Would be nice, but from earlier rumours Google will release a "few" Nexus devices running Android 4.2 (or 5.0 whatev.) first but before anyone else will adopt it it will be a bit. Jellybean is pretty much just been rolling out for a couple months.
It seems way too soon to release KLP. I wouldn't mind if they did, but there are very few phones on JB right now.

I honestly think, it's too early to make a jump from 4.1 to 5, with the rumored features expected on KLP, it seems nothing so big as when ics was released, and I doubt google could completely revamp the os in what, 4 months?

Another feaute rumored was a theme like engine that would allow vanilla android to be pushed to our phones and the manufacturer can push their skin at a later time. This could be hog wash but that would be cool. I seriously think Google is trying to get updates to more phones.

Android Police has server logs of devices on 4.2 with build names starting with J.
Also, 3.0,3.1 and 3.2 were all Honeycomb.

Yeah i think its gonna be 4.2. like for 4.1 the main thing was project butter i think for 4.2 klp its gonna be project road runner. Im probobly gonna switch from the gs3 to the next nexus that comes out.
So every major release of android is a food/desert name starting with the next letter of the alphabet. We should play a guessing game to see what's after Key Lime Pie. And what will happen after Android reaches Z?
Thats why im getting so annoyed of android crap cuz without even giving 4.1 to users they say 4.2 is on its way which sucks balls and apple is right actually having such a low number of android phones that got ics is a ****ty way to treat customers. And no it is not a matter of technology advancing super fast is just their strategy to screw customers just like sammy did with european gs3 and then 2 months later another upgraded version of gs3 was out.
What are u talking about? The sgs3 in USA is different because of lte. If anything I rather have the quad core over a dual core as 1gb of ram is more than enough. And I'm pretty sure the sgs2 has ics and they're gonna even release jb for it. A lot of ppl are still using phones from 2 yrs ago so obviously they're not gonna have the new updates. That's just common sense technology is outdated every 6 months so for Samsung to update a yr old phone is a big deal

Once Jellybean is released, I wonder how long it will take before Key Lime Pie to be released. Jellybean has great features and wanting to know what features KLP has to offer. KLP might be android 4.2 or 5.0.

Is it really going to call key lime pie? It's too early to talk Key Lime Pie (Android 5.0), the norm for upgrades on Android phones has always been 1 major upgrade and that's normally it. Considering Galaxy S III is a great device I highly doubt we will see Key Lime Pie and they will save it for Galaxy S IV (or whatever their next Flagship device will be called)
That's not true. The Nexus S started with Gingerbread, then got the ICS update and now it has Jelly Bean

I agree. We dont even have "Official" Jelly Bean. Sure we have leaks but nothing official has been released other than the rollout to some internationals last week.
Let's be more concerned with a working JB and all the probable incrementals that come out afterwards (like ICS 4.0/4.0.3/4.0.4), than about leap-frogging onto the next OS.

The problem is the source.
We have ics and ics source. No one wants to waste time making ics aosp when jb has been out going on a year soon.
They just got source for the Korean jb version of our phone this week. They are working on it but it has some differences.
None of the phones are the same. Different cameras, radios, nfc chips, modems....
That is why.

Love this phone, love the hardware, but we've been hearing it's coming "soon" for months now. LG either did this on purpose, or miraculously made this the hardest phone to develop for. I'm now regretting switching away from Samsung...who seems to be much more in tune with the Dev community and providing what's needed to let developers have their way with the phones. I wish LG would get it together and give the dev's what they need.

I'm honestly so glad I switched from my bb to this. I don't have the crazy desire for JB. Just glad I got rid of the Bb
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda premium
I swear I am not trolling.
But you said your happy you got rid of the BlackBerry and I on the other hand really want to check out the new bb10. I don't think I will buy it. As much as it has to offer it still won't compare. It does feel a niche in the community.
I think it will do well in the older market (30+ professional outside of IT). There is also a tremendous gap now in phone sizes. The only phone with a halfway normal size seems to be the iPhone and most of us still assume the phone as trendy and a fancy feature phone. Not a mini laptop like the Android.
And the reason we want JB is a lot of us downgraded on the software to get a phone with superior hardware. Furthermore, most of us thought the software would catch up sooner than it has. ICS is great but it is like the first production year of a new model of car. Jelly Bean is more refined. There are also additions in performance, battery life, smoothness, and apps.
For example, my wife's phone will tell her what the expected drive time is to work. She didn't program it. It just knows do to her normal schedule. ICS is great software. JB brings with it the very early stages of AI that adapts to your needs.
Just think what Key Lime will bring us. Eventually it will be so advanced it will go one of two ways. One, to hard to develop. Or the other which I hope for, full integration. The software will know what screen you have and radio you use. You just install and go. We won't have to count in manufacturers to release the source. The software will adapt for your nfc chip and gpu.
I honestly don't know why it has taken so long already. The SOC should do a simple handshake with the OS and be in its way.
Um, what was I taking about.
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda premium
Actually scratch that. I had the 8530 so I know the pain of waiting for an os bb6, and in the end we did get it lol
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda premium
Only reason i got rid of photon was because of moto's lack of drive to update phones that are more than capable of running ICS or JB.
The photon's performance would have been greatly improved

From an update standpiont, yes, Moto bites. From a general software standpoint, LG is the worst of the big names. Their OTA's run more like alphas, maybe betas. Have yet to see an LG without major software mistakes and I've worked on a fair number of them.
That being said, I know as soon as JB source drops joker, th3bill and myself are going to try to get as far away from LG's code as possible. This is mainly for our sanity.

Correct. Once Sprint JB source drops (hopefully after my move) I want to get all the devs together and go over how to approach future ROMs. I see a stock based, aosp and N4 based. Also see hybrids of all three as well as ports like Paranoid at that point.
I know we all have our strong and week points and think we should build off that for the end users. How is everybody doing for web space and domains? After the move I plan to restructure/rebuild Martian Imperium as a more multi-dev website and already have some folks on board for the change.

I think we will probably get those new features after the S4 is out, but I think it will also be packaged as JB 4.2, so I feel we will have both the new features and currently released Android OS, so it will get Panorama shot, lockscreen widgets, etc. If we do get JB 4.2, that will be 2 major OS updates since official release (ICS 4.0 > JB 4.1 > JB 4.2.
I also hope that the Note 1 (I have the international version running on Straight Talk's AT&T and also on T-Mobile's $30/month plan) gets some of the new S4 enhancements and maybe JB 4.2 as well, but that would be a stretch.

I respect your opinion and am glad its good for you......but no denying that many other people have plenty of issues. You're just lucky!
4.1.2 basically has no issues...none that can't be solved easily anyway. I am pretty lucky too....4.2.2 has never given me any major issues....but one random reboot or lockup and I'm back on 4.1.2. LOL. I've had zero issues with 4.1.2.....none that weren't solved as quick as they came anyway. 4.2.2 still has the odd issue, and for some, 4.3 has many. Even official 4.3 on my N7 has ticked me off enough that its going back to 4.2.2 when I get the chance. And 4.3 has changed nothing on my N7....for me anyway. For some it fixed lag from 4.2.2.....but I didn't lag on 4.2.2. So why deal with 4.3 when I see no improvement personally.
All personal preference of course. Just for me, nothing has been more solid on my t989 than 4.1.2.
I understand fully that the majority on xda will live with a glitch here or there to be on the latest and greatest........just for me....I'm all about stability now. Tired of glitches.
But no.....I'm not getting an iPhone.....I still like to play with my phone....and iPhone won't let ya! Lol
