[Q] Will any Samsung USB jig work on this phone? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all, I already own a USB jig that I've used many times on a SGS2:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNBrick-Samsung-Galaxy-S2-i9100-Download-Mode-USB-Jig-/380346403620
Will this also work on the Note 2?

Your phone has been bricked already?

I would think so. My jig works on the GN2.

Just wondering if the USB Jig can reset the binary counter on the Note2?

Im very interested in that, too. I was not able to find something online about resetting Flash counter
of the n7100 with a Jig.
Perhaps someone has the Answer?

Pretty sure that trick doesn't work anymore guys, think Samsung did something with the bootloader.

Then what works?

[Q] Carrying dead T-mobile SII (T989) :(

Hi People,
I just murdered my T-Mobile SII (T989) :crying:
It was bright Saturday morning, was browsing through web, saw update on forums about official ICS update available for T-Mobile devices.
I have immediately and successfully updated my device to ICS, everything went well and was enjoyinh ICS. But, then the worm inside me yapped and from nowhere I started rooting the phone.
This is the moment it got killed and now I've dead device in my hand.
1. Buttons combo doesn't work.
2. Unable to get the device in download mode.
3. Phone is no longer getting detected on Laptop and throws (qhsusb_load / drivers not successfully installed.) error message.
4. Phone doesn't turn on at all.
I know it’s hard-bricked, but please tell me if there is any way to solve this?
Will JIG option work; if the device is hard-bricked?
I am based in India and sending phone for JTAG would be bit difficult, so kindly suggest if there is any way?

The jig is supposed to work in these type of situations.

I went through this and as far as I know the only way to fix is a jtag service. Or if you can jtag it yourself. I made a 301k USB jig and it doesn't work so jtag is the only option I know unless you warranty it.

OP, you had to of selected re-partion hard drive while flashing the custom recovery through Odin. If this is true there is no fix. Sorry. This destroys the boot partion and recovery nor download mode will work. Did you get a failed message through Odin?

send it to mobiletechvideos, they ship international.

Today, my friend, is great as I just got my previously hard bricked phone back from mobiletechvideos! They unbricked mine after I accidentally tried installing a different model gs2 rom to my phone (price is right fail music). If using the jig everyone recommended isn't working, definitely send it to them and they'll try to get your phone back to life!:good:

I'm still a pretty big noob when it comes to flashing stuff! I'm on gingerbread right now and am a little scared to death to flash anything :S then again the main reason I bricked out was because I attempted to flash a rom that was for a different galaxy s2. I'm still researching on how to safetly flash different roms and which ones work the best

A jig is a USB chord that you take the chord off and attach certain resistors(usually total 301k) to the micro USB connector. Then when u plug it into a phone it should force it into download mode. It however does not work for this phone.

In some cases it will, it's useful to have, but keep in mind it's not some magic brick cure.

All it will do is turn the device on & put it into download mode.
That's it.
Yes it works. I've tested it.

I have an Hard Brick SGH-I747. You confirm that it works? I'm unable to go in Recovery, Download or Bootloader mode. Doesn't turn on. The JTag is required or USB JIG works on hard bricked SGH-I747? Thanks guys.
If a jig won't force dl mode, you need jtag

Precisely knowing diff between hard brick vs soft brick

How do u know if your still safe to try usb Jig to force dload mode with knowing what functions are still showing signs of life ? Like if manual mode.doesnt do it , and u have a red light when charging with no battery. And or can still here connect and disconnect sounds on a Pc.This is a new Question related to possible soft brick only cause im waiting for a real tech savy member to.. hear me out...maybe help in detail. If you get sounds from phone to pc when plug in and can feel the phone quietly.vibe on and off during.button combo ...but all the time with a black screen

Well Im desperately trying to find anyway to avoid jtag expenses, i took.it to a sprint tech i know who deals with this stuff after i had exhausted my options .He said jtag it . Earlier today i made a 300kohm 1/2 watt jig but to no luck it wouldnt force dload mode?
Ive been reading on this other explored method of sd card unbricking using a jig and tweezers to trip a resistor on the board and manually flash a new bootloader it seems..very very very complicated
And noone has succesfully done this as far as i know.
All i did was accidentally flash my old gsm note 2 t889 backup ,jedi master10 rom, when i meant to flash jedi invasion I overlooked the words master for invasion after it flashed it said
Install failed in RED and No OS installed at top then i realized what i did and tried to Save my a** and restore my nandroid that failed also ,then i tried to dig myself out this mess and flash the only other t999 zip rom i had on my sd and that failed Said no OS Installed on top after i rebooted never could reboot again Not even 3button.works for dload mode

I don't know all the specifics in your case, but I can tell you this about a hard or a soft bricked phone.
Plugging a Jig into any android phone is safe and will not harm it at all regardless of it's condition.
If the phone is hard bricked it will not go into download mode even with a Jig.
It makes no difference what the issue or problem is with the phone, simply
plugging a Jig into it will either get you into download mode or it won't.
The way you can tell if the phone is hard bricked is if the phone's screen and or
led's do not light up at all even with a known charged battery and regardless
of which button or combination of buttons are depressed.
If the phone vibrates it usually means that it's not hard bricked.
Hard bricked phones are DEAD they show no signs of life at all
that's why they are called BRICKS.
One of the nice things about the jig is that it can work even if the computer
does not recognize the phone when it's normally plugged into the usb port.
So if your phone is NOT hard bricked my suggestion would be to plug in the
Jig get it into download mode and have Odin ready with the stock or stock
rooted Tmobile Jellybean v4.1.1 firmware ready to flash using the TAR file.
Good Luck!

[Q] Samsung Galaxy SII (SGH-T989): flashed wrong kernel, no sign of boot

I accidentally flashed a siyah kernel (v 4.0.1) intended for the Internation Galaxy SII (i9100) onto my T-Mobile Galaxy SII (SGH-T989). For some reason i overlooked "FOR i9100" and now that i've flashed it there is no sign of life.
It was rooted with the AOKP Milestone Build 6 ROM flashed and working perfectly until i flashed the kernel
No vibration when holding the Power Button, Power&Vol+&Vol-, connecting a USB Jig, a USB wall charger, nor a regular USB. It isn't recognized in ODIN nor Kies when I try these different combinations of buttons and connections.
I have it connected to the USB wall charger and letting it sit for a while, still just a black screen.
Does anyone have a solution to this predicament?

I have but I see it costs around $50 to repair it that way, and T-Mobile charges me $25 to replace the entire phone. I want to do anything possible to fix the phone i have now with my own hands and if it turns out I can't then I'll just send it to T-Mobile. :/

[Q] Please help! Hard-bricked T999L

Hi, so I hard-bricked my S3 and I already tried using a jig and writing a de-brick .img to my ext. sd card, and neither worked so far. My phone remains completely unresponsive after I followed instructions on this site. The only response that my phone gives is a red light when it's connected to my pc or wall charger WHEN the battery is taken out, then the light disappears after several seconds. Also, my pc does recognize that something is connected, but then I get a bad connection sound after a few seconds. So far it seems that I tried every troubleshooting method on this site and I don't know what else to do. The last resort option I'm considering is sending my phone to a third party to get it de-bricked.
if you tried everything then probably a jtag is the only fix
