyone says you can't use both over a normal hub so when the Hell is Samsung gonna release an accessory to do that, because they have delays on Allshare cast, MHL converter adapter(in some countries) and you can't game on Tv with wired controller, mouse, keyboard etc until Samsung bother to release it all, I mean I'm really getting pissed off having a phone capable of so much but right now just feels like an S2 with a bigger screen.
I got the connection kit for the Galaxy S3, it is infact made for the Galaxy S2, but works perfectly fine on the Galaxy S3.
Here is a review I did of it and the MHL adaptor. Sadly they didn't work together(one can wish)

Some please answer the above question. I want to use the microusb port to charge the phone and still use the other ports for mouse/keyboard/flashdrive/etc.
Also, it looks awkward to have large thing hanging off the phone so will this still work through a microusb extension cable?

Can you confirm that you can use one usb port to charge the phone while using the other port for OTG? I recently asked this question on MobileFun's video on this product and someone seemingly from the company says it can't.

Does anyone know if this will also work with a tablet running Jelly Bean etc?

I've got a gs3 and a nexus 7, two questions on this:
1) Do you need to plug any dongle into the phone (or tablet)?
2) Does this work with the Nexus 7 too?
No need to plug anything in your phone, only hdmi from the dongle to your tv and a power cord. As it uses sgs3 or note 10.1 own allshare cast ability you won't be able to start the mirroring from a out of the box galaxy nexus or nexus 7, no allshare on pure android.

Im actually on Nexus 7 4.2.2 + Kensuke miracast mod. Samsungs Allshare Cast Dongle is fully workling with Nexus 7!
I think it should work provided your phone has the allshare cast app.

allshare cast or miracast is said to work as mentioned beforehand. stock nexus does not have allshare cast app as no TW framework. and btw, good to hear that it works with Nexus 7 as I just got mine (2013 version).

Has anyone come across a USB OTG adapter that can also be used to charge the Note 10.1? I wouldn't want it to require power, but if there were an optional ability to plug the power cable into the USB adapter, it would allow charging and use of the USB device at the same time...

OP, you can charge the GN 10.1 while using OTG cables if you have the special Samsung dock for the GN 10.1, which is expensive and hard to find right now; this special dock has an additional 30 PIN connector in the back into which you can plugh OTG cables.

Where does the charger connect here?
This is just a stand. There is no usb or mhl port here.
That's a shame
Thanks, guys...
I just order the Juiced OTG.
The reviews on Amazon say it works with the Note 10.1 and there are a few YouTube videos of people using it with their Note 10.1. You have to use a micro USB cable and not the Samsung USB cable to charge it.
Oh, I like that. Thanks! Just ordered one from Amazon UK. Looks identical, £1.39 delivered. I have no idea how they can possibly sell it so cheaply but since amazon is underwriting it I guess I can't lose... Amazing!

The best option would be to get a bluetooth keyboard and mouse and allshare. This way you can have the Note plugged while using all the rest. And when you want to use a usb you unplug it and then plug it again. This is what I do. It is quite expensive to get all the above but at least they work.
The Ekit is the identical item of the Juiced USB OTG

Thanks for the info but I am a little confused.
The DA-E570 has a pin for apple devices and a pin for android phone devices but the note has it's own unique connector which I think sucks.
Why doesn't it just have the same connector as my Galxy S4??
Will the DA-E570 dock and charge my note 10.1 tablet? If so can I play music through the connector or have to use blue tooth?
I have a grace digital which I use for my S4 and love it. Wish the note had the regular android connector. If I knew it didn't I prob wouldn't have boguht it.

Going to soon find out how it works because I bought a new one on Ebay for $50 bucks, will let everyone know how it works when it arrives.
.
Just get the Samsung universal dock and buy the speakers separately. That way if one part breaks or if you ever get a device with a different connector you do not have to replace the entire sistem. Also, you can place the speakers better in the room (or get surround sistem instead of just stereo), run the 3.5mm cable to the dock (or several different docks) and use different devices with the same speakers (tablet, phone, mp3 player, friend's phone, etc.).
