So recently ive been having really bad battery life and i think i stuffed my battery. I lose 6% in 5 minutes of just scrolling around the home screens.
I have tonnes of battery saving tweaks installed. I set voltages to -75.
Only thing that is bad for my battery is that im on 1.2 ghz performance, i tried alot of other governors but no improvement.
So im guessing i stuffed my battery, maybe because of old age.
Is there a way i can fix this or should i get a new batt ??
P.S, i lost 4% writing this.

If it's truly that bad, I think you need a new battery
Have you tried re-calibrating, wiping battery stats, or flashing a stock rom?
Cola rom gives me RIDICULOUS amounts of battery life, I swear I could go 40 days and 40 nights on 1 charge lol

Well I don't reccomend the performance governor unless you're on a charger I would use Smartass v2 or InteractiveX
Stock BST-41 batteries only cost £4
Performance keeps the phone at max clock speed most of the time doesn't it? If so, that's really bad for the phone and also the battery. Your battery tweaks may also be doing more harm than good, try removing them and see if there's a difference.

in wiped stats n i changed to smartass v2.
no difference
If nothing will work then get ORIGINAL new battery.

I just don't see why people get extended batteries when kernels now days are supporting my battery all day dragging on into the mornings.. i guess every phone reacts differently.

I've tried all the hottest kernels and battery saving tricks and still average only 8hrs under real world use
Running Evo Deck 1.2.1, display at 12%, couple widgets, data off (using wifi at home) , sync off, and all of that. Underclocked, undervolted too.
Browsing, xda app, etc results in 20% battery usage per hour. Battery consumption is zero at idle, but drops like a rock if i use the phone at all.

SD card cache set to 8192 on my class six
Brightness on auto
I get 20+ hours of heavy use, xda, music, browsing I'm sixteen so my girlfriend is ALWAYS texting me some pandora, youtube tossed in there
Oh and I'm using a live wallpaper (pixel rain) I keep sync on, gmail hourly everything else daily, weather on the half hour, right now my phone is at 17 hours with 38 percent left.

Maybe my batteries are shot - their health shows "good " though. I have two OEM 1500 batteries that I swap, but I did buy an HTC 2150mAh, just waiting on my battery cover to arrive before I use it.

Battery calibration is very important, don't know how I lived without it
Setting the VM heap to 48 allows the dalvik garbage collector to run less, improving battery
Chainfire 3d helps with anything graphical, makes home using lwps smoother, games run better etc, also saves battery by making all animations, graphics processing more efficient
If you use apps2sd bumping the cache makes it faster, and more efficient saving battery
Also updating to the latest radios etc, and making sure your prls and profile is up to date is essential, many aosp users, formerly including my self forget about that stuff
I've spent a huge amount of time expirementing with different setups, I think I've found my phones sweet spot
I have loads of friends with rooted evos, mine has the best battery and is typically fastest (chainfire 3d) makes everything snappier
Maybe with all of this info you can test these apps / settings and find your phones sweet spot. Good luck man

I'll agree with Zac here,
evo 3d with CM7 nightly, SavagedZen 2.2.1 CFS. removed all the crap i dont use or think they suck the battery down. live wallpaper etc.
InteractiveX governor, 245-1113mhz
No setCPU.
no juice defender
no taskkiller.
no 4g - no gps - no wifi
blutooth ON
3g always ON.
battery calibrated is a must
display set to manual around 33% brightness. but i change it on the fly (swipe the notif bar).
Now the results are pretty interesting here:
With the stock battery and all the above; if the reception is good, i can go for 2 days with moderate usage. yes i know i night i sleep, so it idles nicely.
If the signal is not so good, it will destroy the battery, and can't really get anything more than 13hours.
My typical use:
unplug at 10am.
use the phone normally.
plug it back in at midnight that night, and i would have between 35% or up to 67% battery left in the phone, depending on the factors mentioned.
Which to me, going all day is all i wanted before i started tweaking. Mission accomplished.
The quality of the reception is a killer, i'll tell you.
I bought a 3500mah battery from the same company, and it is trash.
are there any extended batteries that fit in an otterbox commuter case?
Hi, I was wondering if it's typical for the Evo's battery to take a rather large dip upon unlocking it after not using it for awhile but keeping it on. Around 15% under within the few minutes that I used it after waking it up from maybe about 4 hours or so of not using it and just keeping it locked without any phone calls or other disruptions.
Why does it seem to want to ramp up something like crazy when turning the phone on after not using it for awhile? Or does it actually need to do that to function? Thinking about trying out the conservative governor and jacking up the minimum MHz so the performance isn't horrid.
Using CM7.0.3.1 with SZen, have tried the SZ, smartass, and InteractiveX (current) governors.
Radios and what not are all up to date.
Trying other governors doesn't seem to help this issue at all (if it is an issue).
tried a reflash? I think i had some battery issues the first time i installed CM7. I currently use SZ 2.1 i think with SBC and BFS. My governer profile is set on savagezen and I get pretty good battery life. My phone never has huge battery drops unless I'm using the ever living crap out of it.
Nah, I had a 100% clean flash two times over, I reflashed last time for a different problem which was fixed because i was messing around with settings, not from the system/kernel. I mean I could reflash it again but I've had tons of clean flashes and always have noticed the issue, now that mostly everything else is fixed for me I'm getting around to this issue to see if it even is one.
Same problem drops 5% with in 2 minutes, I've calibrated tried cm7, miui, and stock they all do it...even bought a new battery...
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Mine doesn't necessarily drop a certain % in a certain way/timeframe, just a large dip after not using it for awhile. As if it's taking an enormous amount of resources to try and wake itself back up and stay awake after being asleep for so long.

I switched to a SBC kernel and fixed this issue. used to drop from 100 to roughly 85 % in as little as 10 min off the charger
did you re-calibrate you battery stats???
This is w an extended battery and an amount of usage today...its all about finding the right combo.
I reset battery stats every new kernel/ROM I change. Is it useful for any reason to reset after switching governors? I'm going to try Tiamat next probably.

I use SZ as well, doesn't help it.
Or rather, there's no immediate drop like i said for me. Just quickly depletes after a long wait.

What do you use out of curiosity? I'd love for mine to have a steady drop like that instead of a massive dip, 8hrs on a very decent amount of use too. Even with the extended battery that seems like so much. Unless the extended is literally double the life?
Hey all,
I'm having serious battery drain on MIK 2.56 and pretty much any ROM that I flash. I'm running Chopsuey9.2.7 along with SetCPU profiles. I underclock the majority of the times.
My SetCPU profiles are:
Set on Boot = 691max/245min conservative
Charging = 1152/245 performance priority 100
Screen off = 245/245 ondemand priority 99
In-call = 1152/245 performance priority 98
Battery <50% = 691/245 conservative priority 97
Temp >43.7 degrees = 614/245 conservative priority 96
My evo doesn't like to be clocked at 128 or even 499. It reaches temps as high as 115-120 degrees during charging and while in my pocket (I'm thinking it may have got damaged when I used to run the SBC kernels in the early stages). Im starting to think that i have a bad battery. My battery will drain from 100% down to 80% within 5 minutes and usually will be dead within 2 1/2 hours after being off of the charger with moderate usage such as calls
text and checking email. I have Autokiller running and have set memory Lowmem settings to extreme thru Darktremor a2sd.
Any ideas/suggestions?
I personally would stop messing with setcpu, its cool to see a phone all Super fast and what not, but isn't completely necessary to govern everything you do [calling, sleeping, etc..] I only find it cool to use when I'm playing a cool ass game like contract killer: zombies for nice smooth graphic, or running a benchmark.. otherwise messsing with setcpu tends to do awkward things like drain battery when not properly adjusted, **Especially when overclocked.
My stock battery lasts all day with my current setup. I have setcpu as well but don't really mess with it. I use Smartass governor with 1075/245 for normal everyday use. If I have too many drinks and have to crash at a friends house without my charger I'll drop the max speed to about 700 and use conservative or just switch the governor to powersave. Then I've got more than enough time till I need to get back to a charger.
i got good life on that ROM using Aggressive Freedom kernel & using set cpu at 245/768 set at boot....no profiles.
So you think the use of profiles is the issue? I'm not completely sure the profile for screen off is working correctly; I ssh'd into my EVO and took a look at /proc/cpuinfo but it will not show the current cpu speed.
I'll give it a shot without profiles and see. As for the govenors, I believe Smartass was removed and replaced with InteractiveX; is InteractiveX as good?

I agree but with the way my profiles are set, I'm underclocking the majority of the time and only overclock when charging or on a phone call.
ive noticed i get wose battery life if i set up profiles. Worth a shot.

Could be your baseband or pri. Or maybe update ur prl through a sense rom.
If your phone has a horrible signal it will drain like crazy.

That's correct. Also check your spare parts app for any wake lock.
Also, if you're using a havs kernel, setcpu will conflict with the kernel. And in general, you'll always get better battery life on AOSP.
try using setcpu sometimes that will help save battery.
Disabled Profiles in SetCPU....no luck
So I disabled profiles in setCPU and am underclocking at 691/245 and battery life is still the same. I have the most recent radios/PRI/PRL as well and still getting rapid battery drain. One weird thing it does is the phone will hit 0% and shutdown; I'll place it on the charger (AC wall charger, not the usb adapter) until the orange LED stops blinking; I'll turn the phone on and once it's fully booted it will read 53%......all of this within 5mins of going dead! WTF!!!
I just wiped battery stats again in recovery and will boot and see what that does for me. I'm really starting to think the battery is partially bad....
Just left Sprint. They tested the battery and it tested bad and was swollen. I got a stock replacement free of charge although he said they normally would have charged me because the 1yr factory warranty expired. He also went on to say that the battery going bad was possibly caused from my phone being rooted which he may be partially correct. The problem began when SBC first came out and I was testing on the beta stage. It nice to have my phone off of the charger and not be down to 60% within 45 mins!

Idk what your experiences is it may depend on what brand of battery your using. It may not be true 3600mA battery I have a MUGEN battery 3600mAh and that battery lasted me 2.5 days with moderate use but my settings are low brightness, turn off wifi when you dont need it, no overclock. But if I keep the same settings and I overclock to 1.2 ghz I get about 1.8 days worth of battery life. Do you get the picture dont overclock for long periods of time.

Just my 2 cents dude,
but battery life drove me crazy with this phone. I wound up rooting my phone, installing a bunch of different Roms, and going through tons of programs. Bottom line that I've come up with is this, you have to root your phone. If you don't want to install Roms thats fine, but there are some that I have had great battery life with, namely Jedi MInd Trick and Rushing's Galaxy_ROM (currently using). Get yourself a CPU program and underclock the hell out of your CPU. I use CPU tuner with the uniform profile and max out the cpu around 1 ghz, the phone runs fine with it too. Finish off with Llama and you should be good to go.
Make sure data, wifi and most other crap go off when your screen does. Also make sure the cpu is almost off when the screen is. I have mine set to around 500 mhz .
It kind of sucks to have to do it, but it makes this phone much more tolerable.
Hope this helps
