Touchwiss & App Position Backup - Galaxy S III Themes and Apps

Hey guys!
I know there are already many short Threads about this, but I didnt found any, matching to me.
Whats the Problem:
I want to backup my HomeScreen with all App & Widget Positions. Also I want to backup my AppDrawer-Menu (Folders, Icon Postions etc).
I found 3 Solutions, so far:
-Using another Launcher, that can nativly backup these data (not matching for me- I like Touchwizz)
-Using "MyBackup" (many issues reported. only homescreen backup. <-- not even that bugfree)
-Using "TitaniumBackup"
I prefer TitaniumBackup!
In some other Samsung-Thread here I found the solution to simply backup the "twlauncher" with TB. But i cant find that file in TB!!!
Plz, can anybody tell me how to backup my Homescreens and AppDrawer-Folders?

With GoBackup Pro you can save the touchwiz settings even widgets as long as you use the original tw and not a modded one.
I use it with no problems at all and works like a charm.

Hey Buddy, thx for your hint! unfortunately it doesn't work in my case. a backupp in JB isn't possible. There is also no possibility to autoinstall the backed up apps. I have to confirm every installation.
I know that it can be difficult to restore the TW-settings from ICS to JB, but I thought that it would work anyhow in some way, even if its not 100% as ist was on ICS.
Maybe someone got another idea?

My method.
Nandroid backup ..
Flash your new rom .
Recovery advanced restore restore data only.
It works but you may have conflicts on older apps with new firmware but i have rarely had that happen .

[Q] Can Titanium Backup restore your homepages with a new ROM

I am on DamageControl right now and I want to try the VirusRom.
I already searched the forums. For some reason search never takes me to a post just a thread. Telling me the words Titanium Backup are in a 600+ page thread does not help.
I know I can restore App with the batch function but I am not sure what setting or app I need to backup to restore the icons and the location of those Icons back to the homepages.

When it TB says system data is that like low level stuff that might conflict with code in a new rom. Or when I install a new ROM should I restore missing apps+ all system data to get back up to where I was before.
So If I do a Titanium backup of just Apps and assuming I have launcher pro and did a backup. When I install the new ROM will restore my apps would I then go into launcher pro and do a restore there and everything is like it was before - the internal code changes the new ROM puts in place?

Well not exactly, Widgets currently are broken. if you back up with launcherpro it will save your homepages/settings of launcher pro however all the widgets will be broken and need to be removed and re placed. If you back up your apps and app data you can then restore the app+ app data and your apps should function as normal but low level system stuff wont. (contacts can be re synced through Google)
over all i have not had many problems using titanium back up with system info restore on like roms (ie 2.2 to 2.2, or 2.1 to 2.1) I have had a few issues that i have worked out going form 2.1 to 2.2 and vice versus or switching from sense to aosp roms.
I am sure there is the potential for problems restoring system data but for me it has been few and far between unless switching to different rom styles as indicated above with different os version or if going between sense and aosp.
my recommendation back up everything with titanium back up, back up through launcher pro. wipe/flash new rom restore all system+app+data. if you have issues you can always re-flash and not flash the system data. if you dont then you are good to go and you only have to replace your widgets.

In TB there is a backup called Desktop, i think it should be green. That is where your home page settings are stored. If you are flashing from a sense rom to a sense rom (with same software version, i.e. 2.1 or 2.2), there shouldn't be a problem restoring the Desktop settings. Like was mentioned earlier, widgets usually won't load correctly so you just delete them and reapply them.

Where's this located? I'm not seeing it in my version, and didn't even know it was supposed to be there (you learn something new every day). Could this be because I have the free version as opposed to the paid version?
if you go to the backed up files you will find it. it isnt a batch command. it is basically the tb file it saves the desktop settings to. when yuo look at all the files and settings yuo have backed up look for desktop and it should have a tb icon and yes it is green click it hit restore.

weird - don't seem to have any listing that says "desktop". Although I've only played around with TB a little, so maybe I didn't to the kind of backup that would have backed it up? I've always just restored apps from market one-by-one - and the only settings I save are things like call logs (I'm ocd like that). I think I did one "real" backup with TB ages ago, now I just use it to make sure that busybox is set up right.
Yeah I don't see a backup or anything called "Desktop". Can you point me to exactly where it is? I'm using the dontate version. What I do is restore all apps+data+system data and that seems to restore my homescreens. I usally have to do a reboot after the restore to get everything working and my widgets usally come back as well.
You have to keep scrolling down, it's not under 'D' it's under 'H'. This is exactly what mine is labed as: [Desktop] HTC Sense 1.00

What if the ROM has not a Sense interface?
For exampe I am using MIUI and updating the ROM every month.
By using TB and restoring ALL I can have my icons, widgets & layout back, nonetheless I am afraid that by restoring ALL (apps + systems data) I am writing over the new system improvements and somehow getting back to the "old" system.
Any advice on that?
For non-Sense (lol nonsense), uhh anyway, for non-sense Roms just find the home setup you are using and restore the Data...
For example I have touchwiz, so I go to restore touchwiz and do data only, and voila! desktop back to normal without all that annoying redo work
Thanks for the help guys
I tried looking under "H" and "D" but didn't fine it. So I read the entire thread again and I looked under "T" for Touchwiz (I'm using Echoe TW Rom presently) and there is was. After restoring it I have to add my BBC widget again, though. But that's minor. Thanks again guys!!!

[Q] Backup apps & settings before flashing roms

Hi,
Since I made the jump to custom roms for the very first time yesterday I was wondering how you guys backup & restore all your apps & settings before & after flashing the new rom?
So far, google has pointed me towards MyBackupPro & Titanium Backup, but I was wondering if there are other/better methods than these.
Titanium backup is one of the better backup apps out there. At least that's wat I have been seeing and hearing about.

For apps i use a PC based app call QtABD http://qtadb.wordpress.com/about/ you need to set up the requirements first. But ever since I was introduced to it I never looked back (Thanks ckpv5) It also does a lot of other things like pushing and pulling files from your android. As for phone settings I never save phone settings! I always perform a clean wipe and reset my settings manually. Lessons the chance that the new ROM will perform properly.

[Q] Backup and restore homescreens

Hi guys, not 100% sure this is the right place, please correct me if it isn't.
I had an idea: since there are ways to copy homescreens from one launcher to another and there are backup/restore options in launchers, is there such a thing for Sense 4.x ?
It would save a lot of time and trouble with flashing roms, but also it's nice to simply have a backup when things go wrong.
We have "scenes" which are basically backups of the homescreen, so we only need a way to export those and import later. OR are these already backupped with a full phone data backup? (via the hidden backup/restore app)
Check for the app named with 'HTC Sense xxxx' in TiBackup & backup it. If you've restored it later, most of the things on your homescreens will get restored. Try!

Thanks man that's easyer than I thought haha. Hadn't used TiBackup yet for this purpose.
ViperX here I come
Just to confirm: that worked like a charm. Only thing to look out for is that you should install/restore your apps first, because it can't put icons down for apps that are not (yet) installed.
Cheers!

[NFC][Backup]One tap to backup Titanium, SMS and Call log?

If you like to tried out differents custom rom on your phone, I bet you'll have the same problem with me.
Do you backup the whole rom everytime you flash a new custom rom? I hope you're smarter than that. In fact, you don't need to nandroid backup the whole rom everytime you want to flash a new rom (but you do need at least one nandroid backup of the stable & daily use rom)
Instead, you only need to backup your data with some useful apps such as Titanium Backup, SMS backup & restore and Call log backup & restore, which I think these 3 backup is enough for me.
So you only need to nandroid restore to the stable rom and then restore the 3 backup I mentioned above. Believe me, this save your time a lot especially if you install a lot of apps in your phone. (A nandroid backup takes me 15 minutes for my SGS3)
And now I even think applying these 3 backup one by one is troublesome! (okay I admit I'm lazy)
So, is there any way to perform these backup activities with one tap on a NFC tag by using NFC Launcher or similar apps? Or even more advance apps like Tasker?
If you do have the same thought with me and you have some idea about this, please tell me. Thanks

How to backup the home screens...

hi guys,
how do I backup the setup, layout of my home screens on the galaxy s6 and galaxy s5.
kevin rea
Lancaster, calif.
Hi Kevin.
Welcome to the forums. Unfortunaly the only way I know to back up touchwiz (which I'm assuming your using) is to be rooted and use titanium backup. (Or do a nandroid backup of the whole system)
If you were to use another launcher such as nova . they normally have a backup function built in.
Another idea i heard people use is to just take a screenshot of the layout then set it as your wallpaper and Aline all your icons with it manually.
Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other questions.
titanium back up can back up the touch wiz layout???
I haven't tried this because I haven't need it, but using Helium, you can backup most apps without root, I think the one you need to backup is App launcher (it has a House Icon), I think that one should be Touchwiz backup, I may be wrong though.
