Manually download and run an RUU. Use a WWE(WorldWide Edtion) RUU setup and run it from your computer after connecting your phone via usb cable.
Get the RUU's from here (courtesy Football) -->http://www.filefactory.com/f/efa28fefafc4af9c/
Get to 2.3 atleast!

No those are official RUU's, there wont be any error in the middle provided you don't disconnect your phone in the middle of the process or the battery dies out. Make sure you've downloaded the correct RUU(WWE edition) and that the phone has enough charge. Connect the phone and start the RUU setup. Follow the on-screen instructions and the rest will be fine.
Just don't disconnect your phone during the process.
You'll lose your data(i.e. installed apps, contact information, messages and stuff). You wont lose data on your memory card though. You can always sync the contact information from you Google account afterwards and install apps from the market.
Get 2.3 atleast and start reading these forums to learn rooting and flashing new ROM's. Most of us here are already on ICS or Jellybean and I think you might enjoy it too considering you're only experience is with Froyo right now.
But as for now.. just try to install the RUU for 2.3

Need to unroot

Hey guys I need to unroot and i am trying the shipped RUU and I always get two failures ( not hooked up USB, or battery below 30%)
is there a ROM here I can flash that would remove root? I cannot check the wiki due to it being down
If you are going to unroot you need to run the RUU. Just plug it into the charger for a while. Also make sure HTC Sync is installed on your PC. Hope that helps
Sent via the Sprint HTC EVO
yeah i got sync on now, had to uninstall droid explorer to get things going but it still does not flash the unrooted imgine
Hmm... at what point does the RUU error out?
Sent via the Sprint HTC EVO
What RUU are you using?
I can not find a true factory shipped from for my evo, I'm wanting to do the exact same thing the OP is trying to do, no luck in finding an untouched stock rom. Goin crazy over here!
Maybe I am misunderstanding. Do you just want a ROM that is stock with no root access? That will not get rid of the NAND unlock. Just super user access. You would still be able to boot into recovery I believe.
Sent via the Sprint HTC EVO
it now times out and shoots back a "incorrect bootloader" I assume its because i'm on 1.45 and trying to the stock release one
anyone have a link for the lastest RUU with out any mods

I'm assuming you've been able to connect it before? to get rooted? using adb?
If so, I had the same problem, and actually had to reboot my computer. For some reason the dang usb drive just stopped working. Rebooted computer and it connected.
If you haven't used adb or don't know how to get the computer to connect to the phone, check the first thread on the development forum about adb, here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=694250
Hopefully, you didn't lose your usb connectivity on your phone. If so, you'll need to check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695243&highlight=bricked+usb

Did you try unplugging the USB from the phone and plugging it back in? Or a reboot?
I thought adb was only for rooting your phone? From what I read to do a stock rom you just need to have a USB connection and run the .exe from the PC?
yeah I'm gonna reboot now, as we know HTC software is not problematic

Sounds like this problem. He has to start with the first rom, then do the 2nd rom, then do the 1.47 rom.

Install the drivers, you need them to recognize your phone.

Won't Connect via usb, dosn't detect phone or computer ?!

My phone (HTC Desire) used to work fine (i have had it for nearly a year now) but now it has suddenly decided to not let me connect, sync or do anything over usb, none of my pcs detect it either.
I have tried a hard reset (no change) and i am wondering what I should do next?!?
Many Thanks
Josh
p.s Phone info in signature
EDIT: It just wont recognise anything via usb except charger and car dock :-S
as your phone seems not to be rooted, you should check wether the drivers are correctly installed if using ms windows...
The drivers are correctly installed, I just don't know what to do next ...
You should try rooting (with Unrevoked-it's kinda' easy) and after that installing a custom ROM ... and try then
Or you can try another PC and see if the sync is wirking there

[Q] USB Mount THing Wont Work

it charges via computer and all that but it wont mount the sd so i can copy/move files frokm computer
Which Rom are you using....some of them are having USB mounting issues....I know one of at least one cyanogenmod nightlies is having issues from putting mexdroid or whatever it was called on my phone so I assume some more of the nightlies have issues but that is just an assumption. So yea that would be my best guess.
Need to know what ROM you're using, and did it work before you made any changes or has it never worked?

its stock rom... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=836042...i downloaded the odex
when you connect your phone to your computer, drag down the notificatiom bar and select use device as "disk drive". this will mount your phone as you wish as a storage drive which is what allows you to use third party programs like doubletwist. there is also other options like pc sync and charge only, which is what you are stuck on.
thats the problem...it wont show anything on the notificationbar as it is supposed to...is there other ways i can reinstall original rom??
Im using mexdroind! And on mine in Windows 7 it shows all the drivers but my phone pops up as a MTP device??? Why is tthat and how do i fix it?

I also would lke more info on what MTP device is.... and how to install the driver for it... cause I am hoping that would be a work around to solve the usb mount problems on flippy125 kernel untill he releases a new one... btw you can flash a different kernel like pershoots and it should go away and work fine..(then flash back!) Lol
Or just mount usb via recovery...

ReRoot:Failing bad after Ruu to 3.70

Hello All after searching and following directions of multiple threads including this one http://vaelek.com/index.php?/topic/1666-guide-how-to-un-root-re-root-your-evo-4g/ Unrevoked3 method and this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8223391&postcount=1 Auto root method, Im completely stumped and lost on what to do next. Im a half a noob.
After having some flashing issues with any non aosp Gb roms, I was forced to do Unroot rerrot method in hopes that would fix it.
So I Ruu'd to this setup:
hardware 0003
2.15.00.11.19
3.70.651.1
pri 1.90_003
prl 60679
and was able to get back to stock 2.2 and s-on
So then trying to root again, ran into issues.
Unrevoked method:
Installed usb drivers & htc syn(then uninstall)
Debugging on
Phone charge mode
and when i get to step to run Unrevoked, I get to the familiar waiting for device.
Does this everytime
Note that might be important: Step Where i go into Device Manger, I never have "Other Devices" listed-Android 1.0 like its says it should. However, Im still able to install/update drivers under"Disk Drives" Htc Android Phone Usb Device
One Click AutoRoot method:
Followed steps as it says and when i get to right click on Autoroot.bat & run administrator Step, Black box pops up, Runs through its thing it says it doesnt recognize advice. Tried over and over same thing.
btw im on Windows Vista 64 bit
Heard that trying a previous version of unrevoked3(3.2) could solve this issue but had problems finding anything other than updated version. v also tried switching usb cables and other little things you would not think it would be but im desperate.
i dont know what else to do. Ive been searching google all day. Please please help me.
Do you have usb debugging enabled from your phone?

Can someone help with this please? Sorry if I'm doing something I shoukdnt, but I haven't been able to enjoy anything regarding rooting/flashing & it hasn't been from lack of training and effort. So many problems iv had and I just want to be able to enjoy like everyone else. I'll be here to answer any questions that might help someone help me with this.
Thank you 1000 times for XDA

Been doing looking online to figure why neither option is recognizing my device and still cannot root.
Could there be a chance the reason is I'm on a 64 bit system?

Is you phone on 2.2 or 2.3 unrooted? Also you installed the modified hboot drivers from unrevoked?
Ruu'd back to 2.2, my current set up is in op. And yes installed drivers, followed exact directions of the both Unrevoked method and autoroot method exactly as the directions say. Neither method is recognizing my device. See op.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
First and foremost, you need to turn usb debugging back on.
Sorry that was a typo, i always have it on when its suppose to be, sorry.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
After you installed the drivers, you see android bootloader interface once the phone is plugged in? Also, reboot your phone and pc, then try unrevoked again.
Yes I see that but I dont see Android 1.0 under other devices in device manager. Thought this could be part of the issue as well. Your suppose to see that after installing drivers and plunging in phone.
As a last resort I'm trying a different pc as we speak. If you have a step by step directions maybe something that is easy to follow that would be great. Starting the downloads now on the new pc.

This is my guide to rooting...so far flawless victory for those that have used it.
Rooting
1. http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.p...driver_install ; Download the hboot drivers needed for rooting. The instructions are also there of how to install them, straight forward.
2. Download unrevoked3 > http://unrevoked.com/recovery/ ; It will show up as reflash_package on your desktop; leave it alone for now
3. On your phone from a home screen: menu > settings > applications > development and make sure usb debugging is checked; needed so that unrevoked can find the phone; never turn this off
4. http://www.htc.com/us/support/evo-sprint/downloads/ ; Download htc sync and install it. After that, uninstall the program from your computer ; you only need the drivers from it.
5. On your phone, connect the to the pc in CHARGE ONLY, do not mount as a disk, ect, has to be charge only
6. On the desktop, run unrevoked [reflash_package], accept the disclaimer, blah blah
7. Just sit your phone down and let it do its thing. It'll take about 5 minutes, and the phone will reboot twice. Once its done, it'll say done. You can open your app drawer and you'll see an app that says superuser, and then you're done.
IF unrevoked tells you 'is your firmware too new?' boot into the bootloader [while turning the phone on, hold vol+down till you see a white screen with androids skateboarding.] Use the volume keys to navigate after the scan completes to clear storage [a factory reset, data will be lost] and then use the power button to select it, then repeat step #6.
To tether, you can flash a custom rom of your choosing after you've browsed, and then use the built in hot spot, or download wireless tether from the market, more later after you root.
Unrooting
1. http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/forever ; Scroll down to the FAQs, then download the unrevoked s-on zip. This places the security back on your phone, because rooting makes it s-off, and if s-on, quickest way to tell your phone was rooted.
2. Flash that file from recovery, then boot back into the bootloader [vol+down while turning phone on] and verify until its s-on.
3. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19699565/3.70 RUU Zip.zip ; rename that file to PC36IMG, place on the root of your sdcard [not in a folder] then flash it in the bootloader. When the scan that normally does nothing, it'll detect that file. Apply the update then reboot. That's a stock 3.70 firmware file, it'll take you back to stock, unrooted, s-on.
Ok will try it and let you know thank you so much
Edit
the first link is no good but i just googled unrevoked wiki and i think i got it
