Besides Kindle I also use Aldiko which is great and I have recently discovered Mantano which looks promising.

Kindle!

Aldiko is a gud one. Simple and not much of a battery sucker.

The kindle app is meh. I have tried several but ended up with Moon Reader Pro.

I use FB reader for simple ebook reading.

Hi dryspuri,
I have a few screenshots here of some ebook readers. I'm getting the Note 2 in November. I look forward to trying to support the Note 2 community via my site, and continuing with Desire HD info too.
All the best.

Cool Reader

Cool Reader - best ! :good::good::good:

I think the choice is personal. I tried a lot of them, eventually I found out that Moon+ Reader works best for me.

I have been using Moon Reader, Aldiko, FB Reader, Mantano, Kindle, Nook, Cool Reader, Repligo, Ez Pdf Reader and Adobe reader for a long time.
I generally use Ez Pdf Reader in night mode in pdf files and Moon Reader - Cool Reader for the rest.

I'd say FBReader hands down. Nice and simple, reads a lot of formats, very lite.

Worthy S Note replacement app?

This 3-4 seconds lag when creating a new note is becoming very frustrating for me, especially as I often use it.
So is there any worthy replacement of it? I know I won't be able use any alternatives with S-Pen pull out but that's no problem.
Thanks in advance.
PS: I mean an app which will support S-Pen input like S-Note, I won't be using it without S-Pen.

You can try this

Thanks for your replies guys. Tried Papyrus, didn't like it much. My Story, good app, but I don't need it. I've installed the Handrite one, it'll come useful when taking long notes. But atm, S-Note still looks better than others and I think I don't have any other, better options.

Evernote?
I've switched over to Evernote combined with Skitch. Skitch works quite well with the S-Pen in terms of drawing.

Do i need a Tablet PC?

Hello folks
I am proud owner of note 2 and been enjoying it for a while now. It has replaced my laptop to a great extent and i now only use imy laptop for stuff that needs extensive typing.
I have been tempted to by a tablet for long time now but i am not sure if I need one coz of note 2.
What is your guys take on it?
How many of us here have both and use both.
Cheers!!

Why? Why would you possibly need a tablet if you have a phablet. As for extensive typing try using a blue tooth keyboard for it.

Wireless Printer w/ Note 2

I'm outdated on my electronics so today I'll be purchasing a wireless printer.
I received an ad from Big Lots for a Lexmark Wireless Printer on Sale for $69 originally $99.
It even advertised it will work for Android Phones.
My questions to everyone are:
1. What wireless printers have you used or are using?
2. How much did it cost?
3. Can the Note 2 see the printer and print to it directly? Or does it need a 3rd party app for it to print?
4. What would you recommend as far as quality and price? Not looking to spend over $100.
Thanks
I have HP 3050A wireless printer I got from Bestbuy for $35, after I connect the printer to my home wifi, I can print from PC, ipad, and my Note2 directly.
Is it just a printer? The one I'm lookin at is also a scanner and fax machine. But who uses fax still?
Epson 810 here. Printing wirelessly

Brother wireless. Works fine.

Brother all-in-one. Not wireless, but wired to the router. I use Cloud Print app to print to the printer via Google cloud print.
I use a Canon MX Series (Fax, Scanner, Printer, Etc..) and it functions flawlessly with my Note II with the "Printer Share" app. All WiFi too.
Stock TW Roms seems to pick up the printer over WiFi just fine but shows it in the WiFi direct screen. Now the built in Samsung app shows the printer but due to it not being a Samsung device it does not work so thats why I use the 3rd party app.
Cost was about $80 from best buy but it was technically free for me since it was a gift card I used.
Thanks for the response people. I didn't purchase the printer yet because I wanted to see what everyone had to say. Will go this weekend to see what would work best for me.
Invest in the app called "Printer share". Its pricey but worth every penny. Shows you any printer connected via wifi. Flawless app

I too have been looking for a good printer... question, does anyone know of a good bluetooth printer? (I dont have wifi at my house)

Brother has their own app for their networked printers that does photos PDFs and docs I believe. I use it for photos on the color laser and it works great. Dunno about any other apps.
edit - It'd be nice if we got CUPS support or something and could just pop in an IP address and a ppd file and print from Android. Guess google thinks we'll use apps for that.
Printer share is the only app that works but it does not work with touch wiz rom you have to be on a rom like CM10.at least it would not work for me on touch wiz but it works great with cm10

I hope it works on Android. I spent a LONG time looking for a printing ap that supported a Lexmark printer. It seemed that sometimes every other brand was supported but Lexmark. I now have an HP which is supported on my phone by multiple apps and by HP ePrint.
If you're getting the Lexmark, download & check-out that your printer is supported by the apps people have mentioned. Also, go to Lexmark.com and check-out the features or drivers/downloads section to find out if Lexmark has their own system for mobile wireless printing. They MUST have fixed it by now...

How can I access my ebooks on another tablet?

I bought some ebooks with the Samsung credit we got with this device. But I really don't want to read on such a large tablet. Can I access these books on another device? I would rather read on my Nexus 7, but I can't figure out a way to get my books there. I couldn't even find a way to access the on Samsung Note 8 tablet. It doesn't seem reasonable to sell books that can only be read on a single device, so I'm hoping someone here can help me figure out how to access content I purchased on another tablet.
Thanks

There are applications that provide this option, though your device must be rooted.

Can you share more info? Point me to the apps? My Nexus 7 and my Note 8 are both rooted. My Note 10 isn't, but I willing to root it if it helps.

Facebook? That's the only reference I can find to "fBook".
Btw, I tried installing Samsung Hub on my less than one year old (rooted) Samsung Note 8 and it installs but crashes on opening. Same result as on my Nexus 7 with build.prop edited to look like it's a Galaxy S4.
It is just insane that Samsung sells ebooks that aren't compatible with their own tablets.
How can I ever trust Samsung enough to purchase anything from them if what they sell isn't even compatible between the same family of devices of the current generation?!?

FBook is an ebook application.

"Rooted" being key here. They expect it to tun on the stock system. They cannot allow for hundreds of rooted options.

Right on the rooting, nothing special. FBook is the reader I used, it is no longer available. There are others that provide that option though.

Are you saying the reason the Samsung hub app crashes on my Note 8 and Nexus 7 is because they are rooted?
I still have made no progress accessing my ebooks I purchased on my Note 10.1 (2014) on any other device,
Any help is appreciated.

It's probably framework dependant just like a lot of the TouchWiz apps. The note 8.0 should have Samsung hub by default though, assuming you haven't debloated it.

I agree the Note 8 *should* have Samsung Hub, since it is a current generation Samsung device in the same family of tablets, but it doesn't. And it is not even listed as compatible on Samsung page:
http://www.samsung.com/us/samsunghub/
Which is why I'm at a loss why anyone would trust Samsung to buy anything from them if their own tablets aren't even compatible?

Are the books as single files? As in can ou browse for them on your device?
Or is it purchased through an application?
I use a combination of google drive + Moon Reader to achieve some thing similar.
All my books are on the google drive and moon reader + syncs my reading position so I can read on
Various devices

Best keyboard?

Not quite satisfied with stock and since I've used Swype forever on my previous devices, I'm not up to speed on the keyboard front and especially not for super-hires 10.5" tablets. Anyone running any particular ones they're happy with?

Try swiftkey. Its free and has a tablet mode (thumb typing). Swype and the likes don't work for me on a tablet as there's too much real estate to cover.

I use AI on my phone, it is my dd keyboard?. Best prediction capabilities for me. However, its a pay app and you have pay separate for the tab model. Swiftkey is free and has tab mode where it splits the right and left side of the keyboard, bringing them closer to the edge.

Love SwiftKey. You get cursor keys, and, man! Some really great themes! After SwiftKey learns you, it's almost as if it can read your mind.

I use Thumb Keyboard. You can setup text shortcuts and substitutions. It's good for 1 key passwords and infomation like email address, credit card numbers, etc. It makes entering information much easier and faster.
