I have made a Nandroid Backup, and did a full wipe. I flashed a newer kernel, but whenever I try to restore my backup, I get "MD5 Mismatch!" on the CWM.
How would I fix this?
Did you rename backup? Or alter the ROM in any way? Sometimes that can cause a md5 mismatch.
R800x-unlocked/ Aokp-m6/ 4.0.4
You are going to have to rehash your file with the original md5sum

Try renaming your folder with the backup like this > 2012-10-13.09.47.04

I have already a copy of the original stock ROM on sd card which I want to bring it back on my Gio. When I try to restore it through CWM, it gives an error that there is error with the md5. I even tried it with Titanium and it gives error too.
How else can I restore this stock back on my phone?
The backup probably got wiped so you can only get stock using odin or one flashable through recovery from here
I did make a copy of the backup on my laptop too, and the same I have put on the sd card to restore it.
I tried to restore it from CWM but it failed.
How can I restore this backup (there are two folders backup + download) by Odin?
You can't restore backups using odin.
I guess you want full stock?
Grab official firmware for you country on sammobile.com
And search the flash instructions on the forums
Thanks for the suggestion.
If its not possible to restore with the backup, then what can it be done with the back up we take?

If it isn't working the backup is useless, delete it and free up your sd card storage
You can't backup it by cmw.

he has 6 posts, he's just trolling to get 10 I guess, and talking complete ****.
you can use ADB to backup, pull system.rfs, recovery.img, boot.img from a running phone, create a .tar, and create md5sum with cygwin, so you can flash it with odin, , but I don't know if you can also pull your data/cache partition and so have a backup..
edit:
your current backup has a md5 fail I think, because you moved it to your laptop and it got corrupted.
you can remove .md5 and extract it?

Hey
@OP you can restore the backup through CWM normally but in special circumstances the md5 checksum will change.. search online for md5 fixer ... i used to do this on my galaxy Y and it worked...

Are you using TWRP or CWM? Have you updated to the latest?
I think TWRP can restore CWM, so if you're on CWM, install TWRP then try restoring. Worth a shot.

Backups are different formats so I dont believe either recovery will restore the others backups.

Thanks for responding and do you think there's any hope for me getting my VZ GNEX back up and running?
Try a different backup or just start fresh and don't use a backup.
is your backup more than 2GB?
Ok so I am currently running the newest version of MIUI. I just got it a few hours ago and I want to go back to my old ROM (codename android) to back up all of my apps to titanium backup. I make 2 nandroid backups before I installed MIUI. Every time I go into clockworkmod and try to restore one of the backups. I get an error saying "error while restoring /system." Is there anything that I am doing wrong? I tried wiping data/cache/dalvik and then installing the ROM, but I get an error saying "some symlinks failed." Any help with this? I need all of my apps back.
Titanium will allow you to restore apps from a nandroid backup. You could also pull them out yourself -- the nandroid script stores them in a tarball.

Just redownload it and flash it, no? After that you can use TB to extract your apps, or you could even just restore /data in CWM -- if I remember correctly, it should allow you to restore each partition individually. So if you are having problems restore the nandroid as a whole (because it fails on /system) just restore /data and /boot.

Haven't seen that before. Make sure youre using the same version recovery you made the backup with. Does it only happen when trying to restore the data partition?

I see that every time i do a backup restore but without issues..Im using CWM latest version if that help...
When making a backup, can I disable MD5 to make the nandroid finish quicker? I've used twrp previously which was faster and I don't recall twrp requring md5 to be generated.
Also, anyone use custom backup? If so, what do you select for your backup?
