I dont know if its rude to request a rom, but could someone take a cm10 build and add in the expanded desktop feature of paranoid android roms?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
Since paranoid is CM based, why not just flash paranoid?
That's what I'm using, it seems to slow the phone down pretty much though. Having nothing in the background, google now takes forever to start.

has anyone tried both cm10 and jb aokp previews?
it would be great to know what the main features of each rom are as of now.

Is too early at this point to say which is better or which has better features. Both are very very young projects.
Boths looks like the same features, but personally i prefer AOKP because it has the option to change the nav bar dpi (euroskank aokp), but now im using paranoid based on cm10, im not using cuz' cm10 based but the awsome PA DPI configurations.

Its depend what you really want with your GNex. Each ROM have advantage
For me stock ROM that already Custom by someone is good enough

I'm testing the same thing. I just flashed the latest aokp, now I'm on paranoid android. I much prefer the toggles in aokp (I'm in minority here I know). But aokp is not working with hide nav bar app, yet cyan and all other JB roms work fine with this. So I'm sticking with PA for now.
Aokp is missing stuff still like color multipliers etc. But they have center clock etc. Cyan is missing center clock, but has screen multipliers. Cyan also has dBm signal, but aokp does not yet. So its a tough comparison. Cyan has more features. I'm staying with paranoid just to use tablet mode for now.
Can't compare the 2 like that. Both offer different things. From my experience cm has been smoother and more fluid than aokp but aokp has a lot of customization. I'd say cm is more stable but the only person who can confirm these things is you.

CM tends to be very stable and smooth , AOKP is great if your looking to make your phone a little more unique and personal.
I've found battery life on CM better than AOKP but over-all its down to what you want. Both work well, both work different.
Try both and make a decision
Only thing that I could think that is diffrent is the developers and one has the aokp extra settings tab and cyanogenmod has its own settings and wallpapers.
Is one better than the other and which one do you prefer?

That's about it. They're both built from source. AOKP has a couple more features. They're both really stable though and I prefer CM10.

They are fairly different...
AOKP has their own source though they do use quite a bit from Cyanogen. They offer the navbar to be enabled which Cyanogen doesn't.
CyanogenMod has a long standing history of being the first and the best... its just true. I would venture to say that their AOSP kernel is the best on the market the update almost daily with input directly from Qualcomm! The big feature that I am fond of is the profiles settings which you won't find most other places. These allow you to set custom "profiles" for different scenarios like work and home that will automatically do just about anything from turning on and off phone function s down to running individual apps. These are also able to be written to NFC tags... you can see the awesomeness?
Ok im a fanboi...

I have always thought of AOKP includes the best of AOSP an CM. I like them both but prefer AOKP. You can drill down into your device a little deeper to tweak it further in kang. Both are great ROMs though.

CM10 kills battery so fast lol.. and made my gs3 hot
I love the features of various source developed ROMs like AOKP, CM, or Paranoid Android. But at the same time I'm so used to certain Touchwiz things, like the calendar, dialer, browser...
What's the likelihood that someone could move the TW framework and apps over to a source-based ROM? Is it possible? Would it be stable? Or should I just find third party apps and move on with my life?
Some people have been able to port some, not all, of the TW apps but as far as everything else, it's never going to happen. People have wasted hundreds of hours and gotten no where.

I would love to see something like this, but I'm realistic and know its probably not possible.
I can continue to dream about seeing the touchwiz camera on cm10 though, right?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
If someone could just get the TW camera ported to AOSP, that would be awesome!
There have been a few in the past that were TW base but had some AOKP things added. But they arent up to date anymore
I know that jellybam has a touchwiz launcher but not the touchwiz apps. Plus i don't know how stable that rom is at the moment.
I've talked with johnsondr80 over at The Collective some time ago, and they apparently looked into merging TW into their ROM, and apparently it became apparent as to how incredibly massive it was going to be to do that. Apparently TW is interwoven throughout the entire ROM, and in essence would require (pretty much) a build from scratch........ I'm not a dev, so I could've misunderstood. But it sounded like it was was too much work for the benefits

Look at the ROMs OP [original Post or post 1 of any ROM thread] that will list how the ROM differs from stock and/or the adjustments made by the developer to the ROM and those ROMs that include S3 or Note based apps will state that. There are more and more doing it and you should be able to copy those same apps in to like ROMs [say you have a JB ROM and it has the app you want and another JB ROM you want to use does not] you could then copy the apk over and in a lot of cases it should work [it may not if the ROM is AOSP or AOKP those refer to different code bases and you may find some of the apps will like one or the other.
There are also threads in some cases if you search that offer up just the apps and state what they would work with.
As a last ditch you could download a Note or S3 ROM and open the zip [DONT FLASH IT TO YOUR DEVICE] and got in to system directory in zip go to apps and copy the apks you want from it and move them to the ROM you want to try them in. Worst comes to worst if it gives you issues use a root capable file manager and delete those apps that don't work.
OF COURSE, run appropriate backups as this really should not break your install, but on the totally off chance somehow it does it is better to be safe than sorry when just learning.
I suggest Embryo 6
I was looking at the Embryo Roms and there are two of them one says 6.3 and the other 6.1.1 i saw in the 6.3 there are some issues with call eco and other stuff, and saw in the 6.1.1 that it has some of the features giving problems cause they are experimental, wich one do you guys think i should give it a try?

I think you are referring to the flash bar as experimental and thats because multi-window has not been implemented. I use 6.1.1 and its beeen the best 4.1 Jelly bean rom so far from my experience. Or you can do what that guy above me said and have a much smoother experience.

You know, I didn't think I liked stock ROMs until I started using FTL 4.3. I'm a convert, less settings than I was used to previously, but less headaches, better battery, and just generally happier.
I'm sure I'll get lured into a custom ROM again in the future, but for now I'm enjoying a fully functional phone that never reboots or crashes.
I love stock, especially AR. But this won't benefit if it's not coming to Toro lol

today i will finish Maguro and we're ready to upload and release...
Still some issue on quick settings... i will provide to fix
Wait, doesn't AR have tons of customizations? Wouldn't that be the opposite of a stock esque rom?
And what's FTL?
