Possibly Bricked?? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I was messing around in Rom Toolbox Pro in the "Boot Animations" section and decided to change my boot animation.
However, after installing the boot animation and rebooting the device, it's just a plain black screen.
The black screen doesn't allow me to access anything on the device. The screen just remains black. I can tell the Android has booted because I am still getting notifications and all of the LED's still light up.
At this point, pushing any hardware key makes the phone act like it's at the lock screen but still stuck on the black screen.
I can still access CWM and I tried doing a restore of a previous backup but no luck.
Help?

Just a simple reflash of the ROM.
Thanks for the help though!

Help. Black screen after root, no white bars.

I n a previous thread i mentioned that i received a recertified phone with hardware version 0002. I just rooted and everything went well, talked on the phone restored some apps with Titanium etc.
When i tried to boot into recovery with quick boot i got the HTC Incredible white screen with black letters and then 5 buzzes. The led is blinking green but the screen after that is completely black.
I let it sit for a while, pulled the battery tried again with no luck. I can't even get into the recovery the manual mode.
Help!
------
EDIT:
Well, this is just really weird. I let the battery out for about 5 min and tried again. The phone booted just fine.
I will try again to get into the recovery and update you on this.
------
EDIT#2:
I was able to boot into recovery now.
What happened to me, was I flashed an amoled recovery and I had an slcd so my screen woulsnt turn on.
I can't find the link, however if you google screen wont turn on but phone does incredible, you should be able to find a solution. You basically have to go into hboot and flash a new recovery blind, but it isn't too hard.

Thanks for the info but i do have an AMOLED and flashed the appropriate stuff. If you read my edit above it actually worked fine after a few tries.
I'm not sure what happened but if anyone can shed light as to why this would occur i would be very interested.
So i spend countless hours so far on this. There are a few threads out there with this problem and people suggest that it's a Qualcomm diagnostic mode.
The problem now is that my phone reboots randomly, shows the splash screen, vibrates 5 times and goes into a black screen with the led flashing green.
Anyone out there with a solution to this? This is so frustrating.

Can you get into download mode??
With the phone off .. Press 1 (on the keyboard) and power. If so, maybe try to odin back to EC05 stock

good luck
If on boot after pulling battery it is still black and download mode shows nothing, and you have tried Odin (it works but you see nothing still) I am afraid you need to head to the Sprint store.

try to odin to ec05 stock ... leave your phone again for a while and see when you get your screen back if you can get to download mode and odin that stock rom ... this will allow you to see if it is something up with a rom you're running.
if it does it then, you'll be at stock so when you go to the sprint store; it won't be an issue.

I agree Odin back to stock is your best option and if that dosn't work you probaly stuck with a black screen!
Yes, if you got it to come on once by leaving it you should be able to do it again and Odin before making any calls.
I had no choice but to take it to the sprint store
they fixed it !!!

Hey, I know this is an old post but I have an old Epic I'd like to see if I can trade into for credit towards a Galaxy S III but I'm having the exact same problem as described here:
Softkeys light up, screen hepatic feedback "buzz" can be felt, can swipe to unlock and answer a call based on blind-memory of what to swipe but other than that, the screen is completely black. Not black as in lit up but devoid of any other color except black, but gone dark.
If it weren't for the softkeys being lit, I would assume the screen were either broken or disconnected from the motherboard somehow. There are no cracks in the screen. Phone has seen better days for sure but the screen is intact and all functions were working perfectly before it simply...blipped off in front of my eyes.
I've tried doing as you did: charging it for 3+ hours and seeing if that worked at least temporarily. No go.
Assuming our two phones were experiencing exactly the same issue, can you tell me when you had it repaired, if the issue was a hardware or software issue? If hardware, did they have to replace the screen? or was it merely not connected properly somewhere?
If it was a software issue, how did they repair it? I'm assuming I can, in fact, get the phone into download mode, but without a visible screen, I can't boot off of a zip file or see if any of my actions are successful. Can't be sure I cleared the caches properly before I proceed, etc.
Phone was last running toadlife's CleanGB prior to the FC09 update and I'm pretty sure, prior to EL30 (I can't remember but I'm pretty sure it was).
Again, I know this is old but any feedback would be appreciated.

Hm, so you're saying download mode or recovery mode open up but with a black screen? But it still reads touches? My guess is it's hardware, a loose connection to the screen.
Yeeeeah, good luck towards funding your S3 purchase.

I'm having this issue have my phone was dropped yesterday, so I'm quite sure it's a hardware issue.
I have two questions: can somebody be so kind as to give me the button sequence for how to make a nandroid of my phone? I have CWM 5.0.2.7 without the 'one confirm' option. That would be awesome. Also, is anyone familiar with taking the phone apart and perhaps how to fix this issue?

Thanks tazfanatic. I tried the backup procedure and it didn't seem to work, and I think I actually have CWM 5.5. Is the procedure any different?

Indeed. I'm running CM9 beta 2, and I'm pretty sure it came with 5.5. However Taz, I believe if you boot into recovery from ROM Manger or the power menu, it still takes you into your previous recovery version (such as 5.0.2.7). Or vice versa. I don't remember. To my knowledge, this is has something to with the switch to MTD, and the devs just have reroute that command.
But regardless, I'm not getting a new backup on my SD card, so I'm pretty sure I'm on 5.5. Kenny, do you know if there's a different button sequence for 5.5?
5.5 is the same. I would remove the battery to make sure it is powered off. Put the battery back in, hold camera, volume down and power in that order (making sure power is last) for 5 seconds. wait 20 seconds to make sure it booted into CWM 5.5. Then volume down 4 times then camera twice. Depending on how many apps you got I would wait 30 minutes before pulling the sd card to check in clockworkmod\backup directory for a new file with current date code.

Accidentally Deleted Something, Phone Does Not Work - Rooted, Help

Phone Model = Galaxy S2 T989 (Tmobile model)
I rooted my phone yesterday using galaxys2root.com's method. The phone was properly rooted.
I then used Titanium Backup and deleted some "stock" bloatware. I deleted something and after rebooting my phone, my phone stays at a bright "SAMSUNG" screen. I DID NOT MAKE A BACKUP. (Lesson learned)
I held down the volume buttons and power button and factory reset my phone, then rebooted the phone. The phone is no longer stuck at the bright SAMSUNG screen and seems like it is factory reset.
When I choose to "Skip" the intial google account setup, I get an error stating "Setup Wizard" failed to operate and has to foreclose. When I goto lock my screen, I get the original lock screen. I swipe it away, but, I get nothing on the screen. It is just a blank, black screen.
Any help would be much appreciated.
EDIT: I wasn't able to connect the USB to my computer, but, after I did the factory reset, I was finally able to.
Sure fire bet would be to Odin a stock rom and start over from scratch.

How would I "Odin a stock rom" to my phone? And, where can I find a stock rom? I am still pretty new to all of this.
Nevermind, I flashed my phone with a new rom and it works now..

Android Safe Mode

I've never seen this posted here so I thought I would share since it might save some people from having to reflash/factory reset when they get boot loops.
http://www.tested.com/news/feature/...ds-safe-mode-to-save-a-phone-from-boot-loops/
I haven't tried it yet because it says that it breaks all of your widgets and I don't feel like setting all of those up again right now. If anyone tries it post your results here for others to see.

Worked. Hold VolDown through the entire boot process, I got 2 pink HTC logos on a black background after the first boot logo. It did remove my one widget when I booted back to normal.

Thanks for trying it out! I can't believe I have never seen anything about this before last night. It would be great for all the times I've thrown my phone into boot loop when messing with CPU settings!

Only broke my weather clock widget & had to re-select Swiftkey.
Nice to know it'a an option, but I have no problem factory wiping. :silly:
Don't see how much it will help though, considering most bootloops are caused by system stuff and not downloaded apps. Could be useful in some situations though.
Yeah it will only help with app related boot loops but its still good to know.

Need help... replaced screen it works but is in a boot loop now?

Not really sure what went wrong, I ordered a replacement screen for my Nexus changed it and now when the ROM is about to show the home/lock screen the phone just reboots.
Otherwise everything works. I tried to clear everything and reinstall the existing ROM via CWM, even tried a different ROM... nada... does the same thing. Just reboots after the ROM's splash screen just before it looks like it's done loading and about to show the lock screen.
Any ideas? Is there incompatibility between screen versions somewhere?
Screen seems to be defective after all.
Put back the original screen to test, and it worked right away, swapped back to the new screen worked twice and then got stuck on boot loop again after the 3rd boot.
It sounds like it may be something with voltages
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
could be I suppose... don't understand why... the screen does work during boot and in CWM.
Also I'm running stock voltages, put back the stock kernel, etc... no difference.
Not sure why it worked twice after swapping back the OG screen either... I tried the OG screen for the 3rd time and then the new screen and it didn't work again after that so I gave up and contacted the seller.
