Hi! I'm new here. I'm from Bulgaria but I'll be in Serbia for a couple of months.
I have a problem with my location (almost everyday). When I bought my Nexus in August (in Bulgaria) I didn't have that problem, but when I came in Belgrade, Serbia my location is not accurate. It's really strange, everyday I make hundreds of kilometers, and my favorite destination is New Delhi, India. My record is 58 336km and I just made it within a few hours without leaving my house. Yesterday I saw that I'm in Belgrade area (where I live) on the map, but above my picture it says New Delhi, and GNow shows me what's the weather in India. I don't know what's the problem. I know that GPS is not alwaya accurate, but that much? GPS system is the same in every country, it's not something on the ground, it's in space! I feel like I'm underground or in space, it is not normal... I'm in Europe, in Belgrade area... and Serbia is not Iran. Here are some examples:
Belgrade, Serbia

I think it's enough. I'm using Internet through my SIM card and not thorough wireless connection. I'm sorry if I have some mistakes, I'm writing this topic thorough my Nexus. I'm sorry if there's something wrong with bb codes etc, if someone of you is moderator, fix the mistakes
Well, I believe Google Maps uses 3 sources of information to determine your location, which are cell tower location, GPS location and WiFi network location. Even if you are not connected to a WiFi network, it still scans local WiFi hotspots for location information if you have WiFi turned on. It is possible that there is a rogue cell tower or WiFi network in your area that is broadcasting bad location data.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
WiFi network's don't broadcast any location data. Google just builds a database of access points and correlates them with location data acquired by GPS or cell towers. If someone moved and so there WiFi access point is at a different location that could throw things off, but I imagine it wouldn't take long for the access points location to get updated in Google's database.
So, the problem is not from my phone or GPS system, but from cell towers? Sounds logical. I am disappointed, because I can't do anything to fix it. I will probably continue to go around the world from my house, and visit my cousins in New Delhi everyday...

The ARHD thread strongly recommends using:

Radio_12.28e.60.140f_26.04.02.17_M2_SF
I'm currently using:
android.d3xt3r01.tk/cyanogen/ace/radios/ace.26.04.02.17.zip
Is mine the same? I don't know if my current one have suffixes or not.
My HTC DHD's default stock (before changing anything) is 26.03.02.26_M.
Questions:
1. What do the suffixes M, M2, and SF mean?
2. Why so many versions of radio? I understand that radio controls cellular connections, gps, bluetooth, etc... but with each newer "radio" that is released, is it more powerful? more energy saving?
3. I live in Singapore, my provider is Starhub. Are the different radio versions (in terms of phone and data connection) meant to suit different providers? (Hence I should revert to my phone's default stock radio?
4. I often wish Wifi/ Bluetooth/ 3G data connection can be "boosted", even if it is at the expense of battery life. Is it possible here? How to configure? (E.g. I know that for my router, with 3rd party firmware, I can increase the wireless power)
2)
On currentwidget's logged data graph, I realise that my current usage fluctuates alot. Is this normal?
11am-12pm was listening to internet radio and connected to bluetooth headphones.
about 5pm-7pm was listening to mp3s and surfing internet on 3G.
other than that, the phone was in standby/ lock-screen with screen turned off, and wifi/bluetooth/gps/auto-sync all disabled.

"SD Card unexpectedly removed"
I did unmount properly on my PC before changing back to Charge Only mode on my phone.
Sometimes it just suddenly happens when I'm browsing the SD card contents on my phone too.
Is there a fix?
Is there a way to re-mount without opening up the back cover and pushing it out and in again, or restarting my whole phone?
4.)
How can I edit/ access the Middle Name field in my contacts?
Apparently some contacts have middle names automatically formatted, and my phone can read them. But when I go into Edit mode for the contact, there's only First Name and Last Name.

SMARTBYTES TRACKER
for
AIRTEL WIFI BROADBAND USERS
Smartbytes is a service provided by Airtel for its broadband users to keep a track of the High Speed Data left in their account. It gives information such as the DSL Number in which the Airtel broadband account is registered, Balance Data left, High Speed Data Limit and the Number of days left in the Billing Cycle.
All this information is provided by visiting Airtel's Smartbytes Website. I too had to visit this website many a times in a month to keep a track of data left in my account. (It is an unavoidable and a necessary task). I had my phone with me more readily available than my laptop. So I developed this very small and very basic app, SmartBytes Tracker.
This app just retrieves the information provided by the Smartbytes' Website and puts in on your Android Phone in just One Tap! No need to visit the Website everytime that you want to check your data usage.
I know its a very basic app. It's my first app which i developed in my past time trying to learn something new, and I am satisfied with it!
I shared it with some of my friends at my college and they loved it. So I thought I should share it with others too. It saves a few clicks and definitely saves time.
Developed and tested it on Samsung Galaxy Grand i9082 (5'' Screen). Tested on Samsung Note 2 (5.5'' Screen) too.
How to use?
Just make sure you are connected to an Airtel WiFi Network, and Tap to open the app!
That's all.
Requires Android Version 4.0 and above. [API 14+]I hope this app helps someone somewhere, save time and efforts.

So, hello everyone it's been a while.
For those who wonder what the heck is this guy,
I made this app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/themes-apps/edge-navigation-bar-button-t2950486
Anyhow, let's get to the point.
I've been around making this app... called 'On the Edge of the World', or 'the Edge of the World', or 'World Edge' to shorten a lot.
For now, it's quite simple. It basically works in three steps.
1.When loaded,(that is user swipes edge panels and World Edge shows up), it checks gps location.
2.Then it retrieves google maps image from online and shows the image on the edge panel
3.Also, it writes down the address of current location.
I have fooled my phone so that it thinks that I am at the Statue of Liberty, Liberty Island.
See the image below of the prototype I have worked on.

GPS locations are not re-called automatically after once it's loaded due to battery issue.
You can refresh your GPS location manually by clicking that Compass icon below, though.
(Yes, it's the icon from Safari. Sorry Jobs, I have always been shameless about stealing great icons.)
So that's basically it, at least for now.
What do you think? Too gimmicky?
What kind of functionality does this app need to become a killer-app?
Let me know.
Reserved just in case
Good work again. And what about battery use?
Possibly a GPS navigation system using just the edge with voice prompts. It can display an arrow when you need to turn(flashing arrow for a hundred meters or so) and have the voice telling you where to go. Make sure it has downloadable maps so it doesn't cost using wireless internet.
Good enough idea for you?

Similarly to the Google Maps micro on Wear? I could get down with that!
Love the idea, can't wait to see it in action!
Hey guys, so been using the Malaysk ROM's for a while and even though it does work, sometimes it takes a long time for GPS to get a good signal (yes I understand needing clear view, weather, etc), but the one thing I noticed when looking at the GPS monitor, if you look at the picture of the map the image for satellites that are used .... it looks like they are satellites on the other side of the world, whereas i'm located in Florida, USA, so shouldn't it be using GPS satellites closer to my location?
Does anybody know if this is actually the case or am I misinterpreting it? How can I set it to use closer satellites, or maybe set the location? I tried in settings to make sure everything was set to correct time zone, etc, but can't find anything else related to GPS.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Comments? Thanks!!

Yes, at that time I have one, but it normally takes about 5-10 minutes before it actually gets a valid signal
These units are from China. Not surprisingly, the map is centered on China. Ignore the image, you're not picking up satellite signals traveling through the Earth. If it's taking a long time to lock, the GPS receiver is likely losing its almanac when the unit is powered down. Check your connections to be sure there's a constant 12V on the appropriate wire.

Ahhh I think you may be onto something there, after reading through all that it sounds like exactly my problem ... but i'm at the point now where it's time for an upgrade, but very good to know, thanks for your reply.
