Root with Docholidays root66. Its just a rooted factory image. All you have to do is flash it in odin, then install a custom recovery, and flash a custom rom. Do not Odin your custom recovery or custom roms, because it will trip you flash counter. If you dont want to trip your counter flash then root with the latest ICS Root66 image(UVALJ4), then flash custom recovery, then flash custom roms. When going back to Stock without root, all you have to do is Odin back to stock and do a factory reset(It typically wont boot stock, if you dont factory reset). Although, I odin back to root66, use triangleaway(from the play store) to reset my flash counter, Do a factory reset, then flash stock. You can find the root66 files here

How can I unroot my Galaxy S3 to completely stock ROM?
Do I need just to download the latest 4.1.1JB from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1968625
and to flash it with Odin?

Yep, just download the stock ROM, flash with Odin. That will overwrite the custom recovery, remove root, and go back to an untainted Touchwiz stock ROM. If you have an incremented flash counter, be sure to solve it before you flash back to stock. Triangle Away can reset the counter to 0, but requries root. Flashing back to stock with Odin will not (in my experience) increment your counter. So after flashing your phone will be virgin again.
So I am trying to do a full return to stock. Because I am newbish I did not understand the difference between unroot/returning to stock rom.
I followed this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1980644 which is CF auto-root to unroot but I did not return to a stock rom before doing so.
In following that thread I ran TA and Full unroot in SuperSU...
To sum: I am unrooted, no longer have CWM recovery but am still running Clean Rom Ace 5.0.
What I'm wondering is can I now follow any root method to re-root, then follow this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2275844 to fully return to stock
?
I have already started following the instructions in this thread but am obviously stuck on #4 because I don't have root or custom recovery.
So I can follow any root method for the device, flash CWM then start on #4 on this thread?
geeeze this is a crazy world!
Any help is appreciated greatly.
re rooted
So I decided to go ahead and re-root and get CWM back.
Then I followed this same thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2275844 and....
And now I got to step 7 and Odin did not install device drivers and I am not seeing com## on odin.
Under ID com odin says
0:[COM5]
Message in odin says
<ID:0/005> Added!!
Any ideas!?
delete thread
problem is solved.
I rooted my T-Mobile GS4 a while back (when I had a windows PC) now I have macbook and I cant use Odin on it. Is there way I can just go back to 4.2 without unrooting my phone?
Mobile Odin, flash stock Rom tar but select Everoot option too keep root.
There's a couple of threads to show how to use Odin on a Mac.

Is root all you've done? Like are you on the stock ROM still?
If so you can always just uninstall Super User.
Of course this won't restore the stock recovery or reset your flash counter. But it will remove root access.
It all depends on how much you want to unroot and what you are trying to accomplish by it.
I installed root using the superSU method and I want to unroot it
But I can't find how to unroot it
