ok, not sure if this is rom, app, or vzw gnex related, but...
with google voice, when i used to receive a new voice mail on my gsm gnex, when i pulled the notification bar down, i could play the voice mail in the notification drawer. also, in my call log, there was an option to play the message as well. now, on my vzw gnex, these are not there. running latest 4.1.2

I'm trying to enable Google Voice to be used for voicemail on my phone.. but I'm having lots of issues.
I'm running the CM6 Nightly (update every day or two) and have no Sprint apps left on the phone. I Installed/updated the Google Voice app on my phone, activated my Voice account for voicemail online, and called the number that it told me to call.
I am getting an error "Unfortunately your network carrier is currently not supported..." when trying to configure my voicemail for Google Voice.
Not sure where to go from here.
At the moment the only way I can access my email is by calling my number the old fashioned way.. I also get like 4 text notifications for every voicemail. I'm not sure why I get so many?
Thanks for any help.
You can ignore that setting. All it's really telling you is that GVoice can't automatically change your voicemail settings without calling a special number. As for the texts, go to your GVoice page on a computer, Settings, Voicemail, and un-check the Voicemail Notification texts.
I have been jumping from different versions of ICS roms and was unhappy with all the bugs. Somewhere along the line sprint vvm stopped working. I decided to odin back to stock el29 with root. Sprint vvm still doesn't work. I also don't get any notification of my voice mails. I can get voice mails by holding down the #1 key, but have no idea if I have any. How can this happen on a stock el29 rom? I did try out google voice and it works, but i just like sprints better. Could google voice be blocking something? Also, last week people were telling me that my caller id was showing some strange number instead of mine. Any thoughts at all???
*edit*
I also updated my prl and profile after the odin to el29 still no go.
Sounds like you've linked your number with Google voice. You have to unlink it to get vvm working. Try Google.com/voice to get to settings

That was it. Thanks man!
I am having the same problem, no voice mail. I'm not with Sprint I'm on Ting. I have the Google Voice app on my phone. I wanted to use it mainly to do free texting and therefor I don't have my voice or voice mail routed through GV. I cannot unlink my cellphone from GV (Google won't let me) but my phone is not activated on GV.
Edit:
After looking on my account for my carrier I found a settings page that had different options for my phone and voicemail wasn't checked off so I checked it and now I have voicemail.
Does anyone know what phone.apk i can use to get my voicemail ... running boostmobile... thanks
My gf's phone has been having some issues with google voice for awhile now. She's always wanted the stock incredible VVM back, but no one's ever been able to find it on other forums. If anyone has the stock VVM for the phone, I think she would like that better.
If not...
Her issue is that whenever someone calls her phone it always has different responses. Some people call and say the number is unavailable, others say it asks for her subscriber number. I've called three times now and i've had those two errors along with one that actually got through. The problem is that she isn't receiving all her calls, which anyone on this forum can attest that this is a MAJOR issue, especially while she hunts for jobs. If ANYONE can figure out a solution to this problem it would be awesome. I've searched the web for weeks trying to find a solution or even an alternate VVM, but I haven't had any luck.
I just need to figure out one of the following:
- how to get back stock Incredible VVM
- how to fix or permanently get rid of google voice
- find an alternative VVM that works decently and can get past this google voice issue.
Any help would be appreciated...
Phone is Verizon Droid Incredible running CM7 version 7.0.3-inc
What are her Google Voice settings set to? Open GV and navigate to: Menu/More/Making Calls? This setting should be set to "Do not use GV to make calls." I've been using it for about a year and across different roms with absolutely no problem, so this is a surprise to me.
To remove Google Voice (no don't do it, stop...aight I'm done):
If you want to remove GV, sign into her Google account from a computer, along the black Google title bar click on "More" then select GV from the list of Google services. Now, click the gear icon below your account name and there is a "deactivate Google Voicemail on this phone" link in blue. Once you deactivate Google Voice, your Verizon voicemail should be working. I haven't personally done this, cuz I actively use GV. I believe your Verizon voicemail is *86 if you want to access it over the phone. If you want, call Verizon to ensure the second phone (the GV account) number is disconnected from the account as well. Last step requires you to call and test her voicemail to make sure they come through.
P.s. Doesn't every rom include Voicemail Settings under Settings/Call? Does changing your settings there fail as well?

thanks that got rid of it. i also found how to set it back to the carrier voicemail like you said. i like google voice, but that problem not being able to receive calls 50% of the time just kills the functionality of a phone almost. i wish i knew the deeper problem of it so i could make it fully functional. thanks though, this fix will work for now.
Not a problem, sucks that you had that issue arise. Glad I could help.
I'm running FE22, however this problem was noticed in several ICS builds.
I'm trying to use the Google Voice App for all my texting/voicemails. I'm using the "use your google voice number..." option in the integration, as I had my google voice number set up prior to moving to Sprint.
Google voice is not notifying me of new voicemails or text messages. The online webpage (as well as the Google Voice plugin for Chrome) see the messages right away.
I've checked every and all "notification" type options on the phone. If I enable the "send text messages to phone" and "send text message when I have a voicemail" I get notified via the text messaging app, however that's not what I want. It should notify me in the status bar and play a sound when a new text message/voicemail comes in WITHOUT sending it to the native text messaging app. I swear it used to do this in GB, but I can't be sure if it was on my old Verizon phone, or this phone.

If you go into the Gvoice app - is it set to sync background data?
I've run a few ICS roms and haven't had this problem.
Maybe try clearing the data on that app or uninstalling/reinstalling fresh?
If you are using a battery saver app that disables mobile data or background data, like Juice Defender, then Google Voice will not receive updates while data is disabled. No updates to the GV app, then no notifications.

try this. Open Google Voice App, Menu, Settings, Sign Out. Now, when trying to sign back in, it asks if you want to "Skip" or go "Next". This is asking if you want to integrate the "special Sprint+GoogleVoice" application. Apparently Sprint and GoogleVoice have partnered up. So click SKIP not NEXT. Skipping will allow you to go about Google Voice in the NORMAL SET UP.
I was having trouble making phone calls with my Google Voice number. I experimented and realized that this Sprint integration was the culprit.
Let me know if this solves the issue
So it's fixed now. I'm not 100% sure what did it, but I think it was the option "Voicemail display". I had it checked at one point, and it seem to start working after I unchecked it.
However, prior to this, I had also completely wiped my phone (deleted everything on the internal SD card) and flashed the latest FE22 build.
disable the "Voicemail display - view and play voicemails from the phone call log"
An update for anyone experiencing this and puzzled as to what fixes it. Of course this could have far more variables in play but the setting that enabled the Google Voice voicemail notifications to work was disabling the "Voicemail display - view and play voicemails from the phone call log" option under Google Voice settings. I am running GA10 (JB 4.1.2).
I've had Google Voice Mail for quite a while with my Sprint # tied to it. It stopped working recently, not sure if due to a CM11 nightly update, probably not. I've checked voice.google.com settings and it shows that it is tied to Sprint and verified the carrier, all good there.
But when I call the phone number, it now goes to Sprint's voice mail instead of Google's and then I get a text from I guess Sprint that says to call 408.970.0000 to get to voice mail but doesn't work. Calling direct into Sprint voice mail says I have no messages. So basically my voice mails are lost.
I've tried to reset everything up in Google Voice. It properly sends texts to Google Voice but not Voice messages. Any ideas.
