Howdy,
i was curious about learning to build cyanogenmod for our EVO. There is a walkthrough on how to do it for CM7. Does anyone know if there is something similar for CM9/CM10 by chance? I'd be curious what sort of differences there are since the EVO isnt officially supported past CM7.
Thanks!

I'm aware that I'm in the wrong territory here but there doesn't seem to be any support for my question in my area. I'm trying to get Viperrom apocalypse running on my evoand can't get past splash screen I love team vipers Roms and could desperately use some direction flame me if you'd like but some help would be appriciated... thanks in advance

If you actually mean Evo then you're a bloody idiot.
NEVER FLASH A ROM NOT FOR YOUR PHONE. Pretty Basic stuff.
No" I'm mean Evo the viperstore app has both epic and Evo and even on the viperrom thread one of the devs shows he's running viperrom apocalypse Evo addition idk maybe I'm a bleeding moron or maybe not....

Even looking on TEAMVipers site there is no Evo version mentioned, either you misunderstood the post or that person has a special build they put together for personal use.
True, I got the rom from the viperstore app. In the market. Theirs even a notation about it may not boot correctly.
Needless to say I was excited when I saw it coming from an epic myself and fairly familiar with the Odin and one click root process. But I'm still very much a noob...
I believe the frozen thread is where o saw the dev running the viperrom evo add....

Thanks for the feedback.

Rude responses aside, I think your best bet is to talk to an Evo developer and see if he can port the team viper ROM. You could talk to the Viper ROM guys, but unless one of them is familiar with the Evo, I doubt they would be much help.
They did have an Evo rom in the Viper Store.... i'd say go to the the ViperROM thread, click on the link to their site, then join their chat..... I'm sure you'd find what you need to know there. I've been in their chat, and they do answer questions.
right on brothers, i will do some further invest. on their official site and once again thank you for going easy on this noob...
I am thinking of getting an epic and had some questions.
I see there is an alpha for CM7 for the epic. I also read somewhere that it used a 2.2 kernel and was hacked together in a way that isn't approved by the cm team. Is that the case?
Can the epic be used on cricket? If so can it be done with custom ROMs?
Thanks in advance for the answers.
CM7 both yes and no. Noobnl and some others broke away and were building, but there was some politics involved. Now the CM7 team is different and is congruent with CM now.
There is a thread in the Development forum that will show you how to do the cricket thing.
Can the epic work on Virgin Mobile?
Anyone know about virgin mobile?
Sorry if this has been asked before but I haven't found a thread about it in the Epic forums. Is there a dev that is working on porting ICS to the Epic? I know the source is out there now and the Epic can be a bit of a pain to port to, but there seems to be no info on ICS on this phone. Thanks for any information anyone can provide.

This will most likely be in the form of CM9, still a little bit away...We haven't even gotten full official CM7 yet. From my understanding the system partition needs to be made bigger (which is being worked on right now in CM7) in order for CIS to be able to sit on our phones. I am not a dev at all, but this sounds like it will be a pretty daunting task
Plus there is a lot of driver information they don't have that they need. WiMax (4G) will likely never be on there and you may have upgraded to a phone with ICS by the time there is a reasonable working model.

It is being worked on, but kind of at a standstill until stable MTD recovery is released.
I know that this has nothing to do with the Epic but I'm coming here to seek guidance. I moved from an Epic 4G to a SideKick 4g and support is dead so is the forums. I'm wondering how difficult would it be to port CyanogenMod 6 or an older MIUI version to the device?
Which phone would be best to use to port CyanogenMod 6? The Sidekick 4g has a Hummingbird processor but like the Epic 4G it has a keyboard and a lot more differences than the other Galaxy S series phones.
Maybe I should of PM'ed someone instead of posting here and if you fill this shouldn't be here please delete it.
You just kind of posted at a bad time.
Another porting thread was JUST made.

I don't think porting cm is possible. You have to build from source. After you have that, miui should be easy. Let me know and I can try to help you

I came from the Motorola Triumph to the HTC EVO because of the lack of good working roms it has. That's one of the main reasons I bought this phone (HTC EVO 4G) because of all the developments going on for a 2 year old phone. Like for instance the HTC EVO 4g LTE came out are a lot of you users and devs going to that phone? So my question would be is the HTC EVO 4g one of those phones even though its 2 years old is development still going on? How come development is still going on? I'm not saying that i want the devs to stop developing for it and move on the the HTC EVO 4g LTE. I know the EVO 4g came out in like 2010 and yet is 2012 and development is still going on for it. How come is that not saying that I want the devs to stop and move on to the HTC EVO 4g LTE. Also I know how to port roms so will the roms on HTC Desire HD and HTC EVO 3D work on this phone are there any special mods needed to be done? Oh and one more question do all of HTC EVO 4g ICS have camera(s) working or is it just the back?
I don't know if you've a question or statement in that jumble, but yes, development is still going on. Many of the current devs are working on ICS, there is a sense 4 alpha floating in the development section. in addition, there are also new gingerbread builds being re-worked.

Well that helps. You can attempt to port the desire to the evo, but you'll need some additional things to make it work, I believe. Also, all the ICS roms have the rear camera working; no ICS Evo rom has the front facing camera [ffc] working.
Okay I cleared it up a bit. Should be easier to understand now.
